This whole era of Dio (doo wop, country, standards, and pop) before Rainbow is fascinating. I don't think any other artist has had such a unique musical career.
Look up Brian Johnson of AC/DC. I recently seen a video of a band he was in before AC/DC and was shocked.

Maybe Frank Stallone
Ronnie rocking a Gibson Eb Bass? Thats flipping awesome!
Take a look at when he was with "Elf". I had an album by Elf, saw Dio on the Last in Line Tour... I believe it was 1982-ish... was in the autograph Line after the show and handed him the Elf album to sign... 🤣
You should have seen his face (like he saw a ghost!) He laughed his ass off and signed "To Jeff, Thanks for the laugh!!! All the best, always.) Big memory for a young metal fan!

Also starting at 2:05 The sound of the bands future is captured
Hope you find these useful.
If Beatles didn’t break up, they would also transform into heavy metal band.
Helter Skelter almost hinted at that and some people cite it as being perhaps the 1st proto Heavy Metal song even !
True, they were nearly there. How about 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' from Abbey Road. One of my fave beatles tracks.
Hard to say… the ex-Beatles in their solo careers didn't go metal. If they stuck together, it wouldn't have been that different.
@@Kowasi yeah but Wings kinda bordered on metal, you could call a lot of it heavy rock.
Not!!!
That's crazy how much he changed over the years. This is a cool song and interesting video.
this, this is beautiful
I had the pleasure of meeting Ronnie and he was one of the nicest people I've ever met and an amazing singer. 🤘
"Hey, want to join my band?"
"Sure."
"Can you sing harmony?"
"Oh yeah."
"The lead singer is Ronnie James Dio."
"I quit."
Eh he probably was no were near his peak ability at this point
The good days
Compared to Dio? Lmao
The GAY old days, right grand pappy?
Ah yes, Jaw Tooth! It seems like they recommend the same stuff to every railfan I guess!
Yes. Before blm looking "singers" pissed and shitted everything around
Hippies can suck it, THANK GOD FOR DIO AND PUNK AND MOTORHEAD AND SPEED.
Even back then, tail prevailed
Happy 79th birthday Ronnie!!🤘
It's nice to see the origins )))
Dio playing with a SG Bass looks awesome
Cameraman later found fame with John Stagliano.
pausing at 2:01 I can just imagine Ronnie giving the devil horns :)
Consummate professional !!!!
Got to play with him for a few mins in the 80’s. Long story.
cool, thanks for posting this. I grew up in the 60's and 70's as a teen. I was just little late to the start of the game but this old stuff is always great to see because it's where it all came from.
Dio was like an actual living breathing dnd character rip and forget the rock and roll hall of.fame if it doesn't include him
I don't even acknowledge the legitimacy of the RNRHOF. Means nothing.
Back in the days when music is cool and Harmony 👍👍👍
Music is still cool and has harmony. Running down the music of others doesn't make others like your music nor make it any better. .
@@richsackett3423 No, but he is entitled to his opinion, too. A lot of people think the quality of popular music has deteriorated since the 60's/70's.

@@rlkissteller Hey Look Me Over
Thank you very much for sharing this amazing footage
The 60s were so fucking cool. I was a kid but I was so glad to be alive during everything that went on. It was an historic period in our history and the music and style was just so fucking cool.
Good song. Absolutely Love Dio. “Hey, Look Me Over” sorta has that Archies feel to it.
Never heard this song before I LIKE IT.
Dio: One of Portsmouth, NH's greatest sons.
I was two. Ronnie was older than all of the Beatles. Way older than my own mom. This is a rare treat!
...and then,he became a Legend,a true Icon of the world of music... unforgettable, that's what you are, dear Ronnie! 🌠✨🤟🏻🌹
Funny stuff. Flowerpower. Beatmusic. His development is astonishing.
They're even social distancing there
thats what I was gonna say lmfao!
Listen ... To what the Flower People Say
That was an Enormous Single. Tap toured the world & elsewhere...
It's not too late... it's not too late
The one song that confirms the existence of flower people and that we should listen to what they say... or something like that.
@@dougbennett8592 - They ask you to listen, but you don't hear, you're blind to their sound... like a drummer suddenly exploding, it's getting closer every day...
I saw a great Quadruple Bill in '67 at the Monterey Jamboree Jamm RockingAid Benefit for Pakistan ...
Ronnie Dio & the Predictors ( pre-prophets ) with The Peter Criss Puppet Show Project, Elvis Presley & Spinal Tap.
The Puppets got booed off stage. People were still booing the puppets when Tap was on. Tap was Incredible. During Flower People, they brought out Ronnie & Ozzy and did War Pigs... Then Mick Jagger joined them for a smoking rendition of GSM... Awesome Show !
This was good stuff
I have some recordings from those early days by the late Ronnie but I didn't remember this song and I didn't think there were some video either ! Thank you. A pity we don't see Ronnie very much. It seems weird indeed, how the music changed in a matter of a few years... Elf was boogie and something else, a bit hard rock too, but Rainbow was totally different music (and quite different from Deep Purple too, btw). Ronnie was great on ballads, too, as we can hear on Roger Glover's Butterfly Ball in 1974....
This was filmed shortly after the Civil War.
about 100 yrs after
what's so civil about war?
@@d.s7741 GNR reference, yep, I got it 🙂

The mighty Dio!!!!!!
Epic!
I love that this was uploaded! Thank you!
I had no idea Ronnie used to play this kind of music. Cool!

Ok guys lets try the one Ive been working on Rainbow in the dark these kids might dig it
Wow and I thought Elf was a deep dive, very cool, sounds like a Monkees tune!
i've been watching all the MONKEES episodes free on YT....and I was stunned at how the show is just as funny today and has aged so well, but also the RADICAL idea that every show is about SCAM ARTISTS in the music biz and other con artists in society! (Tha'ts pretty cynical!)
Funny you say that ,because I thought the one guitarist had a " Nesmith " vibe goin' on.
@@MSicko I thought that too, kind of looked like Richie Blackmore with the hat too......spooky!
This is beautiful.
