My cat Sam looks like Dexter and he helps me in the garden also. My rose of sharon does very well. I have had it for years but it is a bush and I trim it way back when all the leaves fall off. I live in Ontario California. I noticed you were in Ontario, Oregon.

Dexter!👍🏾. I removed the Rose O Sharon from my patio corner because the flowers on the pavement were so slippery and when they root they break and crack the concrete. Not great in an urban setting. I replaced it with a pear tree.
So beautiful! I have a Rose of Sharon bush, it’s very green and has purple blooms. Just not growing the way I thought it would. I have it in a tall container, it will be 1 year old this September. After watching this video, I too, am going to plant it in the ground, see what happens. Thank you very much for all of your very informative videos! 😉

I agree with so many other posters Laura, you should plant somewhere a small garden area with things specific to cats. Herbals & such that cats just love. It would be so wonderful to do for Dexter! =) He's such a wonderful cat. I love cats like him with a boisterous personality.

I'm an animal freak, pet groomer:) love, Dexter kitty! You should get a rescue pup that can travel with you from work to home in your lovely yard. Their an extra pair of eyes and really great nose and ears:) just saying. We have Mr. Kitty that rescued us 2012 move and he has been a blessing to my husband who works out of our home. Our pups like him too!

Do I cut the rose if sharron in the spring? Last year I only got a few flowers.
It blooms on new growth so be careful where you make you cut when pruning. Cut "above" a leaf node . It will branch out and bloom more. (that's what all the other growers say to do...I'm sort of new at it. :-0 )

I have a question about the rose of sharon. Don't yours make babies every where? I have 3 near my pool and there are a million or more babies now all on the ground under them. Not sure what to do because its hard to pull them out. What do you do with yours? or do you have a different kind that don't make a million babies?
