  • I'm loving the new backyard Koi pond, and that is due in part to the filter I"m using. It makes cleaning and water changes so easy! I have the Laguna Clearflo 2000 with UVC that handles up to 2,000 gallon ponds. Mine's not quite 2,000 gallons, but it's close. I had another filter working with it, but had an issue with the pump that I need to get fixed. Overall, it's doing a good job keeping it as clean as I need it. I don't mind if I can only see 18" deep. This creates cover for the fish to hide from predators, but also hides the black rubber and folds in the material. See how easy it is to clean this filter and keep things running in tip top shape!

Hi Tony.. I have the same Laguna setup.. My pond is so little I don't have to clean the pump all season. I do clean out the filter once through the summer.. Great stuff. They pond is magnificent!! =D Have a wonderful weekend!! ♥♥

Then as you know, it's a great filter! So far, I've had to do basic cleanings every week. Luckily, it's really easy and has been beneficial for my plants as well. :) I'll probably do a full cleaning soon and open it up to see what it looks like. Have a great weekend DebTim

Do you unplug the UV light before going through the cleaning procedure?

    • @hooktherapy

Yes. I always unplug the light when there isn’t water going through it

Scraping the filters is the easy part. How do you clean the filters when they're si clogged you need to take them out? That's the real "cleaning your pond filter" process.

With this system it was easy. Unclip the top, pull it off and rinse it all. Takes about 20 minutes

use the handle not the cord to pull it out of pond= long stick with hook to grab the handle and unplug first.

These pond videos are sick! Wondering how much money you've spent on the entire pond in total.

+Adub Johnson thanks Adub. In total, I've spent around $1,500 including plants and some of the water conditioners.

Creative Fish Studio wow, that's actually a lot less than I thought it would be. I guess it's not huge but still that's impressive. I think it would be awesome to do something like this later in life. You got a good thing going man. That big fish in there is really neat as well!

A few items were the bulk of the expenses: Filter, Liner and rocks. I could've made a DIY filter, but most of those are big and would've been hard to hide to keep the look I wanted. In the end, I'm happy with the cost and what I got from it.

Tony Not to be a hater. But why don't you put larger tubing on your system it is capable of the larger tubing will increase water flow, as it is being restricted by the small diameter hose . Also in the pond hobby we do water change Wednesdays with the amount of sludge it looks like you are behind on that. also do you add bacteria to help break down the sludge. Also there is a new product on the market called NUALGE on amazon to help prevent green water. I like your pond you just need to fine tune it and it will be awsome.

+Robert Hansberger thanks Robert. That's not being a hater, those are good questions and suggestions. I need to get a larger hose. I used what I had laying around. I am trying to find out what more to do to get it under control. The last month has been extremely hot. I've been doing a water change every Saturday and sometime 2x a week. I also started using Tetra Sludge Reducer weekly. Definitely need to get my second filter running

Ill be that guy i guess. Never clean a filter you plan to reuse with tap water. It does more harm then good. We seen that hose clean :)

Peter Griffin that wasn’t used for filtering. That does filter junk, but mainly keeps things out of my fountain/bubbler. I have two other filters that house beneficial bacteria. The other is to protect the pump and fish.
