Thank you so much for this video. I'm a newly diagnosed diabetic and I was testing for the first time. I was becoming very frustrated because I'd tried three times (ruined three test strips) and it wasn't working I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Your video was a great help. Thank you again and take care.
Thank you so much - I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes and went to get my kit yesterday and no one was able to assist me in how to do this myself. Your video has made me feel so much more comfortable.
Of all the people on here showing how to check glucose your video was clearer .Even the nurse on here her video was not as good she needs to watch your video on how you explain the device .Thank you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video...even years later, it is still being watched. It is the basic instructions much needed. hope you are doing well. Sherri
Thank you. My Dad is a resident in a skilled nursing (use that loosely) home. He is 84, was diagnosed with diabetes during a recent hospital stay, and had not had 1 test since returning! They have him on medication. So I managed to secure a test kit. Lost as to how it worked.
Thank you for this video! This helped me learn how to test and teach me the tools on what I need to buy to to do it with. When I got GD my doctor gave me prescription for a meter and test strips only which I only got the meter approved and she didn't tell me I needed more items to test or explain anything really. I ended up having my son before I bought everything and the told me I didn't have diabetes when I got released from the hospital, but am having symptoms of my blood sugar still being off. I have to buy a new meter cause the test strips alone for the meter insurance gave me are $80 for 50 on top of other stuff I have to buy. I am now buying the cheaper one at Walmart and the other stuff I need. So thank you for this!
My doctor recommends this kit as it is more convenient than going back to the hospital all the time for weekly monitoring...thank you for the video...I have now an idea what needs to be done.
For anyone who was having the same problem as me. I kept not getting a reading so I poked myself about 7 times. I realize my error was that I was putting the blood on top of the testing strip (the gold part) where it actually needs to be on the side of the paper because then the blood goes between the papery layers and gets tested.
Wipe off first spot of blood off your finger and use the second drop for an accurate reading . Should have mentioned blood sugar level less than 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L) is normal. A reading of more than 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) after two hours indicates diabetes. A reading between 140 and 199 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L and 11.0 mmol/L) indicates prediabetes.
@@ayushsinghay my god! That's so awesome. Great work and my salutes to a future IAF hero. Cheers and best of luck. So proud. Thanks in advance. Jai Hind.
It is best after pricking your finger to get a clean blood sample, is to wipe away the 1st bead of blood 🩸 and raise a 2nd bead of blood and wipe clean once more. Use the 3rd bead of blood for your test. You can often see a variation sometimes dropping 30 points or more in the last blood bead sample.
Thank you so much. I wasted 3 strips as I kept trying to get blood out from the top of my finger and it would produce a tiny drop of blood. Not enough for the strip. The side of my finger was less painful and produced enough blood to get a reading. I'm super happy it worked
Great video and well done. Great and helpful responses too. Just found out have diabetes at 47. To Ayman, I freaked, but we move on, and stay focused on the good things we have. I had OCD/Acute Anxiety like at 6 yrs olds, and it sucks. I freaked too at first, but you'll get through it I am sure, just a little comment, for what it's worth. Best of luck to you all and thanks again for informative video. Peace.
Thank you for this. I don't have diabetes officially but I have a genetic condition that messes with my insulin and blood sugar. I'm trying to catch a hypoglycemic episode for my doctor and this is an actual life saver
Lastly, any injuries or accidents may provide a chance to perform a quick blood sugar test, providing that the injury doesn't impede movement of hands or fingers, and that any hemorrhaging can be directed to the test strip.
Where there’s a red tip color, and if it doesn’t read properly meaning the strip is not push enough to do the readings, just sharing my experience as I’m also new with this gadget,,,,
Yeah it’s horrible no cure probably because it’s big business for big pharma how many Diabetics around the world and everywhere you go there is sugar products . Who would’ve thought sugar could be such a killer .
Thanks for this video, I use the Freestyle Libre sensor with Ambrosia NightRider to check the glucose levels on the phone and sometimes I use watch to monitor the levels.
I was just newly diagnosed yesterday and I'm totally depressed, freaked out and overwhelmed about what I should eat. Feeling paranoid to put anything in my mouth since yesterday. Had just a handful of nuts since then and that's it. I'm clueless.
Cheers for this, I've been looking for "up up blood glucose meter monitoring system" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Armfristiam Glorious Asset - (search on google ) ? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering how to stop your diabetes issue without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my friend got great success with it.
There is no quick cure like this other commenter. There is a group on Facebook called type 2 diabetics lchf in the picture and description (it means low carb high fat). There is a ton of info on what to do to get control of your diabetes to where you can stop meds and manage with diet alone. There are groups similar in name so make sure you join the one that is lchf! The other support things that can raise your bs numbers. There are two sister groups one is for support and one for recipes. There is a while chart for compatible foods you can buy that won't mess with your bs. Good luck.

Yes, non-diabetics can do this too. I am non-diabetic, but I suffer from reactive hypoglycemia. If I eat, my blood sugars go extremely low. This tool is not only used by diabetics.
@AnabolicMutant not all areas in your body are highly vascular. for adults, the side of the finger is chosen because it is highly vascular and contains less nerve endings. for babies, the heel of the foot is chosen. also, the side of the finger is less sensitive to pain while the tip of the finger has a dense nerve supply. the puncture site always matters because any alteration can affect the results.

What is 3.6? In the USA we are using 70-130 mg/dl as the normal range.

3.6...WTF....? even 64 is way low.
In the US, 3.6 is 64.8
