- Really, in literally every way possible, this is the best, most definitive, most comprehensive release of Metroid Prime. It includes all the content from all the different versions.
It includes all the control schemes from all the different versions (including some of its own). It includes this game looking the best it ever has, veering on being a full on remake, without diluting or compromising on the look and atmosphere of the original.

"Make it run st 60fps" You'll be pleased/shocked to hear that Prime on Gamecube in 2002 ran at a solid 60fps. Seriously, that game was witchcraft
Yup, primes timescale was completely tied to the fps too, so any slower or faster would completely speed up or slow down the actual game world haha
It all comes down to level design and effective use of hardware at the time. Only 1 or 2 rooms are loaded into ram at any moment and encounters with pirates are strategically placed in specific rooms. Almost fooling the player into thinking it's open world but it's really not, so yeah really good level design.
@@steve833333 Kinda like Doom faking its 3D, but still being 3D. Its not open world, but is IS. Absolutely excellent design throughout.
The Cube of games was a monster. REmake, Twin Snakes, Metroid Prime, RE4, Twilight Princess, etc.

What a nice surprise, can't believe they dropped this out of nowhere.
The shooting effects are gone and they screwed up the charge beam badly. The forced 3 round burst before it will charge its really annoying

Shit is underrated as a Nintendo game
A lot of games claim to be constant 60fps, but it often dips when things get hectic. But this game never dips. The smooth framerate is steady as a rock.

Steady...at a pathetic 900P! Xbox 360 did better than that. Many triple A games were in a full 1080p and a solid steady 60fps. And that hardware was many years before Switch. With far less RAM, nowhere near 1 teraflop (Switch), and a much weaker GPU.
because it doesn't have any advanced graphical settings. Also, the textures aren't even 4K, no Ray tracing, no dlss, nothing new. Just a simple remaster (but they did okay I think, nothing mindblowing). Gaming Bolt obviously got paid by Nintento to say nice things or he's just a Switch fanboy.
Got into the franchise last summer with Dread and did not imagine that I would fall in love with it. Played through the 2D games (except the original I and II) and I cannot wait to receive my physical of this beauty ❤️❤️❤️
Saaame I just started getting into Metroid a couple years ago and I’ve been in love 😍 ❤️ I have a Wii U and I bought the Prime Trilogy, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission. I have Switch Online so I’m also able to play Metroid 1 (NES), Metroid 2 (Game Boy), Super Metroid, and I have Metroid Dread. Hopefully Nintendo will release most of the Metroid games on Switch soon, then I’ll consider buying the Expansion Pack
Also I’m enjoying the hell out of Metroid Prime Remastered! 😁 I didn’t hesitate for a second to buy it lol. It’s my favorite game of all time and they did an amazing job with it. I’m considering getting a GameCube controller to go with it. I can’t wait for the rest of the Remastered trilogy, and for Prime 4! ❤
Dread is one of my least favorite metroid games.

This is currently the bar as to how you remaster a game. Modernize it without losing the original artstyle and atmosphere. They upgraded things that do not change or take away from the experience and did not touch things like the music which should be left untouched.
This is a remaster, like OP said it’s what a remastered game should be.
A remake is a game like the new Dead Space game or Resident Evil 2, the former is more true but still changes things and is completely rebuilt whereas the latter is completely remade and changes much of the original.
The only problem I have with this game is that the controls feel way smoother on the Wii
@@thechicagobox a good comparison would be ocarina of time 3d. I liked a lot of the upgrades that version gave but find myself replaying the original simply due to lighting and character face models which really keeps a darker less cartoony feel. With this game however I’m not having any major gripes even with gameplay. I wish samus’s suit didn’t look that flat but frankly it looks like it did in the American commercial back in 2002 so it doesn’t bother me and I see what they were going for.
I’d argue there’s good examples of this already like the Mass Effect collection, Halo collection, and a few others. Wind Waker on WiiU. I wish they would bring it to Switch as well. But yeah I’m happy that this types of remasters happen. Biggest reasons why I love remasters is because it’s a way to bring games forward with us since nowadays backwards compatibility isn’t important to these company’s when it comes to all the generations.
The last of us part 1 remake have the same proposal with way better visuals and people still complain about it.
To me is a great game as well.
Metroid Prime to be is not only the best Metroid game but in my opinion one of top 10 greatest games ever made. It is a bona fida masterpiece and a timeless classic, that 20 years later still holds up. I cannot recall how many times I finished it, but it's definitely over 30 times and I return to it every year to reexperience this brilliant work of art.
nothing about this game is mindblowing. just aim and shoot most of the time. the game is too simple, very repetitive. It was great when it first came out for GameCube though.

Edit : Metroid Prime 1 is indeed an absolute masterpiece. But so is Halo 3 .

It's not " a bad design " it's just a different type of game. That's completely different
I remember when this came out, right after GTA Vice City dropped. I loved Vice City as much as everyone else did at the time, but I remember Metroid Prime blowing me away at the time on every front. Graphics, gameplay and even more storytelling than we’d ever seen in a Metroid game. This was the Metroid game that we were waiting for since Super Metroid came out. I say this is one the best games ever made and I am so happy to see it treated with such care, and I hope it will be played by a whole new generation!
This and Vice City seem like games from different era

I absolutely ripped through this game and had a blast. At 27 I never thought I would ever again feel how I originally felt as a kid playing this, but this remaster just overwhelmed me in that regard. In the BEST way.
This game was the main reason that I bought my Gamecube way back when. I was 23 years old in 2002 and fresh out of college. Was a huge fan of the original on the NES when I was a kid (still have my original cart). Saw this game previewed on a Gamepro DVD that came with an issue of the magazine. I was a little skeptical, at first, as I couldn't really fathom the idea of a 3D Metroid game. However, I was still was interested in trying it out. When it dropped, I finally picked up a used Gamecube from Funcoland and a new copy of this game and was immediately sucked into it.
Aside from the 3DS title (don't own the system), I have pretty much every game in the series across multiple Nintendo platforms from the NES original thru Dread on the Switch. With that being said, the original Metroid Prime still ranks up there as one of the most engrossing and entertaining games that I've ever played.
I'm damn near 44 years old now and this video really makes me want to dust off my old copy of the game. Definitely may pick up the remastered version.

All three games are unbelievable and it may be the best trilogy ever made.

Prime 4? I can't wait to see how they update Prime Corruption. This remaster is well above what I expected and it's still only 40$. I was expecting it to be at least 50$.

what's so great about this game anyway? just aim and shoot. Thats it. You can already do that in Doom Eternal.
@@AmirChemE This game is not like Doom series or any other typical FPS games at all. It's far more about exploration and puzzle solving while finding upgrades that you need to actually use in surrounding environments and combat situations :-)
Best game of all time just got a whole lot better. We are in a simulation.

I recently played it through on my phone with a PS4 pad and it still looked great and played awesome.

@@dustinbutler3692 with dolphin emulator. You can play most GameCube games no problem as long as you have at least a mid range phone.
When Prime 4 lands, I'm gonna do the same thing I did back in 02'. Buy a system just for one game, Metroid.
Same, I literally bought a switch yesterday just for this game. Nothing else interests me on the system except this and metroid dread except dread wasn’t enough for me to warrant the purchase. Once i beat this Ill beat dread then my kids can use the console.

I've been playing it non stop and can't get over how AWESOME the new control options are. I use the dual sticks and was wondering why it had 2 trigger buttons for shooting was A and RL and OMG it's awesome for taking on bosses.... I just played Thardus and it allows for those moments when you can't lock on and want to shoot manually using the right dual stick to aim. OMG genius!

I loved this game when I was a kid. It was truly beyond anything else that was being done at the time. One of my favorite parts was the feeling of exploration it instilled. Going into a new area and turning on the scanning visor to record the flora and fauna and enemies. It made you feel like you were truly the first one to explore a unique alien world.
I only ever beat Prime 1 one time, and when I eventually reached the temple where you had to put all the artefacts I had missed every single one of them. I needed a guide to sniff out their location.
Can there not be a single game review that any gaming journalist makes a passing comparison with Dark Souls in any way. Dear god😩

Back when Metroid Prime first came out i couldn't believe how awesome it was in terms of graphics, atmosphere and sound all coming from a Nintendo GameCube. Suddenly the NGC had the best shooter bar none. the awesome Resident Evil remake and RE4 simply put, made the NGC a little powerhouse that pushed way, way beyond the hardware specs imo.
I've never played this game and have bought it for my Nintendo Switch Oled. It better not disappoint.

I'm honest: I like the normal metroidvania metroids more (Metroid dread and Metroid zero mission are one of my favourite games) and I was always scared that I wouldn't like Metroid prime. But I think with this remake and Metroid prime 4 (hopefully) on the way, I'll give it a try.
Metroid Prime is basically like Super Metroid (and Samus Returns) level design but in 3D so I think you will like it for sure.

Awesome video! I still am in a state of shock that Nintendo allowed this. I would have been happy getting prime in any form on the switch. I thought best case scenario was the lazy upres that Twilight Princess got (which I still loved). I though most likely it would be like the even lazier port that Mario 64 got. Nope! Prime Remaster is an absolute labor of love. They went above and beyond to give us the best possible Prime 1 experience. I've been over the moon playing this. I am doing a few in depth playthroughs before moving on to casual speed runs. What a lovely game! Cheers to Retro and co for doing this so well. Cheers to Nintendo for signing off on it

I Am Going To Buy This Game on My Switch, I Remember This One and When It Was Made On The GameCube, Truly a Great Wonderful Masterpiece.
For somebody that was too busy playing Melee and Windwaker on the GameCube, I cannot express how amazed I am with this game. I always heard good things, but did not expect this tbh. This game is incredible (though a bit frustrating at times.)
So here's to hoping this game is successful enough financially that they put this team on remastering prime 2 and 3 for switch
I hope they will bring Ocarina of Time Remaster as well.

Great review but people seems to forget that the original game for gamecube already run at 60fps 2:28 , thats not an improvement. gamecube was a beast.
The color blindness adjustment isn't new. The gamecube version was just that comprehensive
metroid prime is the only game deserving of a prefect score 10/10
Metroid Prime is on my Top 5 List of games of all time and I play though this (and most of the games in The MP Trilogy) at least once every other year. I been waiting for this for a long time and I'm so glad that it turned out so spectacular. Now I just need to get my hands on a Nintendo Switch.
I kept the trilogy disc for my Wii, and I haven't played it on my WiiU in a long time. Glad I still have it. But this remake blows me away.
Can't wait to see what retro cook up in their magic couldron for prime 4 in terms of game design and combat, especially combat.

Loved the original prime, was the reason for me to buy a game cube, the game still holds as an addictive and atmospheric experience, still enjoy playing with classic control scheme, there is only one thing that could have improved the experience and that is fast travel but that maybe would be against the nature of the game so i can live without that.
My physical copy just dispatched can't wait

How could the "best remaster of one of the best games of all time" not be a 10/10? With all of the complementary language here I was expecting an 11/10 not a 9. I've been playing it and no doubt it is very good.
Even better is it was only 40 bucks compared to other remakes trying to charge full price.

It's not upgraded "beyond recognition". The game looks, feels and plays same as before. Just with higher fidelity.

This review is dangerously similar to Nintendo life’s review… feels like a little bit of copying is going on here.
Why is all the footage from the first hour of the game? There is nothing showing the other areas of the game. It's so obvious that it is jarring to me and feels like lazy editing. It also makes me wonder if this person even played the game or is simply being paid for this.
For them to shadow drop this at the price they did is a master class move. I was taking a little break from gaming and hadn’t owned a Nintendo system after the 64. PlayStation took my time up in gaming as I was in my 20s when this released and gaming wasn’t at the top of my priority list. Never played this and I’m pumped for this release to be sure.

I'd like to see 2 and 3 get this treatment ahead of 4's release. Never played 3 because it was on Wii and I didn't own one, plus I didn't like the motion controls.
The controls on that were fantastic but I'm sure the remaster will allow for traditional controls.
That was one heck of a game.
Why does my version look so dark!? You can clearly see well in this video, but when I play on my system it suffers from horrible black crush. I can't see some of the walls or the downed space pirates in the beginning for example. I haven't heard of anyone else with this issue and it's kinda ruining my favorite game
Are you playing docked or handheld? If you’re playing docked, go into your system settings, go to TV settings, and select “match RGB state”. That should fix it!😊
@@pramath1605 thanks for the tip! I actually managed to finally fix it last night. I changed the RGB setting on the Switch from "full" to "limited" and it cleared right up. Never had an issue with any other Switch game so it's kinda odd, so happy it worked tho!
