So i just want to say that over the last couple years ive replaced the throttle body 6x and each time the truck works perfect for about 6 months. This time it didnt. Id replaced multiple sensors about 2 years ago. I had 5 volts to each with key on and 0 volts with key off. Had etc lightning bolt symbol and in limp mode for 2 months. Multiple shops thought it was pcm or ground wires. Replaced the crank sensor and it runs amazning!! I had a map sensor code on and pending cyl 8 misifire. All gone and runs amazing.

Thanks so much for the logical video of how you figured this out. I'm guessing I have the same problem but now I know how to verify rather than just replacing parts.

Good video thank you. You do a great job. this is the first video I’ve seen that isn’t crap. Great job. It didn’t fix my truck but it did help.

I really wish I would've found your video earlier... My 2017 ram won't turn over and it has a shit ton of lights on. Tries resetting. Bought new battery, new throttle body, changed spark plugs. And still won't start. I was just saying to my buddy I think it's 1 thing that's messed up causing other codes to falsely read errors.. I'm gunna try this after work today. Thanks man!

I heard a rattle on 2004 Durango 5.7 L Hemi after removing crank position sensor and putting back in.
I was unable to get an ohm reading on the sensor.
Do you think the rattle is from how starter aligns back in or that rod broke?
I had heard a rattle on previous starts but it would go away after start.

I wouldn't think that rattle would be the starter. Could have a cracked flex plate or even a loose one. Had that on a customer's Dodge Ram. Had a little bit of a rattle and some other shop said he needed a new trans. After I looked at it I seen the flex plate moving back and forth.

You can check volts on back side of plug also mine turned out to be oil sending unit or pressure unit but they say us ram guys should carry crank sensor with us

Thanks for taking the time with this video! We've got a 2005 Durango with the 5.7 HEMI that keeps dying when we drive over a bump. It cranks right up every time. In fact we've gotten so good at it, that we can pop it into neutral and turn the key to start it up while rolling. Would this be related here?

      Its definitely possible.

I have a 07 that just randomly dies as well with the 5.7 , these things are a electrical nightmare, I replace cam and crank sensors every year because they fail, but now its gradually progressed into more, where there is electrical faults randomly through out the engine bay, misfire on 4 or 1 day it will be misfire on 7, one day it can be cam shaft intermittent, its the process of just going through everything and checking , Hell even low oil/wrong oil will cause these faults as well, the codes are so generic and undefined .....

My 08 charger has the p0340 code and after this I bet it’s the crank sensor , it’s a Autozone aftermarket brand so I bet it short out quick , I also replaced 1 coil pack brand new from auto zone and it already has went out problem fixed now but only code p0340 is my prob

I'm not a fan of always going to the dealer for parts. I will say Mopar is a little on the unique side where it's best to use factory parts if you can.

Rock Auto is a godsend when it comes to Daimler/Chrysler sensors. The oe NGT sensors are cheaper there than the aftermarket replacements.

Ok how bout start in limp mode… every sensor had 5 volts with key OUT except the crank sensor. It’s the only one that have zero volts with key off

@joseRodriguez-hc7uv you may want to look at the ECU. Or you have a connection problem somewhere.
