- Brighton has decided that college isn't for him, and he needs to tell Maxwell.
From Season 6 Episode 22, 'The Baby Shower'. When Val and Fran have their fortunes told at the beauty parlor, the psychic tells Fran that she sees Maxwell having an affair with a leggy blonde in a Beverly Hills hotel! Meanwhile, Brighton wants to take a year off before going to Harvard and is finding it difficult to tell Maxwell.

Because young people often like to take a break year to get their head in order before making a huge commitment to education.
why cant he take a break from school first? many ppl do gap years.

They took a job (my brother at a grocery store, my sister at a daycare center) instead of just travelling though.
