    Looks like a 256 ci engine. Should be the same as a 6/68-75 5000 or a 5100 or 5600.
Dipstick is under the starter, these fords always have the dipstick mounted to the flange where the oil pan bolts up. It’s a short little thing.
Man, that is one helluva nice machine! Some new glass and an AC kit if your buddy wants and she’s ready to go to work!

Some msnufacturers use straight minus wire from battery to starter ground to ensure strong enough current. Positive wire goes to a solenoid, so that wiring is almost normal.

The dip oil dip stick is on the left side of the engine, down low. That is where it is on my 550 tlb. She is knocking quite loud. Could be low on oil or rod knock. One of the wires on key switch goes to the manifold heater. My 550 has to be in neutral on the 4 speed box to start

When digging, the hoe should be up off the ground, a friend of mine was digging with a backhoe once and he didn’t lift the backhoe high enough and bent the axle rods in the rear axle because the back tires were still touching the ground while he was digging being really ruff with the equipment. But that’s because he wasn’t trained for that peace of equipment.

I've been following this series and have no idea what scrap value might be. Can you give us any idea of how you determine a value? Do you basically just pay whatever scrap value might be? You estimated the backhoe at about 20k pounds. If scrap is at $100 a ton that would be about ten tons. So would you pay $1000 for the machine? Just very curious.

The best thing is when the man gets old where he can't do anything with what he has it's better if he sells it to someone who can use it.. otherwise it could all end up in a scrap yard

In the older construction and farm machinery side of things many machines have common brand specific type ignition/ door key with only 2 different versions available. The problem comes when guys swap switches to another generic auto parts store switch or you just buy the wrong key maybe for a newer type ford machine like Tyler possibly did. One youtuber I watch changes all his equipment to CAT style ignition switches so 1 key type type fits all his equipment. I also have a massive bunch of keys here that I used to take to auctions with me to start all types of different equipment brands. The newer stuff has more security features to stop it getting stolen so it's not that easy with some of it now.

Everyone seems to think new and make payments. People who own them get old and really could care less about this equipment so just scrap it and no one else can use it... Even worse, Many people won't walk across the street to help a neighbor if his/their farm was on fire. No one trusts the other person because of something said or done at some time. You might just start making notes in your phone since that is the new pencil and paper. I know your busy, yet wonder why you have troubles remembering a week of things done or accomplished... is that your M.O. at home? I'm seventy four now and yes, I too do have troubles remembering where something is at but as young as you are causes me to worry about how much stress your under.
