This is the game that introduced me to the Metroid series, and it makes me so happy to see that gamers today will get to experience Retro Studios' masterpiece in all of its glory.
@@WheeledHamster I would buy it, these games are better than a lot of "new" games, the chance to play that on the Switch is enough for me, those sexy graphics are a very welcome extra.
The transition between first person and morph ball is great indeed. During the development of the original version, Miyamoto insisted that if the team couldn't get that transition right the game just wouldn't work.
I cant believe Metroid Prime is 21 years old. I purchased this on my gamecube November 18, 2002 and found it to be an absolute masterpiece and one of the greatest games ever made. Having completed it dozens of times, I can say with certainty that it's one of a handful of games I consider flawless.
wow 21 years already, where did the time go. It feels like it was only a few years ago and nice to see some more people here from my generation, as I was 23 myself when I played this on a GameCube from a buddy back in the day.
Dude so crazy to think about your channel not being around when Dread came out. You came up pretty quick! Also my fav detail in any game is how you can see Samus’ reflection in her visor when a flashing light hits close. Whether it’s a missile or a charge shot hitting something close to you. Never gets old!
As someone who played and finished Metroid Prime back in 2002 multiple times, Prime Remastered is nothing short of astounding, my personal favorite game of all time, if not one of the best games ever made.
It’s nice to see it get a remaster. I remember having it as a kid but I was too scared to play it in its entirety. Now that I’m that older I can finally play it again to the end
I remember watching my brother play through the game on GameCube when I was very little, and being obsessed with reading the guidebook. I was too scared to play it myself because of the death scene, but eventually I pushed forward and beat the game myself. One of the most memorable games I've ever played. I can't wait to play Remastered after I'm done with FE Engage!
Just wanted to say for the exploration part, a lot of those pathways end up being dead ends if you don’t have the correct upgrades so you kind of always end up circling back to where you need to go anyway, and if it really is taking a long time for you to find out where to go eventually an update will come to Samus informing her of where she needs to go next, it’s not like a trail you follow but it does indicate where you’re trying to get to and usually from there it’s kind of obvious what path you should take
Personally, I would leave the hint system off unless you're really REALLY lost. Part of the charm of Metroid Prime is exploring the areas at your own pace, cause even if you do hit a temporary dead end, it stills fills you with a sense of curiosity about what's beyond that point once you DO get the upgrade to progress there, but the hint system kind of detracts from that sense of organic exploration and discovery.
metroid dread was excellent but the ost of prime 1 is just so much superior, also i remember vividly like getting to phendrana and then realising i didnt have an item that was needed, going back to the half pipe structure and realising there was something to do here to get the space boots really meant using your brain. Being a kid even with the hints it took me days or weeks to figure things out. I agree with everything you said basically great take.
Favourite game of all time. Bought the GameCube for my 14th b-day and this game was bundled with it. Had no idea how amazing it would be when I booted it up for the first time, and now, playing it remastered is like discovering it all over again. Great review!
So happy you played Prime 1 to completion for the first time! This was my first Metroid game as a kid and it's great so many people are experiencing 3D Metroid for the first time. :) I teared up a little bit seeing it #1 on the Nintendo eShop lol...I hope they do the same for Echoes and Corruption.
This game truly is a masterpiece. It was my first Metroid experience and my first first-person game. I played it back when I was eleven or twelve. I struggled so hard acclimating to the first-person view back then. I pushed through and learned though. I played this game countless times as a kid. I played it so much that I started to memorize the game and where the items were. I eventually beat it for the sixth time and got enough completion percentage to get the special ending where Samus takes off her helmet. Up to this point, I had no clue what kind of character I was. I was just some nameless guy in a spacesuit. When I finally realized I had been playing as a woman the entire time, I remember audibly yelling "I am a GIRL!? THAT'S AWESOME!" From that point, the game became a cherished memory and personal journey of mine and fundamentally made me who I am as a gamer. I consistently gravitate towards badass female heroines in games and Samus is the GOAT to me. When the Trilogy released on Wii in 2009, I made it a point to play through the series once a year for fun and to try best my own speedrunning record. As of today, my fastest 100% speedrun for Prime is 4 hours and 37 minutes. I eventually stopped doing the annual speedruns in 2017. Life got in the way and I had to focus on other things. Then at Christmas time of 2017, I got a PS4, so my console focus shifted from Switch to PS4. I eventually shelved my Wii and never touched it again. Fast forward to 2020. I got a PS5 and focused on that a ton. My Switch was gathering dust. I was holding out hope that one day the Trilogy would come to Switch so I could play it again. Lo and behold, it has arrived! I never thought a Switch game could look as good as this one does. It is practically a remake. While it isn't the complete trilogy, I am so glad that I can play this masterpiece again and that so many others can experience it for the first time. Here's to hoping Retro Studios releases remasters/remakes of Prime 2 and 3 for the Switch. I can imagine they will to prepare everyone for Prime 4. Seeing what they did with Prime's remaster/remake, I know Prime 4 is in the best hands.
Metroid Dread was my first Metroid game and I fell in love with the franchise and then played all the 2D games and finally got to play Prime and I love it!
I remember getting this game as a birthday present in 3rd grade. I had wanted some Mario basketball game instead, so I wasn't thrilled but I gave it a chance. This game's lore was way too complex for little me to understand at the time, but I absolutely loved the sci-fi action and I have replayed it many many times over the years. I remember being blown away by the ending when the cool space guy's identity was revealed to be a girl! When Prime 2 Echoes came out I NEEDED to have it as well. Highly recommend the Prime trilogy. Echoes went on to be my favorite of the trio, but I still have a great fondness and respect for the first and third. You ABSOLUTELY need to play the trilogy in its entirety.
Like i said on Happy Console Gamer's First Thoughts video, this is a masterclass on how to do a remaster and it's great to see Retro Studios come back and with the game that defined the studio :)
I always end up finding myself wondering what it could look like if Nintendo wasn't 2 generations behind all the time. Prime with dead space level detail would kill everything else on the market
@@johndodo2062 I honestly think this looks better than the new dead space. Art direction and lighting is just so pleasing. Dead space is just constantly grim and gritty
More like half ass effort and then charged $40 for an old ass game. Maybe if you get lucky they'll do 2&3 and you can give them $120 for an old trilogy.
That's untrue. Most of the viewership of this channel is generated from non-subscribers and it overall performs better than MrMattyPlays in the long term. Just go peep the performance of any Nintendo videos on that channel. It's night/day because the audience and reach is different.
Great review. I love that there is no spoken dialogue and long conversations in Metroid Prime. It adds a sense of desolation to the environment and enables the player to focus more on game strategies.
I think the way the game respects my intelligence by letting me get lost without telling me what to do or where to go next most of the time is a big factor in why it's so good.
Great video! Retro Studios were testing the waters doing this excellent remaster for Prime 4. It was their chance to feel and jump back to this amazing game and inspire themselves on what the original Team did back in 2002. I remember back then when I had the GC and bought this wonderful game on day one!
Can I just say Retro Rebound has really become the retro gaming channel I've always wanted. Not just focusing on retro games themselves, but also all the Remasters, Remakes and Spiritual Sequels for some of these games. Perfect blend of new and old
One of the greatest series ever made. The music is unbelievable. Very welcome surprise for me. I only just got a new switch around a month ago. I played all the originals as they were released in the early '00s. Everything about the prime series was way ahead of its time. Downloaded Remastered last night & its amazing.
Metroid Prime Remake reminds us that leaving the development of MP4 to Retro Studios is the right choice, even if they take their time to release the game. I mean this is a 21 years old game and is gold and better that some stuff released recently
I've never been a fan of Metroid but I loved Journey to the savage planet which was heavily inspired by this game so I decided to pick it up. I can see the inspiration everywhere lol.
15:10 it's not weird since it is one of the decisive aspects that determined if the game was coming out. I can't remember who but it was one of the big names in Nintendo basically told Retro Studios that if they didn't nail that transition from the morphball into first person they were going to drop the project
@@retrorebound8887 Looked it up. It was the man himself, Miyamoto. "But Miyamoto’s first directive was ‘if we don’t make the transition between the ball and first-person seamless, then we can’t do this game.'" "It took us a few months to get that correct," added Pacini. "And that was pretty scary, as it was one of the first milestones we had to reach, and thanks to our engineers ,we managed to create something that when Miyamoto saw it he said, ‘okay’ on the project. "
@@retrorebound8887 The channel @KIWITALKZ has some very interesting interviews with some developers of the Prime trilogy, and plenty of them detail the design challenges for the game's magnificent camera system and the work done by the late Mark Haigh-Hutchinson. Worth the time for anyone that wants to know more about those games.
So happy you finally played it! I have to admit the Wii version of this with motions controls was also good. In fact it's the only Wii game I played that felt like it used them properly. I still prefer the GC version though. Can't wait for the physical version of the remake to come out. I also loved Prime 2. It's basically just more of Prime but that's not a bad thing.
My first playthrough on the switch I made it to the spot where you face Rhundas. A good few hours if exploration and breathing in the atmosphere of my childhood. Gonna try to go 100%
I remember getting this game 2 days before release date mainly because the employee didn't really care about release dates. And the moment I popped the disc inside the GameCube, it stayed in there for months. I was hooked. Haven't played this game in years becuz my dumbass gave my GameCube to my girlfriend's son for his birthday long ago. There have been plenty of times I wanted to do so many play throughs on this game. Thank the lord that Retro and nintendo brought this back.
I played Metroid Prime on GameCube back in the day and had a lot of trouble getting into it. I was bored by the exploration (something that would definitely not be the case for me now); so, when I ran into a snag where I couldn't figure out how to progress, I just gave up on it (and eventually gave the sequels a pass). Many years later, I bought Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U and tried to get into the first game again. Nope. Wasn't feeling the controls. Metroid Prime Remastered will be my third attempt to get into Metroid Prime, and hopefully it'll be the charm. I've got the physical edition pre-ordered.
Having never played a mainline Metroid Prime game before and being such a fan of Dark Souls, its honestly jarring how similar this game is to DS1. The Talon Overworld is Firelink Shrine. The Magmoor Caverns are Blighttown. I can't wait to play 2 and 3 and eventually 4.
Playing this game makes you realize why Metroid Dread's music got so criticized, even if Dread's music is not the worst in the world. But when Metroid fans are used to getting all the toppings on top of the pizza, while Dread is just the bread and a little bit of cheese, it certainly felt like a little let down in that department.
When the game says a Concussive blast is required it simply means use your missiles. You don’t technically “need” the charge beam save for super missiles to break certain objects made of cordite. Sure makes the game a lot easier though! Also, the hint system will tell you were to go next if you wander for too long. It’s pretty generous so it doesn’t take much time for it to pop. It would pop for me sometimes when I was in the room right before the hint room.
This isn't his first channel, or his largest. He's been gaming the algorithm for years, plus carried subs from his other channel over here. So nothing shocking.
Just bought this yesterday I skipped over the gamecube back in the day I had the ps2 and my friends had ps2 or xbox and with this being my first metriod prime game im in love 😍 being a huge mass effect fan I feel right at home in the metriod universe
I remember enjoying this game when I was young, but I definitely had to use a guide I am planning to get the physical game but its hard to wait, and not just buy both.
When I was a teen I watched my cousin play Metroid Prime but I missed it on it. I grew up with the original on NES and SM on SNES. I ordered the physical, I'm super stoked to finally play this classic!
You brought up a good point that I’m struggling with. I’m not sure if I should go out and buy Prime 2 and 3 on older hardware or wait for a remaster. I love the shadow drop concept but it makes these decisions so much harder! Great video
I’m very new to the Metroid series, I’ve always been keenly aware of it, but never known the proper moment to jump in until the Switch’s Metroid revival. I played Super Metroid in the lead up to Dread and absolutely loved both games. Now I’ve just beaten Prime remastered and am moving on to Fusion on NSO. I’ve loved all of them so far and am praying that they add Zero Mission to NSO, and I’m considering getting the Metroid 2 remake on 3DS to complete the Metroid pentalogy.
When I was a kid my dad got me a GameCube and this game because super smash bros was sold out. At first I was kinda upset but ended up being one of my favorite childhood games along with MGS1
I was 14 when this came out and I remember I just didn’t really enjoy it for some reason. I think it was the puzzles/ maps that were too hard for me at the time. But now, omg I love the Metroid series. Wanna give this one another shot.
$40 is a steal cause the price of the ogs on wii and gamecube plus just think, they made Skyward Sword HD which was just a simple upscale with control changes and they charged $60 same with Mario 3d Allstars(you do get 3 games at least) and twilight Princess HD, this remaster is on par with Crisis Core Reunion and Wind Waker HD which also weren't full price hopefully more follow suit
I think Crisis Core Reunion did far more, but that game admittedly needed to change more. I think the only thing this game could've added is a marker system to aid in some of the navigation/finding objectives, but its openness is part of the charm and it may not be the right call to add that in.
@@retrorebound8887 The game literally already has a marker system, if you spend too long without making progress the game will automatically point you to the next item you should get, this setting is on by default in both the Gamecube and Wii versions, I don't know if it is on the switch version though.
The only visual downgrade (other than the removal of water ripples, which was also curiously cut from the Wii Trilogy version) is the lack of dynamic lighting. And unfortunately it really does detract from the immersion that the original game had. In the original, every shot from your arm cannon would dynamically cast light onto the environment. The Wave Beam in particular would light up the entire room with bright sparks of purple and red. Space Pirate grenades and missiles would also result in a similar effect. The lack of these dynamic lighting effects in the remaster is a damn shame. For as good as the recreated environments and models look, during gameplay, they feel a bit sterile compared to the original for this very reason. Of course, Prime 1's dynamic lighting wasn't anything particularly groundbreaking from a tech perspective. It was simple vertex lighting, which had been used as early as PS1/N64 software. It certainly wasn't 'Doom 3' levels of lighting complexity here, and none of the original Prime games featured any sort of dynamic shadows of any sort (in fact, outside of pre-baked shadows for the environment, enemy and NPCs had literal circle shadows). Still, Prime 1 used its lighting to great effect in really drawing the player into the world. Being able to use your arm cannon as a torch to light your way through the powered-down Space Pirate lab in Phendrana is simply not possible to do in the remaster. Interestingly, Prime 2 and 3 also progressively downgraded the intensity of dynamic lighting compared to the first game - so maybe it was an artistic choice. Although I imagine the choice to remove the effect had to do with the more complex geometry in Prime 2 making it more difficult to render dynamic lighting whilst maintaining a fluid framerate. Same for Prime 3, which, although being on the (barely) more powerful Wii, featured much higher polygon counts and impressively high-resolution textures (even better than the ones used in Prime remaster in many instances), and probably most importantly, extensive use of bloom lighting, which would probably have looked unnatural if mixed with Prime 1-esque dynamic lights. I noticed that Prime Remaster also uses a lot of bloom. It actually does remind me of Prime 3's art-style in many ways. Not a bad thing - but I defenitely miss those dynamic lights (if you couldn't tell). I do however hope that Prime 4 looks a lot better (if it ever actually comes out).
The game does have dynamic lighting just not from Samus arm cannon...I wonder why they cut that? It's using the same GC engine with a texture makeover...could be for performance or maybe was an oversight?
Hey Matty, I'm so glad that you played this for the first time and enjoyed it! Metroid Prime is one of my all time favorite games. I'd also recommend playing Metroid Prime 2, even on the gamecube it ran at 60fps and played very well! There's rumors of a Metroid Prime 2 Remaster, but I think it's worth checking out the original if you're interested.
I remember playing this when I was 12. I printed out the entire walkthrough because every time someone would call the house I would get knocked off the internet and lose my spot. Good times
It's hard to believe that there are people alive today who are now legal adults who weren't even born when dial-up was a thing. Or before the internet even existed at all. Or even cell phones. Or Metroid Prime 1 and 2. Starting to feel old....
Doing digital releases first with the physical later on is the best move. Bugs and patches can be sorted out early, leading to physical versions that are playable right out of the box.
@@nujevad28 I wish that were true. But out of the box it won’t be. It takes a long time to print all of those copies and ship them. It may be better if they release an update along side the game, but the update is on your console, not the cartridge. Edit: basically what I’m saying is it’s already too late if they want to make changes to it. Games are shipping as we speak.
Great review, Matty! I played Metroid Prime as a kid and still own my copy. Unfortunately, I never got very far because I couldn't figure out where to go. I'm going to get Metroid Prime: Remastered and beat it! After all these years!
Metroid Prime Echoes was awesome, but also demanded a great deal more patience and endurance. A much more meaty world to adventure, though a much more monochrome colour palet and ghastly barren locations. It adds an extra dimension to travel through, which seriously amps up the path finding on the map screen. Prime Corruption is the most action packed, probably the best ending, but the 'world' has been strictly segmented, which breaks up the play from the traditional 'one giant maze' into sections that you'll be jumping between painfully so when you've lost ur way. Cue watching a lotta (pretty) load screens.
I'm curious if Matty made use of the Hint System? I first played Prime when I was 12 in 2007. It was the first game up til that point where I could easily say it was my favorite game ever made. I've been a massive Metroid fan ever since.
I remember getting the Wii trilogy for like $40 back in the day after beating and really liking Other M. I also got stuck/lost in the beginning of the game and never touched the game again. I still got it sitting on the shelf
One of my games I got with my Gamecube back in the day and loved every second of it. Can't wait to play it again on the Switch when the physical version comes out. Trying not to double dip on a digital copy and start playing it already.
It's honestly amazing AND funny at the same time. Cause this game, along with zelda botw, absolutely proves that there is no excuse for scarlett and Violet to be in the awful state it currently is in.
The excuse is that they know Pokémon will outsell Metroid (and even Zelda) by several orders of magnitude whilst taking less time, effort, and money to produce. Game Freak could come out with literal Pokémon Poop and Pokémon Piss versions (which are literally just a box with shlt and piss in them respectively) for $70 each, and they will be the best selling 'games' of all time.
This game is definitely goated. And despite all the scores of video games I love, this game still to this day has the most atmospheric score I've ever heard. The aural assault is absolutely incredible. "Phen - dran - a Drifts" & Tallon overworld 2 are absolute perfection.
Metroid Prime was my first Metroid game ever, I got it in 2001 when I was just 8 years old, and I remember it took quite a bit of convincing to my mom to let me play a game rated T at the time, but she finally relented and got it for me. To this day its my favorite game of all time, the atmosphere will stick with me for the rest of my life. The feeling of being alone, helpless and isolated on an alien planet has not been matched by any other game ive ever played. I remember my first playthrough as a kid, probably took me a whole year to beat the game cause I was so terrified of the space pirate lab in phendrana. Im so happy to see my favorite game get such an upgrade. If you've never played Prime its most definitely worth the 40 bucks for an even better looking version with more intuitive controls.
People said Nintendo games never dropped in price, well the Player's Choice version of Metroid Prime is only $20 compare to the $50 when Metroid Prime first released. Now Metroid Prime Remastered is only $40 digitally. Here's hoping the physical version is at that same price.
You heard that it gets better from here? I don't think I have ever heard that opinion before. Afaik it is basically unanimous among Metroid fans that the Prime 1 is better than 2 and 3. The others are still fairly well regarded, though.
I never played Metroid until about a year ago I finally buckled down and played through Super Metroid. Sat in a dark room, alone, and just let the music and atmosphere wash over me while exploring Zebes and man oh man what a perfect gaming experience. Now I'm playing through Prime Remastered, and it's absolutely amazing how well they were able to translate 2D style exploration into a 3D space. This game is mind blowing now. I can't imagine playing it in the early 2000's. Truly one of the best games ever made. I've also played Samus Returns and Dread and I have to say Metroid is slowly becoming my second favorite Nintendo franchise (behind Legend of Zelda). This is a 100% must own Switch title.
I have to admit as a kid playing on the GameCube unable to read and all that it took me 3 years yes seriously to beat this game but man I loved it but uh yeah it was one of the first games I ever beat good times
I never beat Metroid Prime on GameCube so having it on the Switch is awesome. Like you said I wish you could place a marker on the map as I remember getting lost when exploring rooms and such.
7:18 $40 was a steal for me! The minute I saw that it shadow dropped, I had to snatch that shit right up! Oddly enough, I still haven't picked up a physical copy
This game was great! Playing through the remake as well! Definitely worth going through the older games. Played Super Metroid and Metroid fusion last year and I was shocked at how well they stood up and I love those games. I didn't grow up with those games and don't have nostalgia and they still hold up extremely well.
I've played the older metroid games before.. even tried prime once before on the original GC but I never got past the prologue, now fully playing it, it definitely is an amazing game, the OG "2D" games I cannot get into for the life of me, but prime is very different, and in a good way.
who told you that the sequels are better than the first one? dude, you can skip the sequels. the first one is one of the greatest games ever made, though. glad you enjoyed it.
As always, great work, Matty! Like you, I bounced off Prime back on the GameCube due to simply getting frustrated with navigation. While I typically love playing first person shooters, I’m not a big fan of puzzles in games and despite playing through and enjoying Metroid Fusion (using the strategy guide) I have never enjoyed Metroidvanias. I recall loving the atmosphere, music, etc - but the minute to minute gameplay wasn’t for me. The lack of twin stick control also made me drop it. The QoL features, addition of twin stick controls, improved visuals, and ability to play this portably have all led me to highly consider giving this another shot in the near future. If I can get my hands on a physical copy somehow that is.
Especially considering they DID charge $60 for Skyward Sword HD, which was just an up-res'd port of the Wii version (which itself only cost $50 when it originally released a decade prior).
I hope that nintendo gives both sequels the same treatment. Maybe they'll include prime hunters as a bonus lol. I used to play the hell out of this game on my gamecube. Hours of time after school, whole weekends. Multiple playthroughs. If i wasnt playing this it was doom 64, serious sam next encounter and mario lol. This game being remastered brought back so much of that childhood joy. im going to wait for the pysical release on the 22nd
Atmosphere in this game is second to none! Game is near perfect, especially considering when it came out and that it was the first 3D Metroid title. Main issues are that sometimes it was confusing to know where to go. I don’t want it to hand it to you, but there are times where I would complete a section and be wandering not remembering there was a place to use my newest ability across the map. The ability to add map markers would be huge here honestly, or maybe some more hints along the way. There are a couple sections with more back tracking too, especially getting the double jump and then going back to where you just were essentially. Not perfect but still like a 9/10 experience!
The reason Prime always worked as a single stick shooter was because it let you look and jump at the same time. I suppose they didn’t want to work a “bumper jumper” setup on GameCube, but with more buttons, this is much more doable nowadays. This is definitely the kind of game you don’t want to constantly be switching your thumb back and forth between the face buttons and the analog stick. You want to be able to look around and move and jump without moving your fingers.
I played this game when I was a child, I remember vividly how scary it was to the point my dad had to help me during some parts so I wouldn’t cry lmao. Never beat it because the puzzles were a lil to much for my 6 year old Brain, got really far though. This game is like twilight princess or rayman 3 to me, games I absolutely LOVED as a kid but never beat so I have the feeling in my gut whenever I see them remastered that just tells me I HAVE to complete my childhood and the only way to do it is to beat these specific games lol.
I hope this masterpiece now gets the praise it deserves. Metroid games generally get poor sales in comparison to the rest of the main franchises of Nintendo.
Funny enough I'd recently hooked up my old Gamecube and started playing through this game. Was amazed with how well it holds up. I have some gameplay gripes (like the artifacts), but love the game. Took a bit to get into the swing of things again too as the game doesn't hold back.
This is the game that introduced me to the Metroid series, and it makes me so happy to see that gamers today will get to experience Retro Studios' masterpiece in all of its glory.
Same with me. Prime was my very first & was happy to experience that in the same way as Ocarina was my first Zelda. Really magical.
Maybe if you get lucky they'll do 2 & 3 and you can pay $120 for 3 old ass games.

The OST for prime honestly hasn't been topped yet
Favourite game of all time. Bought the GameCube for my 14th b-day and this game was bundled with it. Had no idea how amazing it would be when I booted it up for the first time, and now, playing it remastered is like discovering it all over again. Great review!
I remember the countless hours playing this on my Gamecube, its truly a masterpiece.
THAT'S AWESOME!"
From that point, the game became a cherished memory and personal journey of mine and fundamentally made me who I am as a gamer.
I’m new to Metroid with dread being my first game. This feels like dread but in fps! Awesome game
Definitely play Super Metroid next 👌
Fun fact: when Retro Studios developed Metroid Prime, they used Super Metroid as a template
Metroid Dread was my first Metroid game and I fell in love with the franchise and then played all the 2D games and finally got to play Prime and I love it!
What's funny is the remaster is how I remember the original looking back in the day. I believe I was 13 back then.
@@WheeledHamster This is half assed? i don't think so

Great review. I love that there is no spoken dialogue and long conversations in Metroid Prime. It adds a sense of desolation to the environment and enables the player to focus more on game strategies.
The psysical edition of Metroid Prime Remastered is currently sold out in Amazon US, Amazon Spain and Amazon Mexico.
I played Prime when I was 13 and when it first came out. It’s been my favorite game(series) ever since and hasn’t changed.
Played this when I was 8 and got hard stuck after getting the morphball 😂 now I'm collecting the rest of the chozo artifacts
Wow, if true, that's intense!
The remaster maintains the nostalgia goggles, and it's an altogether awe inspiring experience!
Completely agree. The remaster is phenomenal ! 👌

"The most badass heroin in this game"
Me - haha, bro! You said Heroin.
Haha! Ha! Haha!
Wow, you have insanely high views for a channel your size, congratulations, you deserve it!

the OST for this game lives in my head. constantly. and the fortress theme from prime 2... *chefs kiss*
Great video
Sixth year old me is happy this remake was done well and with passion to recreate the experience we all had back in the early 2000’s.
Dead Space Remaster & Hogwarts Legacy... then Boom Nintendo release Metroid Prime Remasterd!! Blows them both out the water. Love it!
I'm surprised no one has made the joke "It's a Remasterpiece!"
This was the first metroid game i ever own. Remember getting it at gamestop for 8 bucks in their replacement box and cover art.
One of my favorite Christmas presents of all time.
I wouldn’t say this game is a masterpiece but a REMASTERpiece 😉
Interesting brother, thanks for sharing
The game does have dynamic lighting just not from Samus arm cannon...I wonder why they cut that?
It's using the same GC engine with a texture makeover...could be for performance or maybe was an oversight?
MP2 is the peak of the series IMO
Hey Matty, I'm so glad that you played this for the first time and enjoyed it! Metroid Prime is one of my all time favorite games. I'd also recommend playing Metroid Prime 2, even on the gamecube it ran at 60fps and played very well! There's rumors of a Metroid Prime 2 Remaster, but I think it's worth checking out the original if you're interested.
I remember playing this when I was 12. I printed out the entire walkthrough because every time someone would call the house I would get knocked off the internet and lose my spot. Good times
Ahhh yes ,the days of gamefaqs
It's hard to believe that there are people alive today who are now legal adults who weren't even born when dial-up was a thing.
Or before the internet even existed at all. Or even cell phones. Or Metroid Prime 1 and 2.

@@N.i.E.M.O Like me. Born in 2003.
Doing digital releases first with the physical later on is the best move. Bugs and patches can be sorted out early, leading to physical versions that are playable right out of the box.
I think the reason they did this was because they wanted to shadow drop it and if they shipped the games people would have known about it.
@@dynamic_shortage6532 Intended or not, the physical release will be better for it.
I actually like the shadowdrop aspect of that while also allowing it to be physical.
Great review, Matty!
I played Metroid Prime as a kid and still own my copy. Unfortunately, I never got very far because I couldn't figure out where to go. I'm going to get Metroid Prime: Remastered and beat it! After all these years!
Haven’t played it yet did they bring back the cut Kraid as a boss?
Metroid Prime Echoes was awesome, but also demanded a great deal more patience and endurance.
A much more meaty world to adventure, though a much more monochrome colour palet and ghastly barren locations. It adds an extra dimension to travel through, which seriously amps up the path finding on the map screen.
Prime Corruption is the most action packed, probably the best ending, but the 'world' has been strictly segmented, which breaks up the play from the traditional 'one giant maze' into sections that you'll be jumping between painfully so when you've lost ur way. Cue watching a lotta (pretty) load screens.
Prime 1 is very good because it borrows heavily from Super Metroid in terms of level design.
@-Retro_Rebound no thanks. I don’t feel like getting scammed today
You definitely deserve more subs, you could easily hit the 1M mark with this quality
I’m glad Nintendo remastered MP the trilogy on will goes for an insane price right now
love seeing all these reviewers praise this game. hopefully it gets more people to buy it and makes nintendo rush to get Prime 2 and 3 Made .
GOAT soundtrack, and the second game is even better
It's much better than the second ost wise
It really doesn’t need autoaim because the gyro was implemented the right way. I’m using dual stick + gyro aim settings. Such a great remaster.
Metroid is one of few Nintendo IPs that doesn't hold your hand all the way through the game which I appreciate
The bosses got the biggest glow ups and that makes them even more awesome.
I grew up on this game and its awesome to see how well its held up
I never beat Metroid Prime on GameCube so having it on the Switch is awesome.
The most shocking thing about this was that they didn’t charge $60 for it
Especially considering they DID charge $60 for Skyward Sword HD, which was just an up-res'd port of the Wii version (which itself only cost $50 when it originally released a decade prior).
@@N.i.E.M.O exactly
I can only hope we get Prime 2 and 3 so all 4 will be on Switch. Or at least 2 echoes bc i have corruption
New school gamers are gonna get so lost in this game 😂
Even though thru will get the hint of where to go just not how to get there. New people will definitely give up
