As a Sicilian guy I want to add that the Autodromo di Pergusa was first featured in the GTR series by SimBin being part of the FIA GT Championship calendar in those years (2003-2004). In fact many former members of SimBin then formed Slightly Mad Studios and they carried on many 3D models from the old GTR games to NFS Shift and Shift 2 Unleashed. The version featured in Shift 2 is a slightly modified version of the 3D model originally featured in the GTR series with lowered kerbs, some new trackside objects, different vegetation and revised textures, it even features the wrong (for 2011) old Proserpina chicane that was modified and made it slower in 2005. Other curiosity: from 1962 to 1965 this track hosted a non-championship F1 GP called Mediterranean Grand Prix.

AMS2 really deserves a mention here! I'd say amongst the current racing games it's definitely got the highest number of obscure tracks.
Most of them are Brazilian/South American - given the devs are from Brazil - but they also include some other obscure stuff like the Betonschleife or the Cleveland GP 😁
They even have the Caca Bueno - a temporary circuit at Rio de Janeiro's *international airport* that ran for literally only *two* races (it was run to promote the opening of Rio's new official racing track).

    · Ascari holds an annual 24h amateur touring car race
    · Mondello already showed up in Race Driver 3
    · Brno already showed up in Le Mans 24h (PS2/DC/PC game, not PSX/PC one)
    · Dijon Prenois already showed up in World Touring Cars (ToCA3, the PSX game)
    · Irwindale is the half-mile oval in WreckFest, it's absurdly obvious and they still dodged having to license it
    · El Jarama showed up in GP500 and the underrated Super Trucks
    · Eastern Creek (fuck Sydney) already appeared in many games including Moto Racer 3 and World Tour and all 3 Race Driver games
    · Outside of Cadwell Park and the truly unknown Mallory Park, every British circuit (I'm including Knockhill) is well-known because of the 3 ToCA games and the 3 Race Driver ones
    · SUGO appeared in the first 3 WorldSBK ones (the ones published by EA) and many many Japanese videogames such as the underrated Advan Racing
    · Rouen les Essarts is very well-known for being (incorrectly) included in Grand Prix Legends because the devs didn't want to license and hated that the Bugatti Circuit had hosted the 1967 French GP

Forza Motorsport 4 introducing the 2000s Indianapolis GP layout (as well as the oval Brickyard) stands out to me for some reason.
It's a great layout, deceptively difficult even though only a few turns (like A1 Ring). Wide corners allowing different lines for overtaking, the infamous section leading to the oval (but in reverse) and just the overall heritage and legacy of Indy... Including it in Forza 4 (along with many other F1 GP layouts) was a great move IMO.

Ruapuna Local here to give some added insight to the use of the track.
It currently is part of the Formula Regional Oceania calendar (fka Toyota Racing Series) and does find continued use in National series such as NZ Formula Ford, New Zealand GT86 Series, South Island Endurance Series, and Mazda RX8 Series. The track has hosted drivers such as Lance Stroll, Lando Norris, Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson when they partook in the Toyota Racing Series/Formula Regional Oceania on their path up to Formula 1, as the TRS is one of the few European "Winter Series" that pays out solid Super License points for the winners
The track on main day-to-day operating is functionally for club days and "test-and-tune" days, but does feature Drift days, a slot on the D1NZ series, as well as a few other more niche local series. It did also feature as part of the Trans-Tasman Trans-Am challenge this year pitting 8 Australian TA2 drivers against 8 New Zealand TA2 drivers. Ruapuna is also respected quite highly by big NZ Motorsport stars, including 3x Supercars Champion and current NASCAR Xfinity Driver Shane van Gisbergen saying it would have been his pick for the Supercars series return to New Zealand. The track itself is wildly out-dated facilities wise however, with very little actual permanent garages.

Curitiba, Puebla, Pau, Anderstorp, Porto, Valencia (Ricardo Tormo) and *Macau* are the main examples of the base game. It's actually beyond me how only the Race games & their successor Raceroom are the only games with Macau officially.
    Diving into the DLC will exponentially increase that number;
Marrakech (2010), Mid-Ohio, Chayka, Falkenbergs Motorbana, Gothenberg, Sturup, Knutstorp, Mantorp, Valer Bånen, Jyllandsringen and Poznan

In my opinion the most overlooked sort of racing circuits in racing games are airport circuits. Apart from Cleveland's inclusion in Automobilista 2 i can't think of any airport track in any modern racing game, which is an absolute shame as late eighties/early nineties DTM, late nineties super touring cars and of course, historic grand prix cars took to the airstrips and taxiways a lot!
Airport tracks i'd love to see represented in racing games would be: Diepholz, Lahr, Galeão, Edmonton (pre-2011), Linden Airport, Sebring (pre-1987), Silverstone (pre-1950), Zweibrücken, a return to Meigs Field and just to take a mickey a bit, Zeltweg.

Raceroom (R3E) really features quite a few obscure tracks like Bilster Berg, Circuit de Charade, Falkenberg Motorbana and Knutstorp Ring to name just a few. A few other tracks that I'd be curious to see in racing games : Val de Vienne and Nogaro in France, Zolder in Belgium, Almeria (the longest layout being 9km which makes it very interesting) and Parcmotor Castelloli (tracks with a crossover, my beloved) for spain, Grobnik in Croatia, ACR in Norway, Ahvenisto and Kimiring in Finland, Chaika in Ukraine (fun fact this one was in an obscure volvo game) and outside of Europe I'd say I'm yet to see an argentinian track in a game, cause there are plenty, like Buenos Aires or La Pedrera. I remember playing Toca Race Driver 3 on my DS (I still have the cartridge and it still works) and that one also had lots of unique tracks that you mentioned here. The primary focus of the game was DTM and V8 supercars so you have a good amount of tracks where both series drive on. Some interesting tracks to name are Noisring, Lausitzring, Oschersleben, Oran Park and Surfers Paradise.

But I never knew of that until 2022. I wish that they adds this for the next GRID game together with more some: Eurospeedway, Istanbul Park, Shanghai Circuit & Monaco.

Castle Combe, an obscure track in the UK only half an hour from my house, was featured in TOCA Race Driver 3. Its the only game I've seen it featured in aside from the mod for Assetto Corsa. It used to hold F3 and British GT races until the mid 00s, when the arsehole locals in their new builds complained about the noise and the track got such severe noise restrictions that F3/BGT couldn't return. It does still have one of the most popular club racing scenes in the UK, with its own championships for saloons, hatches, GTs and Formula Ford 1600s.

Man, Mondello and Dijon throw me back to the days when I played GT Legends, goated game.
Another hidden gem from that game is Anderstorp, and while it's not completely unknown irl, I'd say that when it comes to racing games it is, because afaik it's only been featured there and later down the line in Raceroom too.
Speaking of tracks I found in Simbin games that have later been featured in Raceroom, Macau and Pau-Ville are also up there, along with Porto which has been lost to time. Then there are also Curitiba, Tor Poznan and Puebla that are worth mentioning, afaik the former has been featured only in the Automobilista series after that.
    Okayama from iRacing is also worth mentioning imo, and just like the ones above, it's not really that unknown, but it's not been featured too often in racing games, same would go for Ledenon;
Vallelunga from Assetto Corsa too is an unrepresented race track, before that I've only seen it in Toca Race Driver 2 and that's it.
Speaking of Toca 2, it also had Mantorp Park, another great Swedish race track, and there are probably many more I forgot, but this has been a trip down memory lane, thank you for the great video! ^_^

At least it's being added to newer games, I hope Mantorp Park returns one day.

RaceRoom and the previous KW Studios games have many obscure racetracks included, mainly because the primary focus of those games was World Touring Car racing which in the 2000s and early 2010s visited many different tracks around the world. To be fair they still do, and that's one of the things I like most about the TCR World Tour and the late WTCC and WTCR championships!

This is the first video of yours I’ve ever seen, loved the detail and, as an ardent pedant, loved the lack of any historical inaccuracies - which would be so easy to do in a video of this scope!
My adolescent years were spent playing Toca Race Driver 1 - 3 and there were a few obscure circuits in there like the Vancouver Street Circuit, Mantorp Park and the pre-F1 layout of Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City - it was even the pre-CART/Champ Car layout without the first baseball-stadium bypass of the full Peraltada final turn. TI Circuit AIDA, Oran Park (before it was demolished ☹️) and the Canberra Street Circuit were also crammed in there.
I also played Race Pro years later which had a very similar feel to it to me. That game had oddities like Curitiba, Pau and Boavista. I miss the days of these obscure circuits and beautifully balanced cars to hoon around in them!

Great video!! I am a miscellaneous and trivia info junkie hehe Thanks a lot :)
By the way, Dijon-Prenois is found at TOCA World Touring Cars, and TOCA Race Driver 1.
And Sugo also appeared in TOCA World Touring Cars.
In my opinion, TOCA World Touring Cars has so many obscure circuits, being Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Dijon Prenois, Mexico City, Oulton Park + Snetterton, T1 Aida, Sugo, Vancouver and Watkins Glen.
As Spanish, I know well Jarama's circuit. Sadly, its safety is hard to be improved since there is a highway right to the main straight. And some flatheads built a neighbourhood decades after circuit was built, and neighbours complain about the noise so, even for track days, there are some low noise turns in which you can't go flat out.

I know it might be a bit obscure mentioning a random truck racing game from the early 2000s, but Super Trucks Racing has a whole slew of tracks I've not really seen in many other games.
Eurosuperspeedway, Nogaro, Alastaro, Zolder, Ricardo Tormo...even Jarama mentioned here is in it.
