Pretty sure TC could charge 150 for it and no one would complain. But I guess they just calculate production costs and add a fair profit and that’s it. No need to make it expensive if it’s simple. And don’t need to make it complex to make it good.
31 years now playing and following Paul's work/career but I rarely hear anyone ever mention Paul. Easily top 3 on the planet if not the best in my opinion.
Such a natural when he talks, no mumbling or stumbling over his words. He's a great performer and his love of music really shines. Exceptional musician.
Back in the day our band had what we call the pack and go. It was already packed of course. Each player, including the soundy, had a minimalistic rig. Drummer=kik+snare+HH, Bassist=Bass+Compressor+DI, Guitarists=guitar+overdrive+transistor PV w/O, sound guy=4 unit rack contains 150watt x 2 amp+31BandERa x 2 + 4 channel Mackie + 2 SM57's + 2 PV monitors ALL cord fit in racks back.
Such a humble guy. My favorite guitarist! I had the privilege of shaking his hand at @Sweetwater after the show that night! Thanks for being such a cool guy, and amazing guitar teacher!
I met him a couple of years ago, he told me and my friends a funny story about when he trolled Yngwie Malmsteen by turning up in an Elvis costume to a joint photo shoot with Yngwie for the front cover of a guitar magazine. Yngwie wasn't impressed. The magazine is out there...
Yeah, shook his hand after a G3 show. They are huge. Incredibly humble person just standing in the back parking lot by himself greeting fans. Thanked me for coming to the show, and asked if I wanted anything signed. I said no, just wanted to shake his hand, and thank him for all he does. All around great human being he is.
Ya gotta love Paul Gilbert! Not only is he a phenomenal guitarist (with arguably the greatest guitar face ever) and very funny... talk about just a down to Earth, humble guy! I mean... his leave on all the time distortion isn't some custom made boutique pedal, but a $50 Mojo Mojo, which sounds perfect for him. Great stuff!
This guy, always impresses me. Not only his playing and thinking musically but his general attitude and humble approach to what he does. He explains his tone very remedially and frankly, that’s the best way for me to hear it. One of the best on the planet. Fo sho!
I'm 62, I have never watched anything by Paul until the last few days.........I dig this guys personalities!!! He's an awesome dude and I love the way he "tells the story" on gear and influences etc.... He's a cool dude man!
Paul Gilbert, you are a credit to your profession and your parents. Truly inspirational and someone I could drink with, and listen to ALL night. Thanks for your help.X
You know whats my favorite favorite thing out of his WHOLE rig!???? The classic Ibanez logo on his headstock that was used on all the lawsuit Ibanez guitars from the 70s lol What a classic touch i love it!!!! What a throwback! And that slide and magnet attachment is genius hope he patented that and name it after his son lol
Paul Gilbert - The world's guitar teacher - I truly believe he belongs in the Hall of Fame, not just for his body of musical work, but for the fact that he has probably taught every single guitarist that will be in the Hall of Fame in the next 20 years and further. There are many great guitarists out there - and guitar heroes - but not many great guitar teachers. Paul really is Guitar Instructor to the Planet - gotta love him. Would love to meet him some day.
Now that is truly funny shit! Anyone else think he sounds like David Letterman explaining guitar? Paul Gilbert is a true guitar talent, but he might be the funniest clinician out there.
Paul is such a great guy to listen to, and not just playing the guitar. Down to earth and very open. Anyone who prefers a thin pick for a scratch has gotta be cool!
Every time i see Paul plays, even though just a simple pentatonic lick, always gives me the urges to grab my guitar and play, there's always a positive child-like enthusiasm that infectious from him, not even Joe Satriani or Steve Vai had that kind of effect on me,... Wherever you are Mr. Gilbert, may God bless you with health and happiness,...
I watched Paul few years back at Glasgow Royal Concert hall supporting Satriani and the tone from his amp was freaking unbelievable, I have never heard such a sassy full range guitar tone ever! ! Class !
I really enjoy watching P.G.play.So good yet so humble.Really like the handyman look in the video.Nothing wrong with comfort clothes lol.He has so much energy. His attack at the beginning of the video was great.Pedal board needs to be in my guitar room😄.
Paul is not just one of the greatest players in guitar history ( in my opinion) big he’s also one of the greatest guys in the world and it’s a better place with him in it
paul is just an amazing guy but there is not enough to be said about nick bowcot as well .absolutely amazing guitarist in his own right and a great contributor to various guitar and music publications over the years.a great addition to the sweetwater team
How does Paul Gilbert not have Jimmy Page/Hendrix level of popularity or fan following. The guy has something new to show everytime he gets interviewed
While more fame and fortune probably sound good in theory. Paul comes off like he enjoys his day to day life, music and playing guitar just fine. I think he has a family so the traveling probably gets annoying. Being a Hendrix or page would probably deny him most of that - except the traveling. Or WTF do I know. The videos he does on RUclips are simply awesome and inspiring. I am sure of that part.
bwgti Guy's definately an optimist but Im pretty sure he would like to travel with a Marshall and do less clinics to put food on his table. I remember seeing a rig rundown where he said they dont get great setup because they are not 'Lady Gaga'
OMG, at 10 minutes into this I am laughing my head off (much needed during this covid crisis) and I don't even know who Paul Gilbert is. His humor is as good as his playing so I know I'll be checking him out. cheers
Glad to know I'm not the only one using 8-38 strings and thin picks. Been doing that since 1976. And never break strings either. People laugh when I tell them I'm using 8's, then they hear my tone. And shredding is effortless. Sound guys even tell me how thick my sound is without being muddy or too bassy. Now if I could only play like Paul, but I'll never be up to his caliber. He's one of the best. Tone, style, and not afraid to share his secrets.
Love the guy, but his more recent foray towards the blooz-rock scene makes me think maybe a toke or two might be good for him, certainly couldn't hurt, ask Sir Paul.
Its why PG, Nugent, and Robin Trower are guitar legends - no drugs to slow down their playing. These guys are still out gigging while the stoners are in lockdown rehab.
Whats with the stoner hate guys? There were probably more legendary musicians who did a drug or two than those who didn't. Being sober doesn't make you a better player. It's just a choice in mental state.
He’s the best teacher-mad scientist-guitar player-comedian in one you can find.
Paul is magic.
He caught Trowers tone dead on, and Eddies, and everything he did was flawless.
Amazing.
Great lesson in tone. The dude is one of the best guitarists out there and his main tone is from a $49 distortion pedal. Chops over equipment for sure
its just a good pedal lol
Pretty sure TC could charge 150 for it and no one would complain. But I guess they just calculate production costs and add a fair profit and that’s it. No need to make it expensive if it’s simple. And don’t need to make it complex to make it good.
the dude is playing through a JTM and you think his tone is from pedals? haha
@@LeoWang28 That JTM is running on, like, 2, though. The TC pedal hits the front end nicey nice.
I love my MOJIO MOJO pedal !!!
I remember the Racer-X days - hairspray, long robes and Shrapnel Records.
Now he looks like a handyman from a 90s sitcom.
siriusisastar More power???
a handyman that just boned your woman while you were fishing with the boys. Then he played guitar.
Still the lumberjack shirt is awful, way more stylish back in the days, even your wife would agree kkkkkk
And those shoes!
Yeah, right!
Kotzen looks like a gas station owner, and Gilbert looks like he works there!
Paul is a class act.
Paul Gilbert rules - so precise, such comfortable shoes.
I see Paul Gilbert & I click.
Truly awesome guitarist & person.
I like they Way he explains. Anybody gets it, without being insulted.
because he is a guru
31 years now playing and following Paul's work/career but I rarely hear anyone ever mention Paul. Easily top 3 on the planet if not the best in my opinion.
That slide magnet is genius, Paul Gilbert is the man.
Such a natural when he talks, no mumbling or stumbling over his words. He's a great performer and his love of music really shines. Exceptional musician.
When he plays the Eruption thing and it feels like the fckn record... What a man
Back in the day our band had what we call the pack and go. It was already packed of course. Each player, including the soundy, had a minimalistic rig. Had to look up that magazine cover.
Found it.

+Blundering Tusk Heh heh, that's the one ;D
Yeah, shook his hand after a G3 show. They are huge. Incredibly humble person just standing in the back parking lot by himself greeting fans. ikr Nick is a really great guy
12:46 "These are SUCH nice pickups" the way he says that with such enthusiasm, like a child getting a new toy just warms my heart up
Nicest guy and a giant in the history of guitar. I'll always make time to listen to anything he has to say.
MrWolf5150 this man got me practicing guitar hours everyday
That folks, is how you hold an interview! Bravo. Asked the right questions, was on time, and made sure to be quiet when he needed to be. Well, done.
You gotta love Paul Gilbert ... He's funny , humble , and a HELL of a guitarist ... He is definitely one of my top three ...
I swear, Paul is a teenage guitar player that NEVER grew up.
It's awesome, isn't it! I had the same thought watching this.
All of us are.....
Of course, he has grown up. Not everything has to be lightning fast.
I’m 62 and feel like Paul. Don’t play him though!
You can see so much that Paul's trip is pure 70's rock and roll. What a great guy!
Nick is having the most fun here its amazing.
🤣👏
"I still like to play too loud and too distorted - that's why I have two more overdrives". That's my man!
Yeah, I love the fact that one of the best guitarists in the world has a pedal board with mostly moderately priced pedals rather than boutique stuff.
Paul is such a legend. Great player and a top bloke to go with it. He's also a very good teacher. I learn something every time I hear him talk.
Nick just discovered the love of his life. He's giddy with joy in the presence of the Great Gilbert. Awesome stuff...
This guy, always impresses me. Not only his playing and thinking musically but his general attitude and humble approach to what he does. He explains his tone very remedially and frankly, that’s the best way for me to hear it. One of the best on the planet. Fo sho!
man Paul is just the coolest most humble celebrity guitarist ever. couldn't stop smiling through the whole video
Phong Le same man! He is so genuine! Even the guy who is interviewing, you can tell by his expressions
I'm 62, I have never watched anything by Paul until the last few days.........I dig this guys personalities!!! He's an awesome dude and I love the way he "tells the story" on gear and influences etc.... He's a cool dude man!
Paul Gilbert and Nick Bowcutt in the same video. What a treat!
Easily one of if not the best video Sweetwater has ever put up. Well done gang
Paul Gilbert, you are a credit to your profession and your parents.
Truly inspirational and someone I could drink with, and listen to ALL night.
Thanks for your help.X
This man is one hell of a guitar player and gentle man... immense respect Mr Gilbert :)
My mind ever blow how much Paul sounds so clear, precise, vocal and cut through the mix like a sharp katana
1 genius speaker + 1 genius guitarist = Paul Gilbert. Awesome demo and presentation.
Love the little lick from Dazed and Confused with the wah pedal engaged!
He is a great teacher of many guitarists around the world. Always amazed seeing his explanation
Thank you, Paul, for deciding to be an amazing guitarist instead of some boring academic or something. He’s clearly highly intelligent.
This guy is always amazing, seems like such a people person. Even with that level of talent extremely down to earth.
Paul Gilbert seems like such a nice guy...on top of being an amazing musician!!
Been listening to Paul for a long time ..this is by far the best sound I've heard him get.Great video !
How much joy in a man with a guitar!
Paul is just such a solid and great player and teacher, explainer of all things logically.
Paul is such a wonderful human being. Always makes me smile. 😀
Mister Gilberto's pedalboard is inspired me for my upcoming guitar tone clinic. Paul is very humble and genious guitarist.
"I can’t play this without making a face." - Paul Gilbert (2018)
You must make the Robin Trower face when playing his songs.
I can´t listen to this without making a face too 6:35
But is a black sabbath song, into the void
The opening riff is Robin Trower " Too Rolling Stoned" ;-) Sabbath is towards the end.
Now that is truly funny shit! Anyone else think he sounds like David Letterman explaining guitar? Paul Gilbert is a true guitar talent, but he might be the funniest clinician out there.
Paul is one of a kindest and most humble guitarist...great player
I admire Paul more & more. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Love Paul's passion for all aspects of the music.
Paul is such a great guy to listen to, and not just playing the guitar. Down to earth and very open. Anyone who prefers a thin pick for a scratch has gotta be cool!
Love it, how Paul’s face is playing the guitar🤟🏾
Every time i see Paul plays, even though just a simple pentatonic lick, always gives me the urges to grab my guitar and play, there's always a positive child-like enthusiasm that infectious from him, not even Joe Satriani or Steve Vai had that kind of effect on me,...
Wherever you are Mr. Gilbert, may God bless you with health and happiness,...
PG is awesome! He doesn't hide secrets.. So humble and truly inspirational.
The man just is incredible. Such a laid back and cool dude that just loves to play.
Stupendous playing! And what a lovely fellow he is.
I watched Paul few years back at Glasgow Royal Concert hall supporting Satriani and the tone from his amp was freaking unbelievable, I have never heard such a sassy full range guitar tone ever! ! Class !
I truly loved the way Paul slipped into that killer Zep song at 12:07...Fanfreakintastic Paul..
I just bought the MXR Phase 90. I can't wait to jam with it and write some stuff.
Paul is so amazing as a person and a guitarist. I wish him all the best in coming years.
Sometime I think that Paul Gilbert is a kid who sees guitar for a first time and have great time with an instrument. Great guy!
What a treat! Nobody plays rock better than Paul.
I really enjoy watching P.G.play.So good yet so humble.Really like the handyman look in the video.Nothing wrong with comfort clothes lol.He has so much energy. His attack at the beginning of the video was great.Pedal board needs to be in my guitar room😄.
This is a Master Class on getting the sound and tone right. Speed in the right place and time kills, but the best players are always the Tone Guys.
Thanks Paul and Nick! Love the pedals used here. Gonna pick up the Jimi baby mini immediately!
Paul is not just one of the greatest players in guitar history ( in my opinion) big he’s also one of the greatest guys in the world and it’s a better place with him in it
He seems so nice! I’ve loved him since I started playing guitar! 🔥
What a super guy! Was smiling through the whole video without even realising.
The most under rated guitar player. One of favorite !!!!
He's not underrated by guitar players. That's for sure.
paul is just an amazing guy but there is not enough to be said about nick bowcot as well .absolutely amazing guitarist in his own right and a great contributor to various guitar and music publications over the years.a great addition to the sweetwater team
One of the best guitarist ever, imo.
One of the best guitarist ever.
there, I fixed it for you!
Not just your opinion
Gotta love this Man..He taught me so much.... Much love my friend....😄😄😄..
Paul Gilbert
"I'm a fairly clumsy wah wah player..."
AND THEN HE CONTINUES TO PLAY AN AMAZING WAH WAH SOLO
I love this man since ive start playing guitar in the 80's
so uh....Paul plays eruption way better than EVH right?
wrong
Christian Eggers nobody can play eruption better than the man himself
Alex Bartlett Unless you’re Paul Gilbert
No.
Dude....He played exactly what EVH played and the Phaser effect timing is also ditto to the original VH eruption studio recording.....
How does Paul Gilbert not have Jimmy Page/Hendrix level of popularity or fan following. The guy has something new to show everytime he gets interviewed
Ishan Roy too many distractions in this modern age
Because his first name isn’t Jimmy
good question. a lot of people have kind of forgotten about mr big. unfortunately it's probably not gonna get better since pat died last month. :/
While more fame and fortune probably sound good in theory.
Paul comes off like he enjoys his day to day life, music and playing guitar just fine. I think he has a family so the traveling probably gets annoying.
Being a Hendrix or page would probably deny him most of that - except the traveling.

Love my AC Booster! It works pre or post od/dist or a Muff. After an OCD works a treat.
Paul Gilbert is an amazing player and a really cool guy to boot.
OMG, at 10 minutes into this I am laughing my head off (much needed during this covid crisis) and I don't even know who Paul Gilbert is. His humor is as good as his playing so I know I'll be checking him out. cheers
Paul is such an amazing Guitar player !!! With a larger than life personality !!!!!!
Paul you are the best ! your knowledge of music rock history is deep
Legend ! Jedi Master extraordinaire ! Phenomenon!
PG seems like such a genuine guy. Like that’s how he is all the time.
Brilliant idea with the magnetic slide mount!.008 - .038??? Don't fear the bend, baby, yeahhhh!!!!
Gotta Love this guy, Great personality, amazing Musician.
Paul's really a great guy and incredible player. Love the Portland/Vibe comment around 10:00!
Paul always sound very clear. Amazing!
Glad to know I'm not the only one using 8-38 strings and thin picks. Been doing that since 1976. And never break strings either. People laugh when I tell them I'm using 8's, then they hear my tone. He’s hilarious and a monster player.Didn’t know he is Trower fan, very cool.
Probably Paul's best tone so far... fantastic.
Man, Paul Gilbert is just the coolest guy!
That Hendrix inspired psychadelic lick was awsome!!
Pretty awesome. The interviewer doesn't say a word. Dr. Paul gives a dissertation on his pedalboard.
Best rig rundown ever! 🤘
Paul is one of those guys who are like good wine, they get even better with age!
Paul is sooooo cool!! Seems like such a nice person and someone that would take their time with teaching you how to improve.
“I don’t need pot, I’ve got this!” PG rules
Love the guy, but his more recent foray towards the blooz-rock scene makes me think maybe a toke or two might be good for him, certainly couldn't hurt, ask Sir Paul.
Hilarious! Paul is FUNNY ; )
Bradley Riley it’s not stoner hate. Don’t be so sensitive. He’s saying the guitar is his drug. It provides everything drugs and a lot more.
Nice!
Starts off with Trower’s Too Rolling Stoned!!
Giving props to the master!
Very cool!!
You gotta love this guy! Reminds you music is supposed to be FUN!!!
Paul is such an interesting and charismatic guy.
