November 2021 my HgbA1c was 7.2. In January 2022 I saw a RUclips video from Beat Diabetes followed by one from Dr Ken Berry. I decided then to adopt a very low carb way of eating. By September my HgbA1c was 5.3 and I had reduced Metformin ER from 2000mg to 500mg. I had also stopped my weekly Trulicity 1.5mg injections. Of course I was checking my blood sugar before and after meals as well as fasting so I knew I could safely taper my meds. I am now off all meds and my last HgbA1c in January 2023 was 5.2
Amazing!! You have reversed and fought diabetes succesfully, good for you! I hope and wish my numbers will be lower as i am doing the best i can nowadays, its a struggle but we should choose health over the struggles. Worst for me is avoiding rice 😭 im an asian, that means rice is everywhere and always on the table. Soooo difficult to resist.
@@TheMrsdharmalou It is tough. One of the videos I watched said to cook your rice on low then put it in the fridge for 24 hours then use it. That is supposed to do something to the resistant starch so you can eat it. You may want to try it and keep track of your glucose just to see if it will work. One of these days I am going to try it. Best of luck to you.

And after dinner around 100-120. Slowly getting it back to normal I hope I’ll know when I get rechecked. Also went from 20mg of blood pressure medicine daily to zero meds and run around 115/75 now

@Lady Die m not sure I understand your question? I havent edited my blog today, so no photo should have disappeared. Are you concerned an image is showing an elevated blood sugar level? If so, it is to illustrate what a glucose meter looks like and not the desired number
This is all new to me. My A1 is 6.4 and 110-115 after a 12 hour fast I an overweight 238. I’m not on medication at the moment . I’m on a no sugar low carbs diet and see my doctor in 1 month.
I dropped my AIC from 11.4 to 5.1 and lost 132 lbs in the process of turning my T2D around. I did this in under a year and have maintained this healthy lifestyle for 20 months. I know many say they’ve reversed their T2D but I prefer to say it’s in remission because I know that if I don’t stay on top of my T2D it can come roaring back again and I never want to live that way again.
I've been carnivore 12 months. A few weeks ago my HbAlc was 6.3 (according to my doctor). Since then I've tested my blood glucose levels three times a day (fasting and post prandial) - between 4.8-5.0 without fail. If you are carnivore, do your own testing.
I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes April 12, 2023. My A1c was 8.5. I’ve made some changes in my eating habits which includes laying off sodas and snacks as well as a thirty minute walk after dinner . I also take 500 ml of metforrmin. My numbers are usually in the 80s or 90s, but rarely go past 111. Of course these numbers are usually a fasting number in the morning and a closing number in the evening. Even when I was doing a midday measurement, my numbers mostly stayed within this range. I suppose this is progress, but I’m still early in this new journey and still have lots to learn.
My A1c 15.6 when I was diagnosed with diabetes due to my love for juices. When I discovered that I had diabetes, I was literally going blind. I have been hovering 5.6 to 5.8 for the past several years now...I walk about 10K to 30K steps a day.
Thank you!! This was very informative. (The music was quite distracting for me, though. Maybe it is just my computer, but it seemed to be as loud as your voice.)
I was diagnosed a year ago last April, I was at 93 mmol. Prescribed metformin starting low and increasing to the max. I was also diagnosed with haemochromatosis. Now off all diabetes meds, just on ramipril and simvastatin for blood pressure and cholesterol. My latest A1c was 42 mmol without meds, however I have managed this without any support team, the doctor who diagnosed me left and there is no permanent replacement, only locums. No dietician, no endocrinologist, no training offered, just two URLs to look at. The diabetes nurse didn't give me any target figures, just said I had no need to test, it seems the NHS thinks that an annual A1c test is all that is needed. I wasn't happy with that and bought a glucometer and once they stopped my metformin I decided to spend more money on a CGM to teach myself what I can and shouldn't eat. An expensive decision but I seem to have my type 2 diabetes under control, for now anyway. I do feel thathere in the country in the UK there isn't enough support and am so glad that Facebook groups and RUclips exist, as long as you can pick out the good info. from the bad you can educate yourself and keep on top of things.
Was recently diagnosed with type 2, I'm a survivor of Pancreatic cancer with only 20% of my pancreas. Struggling like everyone else to bring my numbers down to a normal range! Metformin and diet, but I am also very thin and trying to keep my weight up as well, thanks for helping, learned a lot!

i was just diagnosed with Diabetes my AC! is 7.5 and I'm so scared. i don't know what foods are good but I'm so glad I found this channel. I'm on a mission to eat better and live.
I am "pre".... doctor suggested meds...I said no. Did some research...you can do this naturally.... I eliminated sugar and bread (except on rare occasions when I treated myself)...skip any food that is white in color...add a couple glasses of water every day. Start walking every day. I saw results within 2 weeks. Also add a tblspn of organic apple cider finger to glass of warm water before bed. Good luck.
Not one word about the "dawn phenomenen",which is a very real thing for me.I watch a you tube channel called "Beat diabetes" which has helped me a whole lot.I"m prediabetic and have learned soo much from the "Beat diabetes" vids.
Thank you. This was very informative. I was just diagnosed with type2. A1c 6.7. As of now l am managing my diet and trying to do some of exercise daily. At age 77 it becomes difficult.
I have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes some two years ago, but let it slip because of the confusing information on the net, invluding all those warnings about metformin. Now I had a level of 250 and a HgbA1c of 7,5. Now of course insulin and diet change etc. I wish I had a better explanation two years ago and a measurement device to really understand how sugar works in my body.
Great video explanation, I always wanted to know those units used, it's 'milligrams per deciLiter' = mg/dL. Remember also that the GLUCOMETER NUMBER DISPLAY uses another conversion unit to 'milliMoles per Liter' = mMol/L.
This is the best information I have received since I was told I was diabetic 5 years ago. I have the crappiest insurance plan there is in America. The local health department will not take the insurance, and I must travel to the next county to seek medical help. There is no diabetic care team for me; I am on my own. When the time comes, they will not chop my feet off; I would rather be dead. Thank you for this video. I will follow this as closely as I can.
Thank you for the video, I was diagnosed 2 months ago with T2D Most of my testing are done before I take break fast and its between 98 and 115. Am still learning how to live with and control my diabetes.
98 - 115. You're not diabetic. You reach out the limit. And if you are older than 60. It's a pretty good result. The older you are blood sugar is a bit higher than younger people
So, I need to know. Just recently my fasting glucose level was over 100 for the first time. It was 107. However, this was also a time of high stress and little sleep because my wife had our first baby. My doctor told me to take an A1C test. The results just came back. My fasting glucose level is now 105 and my A1C is 5.3. What does it mean?
I’m 16 and I have type 1 diabetes and I haven’t been taking my insulin. I haven been feeling good at all. So I’m going to start taking care of myself and take my insulin from now on
Thank you . Just got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I’ve been so confused. Just today asked for an appointment for a nutritionist. I’m checking my blood in the morning and ranging about 119 to 126. One day I had 140. What do you do if you’re too high??? Thank you so much to help clear up so much confusion.
Was diagnosed with type 2 last year. I have been using a CGM for monitoring my blood sugar and trying to make better choices based on it, but I’m still struggling. What struck me in this video is the amount of times “working with your diabetes care team” was mentioned. Do people really have entire “diabetes care teams”? What kinds of people are part of these teams?
I'm type II. My daily goal is 80-100. My A1C goal is low 5. Three months ago it was 5.9. I get an A1C check in four days. Hopefully it will be mid to low 5. Ozembic has helped.
I was prescribed Ozempic to help lower my A1C... But refuse to take it because of the side effects I've heard about... Have you had any side effects from taking that medication?
6 mo ago Dr A1C at 6.4 and my blood sugar at 124. Dr said will check again in 6mo. That fired me up. Changed my lifestyle getting exercise and eating low carb. Im 78 and my weight was 210 and is now 170. My morning fasting BS after getting up has been 95-96. 2 hrs after meal still usually at 100. So I will get tested next week and am expecting better reading at everything because of what Ive done. My A1C has not been below 6.0 previous and my triglycerides always high also. Truly Im expecting to see an A1C at least at 5.7.
Dropping alcohol was one of the biggest helps for me to start getting readings where I wanted them. Also dropping ranch dressing from my salad and adding extra virgin olive oil plus including other good fats.
Age 63 and reversed mine by eating under 10g a day....gave up all processed foods, all fruits which spike my glucose, all sugar. Used eating windkw of 6 house nothing before noon and nothing after 6pm. A2c down from 10.5 to 5.1 and maintained for last year.bahe 63 and have more energy than last 30 yrs! It can be scary, but you will do great. Frequent testing is so helpful! If you have any questions ask! I also have some videos on best snacks and best meal ideas you may find helpful too :)
Hi Erin, thanks for a great video. I have a quick question. When it said 1,2 or 5 hours after meals, does it start when we finished eating? Let's assume it takes about 30 mins to finish the meal, so that means 1,2, or 5 hours after 30 mins meals? Thank you Erin.
Thank you Erin. Also Erin, I am curious about the blood sugar. Why can't we set that normal blood sugar to 140 all the time? My confusion is, when we fast, our blood sugar max is 99/100 but after meals our blood sugar max is 140 after 1 or 2 hous. It To me, that is over than 40 because of the food we eat but does that means that within 1 or 2 hours our blood has too much (over 40 mg/dl) if we set that fasting normal blood is 100? sorry for the confusion but I am curious between these two conditions whether before meals or after meals. Thank you Erin for your experise.
I am so glad I found your channel. It wasn’t my primary doctor that told me after so the testing he did on me that I was prediabetic. It was another doctor, and I knew nothing about what to do, how to control it, check it, nothing. Diabetes runs in my family, and I just kept drinking those sodas and baking all of those sweets. Now, I’ve found you, and in just one video, you’ve helped me immensely. So, thank you so much for making all of your videos to help us.
I'm a newly diagnosed diabetic because of a pregnancy induced pancreatitis attack. I'm trying hard to reduce my dependence on insulin naturally. I would love to know when the best time frame to have my appointments should be. My endocrinologist will only look at the last 7 days from my CGM. He was frustrated with me for not taking my short term insulin when I've been trying to work on reducing it. I successfully dropped my A1C by 4 points in the two months between my appointments but he still didn't like seeing the spikes in glucose on my monitor. Despite my 2 hours after meals being within normal range (under 130). I strongly suspect that the hormone cycle for females determines added response. So i would like to plan my next appointment with him around a time the blood sugars are at their lowest if he's only going to look at a 7 day record. Otherwise, i would rather work with a new physician that's going to support me working naturally on lowering this. Would this be the week of my period that they are lowest? I know it's certainly not the week before.
Yes! In the US we use mg/dL vs mMol/L like in Europe. There is an easy conversion calculator here too if that is helpful www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-sugar-converter.html
The home glucose indicator device and when doing a blood test at the lab on the same morning can defer by 0.4-0.7 means if your home indicator was 4.7and a lab blood test can read 5.2
Over 6 months ago. I was diagnosed with diabetes. I guess I been a diabetic for years. I just didn't know it. My a1c, came in at a whopping 16.5.....yes it was kinda high to say the least. My Dr, kept on asking if o felt odd? I didn't. He bluntly told me. You should be dead. My answer. Well not. I was drinking 9 to 11 sodas a day. Not including candies donuts and everything that isn't good for you. I don't eat vegetables or anything healthy. Long story short. In a 180 day, period. Taking insulin and metformin. Plus I hate needles. I cut out all sugar. But I still ate at all the fast food places that I'm use to eating at. Now I just eat smaller portions. Well after the 180 days period. I get a call from my Dr. I went in on a Monday, for my labs. On Thursday, I get the call. My doctor, was surprised. Because I had told him and the dietitians that I was going to get my sugar levels down. My way. And my Dr. Said that my a1c, levels came back at. 5.6.....and I asked is that good? His answer was this. My colleague are all scratching thier heads trying to figure this out. But the numbers don't lie. I feel great. I use to wake up every hour on the hour to use the restroom. I couldn't drive more than 30 minutes without pulling over. That is the biggest change that I noticed. I can sleep all night. And not wake up to use the restroom. I still eat junk food. Just not like before. Still no vegetables. I don't see that happening. All fast food is still on the daily menu for me. My point is to the rest of you. It can be done. I did it. And I didn't even have to go to the extreme. I do not drink sodas anymore. It was tough at first. Like shaking and not having alot of energy. I really never took naps during the day. Now I do sometimes. But very few. Don't give up. For me giving up was not a option. I love challenges what can I say. This one was no different. All I was better was my life. In all honesty. It was a wake up call. I'm in my mid fiftys. And I'm feeling great. I had one hell of a Dr.
My blood sugar hit 49 before for a low and I hate having low because you can’t do much so I wish we wouldn’t have low blood sugars because I’m scared of low blood sugars because yeah 😢

Do I turn-on the little Monitor before I insert the test-strip? or, does it turn-on automatically upon the insertion of the test-strip? Thank You, SharonZ WA

I always have normal blood sugar levels for fasting, however after a meal it’s in the range 160. Usually by the 1 hour it drops to 85 quick making my hungry and I start getting shaky . What could this mean? I don’t eat fast food or even drink coke or not even alcohol.
I would discuss this with your doctor. It could mean you have insulin resistance/prediabetes and they can do blood work to check for this. Was it recommended previously that you check your blood sugar after eating? The rapid drop could also be a sign you might benefit from working with a dietitian to stabilize blood sugar levels so you feel better after meals as well :)

I got a blood sugar test kit this morning and my level was 302mg and I hadn't ate anything yet and only drank half a bottle of water. Now idk if I should go see a doctor or just try to cut out sugar in my rinks and food.
Use a glucometer to find out what spikes your glucose!! I found out oatmeal and bananas are the worst!! Pretty much eat meat, lots of butter , occasionally non starchy vegetables and salad
The A1C blood test sounds a bit bogus to me. I don’t understand how one test can show an average blood glucose over a three month period. It would make better sense to take a test daily, then find an average.
yes definitely can be dawn phenomenon, or additional things such as lack of sleep or your evening meal choices. This article I wrote may help: erinpalinski.com/why-is-my-blood-sugar-high-in-the-morning/
I been testing my blood sugar levels just started today and i was 86 hour after gym. Then ate and hour later 96 but I didn’t have a carb rich meal at all today. I’m also pregnant and i was prediabetic before becoming pregnant. So now im just trying to stay active. But they saying basically my a1c went from 5.7 to 5.8 im not sure if that’s simply because it was two separate doctors who tested me or if i am creeping up on diabetes charts
I wouldn't worry too much. Both of those are normal readings and blood sugar will fluctuate throughout the day. As long as you look at the average trend of blood sugar over time and see it is staying within normal ranges, I wouldn't worry too much. But definitely monitor & follow your doctor's instructions, especially during pregnancy - congratulations!
I joined the club for type 2 , they precribe me 500 mg of Metamorphin in the morning and one taken before bed . It made me feel so thirsty throughout the day drinking tons of water . I reduce the intake of only 500mg. and that did the trick , still thirsty , but not as Bad as before . I am looking to replace it with Berbidine . and see if that is better for me .
I'm 28 years old my blood sugar is 91 is it possible that I have diabetes If I experience some symptoms of diabetes such as numbness at night, itching despite this blood sugar level I have?
Definitely ask your physician to check more than just fasting levels. An A1c test can give you much better insight, especially with symptoms. But those symptoms may be coming from other reasons as well.
I have been neglecting getting a check-up of my t2 diabetes, but trying to eat properly, i have testing kit but again not been using it, today 1st march had breakfast at 8.30 cornflakes small banana but didn't check till 1.30, it was 143 is this worrying, i am 77.
Yes that is an indication of pre diabetes or diabetes. Seek a doctor. Dont eat bananas or any fruit unless it’s dragon fruit and small piece . You need oils proteins and small amount of carbs in the am. Get a scale and invest in a CGM if you can’t afford one get a glucose monitor. Seek real medical advice since I am not a doctor but some one with pre diabetes who invested in a CGM

@@seynaboumar697 drops carb and sugar, but most importantly intermittent fasting . At least 16 hours fasting every day. You Will be fine.
How on earth did you do this?
Thank you! And I appreciate the feedback! The newer videos dont have the background music anymore :)
Great info - music makes it hard to hear you and is distracting.
Thank you so much for this amazing information I just felt the music was a little distracting
A little? A LOT!
Thank you for letting me know what is normal blood sugar level
Was recently diagnosed with type 2, I'm a survivor of Pancreatic cancer with only 20% of my pancreas. Struggling like everyone else to bring my numbers down to a normal range! Metformin and diet, but I am also very thin and trying to keep my weight up as well, thanks for helping, learned a lot!
I tired gluconize and it's good you look it up on Google
I empathise with you greatly . I hope you heal. Keep eating healthy and keep a positive mindset.❤
You’ve brought sense to the scary world I’m now in ,thank you for shedding light on it
I am so glad this was helpful to you!
Very informative. I started Ozempic and my A1C went from around 10.5 to 7
Ozempic is really not a safe way to heal yourself. Google the side effects.
Thank you for explaining things so clearly.
Your videos are really helping me (personally)not feel so anxious.
I am SO happy to hear that! Thank you so much for sharing that & if there are any topics you'd like to learn more about, please let me know. Thank you!
i was just diagnosed with Diabetes my AC! is 7.5 and I'm so scared. i don't know what foods are good but I'm so glad I found this channel.
Good luck.
@@jesi3336 yes I got my A1C from 7.5 to 6.9 in three months . Still working on it.

This video was very helpful! I am in the prediabetes range and I am on a journey to get myself healthier.
Best explanation on RUclips - Thank you so much ❤
I like your way of explaination. Always very light given, interesting and precisely! Compliments )
Thank you for your comprehensive explaination on everything on blood sugar tests all in one video.
Thank you, sweet lady, for the great info. Now I finally understand the ranges so much better!
You have been such a help to me with this video! I’ve been having a hard time, trying to figure out where my levels should actually be.
Thank you for the explanation of A1C. Very helpful.😊
Thank you for the video, I was diagnosed 2 months ago with T2D
Most of my testing are done before I take break fast and its between 98 and 115. Am still learning how to live with and control my diabetes.
98 - 115. You're not diabetic. You reach out the limit. And if you are older than 60. It's a pretty good result. The older you are blood sugar is a bit higher than younger people

My A1 C was 7 percent and my blood sugar was 302 when I was diagnosed. Now i have changed my diet completely. I am 55years old
So wonderful to hear the progress you are making!!
It means you are doing an excellent job of controlling your blood sugar..........
I’m 16 and I have type 1 diabetes and I haven’t been taking my insulin. I haven been feeling good at all. So I’m going to start taking care of myself and take my insulin from now on
Not taking insulin as a Type 1 is a fast lane to pushing up daisies and dandelions. Cuidado!
You can have pre-dawn affect..
Eat fewer carbs..........
Exercise
Don't eat past 7 pm at night
Boy am I glad I found your channel! Vert helpful. Thank you. Sub fan for sure!
No cgm is going to lower your A1c these people are scammers
Thank you for the info .My blood sugar is 10.00 is that bad.
Great video . Very helpful info . Would have been able to absorb the info a lot better without the distracting music in the background.
Thank you so much for this video. I was just recently diagnosed with T2D and I'm learning how to adjust and how to reverse the diagnosis.
Oh I am so glad you found it helpful! I know it can be so overwhelming to get that diagnosis. If you have any questions, just ask!
You can test every 3 months to see where blood sugar levels are. Your A1C is the average over 3 months.
@@lggordon9970 yes very good advice! A1c every 3-6 months and also discuss with your healthcare team is home glucose monitoring might be right for you now as well. I find this very helpful for my clients with prediabetes.
Do the glucose/insulin curve test of course after fasting glucose And HBAC1

Please may I just say Thank you so much for such an informative video. I myself have just been diagnosed with Pre - Diabetes something I name a “ a wake up call “ so to speak. Is is good to have a glucose monitor at hand if you have been diagnosed as Pre - Diabetes as really there no other way of checking what your daily level are without one of these machines. Thank you.
Can't do that background music while she's talking, I thought it was just an 'intro' thing, but it keeps going on and on.
Thank you. I recently lost 70 pounds and my numbers have gotten better but I still get spikes from time to time. My Dr just had me start reintroducing some carbs and it got me freaking out a little lol
It can be scary, but you will do great. Frequent testing is so helpful! If you have any questions ask! I also have some videos on best snacks and best meal ideas you may find helpful too :)
Thanks so much for the info it was very helpful.
Great question! Timing starts at the first bite :) So you would test 1 hour or 2 hours after the 1st bite of the meal
Watch Eating You Alive. My fasting glucose levels have dropped 20 points in only a few weeks of wfpb-no oil diet. So powerful!
She’s so sweet and nice my blood sugar just went up .
How do you know. I'm now taking three readings per session and they often vary between say 5.8 and 7.1
It tells me these things aren't reliable
My AC1test was normal 5.1% but then my blood sugar on the same test was 65 and it was low
I'm in Ireland and our reading for blood sugar levels is different 5 and under is normal
Yes! In the US we use mg/dL vs mMol/L like in Europe. There is an easy conversion calculator here too if that is helpful www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-sugar-converter.html
Can lemon water after every meal help to lower blood glucose level?
The home glucose indicator device and when doing a blood test at the lab on the same morning can defer by 0.4-0.7 means if your home indicator was 4.7and a lab blood test can read 5.2
Great info, but the music is too loud. It's hard to hear what you saying.
Such a great video!!!

I've never been diagnosed with diabetes but I've been noticing that I've been peeing a lot lately... like 10-15 times in a day! I got a blood sugar test kit this morning and my level was 302mg and I hadn't ate anything yet and only drank half a bottle of water. Now idk if I should go see a doctor or just try to cut out sugar in my rinks and food.
Definitely call your doctor and see them right away. That could be a very dangerous blood sugar level if correct. Don't wait
@HealthyMomHappyFamily ok thank you! I'm going to continue to check it throughout the day today so I can give them my range.
My A1C is 8.3, wat is the range my blood sugar be at
Use a glucometer to find out what spikes your glucose!!
Exactly.
So for me (not diabetic) my blood sugar comes down to 77-84 2 hours after eating. Is that desirable?
What does it mean if I have a fasting blood sugar that would be considered pre diabetes, but my blood sugar goes down after I eat?
I know i am diabetic, but want to know are level between 200 to 250 after lunch very bad ?

yes definitely can be dawn phenomenon, or additional things such as lack of sleep or your evening meal choices.
