    I talked to friend of mine that works for Sig in NH. They just imported these. Mine is in .40. I love the obscure guns too. I also have a HK P9S!

      Nice! The P9S is magical. I'm curious as to who actually manufactured these--Sig Sauer in Eckerforde or... Mauser in Oberndorf? Couldn't find anything definitive, either way

      @@HipsterTactical: I've seen some examples that had the written "frame made in Germany" so I think that barrels and slides were all made in the USA by SIG Arms.

      Thanks, Frank! Yeah, I thought I was gonna be "the cool guy" and have one of a few videos on this gun... but two posted (on this gun) in the last month. But thanks for the comment, as usual. Hope you're doing well.

    I was looking at these hard about a year ago. U get a small mention in my little vid lookover a p5 this week

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  Год назад +1

      Nice! Thanks, man! I appreciate it. And I loooove the P5. If they weren't so damn expensive and rare I'd shoot mine more. One of the best shooting 9mms I've experienced. The Mauser M2 is cool... but... I tend to think the Beretta rotating guns are better, in general. Thanks for the comment, my friend!

  • @dominicsignorile9511

    Try the 45 ACP. It’s a Mauser design. The more you shoot it the more accurate it gets. Don’t over lubricate the firing pin, it will ‘hydraulic lock’ and won’t ignite the primer. It’s a ‘10’! 🤙

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I kinda wish I had tried the .45 instead. The seems, maybe, better suited to .45. Maybe one day. Thanks for the comment!

      It’s a long story but I had a 45. I sold my 4” GP 100 to a friend and switched to fixed sights with the M2. Like you said, the grips a little large and it’s heavy. You can make a 10mm nail gun out of the 357/40. Vest pocket that one!

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  Год назад +2

      Thanks, man! I haven't tried any of the Grand Powers, but they're definitely on my radar--specifically the P11 subcompact. I believe it's a little smaller than a PX4? There was a beat-to-shit K100 (full-size GP) at a local shop here recently... now I wanna go see if it's still there :)

    You say Mauser and I think C96 Broom Handle, WWI world. The rotating barrel is an old design like CZ 24/27. Kool ✌️

    The barrel shouldn't rotate until after the bullet has left the barrel so it shouldn't effect how it interfaces with the rifling. It probably has more to do with the caliber and the action's cycle time and the reinforcement of the frame and ergonomics.

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  Год назад +2

      Good point. On my PX4 review, someone else brought up the idea of "counter rotation" relative to the bore. To my layman's logic, it seemed to make sense... but you may be right: same deal with a tilt barrel--it doesn't tilt until after the bullet leaves. And definitely cycle time, I think, plays a big role in how one experiences recoil. Thanks for chiming in!

      🤔

    • @caribbean7667
      @caribbean7667 Месяц назад +2

      I have to disagree. There were some delayed blowback "rotating barrel" pistols where the rotation of the barrel was opposite to the rotation of the bullet. That helped to delay the separation of the breech from the chamber and keep the pressure on the safe side. In my opinion Beretta made a deliberate choice to adopt that solution in order to make sure the action remains closed even with the hottest rounds. Infact the Px4 has probably the longer split action time between shots. It takes "alot" more time than a tilting action pistol to open and close the action during firing.

    I owned one in 45acp. She was fat. I have XL hands so I found it comfortable. Field stripping sucked. I would keep a plastic pen cap to remove the slide stop for take down. I think sales were poor because it was a thick gun and had many safety features. If i remember correctly, I think it was marketed as the worlds safest pistol? People hate safe. But it was a pleasant shooter even with 45 +P and it was insanely accurate. Very slick slide action.

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  21 день назад +1

      @@shootsouthpaw7771 I kinda wish I would have tried one in .45-I tend to think the .40 version was kind of an afterthought. All they did weld spacers in the mags and tighten the bore. Glad you liked yours. If I ever come across one again in .45 for a decent price… I might bite. Thanks for the comment!

    It just hit me! Many new gun owners don’t know what a hipster gun is. A video on that would be great. Is a striker fire pistol hipster? I like your attitude but the channel needs a distinction. How about a hipster score. Not about how great the pistol 🔫 is but how hipster it is. You discuss the parts of the gun and give each part a hipster score. Show us the ultimate hipster pistol!

      Basically any older gun is a hipster gun. With obsolete revolvers being fuddish-hipster and would fit into the hipster umbrella term. Hipsters by definition love anything vintage.

      Nice! We're everywhere! Just curious--is the SIG P210/P49 still issued/used in Denmark? I might join the police just to carry one of those :) Thanks for the comment!

    • @BobcatSchneidermann
      @BobcatSchneidermann 4 месяца назад

      @@HipsterTactical P/49 was actually never issued to the police - but it was issued to all branches of our military until rather recently. We started phasing it out in 2018 as the main service pistol, and now we issue the SIG P320 instead, very much like the Americans. Before that we also issued a couple of other pistols along with the old Neuhausen, among them the full sized HK USP9 for the military police (since the Danish police issues the USP9 Compact, and almost every single military police officer ends up joining the regular police afterwards, so it makes sense to train them on the same platform from the start) and the SIG P230 for naval officers on the royal yacht.
      As civilian pistol shooters, we are limited to handguns with a total length of at least 21 cm, and chambered for cartridges of calibers no wider than 9mm, except for .40 S&W, .44 Special (NOT Magnum!), .45 ACP and .45 Colt. That means I can never own a S&W 1076, which is my dream... oh well - at least I have a Sphinx AT2000 S!

    Ample moly grease lubricant needed on those rotating lug barrels. Major impact loading metal to metal mechanism. I'd take the M2 in .45acp. Shame is out of production .

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  Год назад

      Yeah, I often wonder if I would have had a better experience with a .45 example; after all, that's the original design of the M2. I tried moly grease in my .45 Cougar... I feel like it sorta made the action sluggish. But I probably used too much. I've used only oil in my PX4 and it's never given any trouble. Thanks for the comment, man!

      I think this Mauser failed to achieve romantic heritage status of the legendary war rifle Mausers and C96 Broomhandle. Entertaining anyway. I enjoy rewatching many of your reviews just to see what I might be missing in exotic chunky European pistols. I have Zero interest in .40 cal.
