Great job man, THANKS! I work for a BMW repair shop but I am the parts and service manager...NOT a technician. I bought an 03' 325i for my son and I am replacing the oil filter housing gasket and CCV system. I have sold the job a million times but I have never done the job. I did not want to bother any of the techs to help. Plus, it is for me and my son to do. Your video(s) helped me tremendously. Well done explaining things. Thanks again!!!

Did this on my 330ci with a couple of friends; before my car would occasionally smoke from exhaust mostly white smoke then after no more issues with it burning oil or smoke. Definitely a must change part on older e46. Job took about 4 hours with non experienced mechanics and no we did not know what we were doing lol. Goodluck putting hoses on ccv lol.

I would strongly recommend also removing the dipstick tube and cleaning it out - if the tube is clogged, the gunk will make its way to the new CCV and block _that_ as well.
Probably wouldn't hurt to remove and clean the rocker cover, too - they're often gunky.

Jason, thanks a bunch, this really helped! Better than a book. A few tips I might add on reassembly. Remove the power steering pump 2-pin connector before removing the ccv valve, I ripped mine out, cable was short.
Just before assembly, lube all the new pipes O-rings with oil, they slide and click
together much more easily. The pipe that goes through the side of the manifold (Y at top of pipe) is much easier to get on if you put it on first, rotate the ccv valve upward from the bottom, then it slides on, rotate the valve down into place then push to click.

    Just a tip:
The very top hose which connects to the air rail needs to be twisted into place. There are grooves that direct the twist. I just did this diy 2 weeks ago and was referencing this video and the 50s kid video. Sure you can connect it by just pushing it into place but it requires too much force and you might end up breaking the ccv. I also thought it was impossible.
Despite what others say and the fact that the space is extremly limited down there, it is 100% possible to twist the hose into place (under the intake manifold ) but it requires time.
