Nothing wrong with you for the experience with a Time of Blood - pretty much every big Faithful and the Fallen fan feels somewhat let down by the sequel trilogy, but man oh man does Gwynne deliver an epic finale showdown. That series is all worth it just due to the last book.
I really enjoyed Mickey7 and when you’re in the mood for a similar sci-fi snack the sequel was solid and a very different plot.
And 16 Ways was so great! I really need to continue that series
That’s good to hear - I was thinking I was just being too cranky. That said, I liked Hunger of the Gods just as much as the initial 4, so at least I can still anticipate his new releases with enthusiasm!
I will probably give the Mickey 7 sequel a try at some point. There were enough good things there that I’d like to see more, hopefully better. We’ll see if it was just the plot that underwhelmed me.
Right?! I keep thinking Parker will be my next deep dive author after I finish the Tchaikovskys.
It was a 3 star read for me too. I agree with you. I wish the main character had done more than just bumble through things.
Yeah he wasn’t very capable, clever, or anything else, really. Just novel because of his job. That might be kind of the point, but I wanted him to do more for himself.
A very productive challenge then, nice work. I gave Howling Dark a 9.5,, the final 200 pages were just awesome. I'm 40% thru Demon in White, also v good. 👍

A memory called empire...it's not just you :) that is an excuse of a sci fi book but hey, it won Hugo, so Hugo it became an excuse of an award ...And the second book is even worse... Nice video !

I liked Uprooted far more than Spinning Silver.
