  • Metroid Prime Remastered review/first thoughts is a remastered version of Metroid Prime that was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2023. It was announced during a Nintendo Direct on February 8, 2023 and released digitally the same day, with a physical version set to be released on February 22, 2023 in North America and on March 3, 2023 in other regions.
    Metroid Prime Remastered features updated models, textures, audio, and controls.
    Metroid Prime is an action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the GameCube. Metroid Prime is the fifth main Metroid game and the first Metroid to use 3D computer graphics and a first-person perspective. Since exploration takes precedence over combat, Nintendo classifies the game as a "first-person adventure" rather than a first-person shooter. It was released in North America in November 2002, and in Japan and Europe the following year. One day before its North American release, Nintendo released the Game Boy Advance game Metroid Fusion, marking the return of the Metroid series after an eight-year hiatus following Super Metroid (1994)

      This is really sad when the Gamecube had them, and the Switch version with its improved graphics leaves you stranded in dark corridors.
      Its really inconstitent and distracting. When you can see the shimmering of your arm-cannon is illuminating the inner side of your helmet, but a giant glowing orb of plasma does nothing...
      These are the moments where i have to ask, is it idiocy or intetional? Both answers are bad!

    Metroid Prime is THE game that got me into gaming as an adult. Watched my brother play 10 hrs a day every day. Went out and bought a platinum GC with Prime 2 Echoes. I played so much I dreamed about the Ing at night (not joking, I really did)

    • @10191927
      @10191927 Год назад +4

      Those Ing had to be the creepiest Metroid enemies ever introduced, they are intimidating and truly other worldly, those things made me dread the dark world of Aether. Plus add in the limited bubbles of light, it made fighting the Ing feel so claustrophobic, venturing into the very atmosphere of Dark Aether was deadly. Prime 2 Echoes is my personal favorite of the Prime games.

You’re acting like this is just a simple up res of the original Prime but it has way better models, textures, lighting, and 2 x MSAA all at 60 fps so 900p is completely understandable and honestly looks close to 1080p because of the MSAA that they used.

    When you were talking about making the jump from side scroller to 3-D I could totally relate. So much so I NEVER ended up playing Metroid Prime. I was used to FPS games with a mouse and keyboard and didnt care to play one with a controller. Plus the game felt very claustrophobic which messed with my anxiety. But now I am kind of glad I waited because this remaster looks amazing and I am finally ready to dive back in for my first time going through it.

    I wanted to purchase the remaster this morning, went to look at the Nintendo store page, I was thinking in my head "wooh here we go 60 dollars for this light remaster with a new control scheme" then I get to the page and I see that sweet beautiful 39.99. I'm so glad Nintendo came to their senses and priced this appropriately, and this will also help more correctly reflect the existing market for a new Metroid prime, I think this will secure a good future for Metroid fans, I have never been able to look forward to the future of Metroid until these last few years, and it's paying off.

    It is a shame they didn't find a way to add Kraid back into the game. He was originally planned to be the big boss in Magmoor Caverns. He was going to have the top half of his head replaced by some mechanical dome housing his brain (Samus blew the top of his head off in Super Metroid) and the fight was planned to involve freezing his projectiles and climbing up to his head to smash the dome and destroy his brain. Apparently the controls were unable to facilitate all the stuff you would have needed to juggle around with to fight while platforming around frozen platforms and they ran out of time while trying to get it all to work. In the end he was just dropped and, I think, was replaced with the big control tower with all the auto-turrets around it instead.

Flash forward to a year ago and another friend of mine gives me his Wii before moving away and I ended up finally picking up Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, and MGS Twin Snakes and played all of them straight through immediately. All of them were great and Metroid Prime really showed me why it got all those 10/10 scores. Excellent game and pumped that more people get to play it again or for the first time.

    One of the greatest games ever, and this remaster is perfect. The big flaw with the original was the prehistoric control scheme (not really the game's fault), but that is now fixed to play like a modern FPS. The visuals still looked good on the Gamecube version, but now they look incredible!
