Thank you for this video! I’m glad you told the truth about not needing upgrades and certain gear. I was set on the MK2 because all these RUclips reviewers and videographers say you need 10 bit and a touch screen. Aside from that, since this is my first Sony, coming from canon as a somewhat past beginner stage photographer, what lens should I get if I’m wanting to make more cinematic and captivating, filmic style talking videos first?? I have a budget of $550 for lens and want something that’s versatile until I can obtain different focal lengths etc. what would you recommend if you could only afford one lens for the ZVE 10?
I am glad that the video was beneficial to you! If you will be doing a lot of sitting and talking, the Sigma 16mm 1.4 is a great lens as it is wide enough for small spaces yet it can focus at a close distance as well. It's a SOLD lens and I highly recommend it. I did a review on a a while back which I will post below. Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave feedback! 👍🏾 ruclips.net/video/IpBjHs8xOjA/видео.html
@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia thank you so much for this response! I’m glad you mentioned small spaces because I’m mainly filming in my room or the extra room in my tiny apartment. 16mm will definitely suit me well. I’ll also check out that review! Thanks again! I’m finding a lot of value in your content so I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us hobbyists and enthusiasts!
Did a YT search for 10-bit vs 8-bit and this video popped up - so happy it did! I've been struh-gahh-ling with SLOG3 for the past 2 years. About 2 months ago, I decided to revert back to simple PP off, NT creative style (with a few tweaks) - and my footage has gotten 1000% better! Now I am trying to figure out if I should keep shooting in 140M 10-bit or drop it down to 100M 8-bit. Thoughts on that?
First of all I am happy the hear that the video was beneficial to you! Here is my opinion on shooting in 10bit and going after "Looks". If you are doing client work, as long as they are happy with your final outcome, then that's really ALL that matters. When it comes to your own work. It REALLY depends on who is consuming your content. A lot of the time, those of us who are "INTO" photography and video often obsess over the way something LOOKS because it provokes feelings within us. In my own experience I have come to realize that MOST people don't perceive the differences in sharpness or color saturation that "we" may often see it IMMEDIATELY! So the question becomes "what's more important to you?". A higher perceived quality by you, or TRULY honing in on what it is your are talking about, teaching or telling your audience. Lastly, I can tell you that LIGHTING goes MUCH father than simply shooting in a higher bit depth and bit rate. Keep mind that reaping the benefits of shooting in 10bit REQUIRE knowledge in lighting, exposing and color grading. I hope this answers your question! Thanks for taking the time to watch and support the channel! 👍🏾
Great video as always. If possible, could you test the new Mark II kit lens with the original ZV-E10? I’m really curious about how the OSS + Active Mode works on the older camera model. The original kit lens doesn’t seem to provide the best results, and there’s not much info out there about how Sony’s new optical plus active stabilization works together in the updated kit lens. It would be awesome to see a comparison or review! Thanks a lot!
If I am able to get my hands on one I will definitely make a review about it. I am not sure if the image quality is any better on the new lens though. I did make a video on the kit lens a while back. I will post the link below. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Kit Lens Video - ruclips.net/video/AP10RiuAY3U/видео.html
@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia Thank you for your response! I agree, the new kit lens probably won’t drastically improve image quality since it’s still an affordable option, but the enhanced stabilization is the key feature I’m interested in. Given that videos are often uploaded to platforms like RUclips, Instagram, or TikTok where extreme quality isn’t the top priority, having good stabilization can make a significant difference. I look forward to your review if you get the chance to test it out. The combination of Optical SteadyShot (OSS) with Active Mode on the older ZV-E10 could be a game-changer for reducing shake and the dreaded jelly effect, especially for handheld shooting. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!
I don't often shoot s-log with 8 bit however, I think it may be helpful to some to see the workflow and what you can expect/get with 8bit footage. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for taking the time to watch and support the channel!👍🏾
I agree, the last year i just pickup the zve10, in that moment i consider too the a6700, i know every plus and minus from both camera, but for the newbie like me, i think zve10 better buy bcs, its cheaper, can take good photos, good 4K24 beside the rolling shutter ofc😂, but with the price gap between zve10 and a6700 we can buy more lens, battery, sdcard, wireless mic and etc😁
I 100% agree with this logic! You can get MUCH more for your money going this way! After getting what you need to get your camera up and running, I would STRONGLY consider looking into lighting next! This part is what till take EVERYTHING to the next level! Thanks for sharing your experiences and thanks for watching! 👍🏾
Thanks a milli, this mark2 marketing is bonkers. I hear you being sensible, I also "Don't believe the hype". I've been using a canon M50 for the past 4 years but don't think the focusing is up to par. Is the E10 mark1, better?
Yes 100% the hype is out of control! Honestly just about all cameras that are available today are MORE than capable of getting VERY HIGH quality results! Sony has some of the best auto focusing systems around! The Sony OG Sony ZV-E10 is no exception! The OG ZV-E10 has EXCELLENT auto focusing capabilities and performance! Still one of the best around! Thanks for watching and sharing your feedback! 👍🏾
I am glad you liked the video. I shot this on the Sony ZV- E10 using the Sony 3.5mm 1.8 lens (FOR APS-C). If you look in the description, all the things I used to film this video with are in there. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Sorry.. I think I made a mistake and commented the wrong comment under your comment.. Another person asked me about the lens that was used in this video..😁
@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia oh no no Am sorry that was my question. But I asked while watching your video. Then later I saw you have mentioned you used 8 bit means I zve10 🙂
This was shot on the OG Sony ZV-E10. I will not be purchasing the Mark II based on the video linked below. Everything that I used in this video is in the description below the video. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching! 👍🏾 ruclips.net/video/zZXX5nRMxIs/видео.htmlsi=WOMJYFPP7eccRqyy
I have bought zv-e10 yesterday because I needed 4K, I had a5100 which have only FULL HD. I see difference in quality too like less noise, and in low light it is crazy good and detailed😁. The sensor must be little bit better too because it is from 2021. I bougjt it really cheap. I don' t need 4K 60fps or 10 bit, so I don't need it and the price is really high.
I am glad you found a camera that works for you! I am sure you will create some awesome videos and photos with it as well! Make sure to pick it up as much as possible and shoot! You will only get better with it each day! Thanks for sharing your experience and thanks for watching! 👍🏾
You missed the argument for getting ZV-E10 mk ii as a studio B or C-Cam. It is neither 10bit nor 60fps. It's because if you already have an FX30 or 6700 and you consider having the exact same sensor, for this purpose only and considering the price, it's worth it to go for mk ii, not as a main cam in any circumstance.
I hear your point however, this argument doesn't fit the theme and messaging of this video. The theme is 8bit vs 10bit. The theme is also centered around those who don't already have a camera and are looking to purchase their FIRST camera. 03:17 Many reviews are listing "10 bit" as a HUGE new AWESOME feature that is a GAME CHANGER, so my video's purpose is to expose the truth about 8bit vs 10bit. This video isn't about matching footage or streamlining your workflow. I do appreciate your feedback and taking the time to watch! 👍🏾
@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia I did watch till the end, the comment is based on what you say triggered the need for a clarification in this video. All you said is valid though. Nobody should upgrade solely for 10bit over 8 bit. And 60fps and more is really for slow mo. Keep it up man
Very good video. My wife and just started our channel. We currently use my iPhone for the camera. I’ve been looking into the OG zv-e10. What lens would you recommend for us to use? We sit next to each other in a smaller space. This camera will stay on the tripod and never leave the studio area.
@@KristenandKylePodcast I'd recommend one of the sigma primes at f1.4. Depending on the distance to the camera I'd say 16mm if very close or 30mm. Mind you, you can crop in with Active steady shot without quality loss and eye/face focus tracking. So I'd say 16. But again see what distance from the camera you have. If you buy the camera with the kit lens it will be easier for you to figure out the right focal length. Peace.
The ten bit is not even necessarily better and you are 100% correct there are a LOT of tubers who overkill just because they feel good. RUclips even 4K is overkill.
*Most people can't tell the difference between 4k60 & 4k24 let alone 8bit vs 10bit and THEN they need a New Computer JUST to edit in 4K as integrated is NOT enough so now you're lookin at A LOT MORE then just the Camera which people DON'T figure in this. 1080p60 is still Good Enough for a lot of content creators; 4k is nice as I shoot in it but I also Build My Own PC otherwise from a Mac perspective you're GONNA by the Pro the Air MAYBE with 16GB of RAM BUT, the Pro is going to be better at editing so unless you're willing to either 1. Build your own (which can be built for less then $500-1000 Just got editing) 2. Going to buy a PC with a dedicated GPU. So it's simpler just to get the ZV-E10 with a decent Lens and you'll be Fine*
I agree with everything you said! There are MANY factors that aren't considered when people buy cameras. I mainly think it's because SPECS and features are TYPICALLY highlighted in most camera vides. Rarely do people talk about actual WORKFLOW and what goes into actually USING said gear. Spec driven content is what people LOVE to watch though... Thanks for watching and commenting and supporting the channel!👍🏾
@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia exactly it's more then just the Camera, there's more then just the lighting and all of that. If you don't have a Computer that can put all that together and edit well you're going to be disappointed lmao
@@z352kdaf8324 what I'm saying is even with all that, you still need a PC to edit it and it's still an APS-C camera, people who aren't fimilar with 8bit and 10bit will think it looks the same, I shoot in 4K60 on my FX30 and I can tell the differences but one's a cinema camera and one isn't. But there's still a crop none the less so yeah it's an improvement but only half way which isn't saying much because vlogging is more so much about moving around and a camera with no IBIS just seems kinda pointless when Action Cameras have them even a $240 GoPro has stabilization so this certainly should have had one others just get the a6700
@@BlackapinoTheTechGuy well I don't use ibis on either my zv-e10 or fx30. gyroflow. anyways - I saw a comparison of the non-ibis zv-e10 II ... and one with .. look so much better on the zv-e10 m2. I think it was Jason Morris channel. So, don't knock it until you've tried it. I have no need for the zv-e10 m2 myself...
If you have good story telling skills you don't even need a camera, the phone is going to be good enough. The issue is people are really particular about how they look regardless of what the viewership thinks or how much money they make...
I think you bring up a great point that people are concerned about how they look on camera. I just wish more people knew that LIGHTING was the key to getting the look you want and not 100% the camera. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching! 👍🏾
RUclips does support HDR content however, the person on the other end has to have an HDR monitor to be able to see the difference. Also what codec the video was encoded on makes a difference as well. I hope this helps! Thanks for taking the time to watch! 👍🏾
I have a zv-e10 with a sigma 30mm 1.4 but when I try to use raw for photography it says file format not supported/ Raw files? Looking to see if anyone has this problem I have a sandisk extreme plus
i bought the mark 2 and im not gonna use 10 bit, cuz i want quickly upload vidoes for social media and the people there im sure they dont care or they dont r not able to know the difference so yeah
EposVox proves that one can be successful at making videos even when the videos are completely horrible to look at (in his case, purposefully for the sake of retro aesthetics.)
I have never heard of this RUclipsr, I will have to check them out. You bring up a good point which is that the content should dictate what look to go after instead of things being the other way around. Too often, many people focus on getting the BEST gear FIRST, then try to make content with said gear. Ultimately, they end up not producing anything because they feel as though they don't have what they need as far as gear goes. The gear should follow the inspiration, not the other way around. Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel.
In my opinion you dont even need camera for youtube. My kids watch bunch of channels with millions of subs and often it is just small picture in the corner of the screen with artificial background and filmed with webcam. As it come to talking head videos any Dslr from last 10 -15 years ago will be just fine. But some of us 😂 (including me) just like to try out new stuff. But yeah people used to shoot art and blockbuster movies with much less then OG zve10.
100% The biggest RUclips channels are MUCH more about the content than they are the aesthetics. I am not against having expensive gear however, I AM against people being TOLD that they NEED this gear to even think about starting. So many people are afraid to pull the trigger on cameras because they are afraid they will buy the wrong thing! They are also being sold on camera SPECS and not how to develop their skill behind the camera. I agree that for certain content, people don't use a camera, lights or even a mic. There are many faceless RUclips channels that do pretty well. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback and thanks for watching!
I 100% agree with the pricing of the new ZV-E10, $1000 is too expensive for what you get, just save up the extra $300 and get the A6700 or save $300 and get the original ZV-E10.
I like the $300.00 comparison in both ways that you did! 👍🏾 I agree. There’s not too many reasons to NOT get the A6700 as it’s literally the best Sony hybrid aps-c camera you can get that isn’t lacking something in a BIG way. 🤷🏾♂️ Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback and thanks for taking time to watch the video! 👍🏾

I am currently working on some interesting ideas for this channel! Stay tuned!
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! 👍🏾
Whoa wait I’m so glad i watched this i didn’t know that you need studio to do 10bit

@@АндрейСмолин-е9ю no problem! I will keep you posted! 👍🏾
Thanks for the detailed breakdown and explanation..can you please upload your workflow of shooting and colour grading ZVE10 OG Slog footage..
I loved this video quality.
Thanks for the feedback! Thanks for continuing to support the channel as well!👍🏾
I am glad you liked the video.
I shot this on the Sony ZV- E10 using the Sony 3.5mm 1.8 lens (FOR APS-C). If you look in the description, all the things I used to film this video with are in there.
I hope this helps!
Thanks for watching!
@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia thanks lot
Sorry.. I think I made a mistake and commented the wrong comment under your comment.. Another person asked me about the lens that was used in this video..😁
@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia oh no no
Am sorry that was my question. But I asked while watching your video. Then later I saw you have mentioned you used 8 bit means I zve10 🙂
Was this video shot with a zv-e10 ii? And if yes, then possible to know what lens and lights were used? Thanks
This was shot on the OG Sony ZV-E10. I will not be purchasing the Mark II based on the video linked below.
Everything that I used in this video is in the description below the video. I hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate you taking the time to watch as well!👍🏾
You missed the argument for getting ZV-E10 mk ii as a studio B or C-Cam.
Many reviews are listing "10 bit" as a HUGE new AWESOME feature that is a GAME CHANGER, so my video's purpose is to expose the truth about 8bit vs 10bit.
Peace.
@@prozekutor thank you for responding.
I disagree. The new sensor is much further of an advancement than the previous old sensor. No more 4k/30 1.23x additional crop, even in 4k/60.
Do socmed platforms allow 10bit video uploads and if I view 10bit content on an 8bit display, will the difference be seen?
RUclips does support HDR content however, the person on the other end has to have an HDR monitor to be able to see the difference. Also what codec the video was encoded on makes a difference as well. I hope this helps!
Thanks for taking the time to watch! 👍🏾
I have a zv-e10 with a sigma 30mm 1.4 but when I try to use raw for photography it says file format not supported/ Raw files? Looking to see if anyone has this problem I have a sandisk extreme plus
Yes. End of story.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching. 👍🏾
i bought the mark 2 and im not gonna use 10 bit, cuz i want quickly upload vidoes for social media and the people there im sure they dont care or they dont r not able to know the difference
so yeah
100%
The biggest RUclips channels are MUCH more about the content than they are the aesthetics.
I agree. There’s not too many reasons to NOT get the A6700 as it’s literally the best Sony hybrid aps-c camera you can get that isn’t lacking something in a BIG way. 🤷🏾♂️
