Fantastic information on the Goshiki Koi. As always, you are a professional, you know exactly what you are talking about. I prefer Number Ten and number Six, because of the steps and the Red Color intensety, also I think once the Sumi develops on the Fish it will look incredibly nice. Stay safe and take care Sir.
My picks are 5 7 9 and 10.. Patterns 4 might be interesting.. Its very underdeveloped but I think its a hidden gem.. Just something about it.. Thats my opinion for all thats worth lol. Hope all is well my friend. Great video
Nice picks, I agree with them kind of. As you probably have heard 😉. I believe 4 is a little bit overdeveloped, so the other way around. The sumi intensity is already heavier. That will be fine though I believe, so indeed it is a keeper, you are right! I'm doing great, you as well? Enjoying your pond still? Take care and enjoy!
@@Aboutkoi My dealing with goshiki is limited.. And you are probably right on number 4. I probably saw a shiny penny and was distracted as it was good now but probably not later. I enjoy your show. My ponds are good. Fish are down pretty low. Not moving as we are in the middle of a very cold snap and have already had snow. The fish I needed to bring inside are very comfortable. I will be uploading my fish room video soon. I will also be releasing a video from a koi nursery that I help in the summers culling koi fry.. They don't have goshiki. Lol. As for me personally I am well. Just tired and frustrated like everyone else with covid. Miss my daughter who is out west. Anyways.. Thanks and stay in touch.
Ahh, hope you learned something new by watching the video! Good to hear everything is going well. Seems like it is already really cold there. I hate that period of the year. Inactive Koi :). Nice that you have the possibility to bring them indoors! Do you heat them during the winter? That will be awesome for growth on your fish! Take care and stay safe in these weird times
@@Aboutkoi I only bring my tosai koi in.. They are in a separate pond. I dont heat my ponds.. Irregular natural looking ponds.. I simply couldn't afford. Please have a look. Growth of my shubunkin are great.
Ah right, yes you will need a lot of space when you bring your larger Koi indoors as well. Tosai is still doable since you don't need a huge tank for them.
Thank you, happy to hear👍. No I believe eye color really is a thing. On Gosanke blue eyes are have a great contrast on the red skin. What is important is that the red is not laying over the eye. At this stage the breeder does not pay a lot of attention to it.
Excellent Video as always. Goshiki selection is sort of based on Kohaku selection, Showa is based on all black fry from 2 to 3 days old. So what would be the criteria for culling Goshiki Showa? As two methods of culling appear at odds with one another!
Thank you for the compliment. To be honest I am not sure how Goshiki Showa would be selected. My assumption is that Goshiki showa are selected as normal goshiki. So the same culling technique as mentioned in these video's. But I do not have the experience with this variety though
@@koiartist3000 there are breeders that do breed Goshiki Showa. I've seen them at Aoki a couple of years ago. I don't think there are many of them though.
Very detailed explanation even though I am little difficult to translate it. My request please provide an English translation so that I can understand more easily. Thank you for this video😁👍🏻👍🏻
Your break down is much appreciated :)
I'd love to see them when all grown up :)
Thank you! Yes me too, would be lovely to follow some small Koi during their development. I'm thinking about setting up a small project!

If female koi reach 60cm would it produce 100k eggs? If not How big is the koi lays 100k eggs?
Difficult to estimate to you. I think 100.000 night be doable. Might be that it needs to be a little bit larger
@@Aboutkoi 75cm female will do?
Yes for sure! Maybe even more
