bre m no one said he's better than jordan, david robinson said he wishes he could be abdul for a day, he was a heck of a shooter who could pile on the points just like curry, he was a much better shooter than jordan, even reggie praises him and he's one of the best shooters there is.
Go watch the video of him putting an easy 32 points on the 72-10 bulls and breaking their 18 game winning streak. Only if the powers that be left him alone and let him play. Damn shame, another brother done dirty in his prime.
Abdul Rauf was a good player but the NBA had to make an example out of him bcuz he didn't want to stand for the pledge of allegiance in protest of the Iraq war. He got blackballed just like Colin Kaepernick is being balckballed now from the NFL. Abdul Rauf just got picked to play in Ice Cube's Big Three so he will re-emerge at the age of 48 to play ball again.
i still remember reading that in my uni's library and i live across the pacific ocean. jackson/ abdul-rauf was a bball hero of mine growing up in the philippines
Like Curry, but I can't compare him to Mahmood. I remember Mahmood at LSU vs Alabama, the Alabama squad said they shut Mahmood down, he only had 38. lol Dude was uncheckable period.
Ive seen rauf play live and curry too and rauf is not on the same level on curry not even close, The people saying rauf is better then curry are people who are trying to look like they have Basketball knowledge and look cool. Cos one most people today wouldnt know who rauf is. So it makes them feel smart and make them think they know basketball just cos they know a player that somone else doesnt.
If you factor in everything possible, I'd say they are very similar. If we take into account Mahmoud's scoring killer instinct, today's rules, a green light from the coach and a powerhouse team like golden state. He would be as lethal as steph.
To be fair, their games are similar. Curry is about 4 inches taller. Rauf was quicker and could get his shot against anyone, a pure scorer. The rules have also changed and guys don't play defense anymore. No one had really seen anything like Jackson/Rauf when he got to LSU. The unfortunate thing is Rauf's career was cut short and the media is almost afraid to say his name mainly over him not standing for the flag. The fact that people like Phil Jackson even draw a comparison with how people react to Rauf and get away with it shows how good he was. Talent vs talent..Rauf could score on anyone, I wouldn't make the same bet on curry vs anyone
Well Rauf was a lot quicker shot was just as smooth. Penetrated a lot more with less help I might add and did I mention he had the range also. Pull up his college and pro highlights. When he was in the pros it was a lot more physical I might add. Not talking anything away from Curry but it's going to be easier when you have 3 superstars playing with you.
Train 19 lol klay would never be a star on a different team. The warriors are why he's so good. Draymond is only good at defense dumbass so that doesn't matter. Kd was only on the Warriors for a year and curry won 2 mvps before that
The first man I ever saw pull up for 3 on a fast break, with Shaq running the lane. Bad man: Mahmoud "don't call me Chris Jackson" Abdul-Rauf! NBA & David Stern is dirty. Don't forget about Craig Hodges too.
OMG, just watched UTEP v LSU 1989 ncaa tourney clip on RUclips…. Chris Jackson (Mahmoud) v Tim Hardaway…WOW, forgot how good a playa he was (as a freshman) Luv me some Timmie too
People don't talk about Abdul much because of him being Muslim and his big national anthem fallout pretty much dominated negative talk about him. But I watched him on RUclips too and man I am very impressed. The speed that he had a a very solid jumper. Him and Curry are very very similar. I have to say that he had more speed and better handle than Curry though but they are pretty close. Abdul was also alot shorter. Curry is a bigger guy. Abdul was 5-10.
Patrick Adzimah Because in today's game they never been taught how to defend! They simply cannot play defense on anybody because the game doesn't want that anymore. The NBA looks like a pick-up game, running and shooting 3s and dunking is all there is to it! If you think for a moment it pretty much looks like a video game because it is all part of the entertainment industry: no rivalries, no honor, no prestige, no chemistry, no team spirit, only paychecks and overrated values on a sad, fast market.
Lee Unagi lmao you sound like a 50 yr old bald fat guy who over romanticized the 80's n 90's lol...The game after the bad boys got to be a jail house overly physical rut! Scores of 88 to 92 ugly fights hand checking made for a terrible watch I was dead center of those horrible offensive games NYC the Knicks!!
Too bad. Mahmoud was victim of his beliefs. He deserved to be a star. He was an amazing shooter i was kid when i saw him playing in Nba...there are a lot of similarites between Steph and Mahmoud
Both are similar, Curry is a better 3 point shooter, has the green light to shoot where mahmoud never had the hand cuffs taken off, defense both about the same, mahmouds a better free throw & mid range shooter, both are great off the dribble shooters, curry's better full court player Mahmouds better 1/2 court. Both don't make a lot of mistakes, curry's a fancier passer but mahmoud's a better precision passer.
clayton ives i never said he wasn't good, but you can't just say he had speed and was good at shooting. anyone who just watches highlights could say the same. by the way you speak it sounds like you weren't even around to watch shaq.
Today's Lesson: 1.0. YOU do realize that Shaquille O'Neal played at LSU ...WITH Chris Jackson bka Mahmoud Abdul Rauf!?? I just thought you should know since you're telling folks about their knowledge or lack thereof!
It is hard to compare players from different eras. I personally watch Abdul-Rauf in college and the pros and I have watched Steph Curry in college and in the pros. The only question I would ask is if you gave Abdul-Rauf Curry's supporting cast and Curry's Abdul-Rauf's supporting staff who would they look? There is no question in my mind that Curry's game would suffer and Abdul-Rauf's would flourish. Before Durant, you can not ignore Curry's supporting cast of current and former All-Stars. He was drafted into a solid defensive and offensive team on the rise while Abdul-Rauf played for a horrible Denver Nugget team.
The sad thing is...Curry never really watched or understood Rauf, nor he will ever come close to him in terms of fierceness. He might get to the HOF because of his stats but that's about it. If Curry will disappear from RUclips around 2030, people like him will not remember him but they will still remember Rauf with or without RUclips. I know it's eerie but just wait and watch. ;)
Right! Do you remember who was the MVP in any of the seasons before 2000 except MJ?? We live in a visual society: if phenomenons are not seen, they tend to not exist for the brains of the people. Just like Rauf didn't really exist for Curry because Curry said it, he lacks basketball knowledge. And that's the case with 90% of the people who comment on social media nowadays. ;) They don't know much because they never really watched a game with all these legends who are very, very hard to match in the future simply because they had a very sweet balance between physical abilities, intelligence and teamwork, and let's not forget about the passion for the game (which is the opposite of the financial interest that rules today!).
You said people will still remember rauf in 2030, but won't remember curry ? People now don't even remember rauf, he didn't win anything, great player but he didn't have as big of an impact on the NBA like curry has
There is a huge difference between them: Rauf career was ended by the NBA/government! And yet he is still a legend. Curry is not. But he might be one day. He will only have to explain why he got his MVP(s) unrightfully while others were jacking up bigger numbers but were ignored by the NBA. James Harden should have been the MVP at least ONCE in the last two years. But I don't want to shatter your dreams so I will stop here. ;)
Mahmoud Abdul Rauf was championship bound 100%, but they abused the dude and kicked him out the league, just because of his beliefs.
great to see greats giving a muslim respect but also that abdul rauf is getting the respect he deserves
WetRee hakeem???
@@RealityCheck312 lmao i was jit my fault
@S D i was a jit chilll
I remember david robinson saying if he could be another nba player he would want to be adul over jordan, that speaks volumes of just how good he was.
kaeros fentis he was never better than jordan, knock it off.
bre m no one said he's better than jordan, david robinson said he wishes he could be abdul for a day, he was a heck of a shooter who could pile on the points just like curry, he was a much better shooter than jordan, even reggie praises him and he's one of the best shooters there is.
kaeros fentis David Robinson meant Kareem Abdul Jabbar, not Abdul Rauf.
Bill Gibbons No he said Abdul Rauf go look it up its on youtube!
hoovercrip7 I did look it up. You're correct. My fault.
Matter of fact go watch the video of him putting 51 on Stockton and the jazz.
Dayum....Thats funny...51🤣🤣🤣
Never ever was a Jazz fan👎
Go watch the video of him putting an easy 32 points on the 72-10 bulls and breaking their 18 game winning streak. Only if the powers that be left him alone and let him play. Damn shame, another brother done dirty in his prime.
Michael Johnson SO TRUE!!!
how 30 pts a game at LSU as an 18 yo!!!
The first person to beat Jordan 1 on 1 Chris Jackson
Hi
He was in college too against an NBA super star in MJ. It was 2 -0 mind
Exactly.
Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf
AND the Last!!!
Abdul Rauf was a good player but the NBA had to make an example out of him bcuz he didn't want to stand for the pledge of allegiance in protest of the Iraq war. kim alonzo Stephon Marbury
kim alonzo you are so right.
In protest of the Iraq war? U mean the one that America started
Difference is, Kaepernick sucks at football and his initial message got lost in his pursuit of becoming a SJW celebrity.
Weapons of Mass deception
still own that Sports Illustrated cover story about him when he was at LSU
i still remember reading that in my uni's library and i live across the pacific ocean. jackson/ abdul-rauf was a bball hero of mine growing up in the philippines
the title was...He's a pistol
Like Curry, but I can't compare him to Mahmood. I remember Mahmood at LSU vs Alabama, the Alabama squad said they shut Mahmood down, he only had 38. lol Dude was uncheckable period.
Mahmoud, or Chris Jackson at the time, is the reason I started watching college hoop!
Exactly! Curry is definitely the second coming of Abdul Rauf
Rauf way more explosive and quicker. But I see what you're saying
+Patrick Freitas I think Mahmoud had the better handle as well.
abdul rauf is no where near the same league as curry.
Stop before you hurt yourself! :P Go watch 10 games with Rauf and then try to watch one game with Curry if you can. I dare you! ;)
Ive seen rauf play live and curry too and rauf is not on the same level on curry not even close, The people saying rauf is better then curry are people who are trying to look like they have Basketball knowledge and look cool. Mahmoud one of the best system took it away from him same as craig hodges
Francis Be EXACTLY!!!
The best NCAA BASKETBALL player I've ever seen...
CHRIS JACKSON...
ABDUL-RAUF
Steph is so humble and great 👍character guy..you can just tell
To be fair, their games are similar. Curry is about 4 inches taller. Rauf was quicker and could get his shot against anyone, a pure scorer. Harry Palms guys don't play defense anymore? You don't know anything about basketball my B.
Well Rauf was a lot quicker shot was just as smooth. Penetrated a lot more with less help I might add and did I mention he had the range also. Pull up his college and pro highlights. +Train 19 Well said! Too bad all these young biased mofos around here have no clue and will NEVER understand...
Train 19 lol klay would never be a star on a different team. The warriors are why he's so good. Draymond is only good at defense dumbass so that doesn't matter. Kd was only on the Warriors for a year and curry won 2 mvps before that

M.A.R. LSU highlights was litty af !!
OMG, just watched UTEP v LSU 1989 ncaa tourney clip on RUclips…. Chris Jackson (Mahmoud) v Tim Hardaway…WOW, forgot how good a playa he was (as a freshman)
Luv me some Timmie too
Mahmoud was steph curry BEFORE steph curry
95% FT shooting in a season. Not even Curry has done that
Mahmoud abdul-Rauf the best shooter in NBA history
People don't talk about Abdul much because of him being Muslim and his big national anthem fallout pretty much dominated negative talk about him. But I watched him on RUclips too and man I am very impressed. The speed that he had a a very solid jumper. Him and Curry are very very similar. I have to say that he had more speed and better handle than Curry though but they are pretty close. Abdul was also alot shorter. Curry is a bigger guy. Abdul was 5-10.
lawreneph His handles was nowhere near Curry's but he was quicker
Curry makes top NBA level defensive players fall to the floor
Patrick Adzimah Because in today's game they never been taught how to defend! They simply cannot play defense on anybody because the game doesn't want that anymore. +Lee Unagi facts from one sports fan to a nother
Was curry in 90s
Chris Jackson was no joke. Saw him score 5 games in a row scoring over 40 points at Lsu. He went to the same college a Shaq. .
Too bad. Mahmoud was victim of his beliefs. He deserved to be a star. He was an amazing shooter i was kid when i saw him playing in Nba...there are a lot of similarites between Steph and Mahmoud

Mahmoud Abdul Rauf is way better speed shooting everything
clayton ives doesn't sound like you know shit about basketball

+clayton ives Tell 'Em, Son!!! The dude was NIIIIICE!
clayton ives i never said he wasn't good, but you can't just say he had speed and was good at shooting. anyone who just watches highlights could say the same. by the way you speak it sounds like you weren't even around to watch shaq.

The real deal.
Steph isn’t being honest....how can you be a student of the game as a pg and haven’t studied Mahmoud Abdul Rauf. I don’t believe this at all
@Future Hendrix ? Credit for a person u dont know and have connection with?
@Future Hendrix just cause u know him doesnt mean everybody does
@Future Hendrix there are alot of great pgs in the past era and was better than abdul have some sense bro
Steph definitely picked up some of his game.
Abdul-Rauf ****** D best
Funny everybody was making fun of Phil Jaskson for saying curry plays like abdu rauf
WELP THEY JUST ALIKE STEPH PUT IN MIND OF CHRIS JACKSON AFTER AWHILE THEM BOYS COULD FILL IT UP...
Way better than Curry ever could be. He is down playing Mahmoud MAJORLY!
CHRIS JACKSON IS THE BEST POINT GUARD THAT EVER WATCH ON T.V. EVER
Great One Calm down. The Pistons Isaiah Thomas. lets be real Rauf was a ball hog if I can recall but he was good
Is it just me or does Steph try way too hard to be cool when he speaks? Either that or he is the laziest speaker I've ever seen.
Umm.. 3rd?!
first
second
This dude is so dang cocky. His whole aura is annoying.Wish somebody would old school 90's foul him out his shoes!!
You actually couldn't do that much in the 90's anymore either. And why do people think that being expressive makes you cocky?
The sad thing is...Curry never really watched or understood Rauf, nor he will ever come close to him in terms of fierceness. He might get to the HOF because of his stats but that's about it. Steph is lying see how he's smiling all the time he knows very well who Mahmoud was he was watching him as kid he was his role model
