You did a great job on this video. Crisp, clear and to the point. I'm looking at a RT188P right now. I don't have that many more years seriously fish...can't wait 10 more years at this point, so I guess it's now or never. Thank you for your service!
Thank you for your service. I just bought a RT178 with a 60. I have not picked it up yet, but looking forward to it. Your video was very inclusive with the products on and around the boat.
TH Marine sells cables to use for compartments instead of struts. I put them on my G3 and they are cheap and work perfectly. They come in different lengths.
Good review. Agree totally on the motor size. Buy what you need. Your boat zips right along well anyway. I've got a 25 on my old tub; doesn't compare to yours; and I've won plenty of money in tournaments by fishing the areas I choose thoroughly. I watch big boats coming and going and at the weigh in they come up empty. Can't fish while you're driving. Best of luck.
Good job on this video young man. Congrats on your first new Boat. I love it. Thank you for your service, it is greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work, enjoy your new boat. I hope you get many many many more years from this wonderful first boat sir. Dale
Good review. I have had my RT178 for one summer now. Bought it brand new in January 2020. This is a great boat for someone that is wanting to get there first bass boat.
I like this guy hes just telling you about the boat and he seems to really like it i give you a 10/10 your not crapping on people who buy better stuff because at the end of the day if you can afford i 100K bass boat GREAT if you cant GREAT its all about what you need and what you plan on doing!!!
Pretty sure that Central IL lake is Newton lake lol. I wish I could fish it, but I have a bigger outboard. Smart idea getting the smaller motor if you are planning to fish there a lot. I’ve been told the bass fishing is crazy good just because there isn’t as much fishing pressure.
Ha, I know where you filmed this! I catch a lot of bass in there in the spring/summer. I used to fish there tons ... I would put in at either Pungo for a quick run or West Neck Marina (great fishin'). I also would put in at Blackwater Trading Post. Had some good luck in there in the spring ... summers were tough. Like the boat. Active duty Navy myself and headed up to DC last summer.... learning Potomac, Lake Anna, and Occoquan.
I like seeing guys taking an economical approach to bass fishing. You don’t need a 100k boat to go catch fish but that’s where the bass fishing market is now unfortunately. I rather spend the money on tackle and other gear and not have a massive boat payment.
Nice vid man and good looking boat. I love my aluminum boat and so does my bank account. I’m new to the area but found bob’s fishing hole to be a nice place if you’re a bass guy. Haven’t had any luck out at pungo yet but I’ll keep trying.
Also, it would suck to fish a lake with HP restrictions. I have an 18 ft G3 with a 90 Yamaha and it only runs about 39-40. A 25 HP motor in a boat with 3 batteries and full tackle load and 2 people would be miserable. It may barely get on plane.
What is the display/screen size of your Lowrance fish finder? Did Ranger install the finder on your console? Could you have had Ranger install it higher on your console for better visibility?
Thats hilarious we had same complaints lol had mine couple years take your front storage bins out there is no foam underneath i use mine As storage the whole underside of the boat i also added all gas struts easy and cheap amazon also you can buy the whitecaps on amazon 30 bucks with keys theyre all keyed the same
Daniel did you cut it out and put different bins in there? I have the same gripe. That and there's no room for passenger rods. For the life of me don't know why we wouldn't get a rod ramp over there instead of a ledge with a cup holder lol bugs me feel like cutting that out too. I assume there is foam in there...
@@phillipthure388 there is only foam in the rear area front is all hollow ... I removed the bins and used the floor underneath for storage makes For a big area .... simple as unscrew and pull out both front bins I used door guard on the edges because the aluminum can be sharp
Did it come factory with a 4” setpack static plate? Im in central IL also and also have rt178...wondering if i could get a bit more out of my 25 if i take plate off
It all depends on what trolling motor you option for, when I first saw it on the lot it had the 24V Fortrex so it came with 2 deep cycle batteries and 1 cranking battery. All of which were Interstate brand. Honestly I don't see a need for anything larger that a 24V 80lb motor. If you look on the Ranger Boats website it comes standard with a 45/45 edge which I assume would be only a 12V, meaning it would only come with 1 deep cycle and 1 cranking battery.
My Ranger that I ordered from Cabela's came with the 45 lb Minn Kota but I called them and then to have them put on the Terrvova 80lb motor. So I guess I'll see.
No, where I'm fishing at is the North Landing river, its part of the ICWW near Chesapeake, VA. The lake that I'm referring to in Illinois is lake Sanchris near Rochester, IL.
Awensome boat, its my favorite alu bass boat, but the 25 hp is miserable for a boat like this.. It's like having a Porsche with the engine of a fiat 500.. I would have chosen at least a 50 hp

That runs ok I wasn’t sure if I would get a 60 or 75. I think the 60 will be fine
Thanks for a great walkthrough. Good job.
You ever go north? Toward richmond/Fredericksburg? Some good fishing round here. Saw a rt178 this morning otw to work and had to know more THANK YOU

I suck too bud. Great review, thanks for serving too.
Thank you for your service🇺🇸🇺🇸
Beautiful boat
Very nice boat!
Love the boat and I love Googan baits too! #JoinTheTakeover

Nice boat!! A bigger motor won’t catch you more fish. 👍
Nicee! Looking to get my first boat this year. Thanks for the video! Black and blue trenchhawg if your not already thowing it!
How is that green color holding up? Seats etc
How does it handle the waves...and what size waves to avoid, not take the boat out?
Late comment but I think I saw you the other day on legjune

What size prop are you using?
What lakes ya fish in Illinois? I live next to Coffeen
Did it come factory with a 4” setpack static plate? Im in central IL also and also have rt178...wondering if i could get a bit more out of my 25 if i take plate off
No it’s bolted straight to the transom
Nice video
What’s the speed you can get out of it with 2 guys and the live well full?
Only about 17-19
Nice boat too bad it’s underpowered. Does it even plane out !
Did all three batteries come standard with the boat?

Very nice! New to your channel
Dude!

what upppp.. im from upper illinios...
I bought gas struts from my 178 from ranger and you will miss at least a 60 hp
For the price you should of went with the 188P, don’t think any lake is worth wasting $23k
So I have a RT188P on order. Basically $50k. I suspect it will spend 95% of its' time on one lake. Did I waste money?
