    For those offended by me saying that you can only win a fence if you’re a professional trim carpenter, please understand this - I’m not insulting homeowners and DIY, of course you could still use this fence and find great value in it. But the inventor of the fence wanted to make sure it got to somebody who would use it everyday. A production trim carpenter will be super blessed by this! Hope that clears up any misunderstanding 😃

      I wasn’t offended. Giving to a person that will get the most out of it makes sense to me. Do I want to win it? Heck yes! But knowing it will go to someone that needs it is more important. It’s not the wants that matter, it’s the needs.

    #1) I'm not commenting to win the fence. #2) I love your channel and have followed you for a long while (since way before you were famous, lol). I am old enough to be your mom and you remind me greatly of my youngest son (Colin) who went to heaven in 2022. He was really funny (like you); really talented (like you) in a different field. (Actually, you look alike. We used to tell him about the RUclipsr who resembled him.) He was a restoration specialist out of Boston for historical finishes. Brent would have loved him (they may have known each other? Not sure).
    #3) Anyway, I also do restoration, but of furniture and architectural components (such as doors). I love wood craft, but I'm limited. What I WANTED to tell you is, when you're explaining a process I begin to hear all the words and then it turns into "Sapitae owper uewao a ealg;ag".... LOL. But, I am totally fascinated with your knowledge, skill and basic talent. Thank you SO much for always making me laugh. So tonight or sometime soon, have one on Colin and toast him in heaven. 🥰

    • @ibarskiy
      @ibarskiy 8 месяцев назад +5

      It’s a bit different but I think I prefer that (not that you asked me). One important thing you don’t lose with FastCap is the pivot point because for DeWalt at least it goes on top of the short factory fences vs sitting in front. The saws are designed with that pivot point as the reference when you turn them, so you lose that by putting this fence on the front of the factory fence. This definitely has more functionality though.

    Sweet design. We cut massive crown regularly, and the sliding fence stop would be a game changer. We've always used a more traditional handmade plywood stop, but sometimes the crown is so big that the stop gets slid out over the miter button on our D780, making it next to impossible to access. This looks like the ticket.

    Drilling into the saw has voided any warranty on any Festool you own…. You will also be banned from buying any further Festool. In addition, the act of drilling the saw, now just extended all Festool patents for another 100 years….. way to go!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  • @dannym670
    @dannym670 7 месяцев назад

    No doubt the kapex is a quality saw, but the truth is its just too small, depth and width of cut is very limited due to its blade size, if they did a 12" version then I'd buy one.
    As for the fence i don't think I'd get any benefit from it to be honest, im 25 years down the line 2nd fix carpentry and a regular 12" DeWalt sliding mitre saw does everything i need it to.
    Nice bit of kit if you have a use for it i suppose 👍

    So you spend 12-1600 on a Festool saw only to find out you have issues like you do with saws that cost 1/2 that! I love their products, but you do not have to spend that kind of money to get quality. Is the FT worth the extra? Not to me and I have been doing finished carpentry for over 40 years.

    Ya know I used to watch every video you produced, even started at the beginning a few years ago, but only watch every now and then. I loved watching a guy produce beautiful work using tools that the average guy could afford and learn from you. Obviously you are doing well with your channel, good for you I don't begrudge anyone from becoming a success and making a good living however, you lost something along the way I think it started when you hooked up with a coupe of other guys and started to produce a blog or whatever you called it; it was from then on I felt you left the audience that made you successful. I'm not saying I'm going to drop your channel I'm just not that excited to watch you work - I'm not happy about that but I've seen it happen to others also.
