I’ve ridden coil since about 92, I didn’t ride my first air shock until I purchased my 21 Intense Carbine. I’m converting it to coil when my funds are right.
@@jacksondaniels8169 I’m going to ship off my air shock to get fixed and then I’d like to do some back-to-back testing to figure out which one I’ll choose, but it’s looking like coil right now.
I ride in really rocky conditions I have a upgraded polygon D5 and I tried a good rockshox and I was using coil shocks on my other bikes I can tell you the coil shock is so much better it moves and tracks the terrain so much better faster than the air shocks and it feels so smooth. coil shocks in the rough shine!
Thanks for the deets on the shocks! Ive returned 4 gopro 11 mini on my FPV drones. i moved on too, no more gopro. Thank god for that Best Buy warranty.
I put a coil shock on my trail bike and it transformed it into a different bike. So plush yet fast with the better small bump compliance and rear tire contact.
I've just swapped my new bike float x out for the 2024 X2 what a difference! The comfort levels just went beyond what I was expecting it feels more coilish than my solid feeling float X I'm just amazed at the difference how difference it is now so much nicer to ride now! Still want the DHX2 aswell though
@@Emtbtoday I loved my X2 until it started having issues. I think the X2 shack was designed for pro racers that get the shock rebuilt after each race. It works great, but hard to service and I’m no longer going to recommend the X2 for the average everyday rider like myself
I don't think I've seen any videos comparing cheap air shocks to cheap (same brand) coil shocks, then working up to the top end shocks. Eg. DNM AOY-38RC and Dnm RCP-2S. Their air shock is for XC/AM, the coil for Freeride/DH. Then you move up to top end air shocks designed for tougher riding to show how they've progressed. Their action and longevity. And the differences between them and too end coil shocks. I think at each stage of budget there would be significant difference you can isolate simply between being air or coil. Not just in terms of quality/budget.
Coil actually is poppier than air shocks, their difference is linesr vs progressive. Coil is consistent while air shocks tend to keep changing the poppiness due to heat build up.
Funny I also have a polygon but it's an N8E.. My Fox Float shock also went out and I got it sent under warranty bought a marzocchi bombers call shock ( from Lost Co .and I love it... I never use the firm on my shot anyways so I don't mind not having it.. but I am loving my coil shock
Nice video, thank you. I just mounted my DHX2 on my Heckler. My doubt is about the HSR and LSR, because in the Fox settings table for my weight, it suggests using 0-1 clicks or 1-3 clicks. I think it’s very close. I’m using a 700lbs spring, and I weigh 100kg.
@@RedRoulette I’d go with Fox recommendations then go for a ride. Do one lap with Fox recommendations, then add more clicks and see if it feels better or worse. Sorry, pretty generic advice LOL to be honest, I hate messing with my suspension. I’m a set and forget it
The Cain creek vault progressive spring is super nice imo. Never have I tried a normal and not progressive spring but I’m sure it would be similar. I had a marzochi cr coil shock on my SC Nomad but it really feels more dead in a way which is super nice for a ton of gnar and braking bumps but it doesn’t feel as poppy. But I think suspension design has a big impact (maybe more than the shock) I gotta say the air shocks to me feel more poppy imo. The coil shocks I love for bike park days, but I’d prefer a lighter setup for the majority of the time. I have an evil offering (140mm rear travel) and have been completely satisfied with a Rockshox super delux shock. I’d love to try a coil on the rear one day though.
I have 5 Hero 11 Mini's. If I have a problem first thing I do is reset by holding power button down for 20 seconds. If problem persists, I leave Mini on until battery dies, then keep pressing power until red light no longer comes on. It's the same thing as removing the battery in any other GoPro. Charge back up and you're good to go. I actually returned one before l figured this out. Mini's are great cams.

@@JaredHoff Also, the Mini's need a slight bit of airflow. Consider spacing it away from the chest mount with a short extension so that the heat sink on the back can get some cool air.
Everything you just described makes me think they might not be that great... I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get my expensive camera working.

@@CP-qx2ff each bikes suspension design is setup a certain way. There’s no way to mount it backwards on this bike because the hardware is so different on each side of the shock. Check out the first coil video I made to get a closer look.

Didn't I say you were gonna love it? I find that it is better on jumps and much more poppy and playful than my old air shock it also soaks up the gnar and chatter. I'll never go back.

I have air and coil on different bikes. They each have a different feel. Coil is probably better, but I prefer the air because I’m lazy and it’s easier to dial. If I raced I’d go coil.

Insta 360 are the best for sure along with the DJI action cameras. I’m salty because I baught their failed product the GoPro Karma which literally flew away by insepf and never found it and GoPro wouldn’t admit any fault. I wasn’t the only one this happened to.
About the weight I had my X-Fusion H3C shock out for cleaning while listening to this with the valt Cane Creek progressive spring its 698 grams, so I took the same lenght DVO -topaz- jade sorry, with the light steel coil and the Olhins too, respectively : 733 grams and 618, Olhins wins 😂 It's really double of a dps in average but tbh it's not even that noticeable... *All in trunnion 185x55 for my giant trance x29
@@Bike4adventure dang. Sorry to hear that you’re having that issue. How long are you leaving it recording in 8k for? I usually only record short clips. It’s a pain to edit 30minutes on riding footage anyway 😂
@@Bike4adventure I see you have a RUclips channel and looks like you’ve been posting videos. One small tip I would give is don’t record without a story in mind. Then only hit record for short clips that will help you tell that story. But that’s just my humble opinion from what works for me. I’ve tried filming my whole ride and piecing together a story of the ride after and it never turns out well.
@@jonathanzumwalt4392 only issue with that is the extra weight. Weight on the shock isn’t as bad because the weight is lower and/or more centered on the bike. But wouldn’t want that extra weight on the fork. Maybe I’d like it though 🤷🏼♂️

Coil is far superior to air ......only when the bike is s proper progressive design. Linear bikes like the over priced Pivots need an air shock to perform.
All i know is fr 160/150 coil life! My go pro has failed at 5/5 enduro races this year. Really bummed me out ands robs everyone of my amazing riding 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i only dip into double blacks and danger snicklers. BoooooIiinnnnggg squish sqish

The firm/soft lever is related the damper not the spring (air or coil). Spring type really on matters on the downhill.

Is the shock backwards? Usually the lighter part of the shock is what moves with the rear triangle.

My Insta 360 x4 has been saying its overheating while riding with lots of airflow, I'm thinking dgi might be the way to go.

Most of it boils down to set up. A bad set up can ruin your ride no matter what suspension you have.
