I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
I have one of these saws and would like to offer additional information. First, the usable bar length is 10 1/2 inches. However, you can cut a log that is almost 21 inches in diameter (twice the usable bar length). I only use a 16 inch bar on my old gas saw and I once cut a downed tree trunk that was over 20 inches in diameter by cutting half at a time.
Bud, that's the best chainsaw video ever. Been watching a lot of them as I shop for one. I ordered the Dewalt. I hope Tim Allen sees this video. I think he would want to work with you. Nice job!!
A); 2); and D) in the first minute of this video had me hooked! Anyone who can pull off a 30-year-old "Home Alone" quote and not get called out by 10 or more viewers gets my attention! Bravo! Loved the delivery, and useful content!
I had no idea that I needed to watch this video until I watched this video. By far the most entertaining review of what I just purchased without reading reviews before buying as well. You my friend are a true frugal father. Oh, and I've done the snif, look, wipe finger on grass maneuver as well. 👍
Talking into the camera just wastes time. It's a product review and to me, it seems more natural to do a voicever because it allows you to make a shorter, better paced video.
i agree and on top of that a stand alone microphone just sounds so much better in a static environment compared to a lapel mic with a shit load of backround noise outside. either way your production is better than most
Looks like it might be just about right for dealing with this kind of situation. Something that can sit in the shed for a couple years between crap falling down without the entire engine turning into a ball of gunk, and still be able to get it done faster than the silky saw or sawzall I'd be using otherwise.
You're a true bro. My wife looked at me like I was an idiot for pouring boiling vinegar water on my foot. But after having her watch a few of your reviews she looks at me like a hero. Thank again and keep the reviews coming because I do tons of stupid shit.
There's definitely a place for a tool like this. I love my Husqvarna 455 Rancher, but for the average homeowner it would be overkill and it comes in at over double the price, comes with the cost of gas, oil, *and* maintenance. Looks like a smart purchase for someone who doesn't have to deal with a lot of wooded areas on their property. Thanks for the video.
That rancher is nice. I think the Husqvarna I used was their smallest 16 incher. It wasn't powerful, and kickbacks were rare. This seems almost on par with how I remember that one.
I liked mine but the controller shit the bed in less than a year of infrequent use and zero abuse. The controller was bad, the switches and motor were fine. (I'm a retired aircraft mechanic and avionics tech so the autopsy was easy.) I like my 60V too but I won't buy another 20V Dewalt chain saw. My other DeWalt tools both cordless and corded have served well over many years, but this one wasn't great. The chain oiler crapped out but I just dipped the bar end in a pot of drain oil so no problem. I think I'll try a Makita next.
It really does make more sense for the average homeowner than messing with all the maintenance of a gas chainsaw. Cute kid. I miss my niece being that age and “helping” me. Good video.
Found this video from google but man I love your style. I'm not huge into knives, but this is a great video and I hope your channel continues to do well! Keep it up!
Good review. I have owned my house for 23 years. Need a chainsaw once. Got an electric one. It cut the limb up that fell and the chain got dull just as I finished. Haven’t need one since. 👍👍👍
Hey, Great Review !!! I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have experienced the "dark side" with big 2 stroke chain saws and wanted to see if the DeWalt 12" 20v chainsaw was a viable alternative as I have a fill collection of cordless power tools (older 18v XPR & 20v XR) and didn't want to have to invest in a new brand and/ or style of battery to just take care of the "around the house" tree, brush, limb needs. Your video answered the question. So I also subscribed too as I am a Motorcyclist, knife, (and gun) fan also. I'll probably head out to Home Depot tomorrow. Oh very entertaining video, I look forward to more.
My first ever RUclips comment. I have watched many videos and also many Dewalt review videos and never felt the need to comment. This is by far the best one yet. It is informative, entertaining, funny and well put together. Well done sir.. Well done!
I just bought this saw today. It's new, but came without an owners manual. I was looking for instructions. I'm glad I found your video instead. That was funny. Now, however, I still have to go find real instructions.
i have a bunch of gas saws. i bought this one for camping on state land and for trail clearing. nice and quiet. and i can keep it in my truck without gas and oil leaking on the carpet. electric saws defiantly have there place. nice video , especially if someone was on the fence about buying this , they are very capable fro small med size trees. and low maintenance. cheers.
2 things,, this will be my next dewalt purchase, i have the 20v midrange impact wrench coming soon from amazon, have you had any issues with the oil cap,, i've read a few complaints from others saying the cap is difficult to remove the first time and some have broken ,, cool video
Dude, Funny as hell!!! Puns of fun lol :) I watch this entire chainsaw video and forgot what I was originally searching for. .... And that is one lucky 2-year-old to have such a cool and understanding Dad to hang out with!!! A+
Not bad for the price and what your needs werethat said the 60 volt flex volt is completely different and is kinda impressive as is the weedeater . Remember I NEVER thought I'd own any of this battery operated tools and have been a gas guy but I now see the need for it and these things really do work !!
Just bought this saw and I'm watching more vids on it. Found your amusing. Nice vid. BTW, 2 stroke gas won't hurt your mower if you put in a bit at a time. It will smoke a bit and maybe lube the valves, but it won't hurt the engine if you put a smidge in there. I use mine in an old ATV all the time.
I know this video is a little old, but very entertaining commentary Lol; was looking for a review on this chainsaw and yours was on top based on my search. Based on what you demonstrated, I fall in a similar usage range where I only will need it sparsely throughout the year with the rest of the time sitting on shelf in shop next to my Dewalt cordless trimmer Lol. I love the idea of no fumes or gas mixing either and merely just adding bar oil in between uses. Like you I have only Dewalt brand cordless tools so I can use same battery in everything.
I mean... I wouldn't trust this as a tree feller or something heavy duty- but for the average renter- this shit is exactly what I needed. All of the trees in the yard are way too big for most chainsaws anyway.
I have a battery powered chainsaw, blower, and weedeater, I am impressed with the power and battery duration. not quite as powerful as gas models but they have benefits, no mixing or storing 2 cycle fuel, no smoke and fumes to breath and less noise and they get the job done. Just bought the Dewalt 60 volt 16" bar model.
First time viewer of Advanced Knife Bro... I'll be back. Your commentary had me in stitches! (not to be confused with electric chainsaw stitches!) (yet...) :)
I like DeWalt. People may talk shit about a battery powered chainsaw but you really don't need a gas powered chainsaw for small residential use. I work in commercial landscaping and our Gas powered Stihl is a beast.
I'd love a Stihl, but didn't have a ton of extra money- and from what I read about the Dewalt it performed like a smaller displacement gas saw. I wasn't disappointed at all... and it really didn't struggle against anything I threw at it.
I just purchased a dewalt saw like yours (but 5 amp battery) for two reasons: 1. I have other dewalt tools which use the same battery, and 2. (the real reason) Perhaps using it will improve my sense of humor as it also has yours. Thanks, and do include that beautiful, scene-stealing star of your family in all future vids.
Thanks man! I was really impressed by the cutting power of this one. As long as you have some extra battery power this thing excels at smaller trees or large branches.
This unit looks like a winner for an Average Home DIY'er like myself. This is the second video that gives good praise for this tool, so I guess that's saying something. I do have to agree: the larger the Amp-Hour rating on the battery used, the longer it'll run (which is a "natch!" for ANY battery-operated device). At this time I don't see a need for a chainsaw, but having other DeWalt 20V Max tools (that I simply LOVE!), this unit should be a good addition to the "collection" when I decide to get one. As of this post, the lowest price for the "bare" tool is $123.60 from eBay (dunno if it's used or new), a high price of $189 from Amazon (surprising?), $179 from my local Home Depot, and $149-$154 from other web retailers (sans S/H or sales tax: thank you, Google!).
Edutainment in the form of dry informative humor. I will purchase the saw. Thank you. Nailed winterizing. Found it curious you live in the suburbs of London.
No flipper tab and the jimping kinda aggressive, especially when u turn it on. Our advanced host & brother in knives must live in upmarket area. Even the travelling, cold calling gypsy scrappers/drive way pavers/tree surgeons/thieving bastards/etc have Victorian Anglo-American accents apparently. Not cockney, let alone Irish -- gypsies that sound somewhere between Michael Caine & Cary Grant. Classy place
Great video with awesome real use mixed with humor. Just had a storm come through our area and have a bunch of trees down in the backyard. Wasn't sure if i'd go for this one but your video pushed me over the top to get one.
Im in the process of selling mine in the UK,and just keeping my flexvolt version. It simply doesnt spin the chain fast enough to use.The chain just bounces off most branches unless they are really solid and immobile. The flexvolt will cut anything.Oh,and chain needs to be RAZOR sharp just to give you a chance.Useless on standard 5ah batts.Spins a bit quicker on 6 or 9ah.
It is quite amazing how much you got done with that little battery pack. I would so buy this if I didn't live in an apartment in the middle of the city.
just discovered today your informative and humorous video...learned and smiled....a good combination for me for life....thank you ..enjoy the rides and the beer...
@@AdvancedKnifeBro kids love to "help" when they're little but when she is old enough to really be help, good luck finding her. At least that was my experience. Gotta luv 'em.
Excellent video. I don't like to wear gloves when I use my chainsaws. And I noticed that at times you didn't wrap your thumb around the chainsaw's front handle. Just my suggestions. I plan to get a battery-powered chainsaw when my plug-in saw gives up on me. Not a chance that I would by a gas chainsaw again.
Whatever size a chainsaw's bar is, it can cut twice that size. 12 inch bar? Can cut a 24 inch log. I have a Stihl 009, 009L, 029, a Homelite Super 2, and a Jonsered 920 with a 3 foot bar. Edit: btw, the DeWALT is 90 cuts in pressure treated 4x4 with a 5Ah battery.
Advanced Knife Bro what'd be REALLY fun is to whittle one chunk down into a detailed replica of a hamburger, then strategically planting said woodburger in future videos. Where's Waldo? Screw that; where's woodburger!!!!
36,676 views and 10 months later. You definitely beat your 5k over 3 years. This video just sold me on the saw. Does your daughter come with the saw as a addon to help with the pickup labor in my moms yard. If so she will buy one as well if she gets a helper with the sale.
I have orders I do things in... I have a machete (new but needs serious sharpening) that I need to review- but can't review it without getting some unused shots. I have Kukris, but I have been meaning to do my Estwing video for quite some time... I actually shot some stuff with it that didn't make it- mostly of chopping. I was trying to get footage for two videos in one sitting. But you are correct, it makes no sense and machetes are made for that.
swedish forestry axe - super good on anything green and within 4" diameter - whack done - or whack whack done - worst case whack whack flip whack done maybe stomp
“Because that’s parenting”. Yep, right on the money with that observation. The pisser will be if the next wind storm knocks your power out killing your ability to charge the battery. I would still want to see that video though.
Love it!! 😂 I haaaaate long intros, especially for product reviews. However, this video was such a joy to watch. You sir are doing a dam-good job. Favorite part was where you wiped your fingers on the grass lol.
Good choice. Always better to get a chainsaw that meets 90% percent of your needs perfectly, but must be occasionally pushed to it's limits, then to buy an overpowered chainsaw and underuse it. I respect your choice more than 99% of the guys who overspend on huge gas saws they don't need.
Really some of the best content on youtube, but I must say, you seem to defy the statistical likeliness of hospital visits caused by what you do in your videos hahahaha
Not at this time... I keep putting the two off I had- but don't have the motivation much any more. I already have reviewed the biggest, brightest, and best EDCs. I think I overloaded myself- because I don't see any new lights I'm interested in.
Before I even press play on this, imma have to go with "no" if any of my experiences with lithium ion yard tools are in any way close to the experience this chainsaw is about to have. EDIT: Well, that went better than I was expecting. Though I'm still disappointed I didn't see any chainsaw batoning. Just think of the potential for views!
You made me wish I had bought this chainsaw instead of that POC gas Poulan I bought , less than two years old, won't start, I've got to put it in the shop for repairs/tuneup.
Hello excellent video, but I have a question. I have 12 DEWALT tools that I bought with DCB206 batteries, now I want to buy this chainsaw to cut small trees in my yard, but according to home depot they say that I cannot use the batteries that I have because it will burn the motor, as it suggests that these are Models DCB205, DCB205G, DCB205CK or DCB205-2 What do you recommend in this regard, it is true that it would burn the motor or if I can use my batteries. Thank you

It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
You’re the only guy that could get me to watch a chainsaw video. Bravo, sir.
I had to make it extra special- I haven't watched a full one either. Maybe I watched a short safety video once.
I have one of these saws and would like to offer additional information. First, the usable bar length is 10 1/2 inches. "The non-alcoholic beer of chainsaws" that's absolutely great.
lol i was thinking the same made me chuckle

😍😍 3 years later and this video is still kickin @ss!! The narration of your vids is very unique...love it! 👊👊

That's why I went with it... power on battery saws is a lot better these days, and since it finished the job I bought it for- it wins in my book.
Great video... Funny commentary, great editing, good choice of music, and an excellent demo of the saw and child labor. Two thumbs up!
That’s why people have kids right?

By the way the music with the slow motion 10 out 10. Bravo 👏
Took me a while today to get the music laid out just right...

Great, informative video, bro. And I loved the comedic element you brought to it. Cheers!
Well done bro again you made my day which was not going so well ... grateful!!
Glad you liked it... cheer up man!
Nice review. Battery powered yard tools are underrated.
Yup.
Wranglerstar will be proud. Seriously though, looks like you had a fun time with the little one. Too much cute.
It'd probably ding me on safety!
Warner bros has your approval! Yeah... I’m referring to the classical music/ timing which takes huge time editing
Every RUclips "video maker" should be required to watch, learn and emulate this guy.
Bought one of these for my grandmother's 81 birthday and she loves it
Aaron Blake prove it.
Ryan Brooks it's a joke
Aaron Blake your're a joke!
No I'm a joke. I bought a battery powered chainsaw.
Nothing wrong with celebrating her bd by buying yourself a... Chainsaw... I mean I guess it's kinda a chain saw. Glad your grandma is stoked about it

It is quite amazing how much you got done with that little battery pack. I would so buy this if I didn't live in an apartment in the middle of the city.
Those battery packs are way better than they used to be
Indeed. Still quite impressive. One might not feel as rugged but when one is above that it seems like a sensible choice.
Great content as always.
A little disappointed that batoning wasn’t attempted ;)
But thumbs up for your assistant!
She was a great helper.
Good humor. This video really helped. Mine had stopped working. I did not know about the safety bar.
I miss my daughter at that age😭 Great video.
Excellent music choice. Wish I could say the same for the chainsaw. Dinosaur squeezings make for a higher chooch factor.
just discovered today your informative and humorous video...learned and smiled....a good combination for me for life....thank you ..enjoy the rides and the beer...
This makes me want to buy a chainsaw. I don't have any trees but my neighbor does. This is the best video on RUclips this year.
Lol your hilarious.... excellent video... the sarcasm is GOLD
I found this video thoroughly enjoyable. Nice choice of tunes bro! Cute kid, my girls turning two end of this month.
Shes about two and a half, and loves helping.
I do! Everyday is different and fun. Love watching her learn
@@AdvancedKnifeBro kids love to "help" when they're little but when she is old enough to really be help, good luck finding her. At least that was my experience. Gotta luv 'em.

That looked way more fun than it should've been.
I had a lot of fun. I had to share the fun!

Wanted to decide on a lithium chainsaw. Loved your video. You have talent. Thanks. Will buy one like yours.
I love the finger wipe on the grass from the dirty diaper at 0.28 did you change the diaper ? lol but great video !
Yes... I left that on the cutting room floor, so to speak.
36,676 views and 10 months later. You definitely beat your 5k over 3 years. This video just sold me on the saw. Does your daughter come with the saw as a addon to help with the pickup labor in my moms yard. If so she will buy one as well if she gets a helper with the sale.
Who knew! That’s if nearly every one of my subscribers watched this video! Great chainsaw though
I’m super excited for the video where you change out the chain bar
The guy!
You could have had a companion machete video for those smaller branches. that little hatchet was just hard work.
Watching your videos somehow always makes life a little better thanks Advaced Knife Bro.
Love the video; very informative but also very engaging and witty! Nice job!
Thank you!
Impossible to fault this review! Merry Christmas for OZ!
“Because that’s parenting”. Yep, right on the money with that observation.
The pisser will be if the next wind storm knocks your power out killing your ability to charge the battery. I would still want to see that video though.
When the power went out, I had about 7 flashlights around the house ceiling bouncing light- I'm all set for that!
Great review and sense of humour 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Awesome video dewalt should pay you for this one, thanks for the info
I totally respect your tot's tats. Start 'em young, raise 'em fierce!
Oh yeah... we shot that half last week. And just so everyone is clear she was not outside when the chainsaw was running!
I also like that 1 person decided this video was just not for them.
Less than my others!
One of the best videos ever man! I just ordered mine. Thanks
Really some of the best content on youtube, but I must say, you seem to defy the statistical likeliness of hospital visits caused by what you do in your videos hahahaha
Speeding up the footage makes it look way less tame than it really was!
Except I'm referring to you jumping into a pile of sticks all aimed directly at your eyeballs hahahahha
"Statistical Likeliness" wasn't even a thing before RUclips. It inversely correlates to the number of "safety" comments saying a visit is a certainty.
I'm actually in the market for a chainsaw this summer, thanks for the video! Any upcoming flashlight reviews in the works?
Not at this time... I keep putting the two off I had- but don't have the motivation much any more. I already have reviewed the biggest, brightest, and best EDCs. I think I overloaded myself- because I don't see any new lights I'm interested in.
This was perfect. I enjoyed the whole video and would share a beer with you after a hard days labor.
Thanks man!
I dunno, it fared just fine with what I needed it for.
see edit above.
Got it!
You made me wish I had bought this chainsaw instead of that POC gas Poulan I bought , less than two years old, won't start, I've got to put it in the shop for repairs/tuneup.
Do a video on your Chris Reeve knife also. Your video has helped me but your cutting green wood I’m cutting dry dead branches , any thoughts?
I did it, just search my name and sebenza
Broski this is your calling I enjoyed the $hit out of this "review" especially the (5:30) slo-mo and bought the darn thing. Keep up the good work.
By far the best chainsaw review ever lol
Thanks man!
Excellent choice going with Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody as the background music.
You do really good narrating this video. Great job.
Thanks man!
The sarcasm is strong, and super entertaining
Hello excellent video, but I have a question. I have 12 DEWALT tools that I bought with DCB206 batteries, now I want to buy this chainsaw to cut small trees in my yard, but according to home depot they say that I cannot use the batteries that I have because it will burn the motor, as it suggests that these are Models DCB205, DCB205G, DCB205CK or DCB205-2 What do you recommend in this regard, it is true that it would burn the motor or if I can use my batteries. Thank you
Wahrlich einer der unterhaltsamsten Kanäle in der weiten You Tube Welt! :-)
Good job....go on!
Peace
Stephan
Your daughter is growing so fast. I remember you used to carry her strapped to your back in videos. So beautiful 😁😁😁
Yep... she's big, and talking up the storm. Always wants to help.
Came for the saw, stayed for the commentary!!
Best chainsaw review video ever.
