Will It Start Diesel? Cummins V8 Diesel Ford Truck
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 апр 2024
- In this episode we attempt to to start up the Cummins Diesel V8 903 in the Ford semi truck. It has sat for only a bit over 12 months but still requires some checking over and some batteries. We top up the water and check the oil after fitting some batteries and then we try to start it. It eventually goes but stops again. I then discovered that even though it had fuel in the tank, it was facing downward so the fuel was away from the pickup. I put in some diesel fuel and bleed the fuel system then attempt to start it again. It eventually went again and this time stayed runner. While it was running I use it to move a semi trailer out of the way. We connected up the trailer and moved it to another location and disconnect it and park the truck. Meanwhile our White 4000 Detroit Diesel powered truck is moving the rest of the semi trailers. Come along and see how we go with it all. #tractor #diesel #cummins #truck #semitruck #detroitdiesel #dieselengine #ford #fordtrucks #louisville #abandoned #rust #restoration #truckmechanic #v8 #cumminsdiesel #transport

That 903 still sounds great. Thanks for sharing
My pleasure Stephen
These days i hit like before ive even watched the vid. Coz Steves place is always great 👌
Hi mate great stuff thank you.
I hit the like button while letting the ads run.👍🏻
Every bit helps the mint channel.
With all those trucks and trailers you could start your own trucking company!
Hi mate yes I possibly could, not sure how many drivers I would get though
Lovely sound comparison between the 903 and the 671.
Hi Neil yes it certainly is
Detroits do sound good, however I do have a soft spot for the old 903
Hi mate yeah that’s right. They are fairly unique now
Thanks Steve, great video. I like the idea of someone else filming instead of the camera being stationary. Cheers 👍🏻🇦🇺
Thank you David. Yes I do too, it’s just hard to have someone all the time to help with it
@@stevesplacedownunder ill volunteer Steve...i work for cold beer...
Hello steves place first time wacthing your utube channal WOW you and dad still have old School ford & a white tractor still in runnning shape and driveable thanks for keeping old School trucks history alive👍👍👍
Hi Donald thank you for watching mate and glad you liked it. There’s plenty more to come. Go back through the episodes to see plenty more of them running and driving mate
Sounded mint once she fired! Best of luck finding a good cab for her, apart from the few restored ones I've seen every other LNT around my area is just as rotten in the bottom of the cab and doors.
Yes mate she sounds great. There are a few around but haven’t yet jumped on one. It’s either the wrong price or too far away. One that was in reach had a walkthrough for a bunk and I didn’t want that
Bloody love the old lousyvilles
Hi Ron. Yes mate I do too
I always liked them old fords, she ll look good with a bath and maybe some dual smokers...
Hi Robert. Yes mate she needs some love but it is worth saving.
As a USA born citizen it’s so cool to see the right hand drive semis I never see in the USA, let alone Australia has all the old relics we wish we had up here
Hi mate thanks for watching. Yes we are a bit different down here in that way with our own models and right hand drive, but I feel the same about the gear that you have over there. Amazing to me some of the models that we didn’t get
Sounds great
Great truck Steve, love that engine. Handsome devil too.
Yes mate it’s a shame that it’s rusted out though. Great truck apart from the cab
Goddag
Howdy from the Northwoods of Minnesota .
Hi mate from Sydney
Wasn't too hard to wake the old 903 up ! Sounds a bit like a v-8 Mack . Videos getting better and better mate , You two are a good team 🌵
Hi Scott. No mate it wasn’t and it would have been a lot better if it had the amount of fuel I thought it did in it. Thanks as always mate
Another great video Steve..
Ford Louisville’s are one of my favourite old trucks.. Davo..
Hi Davo, yes mate I like them too. Great to look at and drive
Thanks Steve love a 903 start up very popular engine in their day,i think the 3070 inter was the better truck I remember 1978 living In Clare the international dealer was getting a 3070 eagle ready for a customer very flash carpet on the hood lining ,it was top of the line back then, best of times I reckon, hope you get a better cab somewhere they would be scarce I reckon.
Cheers Kym
Adelaide
Hi Kym. I’d rather a 3070 too. I had a base model one and it was great to drive. Just kept getting water in it and couldn’t afford or be buggered to pull it down again for another liner. The Eagles are very nice. One still getting to shows around Sydney here. I will eventually find one mate but certainly no hurry.
Ready for a trip down the Hume Steve
Hi Tracy, not just yet but hopefully one day😅😅
A 903 is music, especially under load. Wouldn't want to go back to one full time but loved them back in the day.
Thanks for watching Jimmy. They sound great indeed
Had one brand new 1980 LNT 9000 HD Great truck
Thanks for watching Dennis. She would of certainly been a great truck mate
Love the deep rumble of that old Ford Loue Steve. Better give the new camera lass a pay rise cobber. She did a stirling job mate. Thanks Steve.🤠
Thanks Daryl. Yes she does a great job. It was filmed on a phone this episode but still turned out good. I think the episodes are better with a cameraman mate
Shes a good sounding truck, would be good to have a in cab shot too
Hi mate. It was that full of cobwebs and rubbish that I didn’t know if it was a good idea. I have another one the same that is registered and have a lot of in cab footage of it if you go back through the episodes not too far
Most skilful diesel pour from a can I’ve ever seen not to mention the know how and true mechanical n electrical wizardry mixed with bush mechanic all a compliment by the way I’m impressed! Great stuff Steve
Hi Ben. Thanks for the great comment. Very positive mate. Great stuff
Love it. Live in Sydney and my first to my collection is a very good condition unrestored International C1600.
Hi mate thanks for watching. That c1600 would be a good one for your collection
Great video. Nice to see the old Ford at work. Have a good week. Marc.
Thanks Marc. It was good to see it going. All the best mate
Putting the land to agricultural use: looking forward to seeing that as well.
Hi Paul. Yes mate but not in a big way. Some of it should make the channel
Cool looking Cummins V8 Diesel Ford Truck, some tlc and paint job she will be ready for the road..
Hi Billy. Yes mate it is. If it wasn’t for the rust I would do exactly that
Oh cool bud grate truck
Thanks Alex
Thanks mate gotta sort of soft spot for the 903 . mate had 1 in a MAN carting logs
Hi Brett. That’s good mate. A lot of people have a soft spot for them. The old MAN must of had a transplant
Sounds good mate
Thank you mate
I Carey a few piece of vilcrow in my pocket when i have trouble pouring...water.. in...a hole👍👍👍✌️✌️👌👌
I’m hearing you Josh 🤣🤣🤣. Great advice thanks mate
Great old engines. Hard work constantly changing gears all night. Was fun though when your young.
They nice to change gears in too
That Cummins sounds so much better than a screaming DD, defo one to fix up and get on the road Steve.
Hi Andy. If I can get a cab it will be on the road. I already have one the same registered. It has a water tank on it
Great stuff mate
Thank you Marty
Happy days chief
Wow that's awesome brother from another country great startup brother say hi to the Mrs for me !!! Awesome adventure as always brother and sister enjoy the rumble as always
Hi Robert thanks as always mate. I most certainly will. Have a good weekend mate
Steve, she looks a bit dirty around the face. Before the weather gets too much cooler, better get the missus to put her swimming togs on and give Lou a wash. ☺😆😁
Film it of course!
If she puts those on I’m hoping the last thing that happens is the truck gets washed
Built ford tough they were🙂
Certainly were mate
@@stevesplacedownunder ♥️
Gday Steve, them Fords made a lot of people a lot of money over the years, it’s a shame the rust gets them so bad, the 903 sounds healthy to, top job mate, cheers
Hi Matty. Sorry for the late reply. They did mate yes. Even in my time I remember a lot of them on the road. My dad drove a lot of them when I was a toddler and used to go all the time in them with him. The rust is a terrible shame because the rest is great. Thanks mate
Cheers for filming your shenanigans, mate.🍻
The movement seems to be going well.
What crops were you thinking of planting?. I wonder if acreage and sunlight might be an issue?.
Guess we might see SPDU logging ops with the old CMP episodes.😜
Keep the skinny pedal down.👍🏻
Thanks mate. I think oats or Rhodes grass. I’m not doing it, my contractor mate is. It’s not a big area at all but if it’s share farmed among other blocks it will be fine. I’m not getting anything out of it, just saving in the long term. Sunlight is fine, it has it most of the day in the other paddock
One of my neighbours had a LNT9000 just like this one (even had a 903 but it had a 9 speed) - they decided to sell it and her son had to get it running to be able to sell it… half a dozen batteries, 20 litres of diesel and half a can of Aerostart later and she ran like a Swiss clock
Hi Joe. Good yarn mate. I wonder where she went to?
Nice, great sounding engine. There’s a lnt9000 76 model near here for sale. I’d jump on it but it’s the factory 477 big block on gas. But probably sucks the same amount of fuel as the 903 ha ha. Thanks for sharing mate
Hi mate. Yes it would go well but certainly would use a lot of fuel. Good for a collection but not for using
@@stevesplacedownunder yeah for $20k I’d want to use it. It has a horse box on the back, want to make one into a camper and travel on the weekends. With diesel cost I recon it would almost equal our in cost running it over a 903 or v8 merc. There’s a 1422 here close also but I love the ford.
Yes red mack start up and what's the plan for the red international c1800 truck ?
Hi mate. The red one is a D1810. I will eventually do a start up of that one. It’s on the list to go to the shed and get roadworthy when or if I get the time. It’s a good one for the collection
Must living the the other Australia
Hey Steve ! Ya know I love yer vids mate but one thing. You need a better camera. The one you use is glitchy and jerks around a bit. Kinda makes me sea sick. Anyway Cheers Man and thanks for the work ya put in to entertain us freeloader subscribers. 🍻👊😎👍🍻
Hi Paul. It was the first episode we have tried using an iPhone, just for a trial and was recommended by a few people I spoke with. Every other episode that you have seen was with a Sony camera. That’s why I did a start of a truck that I have already done before. I’ve had a few other complaints also. It’s all feedback mate which helps. It was fine this end when we watched it. Thanks man
@@stevesplacedownunder Exactly Steve just thought you'd like to know. I'll tip a cold one to ya mate. 😎
@Awsom47Merc yeah Paul I do like to know mate. Especially when it’s said in a positive way. Yes mate have a cold one. I will tomorrow night
Old beast
It must have needed another hood at some time. That's a hood for a 692 GM and looks like they made it fit by putting the scoop on the right hand side
Hi Dave yes it may well have, not overly sure. But the scoop is on the opposite side to my other 903 Louisville
@@stevesplacedownunder GM on the left. Cummins on the right
@davep9199 yeah okay mate. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that. Thanks for sharing
The 9000's going great Steve! The v8's nice and smooth. I didn't notice before that yours has the driver's side air intake scoop. Never saw one like that here in Canada. Must be to get it to the 200 mph spec...8^) Anyway great video, I enjoyed it. BTW that rpm increase going uphill sounds like a linkage issue maybe. How are the cab mounts? if there's excess movement there maybe the cab's leaning backward and pulling on the fuel lack linkage. Just a thought. A lot of drivers here in the 1980's on the 9000's complained that the cab mount rubber inserts were too soft in summer and rock hard in winter. I seem to remember that there was a service bulletin from Ford about it but I don't remember the details all these years later.
Hi Jeff. Yes mate I was told that was a Detroit diesel bonnet and the scoop on the other side like my other one is for the Cummins. It must of had a bonnet swap at some stage. Yes it could be the cab moving, but at the same time I’ve had the Cummins do it before, both 6 and 8 cylinders, rev themselves up when running out of fuel. I only put a small amount in it so with it moving around it may have sucked in some air.
That’s interesting about the cab mounts in the summer and won’t Jeff. Thanks as always
@@stevesplacedownunder 👍
It's sad the truck is in that condition
Yes it sure is
I almost brought one of these a 76 model tho with a 10 speed but it had a lazy axle in it and that really put me off still had a bid on it tho but 2 other guys wanted it more then me ended up getting the old c1600 butterbox they had instead
Hi Michael. Yes the lazy would have turned me off too. They great on the road, but loose traction real quick when off the road. You ended up with a good truck regardless. Well done mate
Very nice.would a ltl 9000 cab work?
Thank you mate. I’d say it would with some work. The engine comes into the cab a bit on these ones
Steve the video is nice, but if you said anything I could not hear it!!. Thats not entirely true. I took the time to enhance your volume. I would send you a wireless microphone if I had your details (camera, mailing address. If im the only one ill continue to "fix" myself. Thanks Steve
Hi mate thanks for the feedback. This was actually filmed off an iPhone and I do have a wireless microphone for my Sony camera but I didn’t have a cord to suit the phone, we now do. It’s our first episode using a phone camera. Thanks again for the offer
@@stevesplacedownunder no sound issues for me
I have 8000 parts truck
interesting movie. But you still haven't replied to my email, when will you have the hats and will you send them to Poland?
Hi mate I haven’t seen an email and I have replied to a few comments but haven’t heard anything back from you. Yes I would send a hat there no problem
Do you have any American trucks
Yes mate. Kenworth, transtar and Mack. And the White in this video. Check out my other episodes
Hey up mate what are youse thinking ov planting there
Hi John. I’m not sure exactly yet mate. My mate is doing it, it’s what he does as a job so whatever he recommends. I think he mentioned oats or Rhodes grass. It’s not a big area and won’t get much off it but I believe it’s worth doing for other reasons.
@@stevesplacedownunder nice one mate should be good for wildlife and it's always sweet to get a bit of harvest, by the way your thoughts were correct those payloaders do have duels on the front I watched a video about them yesterday
Why is the video skipping I don't understand I'm watching it on my TV IT keeps skipping
Hi mate I’m not sure. We watched it here and it wasn’t doing it
It's doing the same to me and I'm watching on my phone.
Same on my end too
Hi Steve, my first job back in 87 had a Louisville with a 903 in it . Ten years later I drove a rigid Cargo with a 3208 , it made a lot of noise but not much horsepower 😂 I’m a Holden guy lol
Hi Andrew thanks for sharing. I will give the v8 cats in those cargoes one thing mate, they are brilliant to change gears in. We had one at work for a bit
