Had purchased the Rod(s) from Dollar General & this is what he noticed about their Rods:
Go figure. I have three sets of the exact same rods from Dollar General and none of them have the insert to place in the tube to make the decorative end-piece fit tight. All three packages are missing that O-ring that fits inside the larger rod in order to be able to use the extender. UPDATE: The O-Ring insert is hidden inside the small rubber end piece you take off one of the rods. It is not in the bag with the screws and brackets.

6 years later you still out here saving lives. Took me an hour to figure out how to put 3 rods together...😂 I thought I was losing it.
8:15 am 9/25/2018 I struggled for ten minutes to do this. Usually after 10-15 minutes I know to go to RUclips and find a how to video. Your video was a blessing to me the first and only one I needed to watch. To get my rod up with my beautiful drapes!!!! I’m happy now

You are a genius and I am so grateful for this video I only got 2 minutes in and I figured out the stupid curtain rod from Target. It's a different curtain rod than you're using but for you to say that that middle piece is not the extension piece just saved me from throwing this entire project out the window.
