    MUSIC
I sometimes and use 50’s/early 60’s recordings taken from acetates with no identifying artist or song name. I have unfortunately used music after seeking permission from an artist and this music has now been released causing me issues, this means that from time to time some of my videos will have to be edited and reloaded. This seems crazy to me as I’m actually generating a fan base for artists to only then be penalised for promoting them. If you are a music artist producing surf or rock and roll music and would like me to use your music then please contact me as I can give you free air time in front of a guaranteed audience. I also use music from the royalty free catalogue from youtube. I also plan to produce my own channel music.

I've used a soft edge by rolling back the masking paper but that's a larger scale. This soft edge with masking tape will come in handy. Thank you for sharing.

Trev - New Zealand Railway Signals Engineer by day - machine shop junkie by night. First watched one of your videos because I had a bit of sheetmetal to fold. Thought who is this guy? Fell in love with the channel and cant wait to see the van complete. Your style and passion is fascinating even though you cover stuff I dont really need to know!

Good morning Trev, more tricks, tips and techniques for great paint results. You sure do get professional results without the huge investment in equipment. So many people are convinced that if you don't have a half million dollars worth of equipment, you aren't any good. You are living proof it is all about talent. Take care.

We have a tool in America called The E-Z Edger that does the tape trick for you. It is very consistent and you can set the amount of fold over to whatever you like. Cost like $70 and I feel it's well worth it.

Hi Trev - that is a neat trick which I will use soon as I have some touch ups to do on my Ford Bantam pick-up which I completely resprayed last December. It looks great but I helped a mate move building materials and it collected a few scratches - inevitably! - some of which went though the paint!
I was thinking of getting an airbrush for the job but this will do it!
    Love your channel!

that soft edge method can also be used in double layer if you want to do a base coat the pull one layer off with the soft edge for the clear a few mill back so you get the complete base edge covered, esp useful for waterborne bases
You can also get curved masking tape for going around corners, i use that to make my soft edge runs when doing inside/outside corners

Thank you the effort, tutorial and explanation. There must be a lot of camera work, lights then computer software editing. Putting food on the table for 6, with a work at home wife, always left me exhausted after long days at a Buick dealership on flat-rate working from 7AM till 9PM and a short drive home. This is what a man does sometimes plus showing us learned skills. I did not ever work in our body shop but have painted 5 vehicles and half of an aluminum boat for a friend. Know, enjoy some down time after a job well done!

i learned a new term "door shut". here in the US we'd call it "door jamb". also i liked seeing how to fold that tape and that turning the roll would give you a wider or narrower fold. way cool.

Brilliant tips and info again. When you masked up with the blue, I thought a blue pinstripe round the panel would look good, but then when you took it off, I changed my mind LOL. Your next video subject is spot on for me, I can't work out how to use mixing cups-I've watched videos, but the cups I get aint the same as the American ones. And I use a 100ml small gun for most of the jobs I do, so your next vid will be great.

Great work, we’ve all been there. I find painting 2k dg in less than perfect conditions benefit from being thinned 2 or 3 times more than I normally would if I was painting in a booth. The trick is to turn the fluid needle in and put thinner layers on, build it up with 3,4 or maybe 5 coats to get depth. This way there’s no risk of getting runs, trying to flow paint in the cold is why it gets overloaded! All the best, from the Forest of Dean

Started in body shops at 21, 44 now and every shop loved my ocd masking skills, prep work is essential to me, put little more time in goes so far for quality, the hinge section of doors on the car has pissed me a few times or some jambs are frustrating.

Glad to see you did the masking hints and tip's. How about a talk about dealing with gloss levels as I work with paint that can be 0% to 100% gloss and cannot simply use fast cut plus like you did as my of example 20% gloss paint would end up 100% in the area you polish ?
