    Not sure why you think Cobabe canyon will only be private. Here is a quote from Hastings" We're not putting any fences up." There'll just be one or two places where we'll put signs up, like 'you're going to b trapped here." Found that article in the salt lake tribune.
    From the top of sunrise most of cobabe canyon can be accesed. Its a short walk to the top of Mary's from there which makes all of Cobabe canyon accessible. Even Raintree is not too far away. I hiked to the top of raintree with skins three times in a day this year and could have done more.
    Hopefully all that i just said stays true.

      Why would you pay >$200 per day to hike lol? There’s far better places to split board and for free.

      That’s very encouraging to hear. If I can still drop into Cobabe Canyon from Sunrise then we are only really losing Village (no biggie), Mary’s and Raintree.

      I hope you’re right but I wonder if Sunrise will remain public as well.

    If theyre struggling financially, they gotta do what they gotta do. Its probably best if they rebrand the private side and move forward with the public side hopefully trying to keep that same expansiveness with a sense of intimacy and doing it at a reasonable price point.

      If it was truly about to go bankrupt, this is better than it going ikon or epic. That would’ve been the real 💀.

    They can make Mary's and the village private and I'd still go. Rain tree was typically inaccessible anyways so they can take that private too and I'd still go. But, they won't be on the Indy pass and their day pass prices are 50%+ more than snowbasin. I'll get the midweek pass to snowbasin for $500 next year instead.

      Yeah this season was the last one for Indy pass.

      Just buy a season pass to PowMow - 6 days of riding and it pays for itself.

    I've been to Powder Mountain a few times - even in the busiest part of the year it was never crowded. I don't really understand the reasoning to make part of the resort private. I doubt locals ever had trouble finding good snow or ever fought with lift lines, all I see this doing is cramming the public riders into a smaller area which can't be good. I guess its the tradeoff for removing daily ticket limits - but that's only a benefit to the resort not the riders. Nervous about these changes. POW MOW used to guarantee a great day on the slopes.

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression  4 месяца назад +1

      They actually haven’t removed the daily ticket limit. Just the season pass one. They said the number of day passes sold will vary though, depending on high demand days I guess.

    Been going there all my adult life, and it’s my fav of all the majors so far as pure snowboarding goes.
    People have to understand that PowMow was never going to make it as a destination ski resort, reason being that there is just nowhere to put a village. As such I have always feared Powder Mountain would become something akin to the Yellowstone Club in Montana, if Powder Mountain has to be profitable in order to operate. I am at least encouraged by the terrain expansion, but losing Cobabe Canyon is huge. Powder Mountain always has powder because of how wide it is. Losing an entire flank of the mountain is kind of a gut-punch. Man I have had some great moments dropping into that canyon and it sucks to see it go private.

      I don’t think they will privatize the Sunrise pom tow. As long as that is open you can drop into Cobabe off Sanctuary and there are some great runs over there. As far as the other side of Cobabe, I did a test run at the end of the season sending down right side of sunrise lift and back up the hill on Mary’s side. Only needed a short hike to get to the top and then everything out to Par 4 is easily accessible. In fact I found it was a faster way to get over there than taking Hidden -> Village -> Mary’s
