I think a song of ice and fire would be really good to read on a rainy day, they're so intricate and you really get immersed in the story. I'm planning on starting the third book really soon, probably on a rainy day when I have lots of time!!
I've read all of these except Aristotle & Dante, and I agree with you. They're all pretty great. To that list I would add The Ocean at the End of the Lane and Never Let Me Go :)
YOU. You are my favorite. Ever. Thank you so much for caring about other aspects of a book besides plot - aka, character development, writing style, etc. And the way you talk about each book has me putting every single one on my reading list!!!
One of my absolute books I ever read when there was a rainstorm was 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It just sucks you in and has this really specific atmosphere anyway so once it's raining it's just the PERFECT like... zone to read that book in.
Before I watched the actual video, I was going to comment saying that Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe would make the perfect rainy day read! But you beat me to it. I also think The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater would be excellent for grey or stormy weather. The Game of Sunken Places by MT Anderson is another good one for rainy days.
that was exactly what I needed to get over my current reading slump! Not exactly the books that were recommended, but someone encouraging me to just sit down while the weather outside sucks and grab a good book :)
You should add Dune by Frank Herbert to your rainy day reading list. Dune is the quintessential science fiction book that is an extremely immersive read! It's also just fun and ironic to read a book set on a desert planet during a rain storm :P PS: The spice must flow!
This video is perfect! Hurricane Bill is definitely pouring down in Arkansas as well! I've actually ordered Enchanted due to one of your previous videos and I cannot wait to read it!!
Night Film was such an enthralling read! I keep meaning to reread it because I feel like it's the type of book you'd pick up on so many new things with a reread
I'm from the Philippines and the start of Rainy Season is here already. Today is so cloudy and a couple of rain starts to pour. This is a great book recommendation by the way!!!!! I want to read Vicious so much! :D
Thanks for recommending Night Film!!! I've been wanting to read it forever but have been putting it off. You've definitely convince me to pick it up. I feel like The Cellar by Natasha Preston is a good spine chiller of a book to read when it's raining :D
Night Film is the first book that actually scared me and it quickly became one of my favorite books. I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for you mentioning it last year, so thank you!
Hurricane Bill!!!! I love that name and how simplistic it was but it was very common! Great Video PeruseProject! And i was driving home through Texas through Bill!
*Reads title* Hey, its been raining a lot here (Texas). I wonder where Regan lives... *10 seconds later* "Its upon Texas, which is where I live" Probably lame but that totally made my day.
A really stupid thing happened with me on school today and I thought I needed to share it with you. So, my friend and I started talking about booktubers. I started talking about you without actually using your name, and said how you were my absolutely favourite booktuber ever. I said that you do a monthly wrap-up with all the books you read that month and rate them on 5. My friend said that you was her fave as well. We started discussing about your amazing hair. In the end I discovered she was talking about padfootandprongs07. heh. I hope it made even a grain of sense. That being said, I think it's pretty clear that I think you're amazing. Thank you for all your videos. I love you :)
I really want to read Aristotle and Dante... bc my friend recommended it to me and now you did too so it's a must! Hopefully I'll get to it over the summer.
All of these sound fantastic, Regan! I recently discovered your channel, and marathoning your videos has helped me get through recovery from spinal surgery (What can I say? It gets boring after awhile, and you need entertainment 😂). Keep the great videos coming :)
Classical and cliche-but I would add Harry Potter. Any book from the series. They are just those books that would work anytime-but most of all during a good rain storm.
I think that The Raven Boys would be a great rainy day read. It has a really interesting and kinda mysterious element to it that makes you keep reading it!
I do not exactly know why but this reminded me of the film Dancer in the dark, by Lars von Trier (probably the Burial Rites and Night Film. Just probably) Nice to watch, really long, worthy, a bit pretentious, and you'll cry more tears than the rain outside. But really worth watching it. I just love your videos ^^
Read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Michelle and I discussed the book on our youtube channel. We really loved Dante's personalty. He such an uplifting character!! :) Thanks for the book recommendations! -Michelle&Farah
hey Regan, I enjoy Cassandra Clare's writing during the rain because she describes the city as a wet, cloudy venue with old fashioned people and victorian buildings. yes. and ofcourse I also enjoy Historical fiction and YA Contemporary in rainy days.
Yet more books added to my list of books that I want to read... Especially Aristotle and Dante, I've wanted to read that one for so long. There is nothing better than staying in and reading on a rainy day!
Film night sounds super interesting! I'll have to check that out. Any Mary Higgins Clark books (thriller/murder mystery) would be great for rainy days since most of them are set in Cape Cod and the environment is always rainy and dark. They are super fast reads too. :)
Almost any book would be a good rainy day read. Or, in my case, when it's too hot to do anything but lay in front of the fan and read. Burial Rites was and excellent book. I'm about 200 pages into Night Film right now, and I am starting to see the "mess with your head" elements now. And I picked up Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe about a week ago when it was in the 90's and hanging out in a cool bookstore sounded like a good idea.
During rainy season I like reading mystery novels, like Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas, Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon and Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas. :)
I'm in Florida like, "Texas got the first hurricane?" STAY SAFE. I'm doing a real casual buddy-read of Vicious in July in case anyone here in comments hasn't read it yet and wants to join!
In the Night Garden by Catherynne M Valente. I still need to finish this one but I started reading it one a rainy night and it was perfect. It does have a lot of intertwined stories (i.e. This person is telling a story and the person in the story is telling a story, etc...) so it's best to read all in one sitting. When I go back to it I'll most likely start from the beginning.
I'm always looking for gifts for my husband (He's hard to buy for), and I think Finnikin of the Rock might make for a good quick read for him (that I might just steal). Thanks for the recommendation!
You need to read, "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" by: Alan Bradley. It's just wonderful and I think perfect for a rainy day! Also loved Burial Rites and yes very fitting for a gloomy day!
Please read On the jellicoe road! It's such an amazing contemporary, Melina is seriously such a great writer! I'm sure if you like finnickin you'd love on the jellicoe road aswell :)
Recently finished Night Film and absolutely loved it! Any similar suggestions ? Might try The Enchanted or Vicious. Really loved how immersive night film was, was the first book for a while that's really stayed with me and I find myself thinking about it all the time haha
I gravitate towards fantasies and more immersive series during rainy days too. Also gothic novels because they just go well with gloomy whether. I've heard great things about Finnikin of the Rock, but this is the first time I feel like someone's told me why they think it's so awesome.
So sick of Bill. And rain in general. Great recommendations! I haven't read Burial Rites or The Enchanted list, so I'll certainly try to pick one of those up the next time rain strikes TX.
There's a book that i just finished reading called Eren that is super short, only 195 pages, but really, really, amazingly good. It's by Simon P. Clark, and it comes out in the US soon, but it'll be called Tell The Story To It's End. It's the middle of winter and pouring with rain at the moment in Australia where i am and this book was perfect for reading with the sound of rain outside.
I feel like the Mara Dyer trilogy would be a really good rainy day read. I just finished the first book yesterday and it was so enthralling. Having rain in the background would make everything that much more creepy!
You inspire me so much to keep reading. How long does it take you to finish a book? How do you afford all of them? Also how do you maintain attention if a book isn't that interesting? Thanks, I'm a new subscriber (:
I think The Book Thief is the perfect book to read on a rainy day. Some others that I would recommend are That Was Then, This is Now by S.E. Hinton, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and Thirteen Reasons Why.
+AlaskaRothLancaster Yes. Mine for a rainy day: - Green Manor - Tome 1 - Assassins and Gentelmen - Green Manor - Tome 2 - The Inconvenience of Being Dead. Short stories set in 19th century London. Excellent series!
Hey, Regan! I have watched a lot of your videos, and you say that you love books which are in Russia or Russian history-ish. I'm looking forward to read something like that, would you give me any recommendations on the matter? Thank you so much! xx
Here are some rainy reads I would like to recommend: Pierced by J.C. Mells At the start of the book you aren't sure if she just totally crazy or just crazy. If you read this one you will get very hungry, Pierce, who is on the run from a vampire compound, is really good cook and just a bit obsessed with cooking. She has company in her head of Mildred Pierce and her daughter in there. Then you can always read All The Paths of Shadow by Frank Tuttle Tirlin is the both the first female mage and the youngest one. She must move the shadow of a tower for the king's speech. To add to the usual factor of an alternate earth, she has talking plant sidekick. These I have not heard mentioned on booktube so I thought you may not of heard of them.
Every Day by David Levithan because you feel like you are traveling places with the main character by just getting engrossed in the story. You learn about the world in different angles. If you read the book, or know the plot, you probably would understand what I mean when I say that. It's a beautiful story that is also kind of bittersweet.
I agree 100% about Night Film! I never get freaked out by books or movies, but I had this constant feel of paranoia going on the entire time I was reading it. Super creepy.
You've convinced me. Next time it rains I'm sitting down and reading Vicious and not getting up until I'm done.
I HOPE BILL STOPS WRECKING HAVOC SOON!
jessethereader Freaking Bill
aristotle and dante is literally perfection! it's a beautiful story, so well-written, attention-capturing and fun! definitely recommend it!
I love it whenever any book tuber uploads a new video. I'm not lying when I say it's often the highlight of my day...yeah I'm pretty sad
I think a song of ice and fire would be really good to read on a rainy day, they're so intricate and you really get immersed in the story. I'm planning on starting the third book really soon, probably on a rainy day when I have lots of time!!
It's 3am where I live and I couldn't sleep. I was so happy to see my phone lightening up saying "peruseproject uploaded a new video".. So, hey Regan:)
Ps. You should read Wuthering Heights.. It's perfect for a rainy day too.
I've read all of these except Aristotle & Dante, and I agree with you. They're all pretty great. To that list I would add The Ocean at the End of the Lane and Never Let Me Go :)
WellDoneBooks Ocean at the End of the Lane would have worked so well for this video! Damn.
That's why I'm here *sassy lady emoji*
WellDoneBooks +1 regarding Never Let Me Go, definitely the first book that I thought of when I saw the title
+WellDoneBooks I made the terrible decision to read NLMG at the end of August, and it ruined the rest of my summer.
Ari and Dante is my favorite book it's amazing
YOU. You are my favorite. Ever. Thank you so much for caring about other aspects of a book besides plot - aka, character development, writing style, etc. And the way you talk about each book has me putting every single one on my reading list!!!
Rainy day, a book and coffee- my 3 favourite things together
Anuja Deshpande so cosy. Love cosy reading night, I’m a tea person though.
It's raining a lot in my part of Texas, I keep getting flood warnings. But yeah, I loved the video!
I keep seeing this Aristotle and Dante book popping up everywhere, it's going on my TBR list! x
One of my absolute books I ever read when there was a rainstorm was 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It just sucks you in and has this really specific atmosphere anyway so once it's raining it's just the PERFECT like... zone to read that book in.

Love your choices. You are seriously my favorite booktuber!
Finking of the rock has been on my to read list for the longest time! IT WILL HAPPEN THIS YEAR!! ;)
that was exactly what I needed to get over my current reading slump! Not exactly the books that were recommended, but someone encouraging me to just sit down while the weather outside sucks and grab a good book :)
the shadow of the wind.
May I just say, thank you for Finnikin of the Rock. I'm only halfway through it, and it has already rocked me. I absolutely love it.
Wonderful timing Regan! I really needed a bookish video and this sounds perfect.
You should add Dune by Frank Herbert to your rainy day reading list. Dune is the quintessential science fiction book that is an extremely immersive read! It's also just fun and ironic to read a book set on a desert planet during a rain storm :P
PS: The spice must flow!
This video is perfect! Hurricane Bill is definitely pouring down in Arkansas as well! I've actually ordered Enchanted due to one of your previous videos and I cannot wait to read it!!
Just added all these books to my never ending TBR pile 👌🏼😆
Night Film was such an enthralling read! I keep meaning to reread it because I feel like it's the type of book you'd pick up on so many new things with a reread

Yay! A new video! ;) Been browsing through your older vids while waiting for a new release! Hehe. Great job as usual, Regan! :)
Oh Bill.. He is upon us... Thanks for the recommendations!
I want to read them all now, omg. Especially since it's raining today, haha
I feel you about hurricane Bill. Gave me good reading time tho! Gotta love Texas weather-- always changing.
I can actually hear the rain. Hope it stops soon. Great video idea. Happy reading Regan!
Love love your videos and recommendations. Don't stop!! You make me so excited to read. Really wish we could get rain here in Cali :)
Hurricane Bill!!!! I love that name and how simplistic it was but it was very common! Great Video PeruseProject! And i was driving home through Texas through Bill!
*Reads title*
Hey, its been raining a lot here (Texas). I wonder where Regan lives...
*10 seconds later*
"Its upon Texas, which is where I live"
Probably lame but that totally made my day.
I'm so glad I watched this. I've been wanting to read a book that had the same theme as Vicious but had never really heard of a good book about it.
A really stupid thing happened with me on school today and I thought I needed to share it with you.

Aristotle & Dante really is great to read on a rainy summer day. I love it.
I love how you have so many hardcovers!
Perfect recommendations! Love all your synopses!

Katie Spad I hope you get better!
thanks :)

I think The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer would be a great book to read on a rainy day! Its dark, mysterious, and it gives you many chills.
It's funny that you posted a rainy day video when it's been raining here all week too! I hope it stops raining!
I live in Houston and not a lot of rain yet as expected. But great recommendations! Thanks
Great video, love these recommendations!
I recently bought Burial Rites but I might save it for the winter so that I'll be able to read it when it's raining outside ;)
I'm always looking for gifts for my husband (He's hard to buy for), and I think Finnikin of the Rock might make for a good quick read for him (that I might just steal). Thanks for the recommendation!

Okay so 100% at Aristotle and Dante for a rainy day. Like that book is meant to be consumed in one piece A+
Recently finished Night Film and absolutely loved it! Any similar suggestions ?

Come on Bill, get it together. Actually can you send Bill my way because it's 116 here in AZ and we could use some rain.
I feel like the Mara Dyer trilogy would be a really good rainy day read. I just finished the first book yesterday and it was so enthralling. Having rain in the background would make everything that much more creepy!
