Sure they went back for sean and micah when they got captured, but Jack was different, he wasnt picked up by the outlaw life, he was born into it. Uncle Arthur, Uncle Dutch, Uncle Hosea. They all had their unfortunate ends due to the outlaw life but Jack saw them fondly growling up.

      @@JP-297 the guitar part that’s starts at 6:24. I’ve always equated it with Arthur since it shows up throughout the game. You hear the same guitar part from 7:35 in the “Sadie Adler Widow” track, which was when Sadie and Arthur finished off the O’Driscolls. The orchestral chord progression in the back is also similar to the “You’re my Brother” track. Guitar riff/motif is in that track as well and that’s the one song a lot would probably say is Arthur’s “American Venom” . It’s kind of a slight variation of the motif that plays for the gang sometimes throughout the game. If it’s not entirely Arthur’s motif/theme I’d say a mix of Arthur and the gang maybe. Obviously blended/mixed in with John’s theme in this particular track.

    I just *adore* every aspect of this game. The missions, the characters (good and bad), the music, the dialogue, the story... Even the way the story's *told.* Instead of doing what most video games do and just giving you the plot armor and importance of every other main character, the game puts you in the shoes of a gunman in one of the few bands of outlaws left during the late 1800's. You don't get to make the decisions. Dutch does. You only get to *respond* to the events in the game, rather than trying to shape them for yourself as the protagonist. It perfectly recreates the feelings that Arthur had when things started to fly off the rails. That inability to do anything about other people's mistakes apart from doing your best to deal with it. You're really only *along for the ride.* I can't speak for the rest of us, but I certainly felt as desperate, impatient, and irritated as Arthur did. I can't thank Rockstar enough for giving us all such a breath-taking masterpiece. (Rest in Pieces, Micah. You one-eyed rat.)

    My uncle once watched me play this mission. I didn't realize he was already sitting on the couch behind me until he said that dutch seems badass.
    He was a biy reluctant about playing this game since it's made by rockstar and GTA games just doesn't hit him right. He just thinks this game is a cowboy version of GTA. But then after watching me play through this mission, he said he's gonna give it a try since this specific mission caught his attention because of the music and all. He then proceeded to ask for my psn acc so he could download RDR2 on his console.
    I was in his home that day, me and my cousin watching him play through the game after downloading it, he said the prologue seems boring and slow. After that I had to go home.
    A few days later, I visited my cousin and when I walked in, I saw my uncle playing the game, shooting some O'Driscolls on some bridge near Valentine and laughing his ass off when he shot the guy's neck and tries running away while blood runs down from his neck. From that point on, I knew he started to love this game.

    What I love about this mission is that Dutch is riding a white horse which is a reference to Revelation 6:7-8 “And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.” Basically, the Van der Linde Gang brought an apocalypse upon the Braithwaite’s. i remember the walk-up clear as day, and every other memory from the story is blurry for me. the walk-up was fucking crazy to me, because in that moment i was so emotionally attached with the characters and i ALWAYS spoke with jack whenever i went to the camp. hes awesome, a G even. when they kidnapped them i was all like "aw hecks naw" and i was ready to give my fucking life for jack. when we rode there, i felt so fucking cool. then the walk-up happened. thats probably the coolest ive ever felt playing a game. walking up to the place where the child was kidnapped, ready to take on a whole fucking army if i had to. we were all walking there in a line, suddenly gaining coordination the likes of which put superman to shame. all of the characters and i were ready to take on the world and BRING ON a world of pain onto everyone that contributed to the kidnapping of this child. it was in this moment that i realized that these gang members, no matter how different they all ended up being by the end, in this moment all collectively knew that jack was all that mattered. we were all brothers in this moment. we were willing to all put it on the line for jack. it didnt matter if they were "civilized about this" or whatever dutch said, we were gonna kill each and every one of them anyway.
    so uh yea its a pretty good mission ig

    The perfect soundtrack to describe a group of Vigilant Heroes, who are helping, protecting and saving lives without following the conducts and ethnics of the law because of how truly unjustifiable and corrupt it is.
    The Van der Linde Group falls into that type of Vigilant Group, in my own perception.

    • @mechcannon
      @mechcannon 2 года назад +11

      But this scene was really just them getting fucked over and hitting back. Like they weren’t really being noble here, they were just doing more and worse. They aren’t vigilantes, a lot of their killing and robbery is all for themselves, petty or otherwise.

    • @aaronsoriginalworks1364
      @aaronsoriginalworks1364 2 года назад +3

      @@mechcannon
      That's the thing about the canon.
      But to me, they have potentials to become Vigilant Heroes if their stories and roles were different.
      And honestly, in my perception, they fought back against an arrogant, snobbish, wealthy hag and her scumbag sons, who looked down on those, who are not rich like them and are of lower class like any other rich bastards would do during that era in history.
      Also, she and her household probably did some illegal dealings behind the law and the public's eye, forced people to do their illegal errands so that they wouldn't get caught and wouldn't be responsible for those crimes, killed people and even kidnapped Jack just for their own personal gains.
      They don't care about anyone but themselves.
      At least, Penelope is the only innocent and decent one among them, and they treated her as a slave, whose only goal that they want is to continue the family business and legacy against her own will and freedom.
      So in a way, this mission symbolizes rich bastards' punishment and karma for looking down on others and being inhumane scums, who only want money and to be rich while also having zero respect or show of compassion to others, who are not living a rich life like them.
      And this mission is to save their boah, of course.
      In the end, the rich hag got what she truly deserved just like any other rich scumbags - Eternal Losses and Pure Poverty.
      Do you agree?

    • @bosunbill9059
      @bosunbill9059 Год назад +1

      @@aaronsoriginalworks1364
      I disagree, it is just one evil fight against another.
      Dutch and his gang shared the similar snobblishness, however Dutch is a massive hypocrite. Jack wouldn't have been kidnapped if they haven't inserted themselves into this ancient family feud as a third party, all for some confederate gold. And the reason Dutch and Hosea almost lost jack and lost Sean was that they thought they are smarter them both Braithwraith and Grays, and nobler. However, both families eventually found out and did them in, like what Hosea said "they underestimated them."
      Also potential for good wise argument could be appiled to the grays and braithwraithes with the existence of Penelope and Beau. However circumstances wise and flaws of those around them stopped it. Just like flaws of Dutch, existence of Micah turned the Van Der Linde gang into a greedy bunch of hypocritical criminals, that are eventually doomed to fail. So that argument had been rendered null.
      It is just that everyone got what they deserved, one way or another in the end, same goes for Dutch Van Der Linde's gang. Everything have its price and consequence, you just have to be ready to pay it.
