Another note for some cars: You must not rev the 2018 Supra and the Corvette up to the redline because they run out of power and you’ll end up being slower. You also need to rev the 650S up because it has a pretty severe turbo lag and power doesn’t really exist until the HUD’s rev line appears
I managed not too bad pace with the McLaren, but the final chicane is terribly easy to lose control, plus it’s just shit and understeers everywhere, I only use it cause it looks nice
I use the Sylvia or the Mitsubishi GTO. There’s a tune guide for it somewhere that I ‘borrowed’ that makes it even better than the Sylvia for Le Mans. By the end of lap 1, I’m usually just taking p1
@Unleashed Drivers to add to the “shift different cars at different RPM” thing, you can get a pretty good idea of it by reading the peak power and torque figures in the car data screen (either in brand central or garage). You’ll see that cars like the Vette have very low max RPM figures around 6k rpm for max power, while stuff like the mclaren or Ferrari easily needs over 8.5K rpm to get max power
Thank you for the info, I've been playing catch up with Gran Turismo 7 since it released and so I'm still learning new things about it all the time. I wasnt aware you could find those figures in GT7.
Props to Unleashed for not only doing a lot of work to dig into all of these models, but the scientific approach put into it. You have to admire the time and effort that went into creating a tiered listing of worst to best of all Gr.3 cars in the game and then coming out with comments on each. So well done! Thank-you!
The fuel usage is very interesting. I've been playing with the DBR9 and Merc AMG a lot on the Lake Maggiore Human Comedy mission. I've won with both cars, but I burn significantly more fuel in the AMG and spend 8 seconds longer in the pits filling up. My best finish so far is 30 laps in 1:00:31 in the DBR9. I lap faster in the Merc, but only have clawed back 7 seconds of that time. All my winning runs are using the two stopper on mediums.
My go to is the BRZ GT300 Great handling Decent acceleration Good fuel economy Good tire saver But the top speed is lacking hard If u do 800 pp races than I have no problems But if I go to sport mode and play online I feel quite comfortable but as soon as I hit straight line Cars such as Corvettes just dominate
Thanks for the vid, really nice. I had my first lobby race with friends last week gr3 bop at brands hatch. I tried the audi R8 Evo as I already had it as a gift and it drives quite nice in ACC. But I found it absolutely horrible in GT7, loads of snap oversteer coming off the brakes / corner entry. Quick over one lap but terrible for endurance. I will try out the RSR and AMG for the next race from your recommendations
Really fantastic video, thank you! I was one of the viewers who requested it and it exceeded my expectations! Great job! If you were going to do another track I would suggest Lake Maggiore because it has the 1hr Gr3 BoP race that alot of players struggle with (myself included!). I know you recommended the Renault but rightly advised that it's very difficult to get on with so may not suit some players. I also tried it with your 2nd pick (the Z4?), had an easier time but severely lacked raw pace. So that would be my pick of circuits for sure as it really divides between those who can and can't! Thank you again!
Thanks for your comment! Honestly it was a satisfying feeling to see the results after sorting all the math out. I'm up for doing more of these videos however they take a long time to make. I'll put Maggiore on the list, it might not be the next one I do thought mostly because of the recently guide videos I did but I'll get to it
I did it (1h Maggiore) with the Z4, after trying and failing with the Renault. I found my pace to be really good with the Z4. I did 1h0m27sec, so more 17 secs than Unlished’. I found that I was way faster on the Z4 than on the Renault, especially on Mediums. The Z4 understeersza lot, but on the slow corners (turn 2 and the banked hairpin) was so much faster exiting that it more than compensates for the understeer. Also it is way faster on the straights. You really have to cut those S’s though!
Only thing I'll say is I'm super visual, so seeing a lot of cars in cockpit view made it hard to remember which one we were talking out. At least a couple seconds of 3rd person view would be great just so I don't have to grab the name, then go searching for which one that is. But, awesome video, thanks for the effort!
Thanks for the hard work....interesting and useful results :) NB The Corvette need to be shifted about 55-60% for best power, and its fuel efficiency will be waaaay better ;) Mazda is also very fuel efficient and fast if you shift low in the revs
A note for the ford GTs: I have 1k km with The 2018 car and one thing to note is that it’s extremely low slung and its balance is 33:67 or something so it will snap a lot. Because it’s low slung you need to avoid kerbs on entry since you will stall its giant rear diffuser and you need to avoid dropping the revs too low because the diff settings are fucked. it also has a lot of traction due to its low power and turbo lag Both of the Ford GT LM Spec II cars use the same supercharged V8 engine but the white one has the V6T sound for some reason. Also putting them on fuel map 6 for a very short time will yield a good result in fuel efficiency
@@unleasheddrivers1281 A neat trick to counteract the offset weight balance is to get a ballast and adjust the weight in that till the weight distribution figure hits 50/50
You have to check the ECU graph to see where to shift, I use Corvette all the time and you mostly short shift it, especially in longer races where you save a ton of fuel by shifting at 1/3 of rev bar. This is especially useful because the Corvette doesn't lose much power short shifted, on the contrary I think the best time to shift is at just above the medium rev bar. Best car I drove yet, very responsive, can get crazy under power, but in general amazing piece of machine.
Thank you for this awesome review. I am looking for fun cars for online races. I hate the boringness of the VW Beetle. That's all anyone drives online nowadays.
I got as far as the McLaren F1 GTR. the McLaren F1 GTR is my go to and do the 1hr spar race with it at least 3 times a week, with a standard setup I'm constantly lapping in the 2:15's it has great fuel economy when shifting using the dash shift light. You do need to keep it balanced with your inputs and when you need to push you can confidently go just beyond the grip level and gently slide it through the sweepers. I'm currently playing gt7 with a fanatec DD1 podium.
Thanks a lot for the effort! I've been experimenting with different Gr. 3 cars in different races and I agree with your opinion in most cars. This would be of great help for all players, whether online racing or world circuits.
Thanks for a great presentation. Glad you're changing your t-shirt! Dayton, Dragon's Tail & Le Mans are my favorite tracks. Group 4, maybe? I hated the Peugot RCZ. What a dog!
IMO the Spec II update changed a few things. I don't know how accurate this list is now a year later. The Ford GT 18 is planted the only car I can easily run with 0 TC.
You put some decent work into that list, well done. Really informative. Guess I'm gunna have to park my fave Grp 3 from GT Sport (Nissan GTR Grp 3) in the garage :)
Not necessarily if you are comfortable in a specific car you can beat all the tryhards using the current meta cars in gt sport i always went off meta and only drove the genesis in gr3 races(except manufacturers) in gt7 especially with gr 4 races i find the s15 is better than people give it credit
Citron Gt has horrible fuel efficiency, but with maxxed downforce the thing can take any turn, and still be very quick, but you have to make 2x as many pits making it easy to get overtaken a lot when your pitting and loose your place
Awesome video mate… I can tell a lot of work went into this, you’ve just earned yourself another subscriber … Great idea this video was, & looking forward to the same video on different tracks ..👍🏼
It's roughly the same but cars with better handling will have the edge on shorter tracks most rwd and awd cars will be competitive in bop races though most people will just run whatever is current meta for example the wrx in gr4
Astonishing amount of work that you put in this presentation! Do you have the spreadsheet posted anywhere, will you be comparing other tracks? May seem pointless, because all of the most recent daily races have had no fuel / tire / pit strategy.
After doing this all in notepad I highly regret not making a spreadsheet for this. I'm going to consider doing that for next time. My thought was that if there was enough interest, I would continue to make these videos for other tracks too. The information I showed at the end of the video is the only sort of worksheet I have now, it was all done very manually so next time I'll try figure out a spreadsheet.
Yeah man do another track. You got it on lock. \m/ alot work u put into I knew the vette would be top 3 for sure lol I'm going to buy a mustang now tho for sure

I personally feel the Viper should be MUCH higher, but I'm insanely biased, XD. The Viper is a great car, All really down to the guy/gal behind the wheel. Vipers are a scary car that need to be seen in Sport more often, these things are ANIMALS.
Excellent job, I am surprised that I have watched the entire video, I usually get bored with that kind of lenght. This was not the case. Thanks for all the advices, I will stick with the 911.
Understand that this is just a rough guide as to picking out your next Gr3 car. You might come to like a car that’s all the way at the bottom of the list, for me it’s the McLaren 650s GT3 ‘15. You might be good with a particular car, understanding how it works, and being a good driver. It’ll offset the car’s mechanical limitations :)
Hey man, I am late to the game. I’ve had GT7 for a couple of years but just bought my Thrustmaster T300 and got serious about sim-racing. I been at Sport Mode for 3 weeks now and I was wondering if you can do a video for the best GT 3 car overall?
Nooooo I searched like 3 times for typos! I cant believe i missed that one haha. Well hey they are basically the same car right? ;p Thanks for the appreciation!
Hi, thank you for the video. I’m just getting started with GT7 (never played Gran Turismo series before but have 25 years on PlayStation). I am yet to get/buy any racing car just yet. Based on various stats, seems like Porsche 911 RSR would be a great car. How is the handling on this - is it good for beginners?
@@unleasheddrivers1281 in some cars its a huge disadvantage in my opinion by not being able to tell when to turn in to corners as easily because the view is blocked. Hope im making sense 😄 Kudos to you for using the cockpit view. Its the most immersive way to play for sure.
To get bop set ups; *Make an open lobby and call it test. *Just friends and 2 people. *Practice/race Then you can free run in practice with bop and whatever fuel or tyre settings you want.
@@Justin-hd2vz stands for balance of power basically all it does is automatically tune certain cars in a class(gr3, gr4, etc) to balance them so that they are all competitive and restricts custom tunes so say you made some crazy fast gtr tune you wouldn't be able to use it with Bop on
to be honest i feel like theres a faster car for any class on any track or at least a couple of tracks, some seem to suit certain tracks than others, another big impact is not every car will suit everyone driving style.
if you do these again, would be good to show the chase camera for part of it so we can see what the car looks like for us dummies that haven't memorised each vehicle :P
Really helpful guide!! It's really hard to find stuff to do with meta cars on this game so thanks for the thorough testing!! If you could do Daytona or Autopolis at some point, that would be cool!! Thanks and good luck!
Thanks mate. I'm sure doing Daytona will be a lot more straight forward than Spa so I wont mind that haha. I'm happy to try any track though, thanks for your suggestions
I'm convinced the game will shift the AI based on how you tune your car and the PP. I went in one time with the berlinetta at 900+hp. It was below the 730pp requirements. Grade 3 runs anywhere from 500hp to 700hp. The game wouldn't let me pass anyone. I can't make this up. It's like it nerfed my car plus it gave horrible fuel economy. I'm sure race cars drive different fuel. Didn't research don't care that much. The game jips me. Now I go in and tune with my grade 3 supra. Tune it right to 730pp. Despite having to climb from last place. I beat the race a lot was due to pit management, but still. So I think as long as you meet the pp requirements. Determine which car you think may have good fuel economy oh and how they handle to see which tires will wear faster. I'm sure most cars you can gain a victory with.

I just finished the GT championship, perfect timing, thank you for doing this.
Wow this vid looks like a lot of work. Thanks mate, its great
Nice I've just bought a T GT II with T LCM pedals and a couple of rims so look forward to your content mate
Thanks for a great presentation. Glad you're changing your t-shirt!
Dayton, Dragon's Tail & Le Mans are my favorite tracks.
Group 4, maybe? I hated the Peugot RCZ. What a dog!
A Beetle being top 10 over all the concept supercars is really funny
Appreciate the time taken to do this dude 🙌
Thanks so much! I'm glad you appreciate it 😁
It’s a great vid. Many thanks. Next to fuel it would be helpful to also get an idea of tires consumption. What would then be the best car?
Insane Effort buddy, amazing!
There are so many tracks, like Freeway
Citron Gt has horrible fuel efficiency, but with maxxed downforce the thing can take any turn, and still be very quick, but you have to make 2x as many pits making it easy to get overtaken a lot when your pitting and loose your place
Thanks for this great video ⭐️.
I would like to see what car is best in wet conditions, that could be a interesting one. 🏁
Wow awesome work. I love stats! Very useful.
Phenomenal video, I love it!
Awesome video mate… I can tell a lot of work went into this, you’ve just earned yourself another subscriber … Great idea this video was, & looking forward to the same video on different tracks ..👍🏼
Nice video - Excel will make this way easier to analyze.
Subscribed as soon as you said you're a fellow Kiwi 😊
It would be awesome if you would do the same thing but with gr.4 cars!
I'd vote for testing out Gr3 at Le Mans. Thanks! Great video with the vision cars included.
le mans is gr4
Geez man well done, earned a sub for sure!
Great job 👍. Thank you 😊.
Great to see my favorite gr3 car coming in at 10
Shifting more early with the corvette will give you better top speeds and save (a lot) fuel. No need to fill the rev meter
Check the updated pinned comment, I re ran the Corvette. It had the same lap times but was much better on fuel
Wow, absolutely insane work.
Can you please make the same contest on a short and tight circuit? Spa is a long and straight circuit
It's roughly the same but cars with better handling will have the edge on shorter tracks most rwd and awd cars will be competitive in bop races though most people will just run whatever is current meta for example the wrx in gr4
Brilliant work mate, that's awesome, maybe do gr. 4 cars next, thanks
@@unleasheddrivers1281 if you want I can convert your notepad into Spreadsheet. Can run some regression analysis as well. To ensure your statement/hypothesis can be backed strongly with data analytics.
Also, this is not something I will charge, but reaching out to support you.
I personally feel the Viper should be MUCH higher, but I'm insanely biased, XD. The Viper is a great car, All really down to the guy/gal behind the wheel. Vipers are a scary car that need to be seen in Sport more often, these things are ANIMALS.
Weird considering the GT3 AMGs use the old 6,2 na for most endurance races. I myself was baffeled when I found that out
Excellent job, I am surprised that I have watched the entire video, I usually get bored with that kind of lenght. This was not the case. Thanks for all the advices, I will stick with the 911.
The only downside i can see on the Aston Martin DBR9 is its bad brakes. Otherwise i think this is a very underrated car and deserves more Spotlight
Yeah!!! go the RSR, I'm starting the lego build and a big GT7 fan. thanks for the vid.
Wow that was some graft ,Cheers for taking the trouble to test every car p.s fook Nurburgring lol
Would be terrific if you would do this for the Gr.4 cars too.
44 cars 6 that are usable. They need to get the Bop figured out.
Hey man, I am late to the game. I’ve had GT7 for a couple of years but just bought my Thrustmaster T300 and got serious about sim-racing. I been at Sport Mode for 3 weeks now and I was wondering if you can do a video for the best GT 3 car overall?
very useful and insightful video man! aside from the absolute butchering of the subaru name hahaha
Great video the visuals is fantastic
Show the Lambo Huracan, writes "Audi R8 LMS". Seems legit ^_^ Thanks for the hard work ;)
Nooooo I searched like 3 times for typos! I cant believe i missed that one haha. Well hey they are basically the same car right? ;p
Thanks for the appreciation!
My go to car is the NSX CONCEPT-GT '16
I get times around 2.15 average and this car runs 10 laps on fuel set-up 1 so very good for long race
Great vid, thanks for sharing!
The mid engine engine snap can be helped by being in a gear higher than 1st.
Lot of work. Thanks heaps!!
Hate to seethe rs01 near the end was my favorite car to use in gr3 races and drift around
This is insane dude. I owe you a sub at the very least.
Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept is such a beautiful car.
Lake Maggiore please. I'm really struggling with this one.
You're probably the only popular RUclipsr who plays this game from the cockpit.
Not sure if thats a good thing, it's how I've always driven on sim games but I can try to include more view points if it is helpful
@@unleasheddrivers1281 in some cars its a huge disadvantage in my opinion by not being able to tell when to turn in to corners as easily because the view is blocked. Hope im making sense 😄
Kudos to you for using the cockpit view. Its the most immersive way to play for sure.
Just like every racing series irl, it's a mercedes factory series
To get bop set ups;
*Make an open lobby and call it test.
*Just friends and 2 people.
*Practice/race
Then you can free run in practice with bop and whatever fuel or tyre settings you want.
What do you mean by this? Do you RUclips the bop settings? Thanks for any help!
@@yaddi7921 no you can set bop settings when setting up a lobby
What is bop?
@@Justin-hd2vz stands for balance of power basically all it does is automatically tune certain cars in a class(gr3, gr4, etc) to balance them so that they are all competitive and restricts custom tunes so say you made some crazy fast gtr tune you wouldn't be able to use it with Bop on
just a heads up, around 20:30 you are referring to the Hurrican, but are listing an Audi
Nice work, very impressive.
Would enjoy seeing a GR.4 at Le Mans, if you're interested.
to be honest i feel like theres a faster car for any class on any track or at least a couple of tracks, some seem to suit certain tracks than others, another big impact is not every car will suit everyone driving style.
if you do these again, would be good to show the chase camera for part of it so we can see what the car looks like for us dummies that haven't memorised each vehicle :P
Great work on this!
