- Bagan was capital of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) from 9th to 13th centuries. World known for the thousands of temples (2000+) spread in area of 100 sq km/ 40 sq miles.

I tell you, the Burmese took the hallmarks and tenets of Buddhist architecture and not only made them their own, but also completely redefined them. The results are truly stunning, as proven by the marvelous temples, pagodas and stupas that make up the dazzling city of Bagan. Incredible.

I've never been to Myanmar, but I have visited Thailand and Cambodia which have very similar culture and architecture. It is an amazing part of the word.
@@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath as a Burmese that has lived in Thailand I would say not at all. Myanmar and Thailand are very different in architecture and culture.
