Number 2,7 and 9 surely are in my top picks as well! I like number 9 a lot, it will become a nice Doitsu Kohaku most probably. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 👍
I'm going with you for the number 9 as favourite, it's a nice Doitsu Kohaku for sure. Also the Tancho (2) looks nice currently and surely would be selected by a breeder as well, needs some time to develop to see what it going to happen with the pattern. What do you think of number 1 and 7? For number 8 it surely looks like an unique pattern/Koi. A breeder would most likely not select it though, it only shows one red small marking in the middle of it's body. For a Sanke a breeder would consider it as not enough 'pattern' (red) visible. It would be a nice unique Koi to grow out though and see what happens. Thanks for your reply and stay safe.
Agreed, they are not the best ones in the net. For the breeder worth the effort to grow them up for a couple months and reassess again. It are most likely sellable Koi.
Ya it looks quite unique. Even though it is not really a good sanke if you take the aspects to select on into mind. Would be nice though to grow it out and see what happens.
Hi there, you have some nice picks for sure! Thanks for sharing. I have high hopes for number 9, a nice Doitsu Kohaku. My Doubts though for number 8 that you mention. Orange/Red won't develop on that Koi, so it is going to look very dark (the marking on the head is not a red dot). Let's hope for the best for this breeder!
Nice picks. Personally I like the Doitsu Kohaku (9) a lot. Honestly I'm not a big fan of number 8. It only has a really small red dot on it's back visible. It won't have any more red when it becomes larger, for that reason I would not pick it. What do you think of for example nr. 1, 2, 7?
2 and 9 are very nice choices when you ask me. For number 8 I myself have my doubts, but I see that many people seem to like number 8. What is for your the reason to select number 8, because of the shine?
Thanks for your comment! 2 and 9 are surely nice Koi. 2 is a nice Tancho and number 9 is a doitsu Kohaku with good potential. For myself number 8 is not a great pick, I think it does not have ve enough red. Sure it is quite an unique koi though, maybe for that reason it would be nice to grow it up 👍
I would select 2, 8 and 9. For sure they very beautiful. Thank you very much. Great video and I gave it the #218th like. 😊 Stay safe and take care Sir.

@@Aboutkoi hello there sir.. I have a question.. If a koi is not even a japanese koi.. Can a koi develope and be like those japanese koi just by taking care of it?? (feeding, water, tank) im talking bout the quality (size,color,physique).. Or japanese koi are totally different??
Hi there, if you mean it is a Koi that is bred in a different country. Then yes it will also develop like any other Koi. The (grand) parents of these 'Koi' are most likely also Japanese
Number 2 and 9 are surely good choices. Number 2 seems to be a nice Doitsu Maruten Showa (round red marking on the head). Number 9 is a Doitsu Kohaku which seems to have a good body posture and a nice pattern. Number 8 I myself have my doubts, it will most likely have not enough red markings on the body. Only on the middle of the body is a red marking, the rest will be black and white. Not a preferred pick for me, but a nice experiment 👍
Thanks a lot! You made some great picks as well. Number 9 is a great Doitsu Kohaku. Number 7 is also a nice balanced Doitsu Sanke. What do you think about number 1?
@Joko Kurniawan, that is quite hard to tell at this point. At least it shows some indications that more white will be visible. When a Sanke grows the fish is stretched a little bit, and some part of the pattern won't 'stretch', meaning more white area's will become visible inbetween the patterns. If you look closely you can see some white in the tail area. And also in the middle section already some white can be seen. Time will tell. A breeder would select this Koi as well.
@@jokokurniawan4060 1 is good but there isn't a tail stopper. Also there is not much white or breaks in the pattern...you can see some white so i guess at this stage the risk is worth taking...it was one of my selection originally.
Exactly, worth the risk & effort to grow it up for a couple of months and see what happens. Probably it is surely sellable for the breeder, which also counts.
Large nets are used by slowly dragging them through the water. For small ones like these usually that happens two or three times to make sure as many as possible are caught.
Hi there, do you mean next to the dorsal fin on the left side? Most likely what will happen is that it will turn into white when the skin gets thicker. It could happen that the orange becomes darker, but usually it doesn't really develop it all.
Yes nice picks. Did you also see number 2 and 7? I think personally I would not pick number 8. It looks unique, but it doesn't have enough red on the fish for me.
Number 9 is most probably the best one out of your selection of three, I personally like that one a lot for sure as well. Number 8 is honestly not a great Koi. It doesn't have enough red if you ask me (or a breeder in Japan ;))
Doitsu with a few scales will also stay, or even when they are almost fully scaled. If the Koi has scales, then it is just a normal 'Kohaku' instead of a 'Doitsu kohaku' or a normal 'Sanke' instead of a 'Doitsu Sanke' for example. But this breeding is purely focusing and breeding on the Doitsu variety.
That depends a lot on the breeders. Some breeders do take their Koi apart and grow them larger, to about 5-10 cm and then sell them as lower class Koi. Other breeders completely discard them - they only want high quality (think about the 'higher tier' or the more famous high class breeders)
That depends on every breeder. Some breeders do select them and take them apart to sell them later during the winter as smaller low quality Koi. There are also breeders that do completely discard them
All of the numbered fry are good choices, but I've chosen #8; not because it is the best sanke, but for its unique pattern. #7 would be my choice for best sanke as it appears to have well spaced smaller areas of sumi rather than larger areas like showa.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. Indeed most Koi do have a little bit of potential and could be kept to grow out larger. However, on some you can already spot that they won't become really good. If you look at number 3 for example, it doesn't have any red from the middle of the body until the tail. Most likely a breeder will not select that. Number 8 is indeed a special Koi. Personally I would not select it, when that Koi will grow the red marking will only be really small in the middle of its body. When koi grow up, the pattern grows a little bit more towards the back. So there will be more white visible beneath it. For that reason the red marking will start to look even smaller. Would be a nice experiment to grow it out to learn from. It's not the best Koi out of these 11 for sure though.
During the first and second selection, breeders usually do not grow out the others. Some breeders do take them apart to sell them as really cheap/low quality baby koi. Most however will become fishmeal.
It depends on the breeder. Some breeders discard them completely, but others grow them out to Koi of around 7-12 cm size. And then sell them end of the year during winter time to dealers all around the world as cheaper Koi.
Hi there, some breeders do take their Koi apart that are not selected and grow them a little bit larger. These will be sold as low class koi for a lower price. Other breeders do discard them, it all depends on the breeder.
Hi hello there. 1 and 9 would surely be in my picks. Also the Doitsu Tancho (2) and number 7 as I can see from the picture. Number 8 I have my doubts, it only has one really small red step on the middle of it's back. This most probably won't be enough for this Doitsu Sanke, so in the end balance will be missing. It does specially follow the standards for a Sanke. Thanks for your comment! 😀
It depends on the breeder. Some breeders do take them apart and grow them a bit larger. When they are around 8-13 cm they will be sold to customers. For other breeders they completely discard them.
Hi there, nice picks! I especialyl like the #9 Doitsu Kohaku. Number 8 is in my opinion not that good, it won't have enough red when it grows larger, only a small step in the middle of it's body. Still quite a unique Koi though to see how it will develop 👍
Thank you will I've started in koi keeping for 2years now and doing my own way of culling. the doitsu kohaku(#9) the pattern so nice and possibly have a potential to win in koi show. And with the #8 it has this unique pattern with its body and also the head of it 😊
For baby Koi it especially is important that a lot of algue growth is happening. This encourages a lot of microorganisms that can live in the pond. More microorganisms means more food for the baby Koi
That is true. Spirulina and chlorella are mainly boosters for pigmetation/color. But it is proven actually that spirulina does have a positive effect on growth rates as well. However only really low. I have read research paper about it a few years ago. Perhaps you will be able to find it if you search for it, something like: "effect of spirulina on growth rate carp" (I don't remember the title honestly)
Hello sir.. I have a question.. In terms of koi breeding.. Who has the more dominate gene.. Is it the female koi or male koi.. Who's gene the fry be having most of the time??
Famale decides the body shape more, which is the most important for koi. And colour quality gene is mostly decided by male. Pattern is more likely random.
That all depends on the breeder. Some breeders do take their Koi apart that the have not selected. And grow them out a little bit larger to like 5-13 cm. To then sell then for low class Koi. Other breeders completely discard them...
It depends on the variety, a lot of breeder select at around ~3 cm. Usually that is around 4-5 weeks. Then after 5-7 weeks a lot of breeders do their second selection already
hi, i'm from vietnam can i buy small koil 5 to 7 cm from your farm? If possible please tell me the minimum quantity and price when coming back to Vietnam, look forward to receiving a response from the camp in the nearest day.
The Doitsu Kohaku (9) I have to fully agree with you! Number 2 is true indeed, it has black in the red dot on the head, and can become a bit more and darker. But personally I think that black in the red dot and some black on the body can look very beautiful! 👍 Number 8 looks quite unique, but it is not a great Koi. The red marking on the middle of the body is quite small, when baby koi grow the red markings will grow more towards the back of the Koi. Meaning that on the lateral line more white will become visible from above. The red marking will start to look rather small, plus it will be the only red marking. For that reason a breeder normally won't pick it.
@@Aboutkoi Thanks for the reply! For #9, I chose it mainly because of the dot on the head, which I thought would be some sort of cool Tancho Sanke or Tancho Goromo later on. Is that a wrong assumption? EDIT: I meant 8
That depends, the breeder will most likely not sell them at this moment of time. He prefers to grow the best ones a bit larger and then sell them for higher prices
They should sell the koi fry they don't want for cheap so we can buy cheap koi at the local fish or pet stores. Most of us don't want to pay $200 for a koi. We want the experience of having a koi
Hi there, unfortunately we don't sell any Koi. We just try to share knowledge about Koi. Hopefully you will be able to find a nice dealer in your area!
9 is a nice Doitsu Kohaku, yes for sure! I wouldn't pick 8 personally. Not enough 'pattern' or red visible. Also there is no red on the head. It could be a nice experiment though!

Do they or you discard the doitsu with scales/? Or does the pattern override the fact that they may have scales
Doitsu with a few scales will also stay, or even when they are almost fully scaled. But this breeding is purely focusing and breeding on the Doitsu variety.

Thank you will I've started in koi keeping for 2years now and doing my own way of culling. the doitsu kohaku(#9) the pattern so nice and possibly have a potential to win in koi show. And with the #8 it has this unique pattern with its body and also the head of it 😊
2 and 9 are the best.
Nice choices for sure!
1 _ 6 _ 9 love them.
Very nice choices! Number 9 is a nice Doitsu Kohaku for sure
Why the water is so green? Did they put chlorella or spirulina in the water?
For baby Koi it especially is important that a lot of algue growth is happening. This encourages a lot of microorganisms that can live in the pond. More microorganisms means more food for the baby Koi
They don't use chlorella or spirulina, some breeders do add for example chicken manure to increase the growth of algae
@@Aboutkoi alot of koi food on the market are using spirulina and chlorella for growth.. does it really help or just marketing?
As far as I know male indeed will have largest influence on color.

2,4,5,8, 9 and 10... please tell me why not

Nr 9 for kohaku and nr 4 for sanke i would pick
Nice Choices! The number 9 Doitsu Kohaku looks promising
9:05 one of the baby koi had legs , are they evolving ?
I'm not sure if you're joking but if you're not, that's a frog tadpole lol
@@candiedragon Sorry im British , I was joking
Interesting videos . Love your channel
Oh oh! 🐸🐸🐸
Frog tadpole indeed 🐸👍
What happens to rejected fish????
That all depends on the breeder. Some breeders do take their Koi apart that the have not selected. And grow them out a little bit larger to like 5-13 cm. To then sell then for low class Koi. Other breeders completely discard them...
Sir what is the procedures to import koi in India from Japan
Plz answer🙏🙏🙏
Honestly I'm not sure. Are you able to find a Koi dealer in India? Maybe you can ask them and see if they can help you import a box of Koi.
what size to first select???
It depends on the variety, a lot of breeder select at around ~3 cm. Usually that is around 4-5 weeks. Then after 5-7 weeks a lot of breeders do their second selection already
Thanks video
You are welcome, thank you as well!
How do I tell if my koi is a male or female
I've made a video on this topic before, watch this clip and you will learn all characteristics to look at: ruclips.net/video/aXextLLdm8M/видео.html
hi, i'm from vietnam can i buy small koil 5 to 7 cm from your farm? If possible please tell me the minimum quantity and price when coming back to Vietnam, look forward to receiving a response from the camp in the nearest day.
Hi there, I am very sorry. We do not sell any Koi ourselves, we are just here for sharing knowledge and content about Koi
9 & 8 are the only two I would have bought.
9 for me kuhaku is my favorite colection
That Doitsu Kohaku will surely look good when it grows up. It is a safe pick! What do you think of number 1 or 2?
9 and 2 for sure
Two with potential, the Doitsu Kohaku and Tancho. What do you think of number 1 and 7?
hi bro nice video, for me i select 1,2,7
Thank you, I hope you enjoyed. That are some nice choices you selected. Have you ever selected baby Koi by yourself?
@@Aboutkoi nope not yet bro thanks
If you ever have the opportunity, try it 😀. It really is a great experience and a good way to learn how Koi develop
8 and 9 for sure. 10 to be adventurous. 2 is cool but sumi is already in the red dot... it will get even darker later on, right?
The Doitsu Kohaku (9) I have to fully agree with you! Number 2 is true indeed, it has black in the red dot on the head, and can become a bit more and darker. But personally I think that black in the red dot and some black on the body can look very beautiful! 👍
Number 8 looks quite unique, but it is not a great Koi.
Yes that might happen, if it becomes a red round dot on the head it is called a 'Maruten' Kohaku. Can be very attractive! 👍
@@Aboutkoi i'm sorry, I meant 8 for the Tancho comment.
Which kois would you pick personally out of the examples? Beside 9.
1, 2, 7, 9 at least! For nr. 8 I honestly don't think any red will be visible on the head after a few months time.
8 is must ,9 is must,2 probably
Nice choices! Thanks for your comment
I would select 2 for sure and if I had to lick another it would be 8
That are nice choices! Number 2 is a nice Doitsu Showa. I would personally also select number 9 for sure!
What price for one?
That depends, the breeder will most likely not sell them at this moment of time. He prefers to grow the best ones a bit larger and then sell them for higher prices
9 I think that one was literally the exsample
They should sell the koi fry they don't want for cheap so we can buy cheap koi at the local fish or pet stores. Most of us don't want to pay $200 for a koi. We want the experience of having a koi
You can get Koi from Japan for as cheap as around € 5 to 10 ,- in Europe. Is there really no place where you can find them for a lower price?
100% I bought to 5cm koi from a shop yesterday for $25 each went to a breeder today and bought better looking koi for $2 each
2,8,9 from Philippines ☺️👍
Nice choices 😀. What do you think of number 1 and 7?
@@Aboutkoi that's is a sunky
@@maikocabansag8903 A sunky? Not sure what you mean 😀
Sir, I'm Shahab from bangldesh. How can buy koi from you. Let me know pls
Hi there, unfortunately we don't sell any Koi. We just try to share knowledge about Koi. Hopefully you will be able to find a nice dealer in your area!
Sir what if the pattern is black instead of red?
what kind of koi is that?
Is it good or bad?
Do you mean entirely black with red markings? Then it might be a Hi Utsurimono
@@Aboutkoi
Sir I mean
Kuhako has orange pattern
But my fish sir has a black dot between his eyes and black patterns covering his body.
@@enma4010 That's probably a Showa. But I'm not sure without seeing the Koi

9... I'd also take 8 even though it doesn't check all the boxes because I want to see what happens.
9 is a nice Doitsu Kohaku, yes for sure! I wouldn't pick 8 personally. Not enough 'pattern' or red visible. Also there is no red on the head. It could be a nice experiment though!
HHB
2 & 9,,, 9 is the best of them all
9, the Doitsu Kohaku is nice indeed!
How many variety r in koi
Many! Hundreds of varieties, and every year new varieties are introduced or experimented with breeders
@@Aboutkoi super bro can u make a video for koi varieties because nobody have idea about it and also not have good knowledge video in RUclips can u have time just make it for really TQ for replying to my comment ❤️

Hello, I am wanting to buy a sanke koi, I am not sure but I think it's a good pattern. How can I show this sanke to you? Via your social media?
Hi there, yes you can! I'll have a look at it and give you my opinion (from image always a bit more difficult though)
@@Aboutkoi allright, where can i send the pictures to? Your email or something?

#9 nice
Yes!! That's a very nice Doitsu Kohaku
I will go for the number 9
That's a nice Doitsu Kohaku 😀. Did you also find the Tancho?
Boa tarde! ! Como posso comprar uma dessas carpas?
It is not really possible to buy any of these carp. The breeder will grow them larger and sell them afterwards. Usually you can buy Koi like this at an age of around 8-12 months as 'Tosai' at a Koi store. Not sure if you have these as well in your country.
