Dang they both definitely have their strong suits but I’ve gotta say the color graded DJI footage just looks so dang good. Those mineral basin shots are next level. I could watch that over and over again. Also the audio ques and tones for the recording and stopping need to be the standard for all action cameras. Definitely way easier to keep up with what your camera is doing
I have a GoPro 9, Insta360 X3, and the DJI Action 4. I haven't used the GoPro 12, but the previous versions were so glitchy in cold weather (even with the Enduro Battery) and would randomly freeze, take 20 seconds to turn on, etc. Then I went to the Insta360 X3, which is cool it captures everything around you but the overall image quality isn't nearly as sharp as the GoPro or DJI, and it takes me hours of extra work editing in the app, transferring to my computer to then edit it into a full video, and I absolutely hate the workflow. Now the DJI Action 4, image quality is fantastic, low light is pretty good, I'm glad it has 10bit color and dLog, and the bootup time on the mountain is so fricken fast. I just wish it had a "selfie stick removal" feature that automatically removed the stick while riding similar to the Insta360 and then it would be even better. Right now I say the Insta360 X3 for selfie-style videos, and the DJI for any other action videos.
Thanks! It’s not one dedicated person but I’m super grateful to have such good friends like Austin, Alex & Bryan who are down to hold the camera when I’m not!
This was a pretty great review/comparison! I love how easy it is to switch the DJI with its magnetic holders, versus how much of a pain it is with GoPro. How'd you jerry rig the pole to carry both cameras simultaneously?
Great video. I am trying to decide between GoPro 12 and Osmo 4. I am a skier. Are the mounts interchangeable on both? GoPro seems to have more mount selection.
Returned my OA4, without a fair bit of post processing the compression algorithm on the OA3/4 results in almost all loss of definition in the snow, looks like a solid white mass compared to GoPro. Same seems to office for road surface texture and grass. Quite obviously one viewed on a monitor in full resolution. Ashame as I’m sure the detail is captured by the OAs but just lost in processing. For me this was not acceptable. Now back with GoPro (choose 11 over 12 for the GPS overlays)
In cases of super low light overcast days while snowboarding (like powder dumps), do you ever recommend using in a gimbal (if so which one)? Not too familiar with cameras but I know that the in camera stabilization/image can take a good hit in low light scenarios.
GoPro12 , which I own, appears to have more color saturation, especially the greens in the trees popped, as where the DJI looked a bit duller. Not sure if that's a post choice or not tho
Insta 360 is the King, for 99.9% of the Snowsports Enthusiasts who aren't pro youtubers or athletes who have a team for video editing their footage. Let GoPro Improve their free editing software first, cause the Insta 360 mobile app and their desktop suite is far superior. I am pretty sure the DJI software is also excellent as their drone software is quick and easy.
I wouldn't say only 0.1% can use GoPro or DJI. They have their market, but the workflow for editing any 360 footage is a headache compared to these 2 cameras. And the image quality is a big sacrifice for being able to remove a pole.
@@BoredProgression Like I said, majority of the people don't want to edit beyond transferring some clips to the phone and sharing. DJI or Insta have a better platform for it both on the phone app and desktop app whereas GoPro needs to seriously update their Apps to make it easier
No way, the battery life in the cold and the fact that you can mount it vertical are game changers for me. You can also film in d-log which makes post editing so much better. Go Pro app is awesome though@@BoredProgression

Definitely dude. It’s so simple but makes a big difference.
@@BoredProgression definitely! I’ve lost so much footage over the years from situations like that whether it be the on/off or changing modes.

Good points. Yeah the Osmo A4 has a selfie stick remover but it’s not easy to use or the best image output.
Big props to your cameraman in all of your videos! Great shots and angles! That what makes your videos next level! 🎉

Looking forward to your beaver mtn review!
You and me both!

Thanks bro! Yeah the magnet clamp is money. For the 2 cameras, there’s third party dual mounts. Bought one off Amazon.

They are pretty much the same. Osmo has the quick release magnets though. It attaches to a mount similar to gopro’s

Are you exposing correctly? I'm not seeing loss of definition in the snow, even in this video.
this sounds like a user error problem ngl
Awesome!!! Love it. Thx man.
Thanks brotha!
what pant/bib is that orange/green/black? looks sick
Austin's is a Volcolm Guide jacket & Owner Operator pants. I'm wearing 32 TM3 jacket & 32 Basement bibs.

I never use a gimbal with the osmo or hero cameras. Low light is cropped the same as a sunny day. No difference there.

Are you filming in log color, color grading afterwards? I could crank up the saturation more but that’s personal preference.
Bored. how’s everythin going?, enjoyed!that is superb dji! goodbye! :)
Yeeewww! So good, dude! Thanks! 🤘
GoPro. The color is unmatched.
It does have great color!

DJI Action 4. Sold my GoPro so fast. Not even close in comparision.
Don't miss 5.3K?
