i use the zv-e10 with the sigma 16mm f1.4 lens as a webcam most times. 720p quality over USB-C is good, but 4k24 over HDMI with elgato usb 4k stick is better. i use usb-c for notebooks and elgato for desktop. REVOLUTIONARY!!! Thanks Mark as always!!! Can you try S-Log2 with the ITU-709 matrix color profile? Just want to see if there's any visible dynamic range difference?
So what is a better vlog camera ? The zve10 with a wide lens, or a Nikon z30 with kit lens? The zve10 with an additional lens is then almost the same as the zve1
@@spirittravels. Imho the ZV-E10 is for sure the better vlog camera (than the Nikon Z30). However, if you _do_ want to get into the Nikon system, the Z30 may be a good starting point, but the ZV-E10 is a much better camera. A ZV-E10 with an additional lens (for example a Sigma 16mm or 30mm or Viltrox 23mm) will be approximately around $1000-1150, if you get the ZV-E10 stock price ($698). If you get it used, however, you can really cut down prices, and the whole setup could be less than $1000, which is less than half the price of the ZV-E1 currently! Of course, it's up to you to decide, but the ZV-E10 is never a bad starting point imo.

Hello, I think it would be interesting for you to make videos about even the smallest things about cameras, because there are things I don't really know. Many times when using a camera, I can't use all of its features, but thanks to you, I now know more about the features and uses of the camera. Thank you, and every time your video appears, I always watch :) Even though I don't have those high-end devices, the entertainment spirit is very good. :D Rarely does anyone on RUclips have a funny and cheerful face like yours.
I love my small rig lights and soft boxes- pro level videography at a really affordable price. I honestly think the lighting gear set up for a shoot gets way more attention to give you that professional look to people watching you work, than the camera setup when shooting on location! Lol.
I'm confused with all these profiles. I guess it depends on personal preference but finally, which one is the best? Can you show us the S-Log3 settings? Is there anything that we have to change to the default?
If you want to reduce banding (which happens alot with shooting slog 2&3 on 8 bit cameras). Add at least +20 saturation to the slog 2 or 3 picture profile. And in post when you use the transform luts (like leeming or phantom or Sony s709 lut) reduce the overall saturation by the percentage you increase it in camera and banding is gone or severally reduced. I prefer phantom luts. They give a very natural cinematic look equivalent to arri log c.
Your videos have helped me quite a bit. I started a welding RUclips channel for fun, but I already want to step things up and do other content. I've cleared out a small room in our house that was mainly being used for storage to use as my mini studio. I just got a ZV-E10 along with a Sigma 16mm lens. I went from a GoPro 7 to a GoPro 12, and from using the GoPro mic to a Comica wireless one. I then started debating using my older A6000, but the lack of 4k, and no mic input make it less than ideal for video. I'm about to paint, once that's done I can start setting things up! Any color recommendations?
a grey is great. not too light or dark. medium (or middle grey like the grey card) Great for skin tones and you can change the colour by shining any light on it. also great for knowing your white blade is proper.
I know this is odd, but is there a way to send video in from an external source to the zv-e10 to monitor from the flip screen? Dont ask why ;) Can't find any info on it.
I have ended up with pp off. Did some hlg and can easily see how much better it is than ppoff. But then i grab my cam for a few photos, and since I'm usually in a hurry, or just being quite whimsical, i shoot a few rounds before realising that im in hlg mode on the photos too. Of course nothing you can't save by using the raw files. Nut more often than not I just want to use the beautiful jpegs straight from the camera. Wish i could have different settings for stills and video.
Thank you soo much for this video, I've got a Zv-E10 a few weeks ago and I'm still practicing, I've read that when you shoot in Log-3 you have to use the ETTR technique ( from +1.7 to +2 MM), but when I'm trying to increase the Metered Manual, I've got this message "Not available in the current ISO setting. Valid when set to "ISO Auto". Could you give me some advise, please. Thank you in any case
Haha I’m so glad you were wrong bc I have had a ZVE10 since day one and I’ve been hoping that the slog 3 was not as shit as the internet made it out to be. The ZVE10 is so much more capable than it should be at its price it’s true value that keeps it right around the #1 selling camera on Amazon even with many more newer better feature Rich cameras but nothing beats the value of that DOUGIE!
hi and help! I‘ve just picked one of these cameras up but too many items are greyed out in the menu..And it is only offering me 25 p 100 m and 25p 60m...I have tried the factory reset bit it made no diffeence. I am sure I have missed a trick here but cant work it out. Am going to post my sos to some other posts..
Thank you for reminding me about those excellent LUTs. Quick question: Do you notice any unusual color artifacts, especially on the skin? RUclips's conversion should eliminate most of them, so it's hard to tell. However, I've been able to fix these issues by increasing the saturation by +20 in Picture Profile and then reducing it in post-processing. It's a good tip for anyone having the same issue.
great video again sir, aside the great videos where i learn new and beneficial things every time, sometimes i pop in to watch your video because of that beat playing in the background, it's so groovy. is it custom made for you/your channel or you got it off a song or instrumental?
Hey Mark, thanks for posting this! Do you have a tutorial without the Leeming LUT? I tried following this by using Sony's LUT (since its free) but can't seem to replicate colors even with a color checker passport. (Also following another tutorial with the color checker.) At some point, I will get the Leeming LUT, but can't right now.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I appreciate your quick reply! And looking forward for that tutorial! 🥲 I hope your RUclips channel skyrockets to the stars! Wishing you all the success and recognition you deserve.
Hi. I'm about to buy a ZV-E10 or a6400 for you tube. What is the best nowadays. zvE10 has more usefull plug ins, but the a6400 has еру Viewfinder and flashlight (could be usefull if i decide to take a photo). can't decide. Which one is better in 2k23/2k24 ??
The zv-e10 is a little better for video because it has the flip out screen and gyro data and e-stabilization and an updated autofocus. The evf is definitely nice for photos, but I would still recommend the zv-e10
On 8-bit Sonys, turning off internal recording and recording to ProRes on an Atomos Ninja V adds a lot more latitude for grading SLOG2/3, it also 'solves' the quirk of losing face AF and the 30 minute record limit using an external monitor (on an A7III, etc.)
Your excitement is absurdly contagious. Thanks for that. Question. I have a color checker for photography, what's the difference with the one for video exactly? Can I use the one that I have for video?
you can use that for video, but it doesn’t have the same swatches in the same places. the video editors can sometimes just automatically line up the video checker and do it for you. And more importantly, the video colour checker has the black, middle grey and white strip which makes it easier to adjust you exposure. but you can make any colour checker work, just marks out the black to white chips and you’ll be able to do a similar thing.
The photography one won't align with the vectorscope.

You have any video about comparing internal recording 8 bit 4:2:0 and external 8 bit 4:2:2 from zv-e10? I’m curious if it is any difference after color grading 😊
I don't have a video about it - but my eyes can't tell any difference whatsoever. You might notice it is you are doing a greenscreen - but not most footage
Mark, I did get the Sony ZV-E10 as you suggested for indoor talking head videos for RUclips. (I still don't have the Sigma 16mm f1.4) All the other things you talk about here seem overwhelming to say the least. I don't want to become a cinematographer or video expert but do want a decent looking, kind of pro/cool looking video for RUclips and talk about my topics. *What would be the simplest way of doing this, with less amount of extra gadgets, least amount of tweaking, and the least amount of settings?* Do you have a video or video series for those people like me? Thank you for all you share and teach.
Hello, I watched you and bought the zve-10 with sigma 16mm lens for my own media site's RUclips channel. You are a great content creator. I'm glad you're here. But I have a question for this video. I am still a beginner. And I like how you shoot slog3 like in this video and then add lut and add sharper effect. But final cut pro is very expensive. Can you do it through Davinci Resolve? Because it's free. I really need this. Thank you,
Absolutely - in fact - I would recommend you use Davinci Resolve over any editing program. Even though it is free - it is the best. You can just add sharpening in camera (turn to 0) or do a search on how to add sharpening in Davinci
Thanks man. Need to save this video for a more in depth review. Will you be doing an in-depth workflow between zv-e10 and ninja v, including exposure? Your landman (landman?) Undone made a couple of them with the legalization toggle and set up but I think you can beat him in his terrain! And it will help us mortals to understand better!
Hello, I'm thinking of buying this as a backup camera for Canon R6. What would you recommend as an affordable lens? Unfortunately, prices in Turkey are very expensive.
Mark, as the ZV e10 world’s top expert 😊, I have a question only you may know: if I output 1080p60 via HDMI to an Atem Mini, without recording internally does the file format for rec settings (4K or 1080p) would impact the HDMI output quality? Like, if the camera set to record in 4K would it output a better 1080p via HDMI? Thanks a lot for you input and keep the great work on this marvelous piece of gear!
it’s possible, because Gerald Undone showed setting the A1 camera to 8k but recording to a 4K recorder made better footage. but I’ve never tried that. Maybe give it a test a and do a side-by-side
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisWill do and let you know. I don’t want to loose the eye tracking on 4k30 and I don’t like 4k24 for streaming, but I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the reply, next pint of apple juice is on me 😊

Been thinking for a while to grab this, however I’m also considering FX30 or even A7C II. I just started doing some video content and I want something that I can see for both videos/photography. What would you pick?
try using Slog3 but set in camera color to IUT709 instead of sgamut and do the color space transformation in Davinci resolve; just transform the gamma from slog3 to rec709. it looks imho better than slog3 to 709 leeming lut. problem with 8bit slog is not in gamma but in colorspace; using 709 eliminates color noise in 8bit and gives the superior image.
Wow what a great video, i cant lettery see a difference thata so important between those cameras.. i have the zv e10 also.. but banding with slog 3 is realy soft image
Nice video as always. So which picture profile do you recommend for outdoor shooting such as vlogs or cinematics so that we can get the maximum dynamic range possible? ( my self and the sky😂)
If you are shooting in the bright sun, you’ll have to choose between exposing for the face or the sky on even a full frame camera. Production companies will use giant sheets of diffusion for outdoor shots in the bright sunlight
Thanks for the content as always, Mark! I thought I wasn't missing out on Slog3 but now it might be back in the toolbox 😅. i use the zv-e10 with the sigma 16mm f1.4 lens as a webcam most times. 720p quality over USB-C is good, but 4k24 over HDMI with elgato usb 4k stick is better. i use usb-c for notebooks and elgato for desktop. The picture quality is so good! Its outstanding! and you have full control over everything! no faulty windows driver, messing around with settings, or dont offer access to it!
I've sold it already, your video makes me miss him :)
We need the same video but with Slog 2!!! Amazing as always!
Well, Mark, we sing your praises. Yes we do.
I can honestly say, you have become the Ron Jeremy of camera channels!

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis 😜😆
Because of my skin tone, i use custom zebras in my fx cameras at 41. Then I use the fujifilm conversation lut or the official sony and make tweaks.
ohh - have to try that!!
REVOLUTIONARY!!! Thanks Mark as always!!! Can you try S-Log2 with the ITU-709 matrix color profile? I think DSLR video shooter made a video about it and said that was the setting that gives maximum dynamic range while not breaking up the colors.
Can you do a S-Log3 vs HLG3 comparison?
@@CornerstoneWorshipTutorials thank you for the detailed update.
much appreciated 👍
@@spirittravels. No problem at all!!

Great video mate. Little zve10 is amazing in every aspect. Keep well gorgeous.
That’s a nice comment!!
I love my small rig lights and soft boxes- pro level videography at a really affordable price. I honestly think the lighting gear set up for a shoot gets way more attention to give you that professional look to people watching you work, than the camera setup when shooting on location! Lol.
It’s true - someone setting up lights means business!!
They give a very natural cinematic look equivalent to arri log c.
yes. the phantom LUTS are great.
My shots become super dark when I apply the LUTs. I have to manually increase the brightness until it looks ok. what could be the reason ?
I still hope a zv-e20 will come out soon with 10bit and ibis. A zv-e1 with apsc sensor basically...
I am shocked. Nail exposure and white balance and you are good to go. Nice.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks Mark, I really appreciate it!
I know this is odd, but is there a way to send video in from an external source to the zv-e10 to monitor from the flip screen? Dont ask why ;) Can't find any info on it.
not that I know of
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yeah it's an unusual configuration. I'll have to look into affordable external monitors, all i need is a vhs cam reference.
If I lock the shift sensitivity, would I still lose the face focus with this zebra setting?
The ZVE10 is so much more capable than it should be at its price it’s true value that keeps it right around the #1 selling camera on Amazon even with many more newer better feature Rich cameras but nothing beats the value of that DOUGIE!
this is a good time to be wrong!!
hi and help!
Hi there! Try to switch pal/secam.
Thanks! Mark Bennett replied last week to my question..
What settings and log do you recommend for gym videos
Thank you for reminding me about those excellent LUTs. Quick question: Do you notice any unusual color artifacts, especially on the skin? RUclips's conversion should eliminate most of them, so it's hard to tell. However, I've been able to fix these issues by increasing the saturation by +20 in Picture Profile and then reducing it in post-processing. It's a good tip for anyone having the same issue.
I think the skin tones look good if I white balance and expose well - but I do increase the saturation in post
could you try to achieve the best result possible with a kit lens....Im a big fan of your work
HI , what about low light ????? can u recommend which profile for low light , we are planning to shoot a horror shot film
ppoff is best with bad lighting. But the best thing to do is light your borrow movie well, and make it moody in post
I've been HLG3 since you recommended it and have noticed you using other of these profiles. I'll give this a go.
Always nice to see what’s possible
Great video Mark 👌
Do you post photos/videos of your creative work anywhere?

Hey Mark, thanks for posting this! Do you have a tutorial without the Leeming LUT? I tried following this by using Sony's LUT (since its free) but can't seem to replicate colors even with a color checker passport. (Also following another tutorial with the color checker.) At some point, I will get the Leeming LUT, but can't right now.
I’m going to do a free slog3 tutorial in a few days. I’ll include a conversion LUT (that you can make yourself if you want)

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you! That's exactly what i wanted to hear🤝
Really helps a ton on the a7iii
Hello, what best lens for zv E10 for birthday or baptismal? Thank you for answering
Probably sigma 16 f1.4
Your excitement is absurdly contagious. Thanks for that. Question. I have a color checker for photography, what's the difference with the one for video exactly? Can I use the one that I have for video?
you can use that for video, but it doesn’t have the same swatches in the same places. the video editors can sometimes just automatically line up the video checker and do it for you. And more importantly, the video colour checker has the black, middle grey and white strip which makes it easier to adjust you exposure. but you can make any colour checker work, just marks out the black to white chips and you’ll be able to do a similar thing.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis cool. Gracias
The photography one won't align with the vectorscope.
In your opinion, which is the best for recording in the studio for RUclips? What configuration you use in PP? And you use exposure in +1.7? Im from brazil, thanks for sharing knowledge
need your settings from AF to metering ETC
I have some on the channel about settings. But A New one is coming out soon

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis this LUT will work for both pp8 and pp9 ? Thanks 🙏
Mark, I did get the Sony ZV-E10 as you suggested for indoor talking head videos for RUclips. (I still don't have the Sigma 16mm f1.4)
All the other things you talk about here seem overwhelming to say the least. I don't want to become a cinematographer or video expert but do want a decent looking, kind of pro/cool looking video for RUclips and talk about my topics.
*What would be the simplest way of doing this, with less amount of extra gadgets, least amount of tweaking, and the least amount of settings?*
Do you have a video or video series for those people like me?
Thank you for all you share and teach.
Hello,
I watched you and bought the zve-10 with sigma 16mm lens for my own media site's RUclips channel.
Hey, can you do a video on Catalyst Browse vs Gyroflow stabilization?
don't feel bad! even I didn't know this and I'm not from Newfoundland!
Just French kiss a raw Cod and you lol be much more learned.
ok but how did u set up the zv e10 to shoot in slog3?
pp8 is slog3
I love your content sir. This little beast gonna be my first camera.I want you to shoot some wildlife with zve10. ❤🇮🇳
I have personally bn using slog2 and cine2 quite a bit, and I’ve had no problems . I prefer the look of those to the hlg3 in my workflow.
how would you recommend we set up the camera, though?
For the LeemingLUT he tells you how to set it up - you can read the setup instructions without buying the lut
Hello, I'm thinking of buying this as a backup camera for Canon R6. What would you recommend as an affordable lens? Unfortunately, prices in Turkey are very expensive.
try the sigma 16mm f1.4
Sir. Can you make a comparison between Sony a6700 and Fujifilm XS20.
if I can get one in
Unapologetically handsome.😊
I love your videos Mark! Unfortunate that I just returned my Sony zv-e10 for the fx30 but I'd love to see an HLG3 comparison to S-Log3 on the e10
you’ll be VERY happy with the fx30
Thanks for the reply, next pint of apple juice is on me 😊
For better lighting, do what I do and light a candle turn off the lights start recording and make sure you do not blow out the flame on the candle. Test for low light and call your new lighting system Flickering Light. Cheers!
thanks for this video! if i shoot overhead content, unboxing reviews etc. do i expose for my hands with the 85 zebra then?
yes.
wow,that is great sharing 😍😍👏👏
I am using slog3 on zve10 for the start and wondering why you are saying it will be falling apart.
Nice video though
it does not fall apart if you shoot well and colour grade appropriately - which clearly you must do
Im in the mindset that they wouldn’t add it as a feature if it wasn’t useable? ive found over exposing 1.3-1.7 is the best way to get good results with this setting. Really enjoying the ZV-E10.
sir samyang v-af 24mm T1.9 vs Samyang 24mm 1.8 Compaing video please ( becouse this 24mm length sony A7iv 4k 50p/60p corp mode 36mm . ) 24mm& 35mm. this is my fevotait leanth
get the 24 f1.8. you will want that autofocus my the phot camera lens. it will likely be more reliable
Can you please make a dedicated video on the Viltrox 75 F1.2 z mount... (How the auto focus work with the Nikon Z camera and all the other test that you do please....!!!!)
the Nikon mount will perform the same as the Sony mount lens - so - in outer words - it’s amazing. Check out my Emount review if you haven’t already
Been thinking for a while to grab this, however I’m also considering FX30 or even A7C II. I just started doing some video content and I want something that I can see for both videos/photography. What would you pick?
I would get the a7cii if you want photos and videos
Hey Mark, absolutely love your videos and humor. But with all seriousness. ZV E10 or ZV 1 for some fitness videos and on demand content shooting ?
I would do the zv-e10 with the sigma 16. you’ll be happier in the long run
I was literally just looking up the zv-e10 with slog3 and here you are 😂
Haha
try using Slog3 but set in camera color to IUT709 instead of sgamut and do the color space transformation in Davinci resolve; just transform the gamma from slog3 to rec709. it looks imho better than slog3 to 709 leeming lut. problem with 8bit slog is not in gamma but in colorspace; using 709 eliminates color noise in 8bit and gives the superior image.
Wow what a great video, i cant lettery see a difference thata so important between those cameras.. i have the zv e10 also.. but banding with slog 3 is realy soft image
you, I just start trying slog 3 for the sony zv e10 yesterday, with itu709 matrix it is soo good
Nice video as always. So which picture profile do you recommend for outdoor shooting such as vlogs or cinematics so that we can get the maximum dynamic range possible? ( my self and the sky😂)
The cine2 profile with the LeemingLUT is what I use. You won’t always be able to get the sky though with any camera if it’s too bright outside.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisis cine 2 a picture profile like hlg or slog? And even can't we expose sky and face with a full frame camera?😮
For someone who doesn't need to color match between different cameras as you need, which would be higher in your rank: Cine2, HLG3 or Slog3? The ZVE10 is my only camera and I'm going with Cine2 with the Leeming Lut Pro currently.
I would choose cine2 overall. You get a great image and you don’t have to overexpose and if you mess us your settings - it’s easier to recover

anything remotely close to lowlight will have the image fall apart. so if you need to bump your iso off the base - you’ll start to get weird colours
