- The world of Genshin Impact has a very unique take on its moons. One would expect there to be only one moon, but there are actually more than one moons in this game. It is tied to the spiral abyss, and the crafting table. How do they all link together, this question is still being speculated even today. At last, Paimon who is speculated to have forgotten her memory strengthens the idea of her being related to the seelie who fell in love with an outlander. She could be related, or she could be the seelie itself. Seelies were a race of ancient gods which once guided mankind, so it won't be a farfetched theory when Paimon's name is also from the demons of Ars Goetia, the same as Morax and Barbatos.
In one of her dialogues during the Shiki Taishou event, she said that there are stories where a person will regain their power when they recover their lost memory. It may be a foreshadowing of some sort. And who knows, once she recovers her memories, she might reveal her true form that of a god.
Imagine if she merge with all of the seelie to regain her OG form back and turn into an ancient god

Omg a while back I've actually seen a video with this theory and the fact that you're talking about it is incredible. Genshin's little details are just enough to find these things out, especially if 2 people have already made a video on it
U really believe this shit without any source from mihoyo or ingame, this guy didn't even give proofs.
Although i do believe him whenever there is proof like books ingame or cutscene details etc.
@@MisguidingWish all of the information this creator points out in the first half of the video are all facts directly stated ingame and in books. The second are theories for a reason, they are supposed to be a prediction of what the story might be based on evidences and hints dropped by the creators. If mihoyo directly states the story, it would become cannon but in this case, I believe it’s a well crafted theory that fits the world view and well supported by evidences currently given to us

Another sort of connection between Mondstadt and the moons is perhaps the sisters' names. They're all a kind of art form, with aria and canon being kinds of musical compositions and sonnet a kind of poem. This makes me think of bards. Speaking of which, Venti's elemental skill is called Skyward Sonnet. Considering how careful Genshin lore is choosing characters' names, it's interesting

I've always been wondering why its only Mondstadt and Liyue that has "moon" in their names but not on the other nations. There's only two similarity of these nations that i could think of; they where the last two nation that being ruled by the original archon, and that they were two nations that presumably located in the center of Teyvat continent. There perhaps more reasons to it and i would love to know more about Teyvat lore
I always did find it weird that Mondstadt was called that, for a city whose culture revolves so much around the wind.
Perhaps Morax and Barbatos know something about the two Moon sisters or maybe they are a reincarnation of theirs?

In the battle pass scene where the snake's darkness "devoured" the pearl (must be a representation of the white moon) one is kinda similar to our Philippine folklore - the Bakunawa (a humongous serpentine monster) that devours the moon.

I think the normal moon corpse we see is the corpse of Aria. I rmb there's a song name Dream Aria when it reaches night in the starting screen. Maybe Canon and Sonnet r the ones we see in the Abyss while Aria is the one in the normal world ?
I really appreciate videos like this because I don’t really dive into lore i’m not interested in. I like reading genshin lore but sometimes it’s boring to read a lot.

if u look carefully at the "we will be reunited" cutscene, it looks like the spiral abyss floors. so im not so confident with the two other moon sisters switching places. since they fought each other, i think that they wouldn't be changing places with each other again anymore. maybe in the future patches, we'll see another region with a moon at it?

That's just her personal space of consciousness. The design/lighting changes depending on her mood.

pause the video at 3:58 and then skip 5 sec to 4:3 you can see abyss is the place where the nation of khanria was present 500 years ago now it has turned into abyss after it was destroyed by celestia the remaining monsters turned into monsters of the abyss (kinda makes sense )
for anyone who needs it, syzygy meaning: comes from greek word syzygia (συζυγία: sih - zih - yee - ah) it means to live together, to have a partner in life, to be living with someone. from syzygia comes the word for partner in greek: syzygos (σύζυγος: sih - zih - yoh - s) syzygos is almost always used for someone youre married with while syzygia can be used generally for someone youre living with, not necessarily for someone youre both married and living with.
so when it says “Moment of Syzygy”…
it means moment of being with s/o u love, or moment of getting married or smth of the sort..?

There's 1 seelie who didn't shrink during the moon disaster. Andrius likes her voice and asking what song did she sang and she said that the song is seelie's nation song and *she make Andrius from a normal wolf to a God*. If she can give power it means it can take power too, Aether power and half of his memory has taken by the *unknown god*. Could it be the unknown God is the last seelie?

8 months later after sumeru update to debunk: no, unknown god isn't the seelie. That seelie became frnds with Queen Aranyani (greater lord rukkhedeveta) and scarlet king. Books mentioned she died before scarlet king who afterwards went crazy cz he was in love with her, i am speculating the seelie took her own life cz she didn't want another calamity to befall due to the seelie curse . Also its heavily implied that seelie was Goddes of flowers.
the lore of this game is so strong to the point even a pay to win (welkin) system has lore

You should do update videos on old theories to see if they have come true/need updates/or disproven after a major story update, that way we can keep track of them
So I've got a wild theory
I think that orignally all three moons were in the sky of what we now call the abyss, or under the "real" sky. The moon we see should be under a fake sky. But I thought it was strange that the one we see is way smaller. So I think the gosds of celestia took one of the moons, build celestia and the fake moon out of its body. Now only two moons remain in the abyss.
Another theory is that Paimon is one of the three moon sisters, since she has triquetras all over her outfit (symbolise a trinity ike the moons) she also floats like a seelie, has a scarf like a seelie and she looks like the girl from the blessing of the welkin moon
So basically the corpses of the Moon Sisters can be found
One in Teyvat and two in Spiral Abyss
We don't know which one is Aria, Sonnet, and Canon
On the three moons on the crafting table’s menu, there are specific symbols, and those same symbols are seen with the abyss. Just thinking
it's the Teyvat's alphabet i assumed, the characters are similar and can be translated to english letters.

sumeru - probably derived from one of the first ancient civilizations "Sumer" which means "land of the civilized kings" : Sumer was one of first civilizations, advanced and Sumeru is nation of "wisdom"
fontaine - spring/ well/ fountain : hydro nation
natlan: place of abundance/ place of glory: Latin American roots, Natlan is the nation of war so obviously "glory" after winning
snezhnaya: everwinter, snowy : cryo nation
khaenriah: betrayal of wind? this is what it came from in Arabic. might be tied to mondstadt and that they "betrayed" something by ruling without a god? Might be about the God of Time, because the God of Time was in Mondstadt (wind city) and seems to be tied to a lot of lore

after reading your notes, i just remembered that the time in abyss is different than teyvat. If a god dies, it causes an effect to the surrounding depends on the power of the god, take sal terae for example, god of salt died there and the place and people turned into salt. So why is abyss’s time different from teyvat? God of time is killed there and i speculate it’s venti’s doings because 1) the spiral abyss gate is close to mondstadt and 2) according to your notes, khaenri’ah means betrayal by the wind

Also, i have a theory. Because the Welkin Blessing thingy looks kinda like paimon, i reckon that that is actually paimon but looks kinda different (?) And since the three moon background is behind her i suppose she is actually one of the Moon sisters. Just an opinion that i wanted to share :3

Paimon being one of the moon sisters is a really cool idea, and then the unknown goddess could be the red moon we see when Lumine is running, also because I like the theory where the abyss sibling made Kenriah but was destroyed cuz she not an archin and then the unkown goddess took thebabuss sibling because she was the red moon who was behind this

aria is most definitely the moon in teyvats sky. first of all, aria has a lot of meanings, but the italian meaning is “song” or “melody”. second of all, in genshin impacts loading screen during evening/night, the teyvat moon is seen clearly in the top left corner. meanwhile, an enchanting melody plays in the background, and the voice of a woman can be heard harmonizing along with the music. this melody’s official title in the genshin ost is “dream aria”. i also believe that aria is the lady on the welkin moon pass. this is because welkin can be translated to “sky” or “heaven”, so “sky moon” or “heavenly moon”, which fits the description of aria as the moon in the sky of teyvat.

The genshin loading screen theme is called "Dream Aria". Could it perhaps be related to Aria, one of the moon sisters?
Also on the back of lumine's dress there is a waning moon design like Welkin's flipped and connected above the primo shaped design
4:18 You said that the eyes of the snake represent the two moons, which leads me to believe that that story cutscene may not be a literal one but more of a metaphorical one. If they eyes represent the two moons then I don't think there literally was a snake with moons for eyes. What else could we infer as a metaphor form the cutscene?
The snake could have represented The Primordial One who defeated the seven Dragon Sovereigns. Perhaps when they first appeared, they caused the tragedy of the Three Moon Sisters and wiped out the history of the Seelie civilization to take over Teyvat as the new ruler. Records about Teyvat's real history has been kept in Enkanomiya/Byakuyakoku, a nation sunked by them (now Celestia at this point) into the sea. But if the three moon sisters were represented alongside the snake, that means the Genesis Pearl the twins were seeking would be the full moon, Aria. So the princess and prince's identity becomes even more unclear.
@@aureliaavalon Whatever the case, Celestia stole land and wiped out its population. If we were to revive those who have long died due to Celestia, then they would be angry. They would want their Teyvat back, but most importantly they would want vengeance. Imagine the kind of power they could bless Traveler with. What if Paimon is related to the beings of Old Teyvat and is trying to reclaim her world.

also if you open the game during night time, you'll hear a girl's voice singing/humming in the loading screen with the appearance of the moon, you won't hear the singing during the Day or the afternoon, it just happens during night time 🤯 the details
my theory is paimon is their child (like soul fragments not biologicaly), god of time is one of paimon parents
and why they erased her memory is still unknown
but im sure its to help traveler to some point of the journey, and i think traveler is trapped in a time loop, whichever who woke up first start a journey to find the other twin(became the MC) but in the process they found the truth of this "world" and then they end up failing to help the other one which is make them now the abyss traveler
then the other once the "abyss traveler" now became the MC that feel "just woke up from the unknown god" then they somehow find paimon "again" to help them start the journey and so on and so on vice versa
and the loop continues until they find the right choice at the end (just like what dainsleif said in the trailer)
I've seen a clip where when the moon on Teyvat rotate and pass the Celestia, the moon was in front of the floating castle and not behind it. I don't know if this is an oversighted from miHoYo side or not but food for thoughts.
I think it was an oversight by mihoyo. Coz apparently, it has been "fixed". Coz the current celestia model is a 2D version.
Maybe the welkin moon is the teyvat one. It makes sense with the theory of two moons blessing us twice a month on the abyss

I have a speculation, later in the story, the spiral abyss will have more "floors" and there will be another "section" for the player to battle and win more rewards in, but there might be a secret lore within that. when the 3rd part of spiral abyss is released, the section might be something that has to do with K'haenriah, as in the "We Will Be Reunited" Teaser. the 3rd sister's corpse there, as we see. But what if in the abyss, when players get to the 3rd section, the moon will be red and we will be in K'haenriah. Im not saying that it IS K'haenriah, im saying maybe something happened in the leylines, where the memories they held of K'haenriah got leaked in to the abyss and the memories of the leylines that held of K'haenriah... are now in the abyss.

Maybe we are the Outlander Paimon fell I love with.
My theory: The siblings were sent to tevyat and at different places, they both woke up at the same time. Paimon met us and our other twin was lonely so that twin decided to search all the places in tevyat.
Paimon fell in love with us and the denial happens as explained in the video.
Our memories were eraised about Paimon and Paimon's memories were 'weakened' no completely eraised.
As the traveler says "until I met u 2 months ago" Maybe the travler only remembers about her/his brother/sister and 2 months of meeting Paimon.
Paimon asked all about us because she didn't want to sound sus. (I'm sure out other twin was not able to explore the whole tevyat and overseas, including Fortaine and Sumeru and all in 2 months)

I do believe that there were three moons in Teyvat, but I don't think they were represented as persons. Just like in real life people like create myths about the Sun and the Moon
The goddess from welkin moon is similar to omnipresence statue in inazuma. You can't change my mind
Oh yeah this reminds me of the Statue of The Omnipresent God in Inazuma. I think the statue took form of a being/god that isn't part of Inazuma. The statue's hairstyle is similar to the welkin moon girl. But the welkin moon girl and the statue are not the only one who shared that hairstyle, because Paimon also has it.
Let's breakdown the statue's name shall we. The Statue of The Omnipresent God. So the being whom the statue took the form is The Omnipresent God. Omnipresent is like to be present anywhere and everywhere. And do u know who's always present everywhere we go? who's always with us during our adventures? Yep it's none other than the emergency food. The statue also shared a similar hairstyle with her. Well idk actually who's The Omnipresent God but I hope u'll make a theory about her soon
In a prophecy about Khaenri'ah, it says, "The Eclipse will be swallowed by the Crimson Moon." It can be assumed that the Eclipse stands for the Eclipse Dynasty in Khaenri'ah, and the Crimson Moon stands for Celestia, but why the Crimson Moon is significant to Celestia is unknown to me.
Edit: Also it's possible that the Seelie's lover was Pierro, since he's already immortal with no mention of a curse or spell placed upon him. Though, this still leaves the question of who the Seelie is...

i wonder if the moon sisters represent beginnings/birth, life, and endings/death. we most likely have info on 2.life and birth, which could be most likely as goddess of flowers/birth and god of time/life. The unknown god could be the last one representing endings such as ending the travelers journey. Since the moon sistets ate said to be dead which the 2 sisters no longer have a apperance as another form, such as the moon sisters fell and became lesser deity's with no such memory. Paimon could be the fallen deity of endings or death

Actually, I was just thinking the other day if the word "sumeru" has any meaning in arabic, since monstadt has a meaning in german and liyue has a meaning in mandarin, but I wasn't sure. Thinking about it now after watching this video, the word "samar" means the act of telling stories in the night. Going to a dictionary though, one of the meanings of this word means "moonlight", and is pronounced "al-samaru". I couldn't think about it before because no one actually uses this word lol.

Omg Aria is one of the moon sister's name and in chinese it means : "a piece of music in an opera sung by one person. 咏叹调；独唱曲"
So it looks like when we are going to enter the game that moon is Aria moon who sings the melody at the beginning

Idk much of the lore but I’m wondering about a purple moon after seeing what looked like one fly across the sky when I decided to glide from the top of the statue in dragon spine to the edge of the cliff that I could reach of dadua gorge or cape cliff or whatever that normal region is. Like yes I was moving out of a frost zone but the sudden sky movement and a ball of purple was weird.
