- My quest to place as highly on a Gran Turismo 7 time trial. I believe that placing highly on the time trial leaderboards is one of the hardest and most frustrating challenges you can set for yourself. In this one, I try to get as close as I can to the very top of the leaderboard for this time trial.

For what it's worth, your time trial videos are some of my favorite on your channel. The IA10 license and the Lewis Hamilton dlc are easily top 5 all-time super gt videos. I know you've said time trialing isn't "your thing" but the videos are fantastic and I wouldn't complain one bit if you did them more often haha
Thank you very much for the kind words. I think the beauty of time trialling is really perfecting a given track/section. The more attempts and time you put into it, the more you realise what is truly possible.
@@Super_GT a philosopher 😩
@@Super_GT i really enjoy watching you progress though your time trials can't wait until you enter that elite class of player you talk about in the vid. Keep it up!!
Man, time trials will never get old. It's what got me sucked into hours of GT1-4. Endless pursuit of perfection, or if not perfection then just the best you're possibly capable of is very cathartic (albeit annoying at times).
It's like trying to catch lightning in a bottle. It's so frustrating when mess it up, but when you get all the corners on the track right, and launch out of that last one toward the strip, and you know it's going to be a great time when you get there, that's a good feeling.
I absolutely *crave* more time trails stuff like this from Super GT! Brilliant stuff, & sincerely, we enjoy it. Fascinating work &, in all sincerity, inspirational.
You’ve always had this pace in you, it was just a matter of putting in the effort to extract it 👏
Thank you. I definitely don't put in enough time to really fulfil my potential on GT but I still have quite a way to go to be world tour level - that's still quite a way off.
Editing in this video is spot on Steve
The level of dedication is just mindblowing
1000 laps to get that 1 perfect lap
To me you are 1 of the geatest sim players
as an amateur time attack driver i love this kind of stuff. it really does get nutty when you're pushing for the last second of what the car can do before you fly into a real wall. I hope you do more content like this
Steve I noticed you are back to hood cam again after experimenting with bumper cam. I think a lot of people myself included would be interested in your thoughts on pros / cons of each etc. great video 👍
I've just been wondering the same thing, I love cockpit view and have for years, would changing views improve my driving? I'm only a casual gamer so should I just stick with cockpit view? 🤔
I love watching your videos but I'm too old to have any aspirations of getting anywhere near as good as you, or anyone for that matter, so from an old rookie thankyou for sharing your expertise, 👏👏👏👏👍
@@dt1607 A lot of it just depends on personal preference, but I do think you’d ultimately do better with a different camera view (once you got adjusted to it). The cockpit view does look awesome, but I never do as well using that camera as I do using others (primarily bumper cam view). The view from inside the car tends to block a significant amount of your “peripheral” vision. That’s just my opinion though, that you’d do better with a different camera view. Go with whichever one you enjoy using the most.
That 'Great Banter' meme fit SO well. Cracked up man. Steve's sarcasm and meme usage is unmatched.
Really good point about following the wrong ghost, I think much more than 0.5s faster is too much to try and keep up with over a full lap - top tip for that:
If you go to the showcase and search for fastest lap replays at the same circuit/car etc. (The lap time is shown in the top-right corner of the thumbnail), you can add that replay to your collection (the button for this is on the replay preview screen) - once added, the ghost for that lap will appear as an option to load from the ghost settings next time you time-trial/qualify.
really enjoying the grand turismo races and content thanks for the great lessons and fun vids!
You provide really good entertainment, Steve. Makes my days better.
I hope to meet you one day Steve, you’ve really inspired me and motivated me to do what I love. Whenever im down, I click on your videos and honestly they give me a laugh. I appreciate you mate, keep the great content coming for as long as you dare ♥️
I commend your commitment and more importantly your patience. You’re stronger than most in that sense
Been watching your videos for awhile now but recently I’ve noticed how you better the track every time you go around! The self analysis is what I do in my head as I’m racing around every track!! Truly an inspiration for me and the reason I keep playing GT series. Keep driving and striving for the top! I’m sure you’ll get there sooner than later! ❤❤😊
These videos make me appreciate your other videos even more. The practice you put in is insane and a good reminder that being good doesn't just come naturally. I'm trying to get into sim racing and it's incredibly frustrating, especially with GT3 cars. These videos remind me it just takes practice. Thanks for putting these out
Just be fast and dont die of death
Keep your head up man, ive been watching you since some of the early days of Forza, and its good to see you really out here competing with some of the best. you got this man keep it up
Good content as always Steve, wish you the best of luck in your upcoming race, and I've certainly found your time trial videos to be the more memorable ones content wise. I think the best video I've seen of yours recently was the video where you spent all that time improving your time on Willow Springs then managed that amazingly consistent set of times in the race.
Man, i am happy if i’m within 2-3 seconds of the top times! I just don’t get how people are so fast and I do get equally frustrated when I can’t shave off anything from my time but more frustrated that I can’t even compete with you guys!
This is such an interesting channel. Be proud that you’ve gotten so good at breaking down your gameplay. I feel like I’m watching f1 & you’re the commentator. A damn good one!!
That was probably the most enjoyable video I've watched of yours. Plenty to take away to further improve my mindset and my driving. Thank you & keep going!
I only wish I'd found your channel earlier. So much fun and educational to watch. Keep up the good work!
2:42 I didn't even know the cars in GT could sound like that, I always thought of the games sound as boring and quiet but here you are using a different cam and treating me to some ear candy.
Nice.
Absolutely amazing. Super GT just keeps on reaching new levels (of speed and content quality). I'm looking forward to watching you become one of the world's top GT racers.
Love, love, love TT grinds. Could watch this stuff genuinely all day.
Dope content my man
Incredible scenes. Fully relatable too as a buddy of mine share exchanging blows in those per 2 week qualifying time trial challenges (Managed a top time too at the Interlagos one with the GT-R). Have to say though that I've been struggling lately, as you well know in those races we shared at Monza yesterday. A 2 week hiatus plus physics change will do that lol.
Feel like I'm having to relearn the whole game again but these are just typ. excuses of a sore loser haha so gotta git gud like a Dark Souls veteran would tell ya.
This vid has encouraged ruthless practise. Thanks for another one Steve.
Awesome video as always, Steve. Your most recent time trial vids have been really entertaining and well put together. When SuperGT posts a vid, nothing else matters for the rest of the day. Keep it up, man! Howdy from Texas.
Great video Steve, really enjoyed it. You’ve gotten very good at putting together & commentating your episodes. Keep up the good work. Good luck at Gumball
your dedication and passion is really fun to watch, keep at it mate!
Great video, love watching you grind it out and with your elite level attitude, you'll get to that elite level of GTSport driving.
I love your time trial video's, it shows the beauty of racing games - it is so rewarding and fair.
12:45 WELL DONE MY MAN!!!!!!
Dude you are literally my favourite RUclipsr for Gran Turismo content 🎉😊. Thanks to your advices I always improving on lap times 🔥👌. Greetings from Greece
Watching you constantly improve in just a single video with a brand new car with 0 miles on the clock, inspires me so much. I am addicted to Time Attack and this brings back a few memories, what we see in the video makes it look so easy, but as a content creator, I know this would have taken several attempts to perfect. Keep up the great work, you do exceptionally well hiding that inner anger when spinning out or meeting the infamous Barry R
You never fail to crack me up. "...and the crowd goes ballistic."
That's why I keep watching. Good stuff!
FINALLY, YOUR BACK!!! I've been wondering what happened to you. Great to see you BACK.
Really interesting video sir. Thankyou for documenting all your efforts towards catching a Frenchman. Top work. Very insightful for us mere humans. 👍🏽
Great video! Very insightful as always.
Fantastic effort. Fantastic editing. Time trial isn't my favorite of your content but it is encouraging to see you improve.
Love your TT content. I think a lot of us enjoy this side of GT.
Steve's sarcasm is SO FUNNY haha, keep it up!
Absolutely flying m8. Good stuff as always. That no1 lap is mental.
Love what I'm seeing. The fact that you've been at the top level of this game for so long and still have the motivation to improve even further is inspiring to see.
What a grind. Good job, Steve!
Great content lately, been enjoying every vid!
Keep it up bro
Thanks for this video it is awesome to watch. Even though I am a lot lot slower than you I am having the same frustrations. Watching all you really fast guys and girls I felt that it was effortless for you but this show that it isn't.
Doing the nurberg gp time trial for the last couple of weeks my optimal was about 1 second better than i could string together. I see that I am up and either overdrive the rest of the lap or under drive it and lose heaps of time. Just spending more time behind the wheel is helping as well. Thanks for the tip of not having a too fast a ghost to try and chase and just general of chipping away at it.
This made me wanna improve my times at Spain and monza. Did 5 mediocre laps and left feeling like it was just fine full knowing there’s more time to be gained. Love your videos man
A lot of dedication and patience there... amazing stuff!
I actually love doing time trials there is no greater opponents than you and the track.
this was actually quite entertaining seeing you improve
U cold af creepin up the ladder! Much kudos!! I have been analyzing your time trials and the ghosts, one thing i noticed, was the way the ghosts "rode the sausages" (lol) but i noticed the ghost didnt actually ride them, the cars split the sausages with the under carriage, rode em out without losing speed or weight distribution exiting corners. Jus a minor detail i noticed
I love your videos, keep up the good work!!
Nice one Steve; right into the nitty-gritty there 😀
Time trialing like that is one of my favourite things to do, but my efforts are... shall we say less sustained. I'm happy with the top 500 usually.
Great vid
Love seeing it brother I 100% agree you use the same method I do to improve my top in the world times. Your are the man man
Great video. It is wonderful watching you hone your skills.
It’s great to see your struggles and your victories! Make me realize that I’m not the one to have bad sessions 😅
"Eternal spinning circle of doom came and killed the console", man that was so good! 😂
Love watching these, reminds me of when I used to play a push bike racing gaming called free rider. I would spend hours and hours improving on tracks to try and get featured ghosts (featured ghosts were like the highest achievement you could get on a track, but they had to be perfect, and be deemed virtually impossible to improve upon). I eventually was regarded as one of the best players at the category of track I was good at. Would love to get into sim racing to scratch that same itch of trying to get the perfect time.
9:18 exact same time for the first 2 laps there is just WOW
So happy to see you in top-top tier list!
Watching Super GT time trial videos on 2X speed as he is crashing into a barrier is an indescribable feeling. I can only imagine what this will be like in VR.
Great video! This is also my weekly struggle, as my race pace is usually quite a lot better than my time trial pace.
I managed a 29.0 on Monday or Tuesday, then couldn't get close again on Wednesday. On Thursday I got my new load cell pedals so I needed to get used to them, causing me to do this time trial again quite a lot. But I never managed to get close again. In theory, yes, but getting all sectors together can be so difficult, especially on a track like this.
But still, it is quite fun. Especially when you see yourself improving over the time, as you've shown here
really loved this one!
Watching super gt is what got me into time attack runs in Forza Motorsport awhile back!
Hot lapping for me is the best way to get fast at any given track online racing is the only way to improve race craft and race pace Great Video
great commitment as always from super GT
The crashes in frustration is all too familiar for me 😂 such a relatable video. It's a love hate thing time trialing.
Haha same
I love these Time Trial videos
I noticed u took the outside corners first then taking the inside on the second attempt, an interesting new thing I learned about how to learn how to race
0:14 *_RALLYCROSS MOMENTO_*
Racing is usually more funny. This video was pretty serious but it was so *fascinating*. Awesome job.
~Went back through and watched that milometer go from 0 to pretty much 300. Mad x
Really enjoyed this pursuit for a faster time!
Really enjoyed the vid! TT is so frustrating but also exciting when you hook the corners correctly.
One question, have you though about taking a wide line through the final corner, so it sets up the straight line speed for the next corner since you have a better line. I do this in iRacing and can normally get 0.05-0.1s
Unbelievable amount of hours to make this video, much appreciated.
Im into the last license challenge for gold.
And man that’s some difficult shit 😂
But I recently got a wheel and it’s a whole different world to a controller
Keep up the good content bro
Get in there!!!
"just one away" - killed me
Actually enjoyed a lot that video, even without multi people racing. Please make a video trying to top 1 on time trial, would be a hella sick video!
This channel finally did it, I bought Gran Turismo 7 😆 hopefully Sony/Polyphony sees this comment and gives SuperGT the credit for selling me on this entry. Love your videos and your commentary is very inspiring!
I played GT7 the other day on my mates account 1st time I ever played it. Knocked 20 seconds of his best lap time and placed him 3726 in the world on that track and now he's bragging that he did it. You reckon the sofa helped me? 🐐
20 seconds? Is he driving with his eyes closed?
@@diplomatofthesosbrigade931 Maybe a long lap like Nordschleife. Totally possible to shave of 20 seconds there.
@@emmabuerstad4114 100%. The Nordschleife really adds up time for better or worse. It’s such a dirtbag move of his friend to take credit like that.
It was Sao Paulo btw
I did do the nurburgring by like 15 seconds though
Dragon Trail Gardens is one of my favourite tracks in GT Sport and GT 7. Getting the complex and the never ending corner is really satisfying when you get it right.
I really wish some of these curbs would cause car damage like in real life. They are heavily abused on some tracks.
That last lap of the penultimate day would have pissed me off so much more. Leaving 0.25 sec in the 1st sector on the table.
U r a cold driver tho! Mos definitely! I couldn't do it myself lol, your skill top notch. I enjoy analyzing data!
It's amazing seeing how you're confident enough to try to challenge the elites compared to the Forza videos years ago where you were showing your skill and potential but not the confidence.
I don’t think people realise how much of a big difference the milliseconds in a laptime can make
You really should enter the tournaments, the skill is absolutely there.
Well done Steve!
love the bonnet view alot more Steve
Hey 👋 you got the entry speed but the saying goes "Easy in equals fast out." And I'm sure someone said "The perfect entry gives you the perfect apex, a perfect apex leads to a perfect exit. A perfect exit means you're going as fast as physically possible in that moment."❤
This video gave me so much clarity on why I’m struggling to find a few seconds against the top people.
I simply do not have the time to do 100 runs for 0.05s of improvement
Its the way he does these videos, you see all the improvements mistakes and all…SuperGTgoat
The over maximizing of curbs in couple corners are really key as i can see.
Just kissing the curbs in some corners to have that extra turning momentum friction is another one.
There games need a 'one corner practice' mode where you can just do the same corner instead of the whole track
When Steve mentions waiting for the rotation in a couple of tighter/longer turns, is he referencing slowing the car down waiting for a tighter turn? I can't really get a good gauge for how the "rotation" is done in my own driving without bleeding too much time. Great video, really fun and insightful.
Loving the time trials
"Learning from the best, is the best way to learn", Steve probably..
Got the Istanbul Park Turn 8 vibes from that quadruple right hander.
