- If you use Instagram, I bet you know the frustration of trying to get recipes from photo captions into Paprika App. For a while, I gave up on the whole thing, but I've done a bit of digging recently and here's my quick paprika tutorial with a foolproof way to get those recipes downloaded and into your recipe manager. This is a quick walkthrough and probably best viewed on desktop or ipad so you can see the clicks. I hope it saves you some frustration and captures you some lovely recipes.
Here's the link to the squash recipe featured in the tutorial:

As of 1/2/24 this hack is still working. Thank you soooo much! Just brilliant.
Oh that’s good to know - thank you!! ☺️
You are amazing! I have been trying to find a way to do this for ages. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! We have been trying to figure this out and it was driving us nuts. Nice work!
Glad it helped. I know what you mean. Why do they make it so darn hard 🙄

You're welcome Elizabeth - so pleased when I cracked this!
Many thanks for this tip, super useful!
👍
Thanks for this great tip. I’m not on instagram, but do watch way too many RUclips cooking videos, and it works there, too, exactly the same way. Now I won’t get annoyed when the recipe is typed instead of linked. Yay! ❤
You are so welcome - seems a bit stupid of me not to try it on RUclips 🤣
Brilliant! 👏👏
Thank you. This is a huge help!

Thank you so much!! That was driving me insane. Lol
Hi Marlene - I know the feeling! 🤣
Any tips on translating from websites that are in other languages?
Hi there, I don't know any way of Paprika doing that direct.y .I guess it would be about running through google translate and then maybe ask chatgpt to reformat it in a recipe format afterwards (and tell it your headers). Worth a go! If you try it, I'd love to know if it works. Good luck
What if it’s a recipe that NYTimes is sharing on their linkinbio for free without a subscription but then if you try to copy the link to paprika and it then says you’re not a member and can’t get the recipe anymore?
oh yes I've had that. I'm a subscriber to NYT now but if I remember rightly, I could make things like that work by pressing and holding on the url (without actually clicking it to open) and using the share sheet in IOS to add to Paprika . Try that and see if it still works. Good luck!
It works!!! Fantastic! Thank you!!
You’re welcome ☺️
so you paste the URL from the Instagram recipe into the paprika app and hit download and then you have to go and open up all of the down arrows on the Instagram recipe and hit download again. Did I get that right?
hi there, yes but you don't need to click download (last time I tried). So paste the url, open up the down arrows on the description so the whole caption shows (you might need to cancel a few windows to do this) . Once that's open you can click download. I hope that still works :)
