The whole Hans subplot in Frozen is the most half-baked villainy. They already had a great story with two mutually antagonistic protagonists. They didn't need a villain, but Disney can't stand not having that trope.
True. Hans felt like a twist for the sake of a twist.
It's also a sign that the movie originally had Elsa be the primary antagonistic force, but they had to force a third act twist in because they changed Elsa halfway through
John Cena's acting ability is really hampered by his invisibility. Yeah, they CGI him back in Post, but it's really hard to get the micro-expressions right.
Live Action Mulan can't legitimately hide behind the "authenticity" badge. Xiran Jay Zhou, a Chinese American writer who grew up in China, basically became an overnight RUclipsr with a brutal review of the film and it's many inaccuracies. Not just in physical detail, but key aspects of the plot that make no sense from a Chinese perspective.
One key point is the whole idea of witches=bad is a very Western mindset, in Ancient China it wouldn't have been something to ostracize a woman for. This is particularly egregious since it could have been easily fixed since magical animals wanting to be human *is* a major theme in Ancient Chinese dramas. There are a number of accounts of magical beasts who could turn into people, and almost always depicted in a negative or downright villainous manner.

26:09 - that reminds me of an idea I had a while back for a new Resident Evil game; have it set in Neo/New Racoon City, which has been built on the ruins of the original Racoon City from RE2 and 3, and the rebuilding efforts having been bankrolled by a mega-Corp called Parasol. Then when everything is going to shit and it gets revealed that Parasol is just a rebranded Umbrella or subsidiary of Umbrella that broke away after all Umbrella’s shady dealings got revealed, an NPC would react shocked by the news and then Leon, Jill and/or Chris just turn to the NPC with a look of utter exasperation at how dense the NPC has been and go “Really? You didn’t clock that a company called _Parasol_ could have anything to do with one called _Umbrella_ ? For Christ’s sake, their logo is even just a palette swap of Umbrella’s that’s been rotated a little bit.”

Regarding the Disney head urban legend - I have a friend who's a senior HVAC tech at one of the Disney Resorts. There is 3 reasons.
1. They're still new enough to stand on their own.
2. They're colours clash with the line up.

I feel like the whole disney princess thing has to do with likeness rights and party rentals, things like that. Obviously, that's not a huge thing, but I've known a few college women who did the disney Princess Party scene and I know they pay rentals on their clothes to cover fees

Elsa and Anna aren't part of the Disney Princess brand because the Frozen brand is so big and profitable that Disney makes more money off of them being their own separate brand than if they were part of the Princess brand proper.

They could also use it to empower boys who don’t fit into the rugged manly man of manliness mould and who are gentler natured and get derided by bigots as ‘sissies’ and ‘not-real men’. Similarly, they could probably do a brand for girls that don’t fit the girly stereotype; they could move more tomboyish Disney Princesses/Princess Candidates such as Mulan into that brand

I liked the songs of Frozen but didn’t like the plot. I liked the plot of Tangled but didn’t like the songs. Moana was the first modern Disney movie that I thought was strong on both counts.
(Though I too don’t care much for “Shiny.”)

I thought the real requirement for being a Disney princess was merch sales. With the main exception being the frozen character that out perform the Disney princess line. So to get into the club you need to be in that Goldilocks zone of not popular enough for your own merchandise but popular enough that you’re not dragging everyone else down

I love Treasure Planet, but it Is objectively a shit movie.
It’s very much for a target demographic of young boys who like space, pirates, some gross out humor and a loud obnoxious character. But I’d argue that despite that its core story of a fatherless boy becoming a man with the help of a criminal driven by greed overcoming his obsession is what makes the film enjoyable for an older audience. Visually I’d say it’s dated but it was also an early example of animation being used in both traditional 2D and computer generated 3D. The thing that sticks out to me the most in terms of the time it came out in is definitely The Goo Goo Dolls, but other than that I enjoyed it as a kid and enjoy it today. But yeah, I understand why some people wouldn’t like it as much as I do.
