I have just discovered your channel. I am in month 4 of beard growth (the ugly stage) and your segment of black men beards was informative. My hair isn't super kinky and I'm 61, but my skin has always been good. Now that I'm growing a beard my skincare has become better, because of information from the likes of stations like yours. Thanks
Curly bearded Scotsman here, you're my beard mentor! Fantastic voice, advice, and a stand up bloke. Cheers! To many more videos a bright RUclips career.
Not gonna lie, the first minute I was watching the black Audi behind you weaving in and out of traffic trying to get by. That was pretty hilarious! Beard on!!
Mr. Bailey, I just stumbled upon your video and wanted to thank you. I have a semi- curly beard and will be subscribing to keep up with the advice that you give. It sounds like you have the heart of a teacher and my father always said that is the best way to learn from an expert. Also, congratulations on your 10,000 sub's.
Just been catching up on some of your vids. Saw your one about The Scottish Beard company and loved it. Being Scottish myself and quite patriotic at that I love to see Scottish company doing well. Especially love seeing how much you like their product. Anyway keep up the great work, peace✌🏻️
thanks for the advice! my beard is wicked curly and when I shaved off my beard earlier this year, I had the flaky skin issue. I have taken your advice on co-washing daily and its been wonderful. I also just watched your "Cross-training your beard for growth" video and plan on getting a shampoo brush in the very near future! thanks for everything!
great video, can't wait for the next one, maybe one day you can put a DVD together that's about complete beard care be great to have something to watch on TV to help show others
Hi George. Discovered and subscribed to your channel yesterday. Very informative and enjoyable. I am 66 years of age and rarely shave...I have kept my mostly grey beard quite short and trimmed over the last several years. My wife has commented several times (!) that the beard is 'pokey' and can irritate her face. So as of four weeks ago I decided to not trim my beard and grow it out. Our son who has just completed a barber course trimmed and shaved my beard/face one month ago as part of his course requirements and that is the date that I have taken on the big beard growing process. I will continue to get tips from your channel for beard care and for optimizing the look of a bigger beard. Thanks for the advice and information. JV.
Love your channel. I use your tips on my clients. I also work for myself and love helping ppl cause im good at it. You are amazing. i agree stinky scalps and loose skin in the beards is disgusting. i take pics and show my clients and then send them this link to watch and listen to you. Keep it up man!!
I always used to get zits beneath my beard. Now that I oil my skin and facial hair every day they are gone! Once we stop shaving we have to replace the daily skin scrape with skin care and oils work great!
Thank you for making videos like that , now a days we have a lot of stuff regarding womens but in that case men's are shy and careless , but with your help everyone who is watching you are trying to be better . Good luck sir and keep it up . we all want to see your more videos and in the end want to say that you are really handsome. love to see you .
I can't tell if my beard is curly or has just a serious wave. Time will tell as it gets longer. Let it grow and let it flow! I'll be making an appointment soon friend!
George, another great video! Thanks man! Two things. Yes I remember the smell of a perm when one woman gave the other a perm treatment. I puked and gagged! I was like 6 in 1961. Neighbor lady gave my ma one.. And second, grandpa's pine tar soap. Hell yes!! Wednesdays and Sundays. Love it!!
Thanks for this video. How long do you plan on letting your beard get, I wonder? My barber recommend paul mitchell conditioner for my beard. I've used it a couple times and liked it but I'm not sure what the long term effects could be. I wanted to grow my beard out so I spent less time in front of a mirror, but I'm not sure it reduces the time lol. Thanks again
Thanks for this particular video, I do enjoy all of them but as I have a curly beard this is great information. I do co-wash daily and use the Grandpa's. I'll be trying the twice a week increase I wonder though can you over comb/brush the beard? How often is too much? Congrats on reaching 10,000 subscribers!
Congrats on the 10K subscribers. Also I asked you a question on your BWB beach episode about what your parents thought about the big beard and the RUclips channel? Love your channel.
Great advices. I do not have an afro but, it's very curly. My beard is over a year old long and is so curly that it takes 30+ min to get ready every morning.
Another fine video. These always provide a nice pick-me-up, and in this case a bit of a wake up call. I think I'll start using Grandpa's soap twice a week now. Good work Mr. Bruno. What are your thoughts on Apple Cider Vinegar? I've been rinsing with it after washing my beard and hair, since I've read about mixed results from both Pine Tar and Castile soap.
Thank you for making this video. I've recently had concerns about my beard but wasn't sure if what works for others would work for an African-American beard. By the way, your beard here is incredible!
George, first congrats on 10K (awesome), thank you for the advice on (my kinky; curly beard). I'm following all your advice and love it, been doing grandpa tar pine soap twice, sometimes three times a week (work in a very nasty environment, railyard). And it took a little while but starting to see results from doing the castor oil/rosemary oil nightly. If you get the chance George, could you put together a video on how to trim (neaten up) a very, very, curly (almost kinky) beard. Taking your advice to love what God has given me as far as my beard, just frustrating sometimes. Take care my Sultan Brother and God bless......
Sultan, I watch your videos religiously and I'm pleased you're finally receiving the recognition you deserve - congratulations on reaching 10k! I have two questions for you: Would you be so kind as to tell me how to deal with a relatively curly beard? I'm a 24 y/o white male, my beard is four months old and is beginning to curl now that it's approximately 1/1.5 inches below my jawline - it's becoming increasingly more difficult to comb/brush two/three/four hours after I've applied oil/balm and brushed it as soon as I'm done showering. Additionally, from your experience, is pine tar, olive oil, cocoa butter soap the best to deal with flakey skin? Thanks, and peace be with you!
Question Sir, the Grandpa Pine Tar Soap, do I want the bar soap or a liquid ? Should I get the Shampoo and conditioner for use on the beard ?? Thank you sir
I have a curly/wavy beard and thank God it doesn't smell. I know way before it gets to that point that my beard needs to be co washed. I actually use argan oil in place of beard oil to style it. It serves both as a beard oil and as a heat protectant if I intend to straighten it with heat. I have gone on a low heat journey and have tapered off with straightening.
Love it thanks so much! Question early on I wanted a trim to not look as gnarly (now that I've found your channel I know better ways to care for it) but the barber cut way too much off the edges and now over a year later I have about two inches difference between the middle of my beard and the side length. Would you recommend trimming down the longer parts to let it all grow at the same length, or to let it continue it's course if my goal is just a natural (versus trimmed as you said in another video yours would be considered trimmed I believe in a beard contest) beard as long as I can get, going over 3 years now length? Thanks again for everything, this is helping tremendously
Congrats man, this channel is amazing. I have what I call a "hybrid beard" which means that my sides are really curly but the hair in my chin is kind of straight. I really struggle every day to make it look the way that I want, specially because my sides doesn't get along with a comb (it hurts, I need to apply lots of oil so I can comb my beard). Also in my town there's no good Barber, honestly, because there are not that many bearded men. I would love to have a proper consult with an expert like you. If you have any tip for a "hybrid bearded man" like myself, please tell me. Thanks and wish you nothing but success here
HI! I have very curly hair but I shampoo and condition my beard almost daily. In addition to that, I also use beard oil. I use the regular cheap shampoo and conditioner products sold in any beauty cosmetic shops. I've grown my beard for just under 4 months. Before I used beard oil my beard was dry and coarse but no its getting soft and looks thicker. But should i cut down on daily shampooing and conditioning?
Thank you, I needed this video. As a black man, my beard gets very curly under the chin is there any way to remedy this... what should black men do/use to get a soft healthy beard and minimalize curls?
+Black Privllege I usually tell guys to lay off on the soap or shampoo and only condition when in the shower. Then use Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap only once a week. The conditioner i use was developed by a lovely black woman for use on her hair when she went all natural. It's Eden coconut co-wash conditioner. Works like a miracle. Peace
Gray Bailey ...Mr. Bailey. Can't tell how old or recent the videos are. But do you currently have the long or medium beard currently? If medium, what made you take it down?
Just going over some of your old beard videos and I'm just wondering how you feel about pool chlorine? I own a big in ground pool and have always enjoyed it but it seems to dry out the beard. Just wondering if you have ever crossed the subject before?
Congrats on 10k subs! Question; which cowash conditioner would you suggest? I've been growing my beard for almost a year now and i'm a little over 4 inches but my beard isnt as soft as i'd like it. I use grandpa's pine tar soap every 4 days, and use beard oil daily but also try to go without any oil one day a week. Would really appreciate some suggestions on conditioner i could use 6 days a week. Thanks in advance. You're always an inspiration.
I am now a subscriber to your channel. Love the advise you give. I just started growing my beard 2 months ago so I have a long way to go but I am very patient. Thanks for the advise
Good information so what should I wash my bed twice a week cool wash it 4 times a week and use a beard balm oil and moisturizer good information once again you're on point peace
everything in this video is exactly what i was looking for thank you, what do you suggest for a healthier scalp? ive had this odor for about a month now and i feel like the flakes never go away, they just get less extreme and then come back
one side of my face doesnt have a complete set of hair follicles, trying to trim it early in the process didn't help either, one thing that has helped my yeard look fuller is brushing out from the bottom underside of the yeard to the top. yeah, i also cant really use too much heat, its so easy to damage or infect the skin underneath. care is top priority.
Wow George really hit the nail on the head with that one. Exactly my problem. Only thing is i'm a white guy with a fro beard its so thick my fingers cant even touch my skin anymore.
Mixed-race beard here, very thick spring-like follicles just like a ballpoint click-pen. I comb thoroughly about three or four times per day otherwise dreadlocks will begin, often a high maintenance style or not depending on what you like, used to sport one many years ago. To reduce the tiny knots forming almost by the hour it seems resulting in breakage use the widest-tooth comb you can find. Afro-beauty supply shops and salons sell them. One good wide-tooth comb with square-point teeth is all you need. If you're on a very tight budget horse mane/tail combs, picks, or rakes will do although they're often injection moulded, rough with sharp-pointed teeth and not ideal. I cannot use bushes of any kind. A weekly (sometimes twice per week) cleanse with Dr. Bronner's unscented baby-mild Castile liquid Soap, weekly beard oil and that's about it. When I shower I usually run water thoroughly through my bead without rubbing/scrubbing nor combing until after. However, I do comb-in the soap and finger- massage my skin also the square-points are very kind to your skin and follicle roots as well.
Lol super arrogant with the “surgeon” comment his steady hands and it’s “gods” gift. Still entertaining to watch. Thanks for the helpful tips for a beard
Can you explain more the difference between a cleanse routine and a co-wash? I clean, oil, and balm my beard everyday, and if I miss a day or two things get pretty dry real fast. Should I be doing any of these more or less often? (I do use pine tar soap...love it) I love your stuff and look forward to back from you!
I'm looking at making my own beard care products so that I have stuff that's chemical free and tailored to my tastes and needs. What are your thoughts on using hemp seed oil? It has all the essential fatty acids and is supposed to strengthen your hair.
Good day Sir. My beard is not curly, not straight, in the mornings after shower and after oil and balsam, looks great, 5 minutes later, start going different sides, I cannot keep it like yours looking good for at least few hours. Also now that my beard is growing more my chin is getting itchy, what I can do. Thank you, hope soon you have 10,000 more subscribers.
Hey, I'm new here, thanks... Great description of the tight curled kinky beard. Mine is years old and "autoregulates" its length, mustache included. I ended up with a habit of twisting it into locks for symmetry because I thought I shed too much even with a wide tooth comb. I started oiling it after seeing a couple of your vids (I previously refused oil.) After three days, it was a whole new beast. My only issue is it seems to pick up pipe smoke Way more easily now. Gonna have to be cautious. Thankyou though, inspirational beard lube has made an incredible change in day to day life. Probably going to try that soap. Thank God not dealing with beardcheese!
When did you first start growing facial hair and what age did your beard connect ? I'm 18 and I have a nice beard in my opinion but the only thing that is missing is that my moustache and beard don't connect. I know it will eventually connect with getting older but I'm just curious at what age did your beard connect
I'm a 76 yr old gentleman with a naturally wavy, curly large white beard. I found out I had a resemblance of Santa Claus. I began role playing Santa for donations to our local Animal Shelter. What a blast! I've noticed that as my beard has grown ( no trim or cutting of hair or beard for almost 2 years), that my beard has become very dry. I have tried nearly every beard grooming product. Still dry. I have watched many of your videos, and look forward to trying the tips and "recipes" you've shared on RUclips. Any suggestions for an old curly beard man who wants it to be soft and healthy again? Thanks for what you do.
How is your beard so straight? Mine got about 8 inches long and now just grows into a curl like it plateaued at a length but still grows. I really want to have it straighter to show its true length.
Congrats on the subscribers! I would like to know in what direction should I brush my beard under my chin? Also what are some solutions for thin beards? Meaning how do you get the hairs to grow in thicker?
You are literally my beard goal, sadly my beard isn't growing this nice and full yet....(hope it will at some point). My chin area is growing okish, around 12cm(~4-5 inches) after a year with slight trimming. My cheeks are at 5-6cm (2-3inches) after a year and my moustache isn't even close to being as full as yours. Nontheless really enjoying your videos, especially since in the beginning i didn't care for my beard at all, just let it grow and shampoo it 2-3 times a week with normal hair shampoo. You really opened my eyes for good beard and skin care feels so much better since than and looks healthier.
George I hve a question for you. My beard is odd....The hair that grows on my chin and direstly under my stach is curly. The hair that grows under my chin and my neck is straight. i use beard products like oil and balm. What do i do to make my beard uniform in texture ???
Hey sultan Is the brown soap company or the grandpas pine soap better? And with the grandpas, it comes as a soap bar. So just later in the hand and rub in your beard? Please get back to me I have a very curly tight beard and would love to loosen it up a little bit!
I would love to learn from you on hand to hand basic because my brother owns a barber shop here in RSA and I have no 1 to teach me how be a proper barber but I learn as I go I guess but love vids they help me out alot thanks
Hello Mr. Bailey !! Great info. thanks for that. I have a question for you, I try to stay on top of my beard as far as keeping it oiled and what not, however, what I find is my skin get a lot of white oily bumps underneath. Do you have any recommendations for avoiding this nuisance ? Thanks ! Peace
Mr Bailey, thank you for your knowledge and awesome beard I have been growing my beard it started out as just a goatee but now I have let it grow and let it flow my question is would any conditioner be OK to use or should I buy a specific one thank you, Alvin
So, I have a beard, that's been growing for 6 months now. Since I have been letting it grow for the second time, I have noticed it has been growing differently. Its probably typical. Now I have a beard that's unique. Because my dad is African American and my mother is Scottish and native American, I've noticed I have red, blond, and white hair in my black pirate color beard. Its interesting. I threw away bad beard products and started using coconut oil, and black Jamaican caster oil. My beard is both curly and wavy, and after I use a blow dryer to it, it looks rally nice. The problem I have is the growth under my beard is not as long as the wavy hair on my chin, it is more Corse, and it looks like I have a bald spot. The hair is shorter then the rest. It's irritating. I think its because of the clubman products I was using that kept the area from growing. My first time growing my beard, I didn't let that part grow, I shaved it and now I'm let in it grow. Any suggestions on how to get it on track?
very good advice just boughtsome co wash conditionner an some grand'pa pine tar soap . my beard is very curly from black african dad an got ginger color in it from white canadian mother
Hello Sultan i have a question. what do you think about minoxidil/rogaine ? iam 25 now and i have a spare beard. the sides and chin are okay but my moustache won't grow good and under the lips as well won't grow :( I admire guys with a beard like yours. Thanks and wish you a nice day:)
I'l read somewhere that coconut oil is also good for Hair & Skin. I am applying that combination of Castor oil and Rosemary oil daily on my inner skin of beard. My question is Can I apply coconut oil on outer side (like at starting part of beard) ????
Hey George! What was that thing you used to scrub your skin under the beard with in the shower ? i remember i saw it in a video but i am unsure which video
for a sec i thought he was gonna say "RISE AND SHINE MOTHERFUCKERS!" ah well
I have just discovered your channel. I am in month 4 of beard growth (the ugly stage) and your segment of black men beards was informative. 9/10 Audi drivers are a-holes where I'm from
I was watching that too. What cracked me up is that our dear sultan here seemed totally unaware.
@@dinniestones3058 Most drivers where I come from suck. (Chicago).
Great video, and much needed. As a Black Man, it's hard to find good things that teach us how to care for our facial hair.
Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers! You always teach and inspire! Thank you!
You re a true honest person man. I really like your content and honestly I even take you more serious than Beardbrand!
Mr. Bailey, I just stumbled upon your video and wanted to thank you. I have a semi- curly beard and will be subscribing to keep up with the advice that you give. Do you recommend combing a kinky beard like this or leaving it alone? my beard seems to grow together in a strand of like 5 hairs if i don't comb it.
WOW, PAPA thought he had an awesome beard, but your's is awesome awesome brother. Would love to get mine like that. Just learning about product.
Can you explain more the difference between a cleanse routine and a co-wash?
I clean, oil, and balm my beard everyday, and if I miss a day or two things get pretty dry real fast. Should I be doing any of these more or less often? (I do use pine tar soap...love it) I love your stuff and look forward to back from you!
watch his video "Cross-training your beard for growth" for more info on this subject!

The pine tar soap is excellent. 👍
I like having a shaven head and my beard makes its easy for me since I'm Mexican and Norwegian
That beard is looking real fine!
good stuff. thanks for all the advise. a link to some of these products would be helpful. keep up the good work
Hey, I'm new here, thanks...
+London Houston Just research what is good for skin. Hair will benefit too
I tried some of your tips and they work great for me..thanks for the way you explain it!!!
You are literally my beard goal, sadly my beard isn't growing this nice and full yet....(hope it will at some point).
My chin area is growing okish, around 12cm(~4-5 inches) after a year with slight trimming. My cheeks are at 5-6cm (2-3inches)
after a year and my moustache isn't even close to being as full as yours.
Nontheless really enjoying your videos, especially since in the beginning i didn't care for my beard at all, just let it grow and shampoo it 2-3 times a week with normal hair shampoo. You really opened my eyes for good beard and skin care feels so much better since than and looks healthier.
Andi Wirket his beard is probably 2 years I would say give it time man.
Really amazing beard you've got. Anyway, i have "problem" with curling sides of my beard. Let it grow and let it flow 👍
George I hve a question for you. My beard is odd....The hair that grows on my chin and direstly under my stach is curly. The hair that grows under my chin and my neck is straight. i use beard products like oil and balm. What do i do to make my beard uniform in texture ???
I have a dusty job. Should I use beard wash everyday or just use conditioner?
Hey sultan
Is the brown soap company or the grandpas pine soap better?

Thanks !
Peace
I think his name is Bruno🙄

Whoa!!! That beard sir.
Mr Bailey, thank you for your knowledge and awesome beard I have been growing my beard it started out as just a goatee but now I have let it grow and let it flow my question is would any conditioner be OK to use or should I buy a specific one thank you, Alvin
I think his last name is Bruno.🤔
Another great video. Thanks brother for you advice. Very helpful

Hello Sultan i have a question. what do you think about minoxidil/rogaine ? iam 25 now and i have a spare beard. the sides and chin are okay but my moustache won't grow good and under the lips as well won't grow :( I admire guys with a beard like yours. Thanks and wish you a nice day:)
why you fucking up cheating a beard
That is an amazing beard!
I'l read somewhere that coconut oil is also good for Hair & Skin.
I am applying that combination of Castor oil and Rosemary oil daily on my inner skin of beard.
My question is Can I apply coconut oil on outer side (like at starting part of beard) ????
Chintan Nedariya what would the reason be that you can't? Yes you can
To say that I'm jealous of your beard is a gross understatement.
