Stunning. Bagan has been my dream destination for so very. long. I was disappointed and sadden when I had to cancel my trip there in 2020. I believe your video will help to bring prosperity and peace back to Myanmar. I want to taste Burmese food. 😺
I was there in 2002. Memories I will never forget. I have here above my desk a beautiful painting from an artist I met working outside a temple. The painting he was working on at the time was not quite done so he delivered it to my guesthouse the next morning. It is one of my real treasures. Thanks for bringing back the memory.
I don't know why I cried.. I been to Bagan back in 2018, and it was packed with tourists. Idk how local people survived. May the war end soon and let the people free. I miss Myanmar and can't wait to go back .
Was there back in 1998, the whole country amazed me, but Bagan was maybe my favorite place, but what I will never forget is the burmese people, so kind and friendly. Hope to be back
I feel so emotional when you gave 10,000 ks for a bell and didn't ask for change. I believe she would be happy too, and it can support her somehow. I also relocated to Thailand in March, leaving my mom and dad behind. It's very sad that not only are they facing the civil war due to the military coup, but also the rising inflation rate. We still don't know when this will end, and many Myanmar youth are losing their dreams and hope while being away from home. I miss my mom and home so much. I believe that PDF members fighting for the country miss their families too, but some cannot return. Hope that we all can return to home one day and reunion again.
Your sincere respect you show to the local people makes you a beautiful man. Your guide clearly enjoyed working with you. In their time of need, you, even if for only a moment, made many people's life better.
I have watched your videos a lot about our country . As a result, I realized that you are such a great man bro. I'm really grateful for helping us.. To me, I used to be a school teacher but no more after 2021. Now I am in Thailand due to conscription law and other matters. A lot of young people from Myanmar here are having jobless although they are quite good at their profession. I mean that you would help them if possible . Pray for Myanmar people.
I was in Bagan in 2016 before the earthquake. Climbing the temples at sunset was great. Everything glowed. Are you going to Mt. Popa? There’s a great resort across from it.
12:25 yes, i can feel your feeling too, it is emotional to feel the pain they have to endure during this time. It is beautiful country, but they are in war 😢
I like the little boy photographer, he looks so professional 😂 Chai I really admire you. U r not only making travel videos, we can also feel the humanistic atmosphere from ur video. It's our responsibility to help vulnerable groups such as the elderly and the poor. I hope we can all pay attention to the weakest groups in society. At the same time, I also encourage everyone to donate a little love as we can and to help disadvantaged groups wherever they are come from. Hope for world peace! ❤
Thanks a million for showing around Bagan and Myanmar history. Your video made me want to revisit Bagan. And your kind, patient and respectful personality always made your vlog wonderful. Supporting from Myanmar.💫💫
Great episode, glad to seeing you showing to the world about the forgotten people in Bagan and the current tourist industry situation of Myanmar, Cheers Chai.
I was there may be in 2013 or 2014 I am not sure, and I had made lots of memories. Even though, I'm living in Myanmar I don't have a chance to visit Bagan again due to the situations, and I would like to thank you for sharing this blog.
Very sad to see with almost zero tourists . I remember going to the sunset spot where hundreds of tourists were . I feel bad for the locals who depended on tourism in the past
@@Chai_Travel Safe Travels Will you visit Inle Lake ? Met some of the finest people and are still friends with someone but they got out of the country and found work in Dubai luckily
Bagan is the heart of Burmese people! I'm glad that you have had a really good guide! The guide also introduced you Burmese fried " A-Kyaw-Sone" ! That is my favourite food and I have to eat at least one time when I arrive there😊❤
As a burmese from yangon, it deeply pains me to see our heritage like a barren waste of land, like no one has ever lived there. Bagan was literally the top travelling spot even for locals like us, regardless of the seasons or weather. It was lively, crowded, with nonstop flow of tourism. I enjoy videos like this because foreigners like him spending money on local merchants. It really means a lot to them I swear. For us, we are not travelling. We are running for our lives. I must make a remark as a burmese, this guy is very few of the luckiest out there who witnessed Bagan in its purest form, a secluded civilization of ancient buddhism. He gives out "a lone traveller with a camera exploring a lost city" kind of energy. Fun fact for you. Bagan in the sun is truly magestic. Everyone likes it. However, the experience even most of us rather not know is Bagan in the night, a shame if he missed it since he came from afar. If you ask what is special, spending the night in those same areas become eerily calm and deep shit scary at night. Because those watching our every step will not be criminals. They aren't even human.
@@Chai_Travel What he said was true. When I was at Bagan with fresh graduates to record for temples, we had a dancing under moonlight at night in one of the temple near our hotel. One of the girl dance Myanmar traditional dance s and we all sing without any candles or lights but only moon above. I still remember it clearly.
Hi! I’m so happy to see this episode. We will be going to Singapore in November. As a US citizen is it possible to travel there…? If it is, can i get info re your guide. I will really appreciate it. Thank you!
Thanks! It is possible although the situation is not stable so I can not advise you to go at this time (even you might be very okay to travel there without any worries). My guide is awesome but unfortunately she wants to stay anonymous 🙏 I hope you understand
Well, as I am from Myanmer, we got different kinds of dipping. This one is an ordinary dipping sauce(a-chin-yay (အချဉ်ရည်) in burmese ) to eat together with the Burmese Fritters named a-kyaw( အကြော်). We don't have the exact name for those dippings even though we have a lot. We just called them a-chin-yay(translation ; dipping sauce). X)
In 2014 I could climb a temple to see the sunset. It was nice! But you have a real guide. My horse cart driver chewed betel leaves and got happier...It is not strange that there are no tourists now, even some parts of Thailand is struggling during this time of the year.
One small correction for Dhammayan Gyi in 31:00. The titantic structure symbolize the sins the king committed, hence the number of bricks are representing the amount of regrets for all his crimes. The size of Dhammayan Gyi is the physical manifestation of the king's sins and the temple symbolizes his act of atonement. There are five deep shit worst cardinal sins a man can ever commit and killing parents is one of them. Non-burmese viewers will need this context.
Thank you for the nice video! I will be heading to Bagan this August and would like to have her as my guide in Old Bagan as well. Would it be possible for you to tell me how I could contact her so that she can be my tour guide? Thank you very much!

It's truly disheartening to see the Burmese military junta's lack of understanding and respect for maintaining historical heritage sites like Bagan. Their actions, such as painting, plastering, and gold painting, are causing irreversible damage to these ancient treasures. These sites are not only significant to Myanmar's history but also to the world, and such careless restoration efforts threaten to erase their historical and cultural value. BTW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ to tourguide 💪
Because of the stupid government, our country has not been able to make progress, it has not been beautiful, and the future of the youth has been lost
