    excellent review on the xpander. i’m actually planning to purchase one after the birth of my first kid in a couple of months. however, I am contemplating if I should get an Innova instead. if ever this purchase is going to be my first 7-seater MPV and I want it to last for years until at least my kid reaches her teens.

    Great review Kyle! I agree with your insights and overall review. It is one of the best MPVs hands-down on the market right now. I should know, I was one of the lucky few to preorder this vehicle, (and in this stunning Pearl White). Love the new refreshed updates Mitsubishi did compared to the previous gen, from the interior and the exterior, the infotainment system is very useful with CarPlay and Android Auto and it's more than enough for long journeys. Sure it has the carried-over powertrain, but I will forgive it for what I got in return. It's all worth it. I highly recommend this over the competition. Kudos!

      @@KyleLiongCars IMO, I think it will do quite well. I'm already seeing more 2022 Xpanders on the streets, and if Mitsubishi PH will give reasonable discounts (we got a dealer discount on ours) then I think more people will be inticed to get one. Plus Mitsubishi's good reputation should help with sales as well.

    Kyle, the Chinese MPVs, such as the Geely Okavango, GAC GN6, and Maxus G50, have turbo engines, while the Japanese MPVs like the Xpander only have NA engines. Pros and cons for both groups?

    • @KyleLiongCars
      @KyleLiongCars  Год назад +2

      Pros of turbo:
      More power for the same, or lower displacement
      Better fuel economy (compared to same power NA with larger displacement)
      Cons:
      Additional part that COULD fail over time

    it a good mpv. by the way,4at is very reliable. cvt is not recommended for 7 seaters.it will wear a lot carrying that load thats why they used 4AT. even mercedes uses 4matic in a lot of there products

    • @KyleLiongCars
      @KyleLiongCars  Год назад +2

      Nahh I still think it needs a CVT, or maybe a 5 speed A/T. Btw, Mercedes 4matic means all wheel drive, and does not pertain to the transmission. They use terms like 4G-Tronic for that

  • @dickmelsonlupot7697
    @dickmelsonlupot7697 Год назад +5

    I wouldn't advise switching the 4-speed with a CVT though.
    Although CVT has superior fuel economy, it struggles when trying to push it to the limit and when the Xpander is full.
    CVTs will struggle making enough torque to push a fully or even partially loaded Xpander.
    Plus CVTs are expensive and will force the price of the Xpander to skyrocket
    A better alternative would be to find a 5-speed or even 6-speed regular AT since they will be far more efficient than a 4-speed especially at higher speeds, will also have the reliability of a normal AT and most importantly will only be a cheap upgrade than going with the CVT since ATs with more gears are cheaper and more reliable than a CVT.

    • @KyleLiongCars
      @KyleLiongCars  Год назад +2

      Ok I agree. I’d still take a CVT over a 4 speed, but a 5 or 6 speed AT would be even better

    • @Oggiwara1
      @Oggiwara1 Год назад +1

      @@KyleLiongCars I would prefer an 6 speed auto. But that would not happend at this price point. So I would prefer a modern CVT as they deliver in Thailand and other countries.

      @KyleLiongCars  Год назад +4

      Depends on the car. Most CVTs rubber band, which is not a nice feeling. Good CVTs are okay. Either way, a CVT would be much better than an aging 4 speed

    Having driven this and its newest competitors rn, I'd say this is the best by far in comfort and driving dynamics, despite still lacking due to the comfort-tuned suspension. I will disagree tho on the transmission part, I'd rather have this and be able to easily access the engine's torque rather than having a CVT that not only will make this sluggish but a pain in the ass as well if anything goes wrong with it. I managed to get 14km/l in mixed conditions and 18km/l on the highway, all thanks to that cruise control which is a big plus for me. The only one so far that has such feature among its competitors.
