People misunderstand that Raya and ATLA are both rooted in Eastern culture. Except w Raya, its based on Southeast Asia, while ATLA uses Asian influence as a whole.
In the beginning of the movie, people like to compare Raya w Korra, but that's because they are influenced by Vietnamese styles. Lore is similar bc it deals w ancient legends involving eastern dragons and the same moral teachings.

Everybody dies because Raya trusts someone too much. Writers spend the rest of the movie judging her for not trusting the betrayer and end the movie with her senselessly trusting someone too much. No apologies offered, no remorse, no nothing. This is a masterclass on how to completely ruin a theme.
Let me fix that for you:
Everybody gets PETRIFIED because Namaari and the Fang tribe didn't trust Heart when they said they wanted to make peace.
Writers spent the movie judging Raya making a snap judgement based on stuff she didn't consider prior, like Namaari in part being pressured by her mom into doing it and that she'd give anything to take it back, and NEARLY WOULD HAVE if Raya had trusted Sisu.
The apology WAS Raya trusting Namaari to put the gem back together and save everyone.
"You want to take it all back? Here's your chance."

@@videohistory722 A single "I'm sorry" from Namaari or her mother would've been enough. We have to remember this movie is for kids, so they can't analyze it as deeply as you did. To them, the message is "forgive and trust someone even if they hurt you before, even if they don't apologize". The bare minimum is an apology.
