- In this Koi video, Shawn will introduce us to a Fresh New Generation Look into the age-old Goshiki Koi Variety. Talking about bloodlines, breeder selection and three very different varieties within Goshiki.
We want to challenge you to look closely into these three beautiful Japanese koi and pick your absolute favorite! If you could only pick one, which one would you add to your collection?
Through this exercise, we will teach you what to look for when selecting a high-quality fish using high quality one-year-old Tosai specimens. Shawn uses Japanese terms to explain the things you should look for when selecting one of these stunning Goshiki in this extensive koi discussions exercise.

I'm glad to see you are posting to RUclips again! I followed your ecosystem playlist to build my pond about a year ago. I started with just wanting a water fall, but I got 15 koi fish and now they are my babies! Everything for the koi!

#2 all those clean steps. Love the orange at the base of the tail. Would rather a more even face (similar to #1) but he is a pretty.

Bred goshki to white matsuba the spawn from the two topped out at 70cm with much milder body and kept the light grey
I like the one with the heavy reticulation (#1), I think black hook may be the pick though.

Whoa! How far did he get? If I had to choose I’d rather have a lot of medium sized koi as opposed to one or two giant koi. My fav is #1 although Mr ‘I’m tired of being in this bucket’ is my #2.

I think he chooses number 1. But I would choose Jumper because of the clean red pattern and because bigger is better

there is a lot types of goshiki,kuro goshiki ( black base ),traditional goshiki,kindai goshiki,nezu goshiki,memeshibori goshiki,ginrin and doitsu goshiki,i think ur goshiki is, two kuro and the other one is kindai goshiki,cmiiw

No. 1 is my pick but no.3 seems like the first stage of jumbo goshiki I would be interested in no.3 once the fusion has matured.

#2 Black hook all the way..I think when it gets bigger the red will not be nice to look at..but that little bit of red on the tail..soo unique
I think Shaun will go #3 cause of the pattern and the colour will change as it gets bigger and be more silvery
I would have chose #1 but the red blotches are too close together and there's too much black in the red..
