Anyone else binge watch relaxer day videos before they do their hair? 🤣
Edit: it’s about that time again y’all and I’m back! 😁 You’d honestly think I’d know what I’m doing since I’ve been doing it at home for years but just gotta make sure I’m thorough each time haha. I’m glad to see we’re all on the same page 😅😅
Wishing you all a happy and healthy relaxer! 💕💕
Binge watch then wishing you was confident enough to relax your hair but chicken out everytime so you watch a relaxer disaster video just to confirm your right to be apprehensive 🤣
Me rn🤣 been a natural for 4 years and I low key wanna relax my hair in a healthy way now😭
Me, I’m ready to do it.
Yep me.. two years natural and I’m going for it soon
Me right now while at work 😂😂
Who could give this a thumbs down 👀😒 as a licensed professional she did an amazing job!!!
Ha! Of course you come through wreckin! Love you. 😂 and thank you. ☺️
Periodtt sis!!! 😘😘😘
Totally agree!
People that want her to be natural lol
@@sunshinejewel2952 lol story of my life.
I love how Hairlicious provides such a great template for a healthy relaxed day routine. She's the goat!
Yes @Hairlicious been dropping these relaxed hair gems.... from castor oil challenges, to moisturize and seal to the pre-parting relaxer method...
No such thing as healthy relaxed hair. It's chemically fried.
@@user-dv3kq3rm4h Tell that to the women who hair still grows long and thriving. Natural dont automatically mean healthy either. When you don't take care of your hair, there will be damage regardless to the state it's in. Hair care has changed a lot, let's act like it shall we?
She is!! I think I saw her video about a month ago and here we see another that follows! I love it when people omit the originator as if they came up with the idea. Lol 😐
@@roxiemoxie3854 I've seen Hairlicious' methods and routines replicated all over social for years. Everytime I see it, I just think more and more that she's THE influencer for relaxed hair influencers. They, just like us, learn from her and replicate what they see. Which is why Hairlicious is one of very few relaxed hair influencers I'm subbed to, but it's fun to see what others are saying every now and again 🤷🏿♀️
I was natural for 5 years.
I am so happy to start relaxing my hair.
But this time around I am doing it the right way
Oh wow, I’m 5 years natural also and was thinking the same thing, I know how to do relaxed the right way this time
I’m “natural” but I love any hair vid that’s educational! Can I just say thank you for taking the time to replicate you’re process. You really went all in and I feel like most RUclipsrs would’ve explained the footage was lost, what they did, and called it a day. I’m sure this really helped someone relaxing at home 😊.
Thanks. I was disappointed when I erased it but I thought a replication would suffice. Its good to see it was still helpful. ☺️

Some of these comments did not pass the vibe check DISCLAIMER: there is some relaxing of the hair in this video if u do not agree with this u don’t have to watch the video simple don’t click or just click off (idk why u here anyways if u don’t like this stuff lmao) and stop coming in here spreading ya hate for no damn reason act like y’all opinions will change what she does with herself. Girl thank you for this information since the natural community has flourished I haven’t really seen much educational videos on relaxing I need some help with mines I just went back from being natural for 5 years I just couldn’t do it anymore! Needed something new.
Right?! It’s her hair she can choose to do whatever she chooses to with it. People really lack any sense at all nowadays..
You’re welcome. You’re absolutely right. There weren’t a lot of relaxed hair RUclipsrs for a long time after the Natural Hair Movement. Since I’ve started my channel I’ve heard ALOT of people say they’re ready to go back.
@@Rhythmofemotion all of you need to acknowledge the size of her platform, if she hates her hair and wants to ruin it, that’s fine. But now hundreds of people are going to butcher their hair because she did
@@soulaanlioness But, her hair isn't butchered though obviously. Her platform size weather it grows or shrinks, im sure these videos will still thrive. She's showing her methods so you DON'T butcher a relaxer, which can be done properly and yield great results with proper care. Must really burn some of y'all up when y'all see long, thick, relaxed/texlaxed hair. No crazy thinning, not patches of hair missing, no breakage, all the things that can also happen with natural hair too when not taken care of. All women should do research on what to do with their hair before doing it, it's common sense. She's not going to stop relaxing and neither are the women whoever decide to, the end.
@@nenebrat2389 relaxing your hair is rooted in self hate and doing it publicly on purpose is just promoting self hate. Relax ruin your curl pattern and texture permanently. And repairing your hair after that is nearly impossible, and a ton more work than taking care of natural, never permed hair, which is everyone’s excuse as to why they perm their hair. Looking white isn’t everything
I’m seriously so happy I watched this because I’ve been natural for over 10 years and I’m over it‼️
Don’t judge me judge ya mamma lol
Ha! My video “Relaxer Update: Why I won’t go Natural” dabbles in that. Many have been natural for a decade and realize they’re not seeing the results they thought they would.
@@kristenstikes
I love my curls don’t get me wrong I just can’t stand spending 45min-1hr or longer doing my hair just to get ready‼️ so I’ve been wearing box braids for some time and I can only wear them for like 2-3weeks cause my hair reverts back sooo quick, plus all the hair products LORDT. I know how to work and deal with my natural hair but the creamy crack going back.
@@kaylabbones3281 do whatever works for you
😂😂😂
Been natural for 3 years and going back to a relaxer tomorrow. This video is very helpful 😊
Me too!
This is so smart!!! So efficient. I tried a lye relaxer for the first time and had a lovely experience. No burns at all. Matter of fact, the no-lye relaxers used to burn my scalp so much. The ORS lye relaxer is my go-to moving forward because it does my hair great. Thanks for the tips. God bless you.
I’m actually happy there are more videos like this on RUclips. When I first started self relaxing many years ago, I didn’t know half the shit about relaxers and how to properly apply AND maintain them like I do now.
3 years ago I had to do a big chop because I wanted to go natural for a year...(I felt pressured by my sister and gave in.) and surprise surprise my hair fell out because I didn’t have a modicum of knowledge when it came to my natural hair. By the end of the year I felt like a bald headed Ho and I walked into my stylist’s shop on the verge of tears and told him to cut it all off and relax it again 🥲
Long story short, he gave me some excellent advice and told me my best bet will be to watch RUclips videos/tutorials because I’ll be destined to find someone with similar hair length, texture and porosity. And wouldn’t you know, he was right. I was able to regrow my relaxed hair past my shoulders and last year I only needed two relaxers instead of the four I normally go for.
In closing, I want to show you some love in your feed. This video was informative and I’m definitely gonna pre part and use oil to protect my scalp and strands instead of Vaseline. You and your hair are beautiful sis. Keep up the excellent work! 💜💜💜
I saw another lady twisting her hair too in order to make applying the relaxer easier. I will definitely be doing this too. Thanks for sharing, you hair looks amazing 💕
Hairlicious ? I tried it too ,its really helpful.
Yea I've been seeing this method lots lately. The thing is that we must remember that really one must know her hair to know what relaxer would be best. Cuz sum relaxers can be too harsh for one or someone else. I know I've tried Ors and my hair fell out both times. I've used Revlon back in the day in a giant professional bulk. My hair grew w that relaxer w lye.
Funny cause I did that last time I relaxed my hair a month ago; yet I had not seen this video or the one from Hairlicious (which I saw a few days ago). It made quite the difference for me as I self relaxe, my hair is mid-back, dyed, and after 4 months, my 4C roots were 3 inches long as some spot. So applying a relaxer within like 18 minutes used to be a nightmare. Honestly though, I usually leave it for way longer. But this last time, I didn’t have to go too much overboard. Well it wasn’t necessary, but I like to leave it on for a while.
So happy I just now went back to a relaxer after being natural for 4 years. Loving this technique 😊
….I love the pre-parting of the hair! It helps because I had an issue with my already relaxed hair falling on the relaxer. And twisting each part helps to keep those long strands out of the way! That’s so smart! 😉
I'd never relax my hair but these videos are so satisfying. Love the results
Ok..., I have everything ready, I'm going to put a relaxer in my hair today. I've been natural for 2 years, but going through pre menopause and sweating with natural hair is alot to deal with. New sub 🌻
Good luck! I hope you’ll enjoy the transition back to relaxers.
Here with you 😌relaxing tonight...health and love
Praise the Lord. Hairlicious is blessing us all. Well done 👍 for giving her the credit and well done 👍 yourself. Hallelujah Hallelujah...Amen to me too having blessed long hair like you and Hairlicious

I saw this method on a neutralizer shampoo I wonder if they got it from her and used it
I love how quickly you get the relaxer in and out. Beautiful results.
Thank you! 😍

I’m still working on mastering the skin part. 🥴 lol
@@kristenstikes Seems u got it down to a T to me..ur beautiful sis!
Thank you for the video! You have taught me some good tips about relaxing my own hair. You used techniques that were different and I'm going to adapt to them; excellent job!
You’re welcome and thank you.
Genius hack to twist hair first
This was a little less intimidating than Hairlicious so thank you for this....I'm gonna start doing my own relaxers at home to save money!
I love how I’m watching this and don’t have a relaxer
I’m glad you could still enjoy! ☺️
I went natural 2 years ago, but let me tell you my mother used to relax my hair all the time and now I see that she did it wrong 😂. Last time she relaxed my hair I actually lost all my edges.
Oh no. Yes user error has caused damage for a lot of us.
@@kristenstikes Yes, she actually used to pass the relaxer through my whole hair when it was time to relax my new growth. It thinned my hair out badly throughout the years. I dont mind being a natural, I love my curls now and I am embracing it. But it's good to see someone using it properly with healthy hair as well!
@@xXrockyiszhereXx I can’t even be mad at mom. That’s a really common mistake.
Same! Instead of just relaxing the new growth my mom would relax my whole head over and over again. No wonder my hair was sooo thin and damaged.
My mom did it wrong also she relaxed the whole strand lol
What a beautiful, healthy head of hair!!!
Live for these tutorials. I start mine in the front then head to the back , since that’s where it is sensitive. Next torch up I will neutralize my hair like that. Giving it the care ; Tlc that it needs
Just relaxed after 6 yrs natural!! I've always been good with relaxed hair but I'm more excited this time around learning even more new things to incorporate being relaxed again. Thank you doll...this was VERY helpful and your hair turned out so beautifully 💕!!! # New Subbie
Where can I find the bond rebuilder item plse?
Sending good vibes for your new hair journey. 😊 Thanks for subscribing. I’m using Olaplex 3 from Sephora.
I just relaxed after 3 years natural! I’m so happy ! Happy hair journey to you sis💕
I’ve ever seen anyone use this sectioning method, it’s genius! Awesome work, beautiful hair! 😁
It's from Hairlicious, check out her channel
The best and easiest technique for self relaxing.
Thank you.
Very nice video- I remember getting huge penny sized scabs from my relaxers and man was it bad. I had my first at 4 years old. I’m glad it works for you!
Oh no. 😫 thank you.
Best Ever Ralaxer video i everrrrr Seen..
Am now on the relaxing hair journey ..
And seeing this video give me alotttt of info on how to relax your hair in a more professional way plus protecting your edges and ends... thank you alot
This makes me want to go apply conditioner to my hair in the same exact way since I’m natural but loved this video 😭😂
🤣 Ikr. I’ve actually seen someone do that before though to ensure they saturated every strand. Not a bad idea lol
😂
When I was younger. I had relaxed hair. And my hair was always shedding and falling out. And never grew past shoulder length. And years later after going natural its because my mom would relax my hair as if it was a virgin relaxer. Putting the product on the root and shafts of my hair. Not just the new growth. Resulting in over processing my hair and causing it to break off.
My mom did this to me too one time. A lot of people make this mistake.
My mom was really great about the relaxers but she started taking me to a salon and things fell apart quickly. She convinced my mom that I needed to come in every 2-3 weeks. In less than a year, my hair went from mid back to chin length.
@@kiyasthriftycrafts wow. So sorry that happened. I hear so many horror stories.
😳 this is why alot of us do our own hair...my old beautician was doing this as well and he said it was not going to be damaged...😩😒...so I'm old school I just started back to doing my hair...I was 16 was and I just retouched it today...hope you have good results on your hair journey "more hair" my mom use to tell me that instead of saying thank you ✌🏽🖤 and blessings...you are not alone😘
I love the WHOLE process!!! 🥰
What the name of the oil used?. Definitely going to try this process
Wow...I love this video. I enjoyed your editing and commentary, I like your method I plan to use it once I go back to relaxers and your hair is beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Ms.KStikes.... I'm doing a touch up today & I like the braid method!!! Fantastic idea!😄💖🌟💖🌟💖😄
Works wonders. 😊
Hi! I went back to relaxing this March and I'm trying to make sure i take ccare of it very well. Thanks for doing this, i used this method on my sis and we noticed very little to no hair fall. Btw, you have a nice facial profile.
Awesome video! I will be perming my hair for the first time and am beyond nervous. I learned so much from this video so I feel a little better. Thanks! Any suggestions for helping with the anxiety??
@@surgedeb how did it go ? I’m planning on doing mine too. I want some texture left in it tho cause I like thick hair
I went natural because I was struggling with new growth. It was down my back with relaxer and I cut it since it was so much to manage. It’s like my hair started responding differently to relaxer and started to become damaged. I have 4c so I think if I did this process I would have kept relaxing 💙
I definitely learned some tips. I've been growing out a short cut for a year now
Girl you know ur stuff😃awesome!!!
Thank you. 🥰
The braiding method is genius! Thank you for this! #relaxedhairgang
You’re welcome. ☺️
Beautiful thick hair, love it!
This seems to be helpful. Am going to try it too
So I was relaxed , went natural ( 2 years) , now I want to relax again 😭 LMAO
I’ve seen a lot of people go back and forth lol
Your hair is beautiful and your routine is on point! Great video!
I'll try this and return with results!
Why do stylist not do this in the technique in the salon, this makes so much sense
its btr to do it urself in any case, you have more control
I like your method but with 4c hair, I'm natural now, I have to comb it through! Someone helped with my relaxer touch up once and refused to comb it through and my hair was half way relaxed and I had to lives with it for six-eight weeks until I could touch it up right! When I'm done growing it out and dealing with some more health issues I'm going back to relaxing!
I’m 16 weeks now and chilleee I’m not doing this not more ! I did double what i usually do every 8 weeks ! I can’t even wear my hair in any fashionable styles at this point ! Never again!
I love the fact you have been doing
U certainly did a good job! Oh ur hair still looks so healthy & thick! I love ur hair🥰👏!
Thank you! ☺️
Yes pre sections really helped me speed through my last relaxer.
They’re a game changer!
I REALLY appreciate your videos. Your video was the most informative video I've watched on what I need to know about permed hair than the six I've previously watched. Thank you!
You’re welcome. 😊 thanks for the encouragement.
So easy wish I knew about decades ago probably wouldn’t have gone natural
Your face reminds me of a merged version of Regine from Living Single and Skye Jackson 😍😍😍

If you're thinking about it and isn't sure? Heat train first. Its not damaging if its still long and healthy with no holes in the cuticle. You get straight hair, no chemicals and more body
BRILLIANT 🤩
I’m about to relax my wave nouveau permed hair. It’s been six ninth since I got the wave nouveau and I’m ready fir a change. My hair shed like crazy, my hair line vanished. Thankfully it come back now, but it was scary for a minute there. I documented my journey on my RUclips channel. I would highly not recommend the wave nouveau curly perm.
I “relaxed” my hair at home today for the first time and it didn’t budget 😩 ever so slightly softer but not relaxed at all. I can’t tell what I did wrong. I need to do some research and try again in a few weeks

@@aamiri9683 annoying right! I think from now on I’m sticking to the salons, although, they are closed...
@Jade Rose what steps did you use? I'd like to help if I can...been relaxing my own hair for 20+ years.
@@apoetsmile3956 yeah sure! Thanks 😊 ORS no lye relaxer - I mixed that activator in until my hand was gonna fall off (was nicely mixed). I sectioned hair, I did the front, my friend did the back, timed it for 15mins, started with the crown, went into the sections then the edges. We finished at 12mins and started smoothing then rinsed out around 18mins as per the instructions for “normal hair” I really don’t know what went wrong. Maybe the smoothing wasn’t good enough
I used to get lazy and not section but if you attest how your hair with heat or chunky braids days before it is easier and like you said I can relax my hair is less then 5 mins let it sit for 3 and rinse . Just to soften and stretch but keeps some texture for thickness❤️ it’s worth the extra steps in the long run no pint in growing long relax hair just to have to cut it off from damage we could have prevented
Your hair is beautiful...thick luscious hair 😍😍😍
Thank you. I try to keep it as healthy as possible.
Your hair is beautiful. Love the improvisation with the conditioner. Thanks for sharing 😊
I’m so glad an IG follower suggested it. You’re welcome.
When I was relaxed I used to use conditioner as my barrier.
Can I ask if you're natural why you came to this channel? If you keep watching this content do you think you might evetually get tempted to relax again?
Yes I’ve heard of that too. I need to try it.
What did you use for your bond rebuilder?
Sorry! 2 more questions- 1. Did you follow up with a moisturizing/hydrating conditioner after your protein treatment? 2. The bond rebuilder , is that normally done before or after neutralizing shampoo wash is done?
You’re fine. ☺️
1. I did not follow up with a moisturizing conditioner bc ORS Hair Mayo isn’t that harsh. I am familiar with the practice you’re referring to and occasionally do that with heavier protein treatments.
2. A bond rebuilder can used before any wash on a normal wash day. In this case it’s used after neutralizing bc you want to be sure to got the relaxer out first.
I have only ever used the no lye formulas. Even with this brand when I was relaxed. My hair always came out really nice though. If I ever decide to go back, I would only use this brand again.
Your hair is beautiful.
New growth looks healthy. We can see some streched curls.
your hair look so gorgeous
Thank you.
I will definitely be doing that pre-parting
Enjoy. It’s saved me so much time!
By the time I finish all of this there will be more new growth lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
Had I seen these videos 3 years ago I would have never went natural, my relaxed hair wasn't damaged but I wasn't seeing the length like I use to when past my shoulder which was frustrating.
A lot of people reach out to me and say that. Had they known how to take care of their relaxed hair, they wouldn’t have gone natural. You are not alone! I know the frustration.
It’s the pre sections for me
Thanks good information!!!
Heyyy. New subbie here🤗 I just did my second relaxer yesterday after a 7 month stretch. I didn't want to go to a a salon cause my first relaxer came out too bone straight and I really wanted to leave more texture. But I was panicking while I was relaxing my hair and I feel like I may not have completely rinsed out all the relaxer. I did about 5 rinses but the shampoo was still kinda pinkish and I ran out of it. Do you think my hair will start fall out? Your response will be really appreciated 😊
Hi. Breakage is a possibility if you leave relaxer on too long or don’t rinse it out. I would check with a stylist on what treatments would be best to repair hair after leaving a relaxer in it. I’ve had a lot of mishaps but I haven’t done that one before.
This happened 2 me b4. I lost sum hair where the relaxer didnt washout! My hair was damaged. I ended up big chopping. That was in 2017. My hair took a few yrs to recover completely. My hair is healed and very nourished now and my curl pattern is a true delight! I'm natural every since. But, ur hair could respond differently of course. I wish u well!
Thanks for this excellent content.
You’re so welcome.
I didn’t know the ors aloe shampoo was a neutralizing shampoo
Yep. It can be either clarifying or neutralizing. It’s on the back of the label. The ingredients of the Creamy Aloe Shampoo and their Neutralizing shampoo are nearly identical.
How long do you keep relaxer on your head? Sorry if I missed it
You’re okay. About 15 min typically. I could get to 20 but never past that for me.
@@kristenstikes thank you so much 💓. Your hair came out beautiful 😍
I love adding an egg to the hair mayo
Ikr. Idk why the instructions don’t say that anymore.
Did you put it directly onto the scalp first, because you shouldn't. You usually should apply to the new growth first and and then apply directly to scalp after first application is applied. Looks good tho
I use a Kroger bag too!
Got to! A shower cap just doesn’t feel right lol
Just being really am tired of my natural hair it breaks and very dissapointing i don't know how people do it cause my hair isn't grateful at all and am so tired
“My hair isn’t grateful at all”😭😂 that’s how it be feeling sometimes
My hair needs a real er so bad that the previously relaxed hair feels the same as my not relaxed hair
😮
Judging from your hair you seem to know what your doing!!!
I do the same with my protein conditioner on relaxer day
New subscriber here! this video has been so helpful!
☺️ Thanks for joining me on my journey.
Hey!! New subscriber right here! 🤎I relaxed my natural hair for the first time in 5 years. I use a no-lye version of ORS Olive oil but I want to change to the lye relaxer version of it.
Will it cause breakage if I only apply to the roots??
70 haters i see wit they thumbs down
lol exactly.
Those twist got tangled and washing my relaxer out was a horror movie watching my hair break off from the tangled knots at the ends with wet thin fresh relax hair, 😱😱😱😱😭😭
Sorry to hear that. I untwist them before rinsing or while rinsing the relaxer out. They also aren’t twisted very tight. I’ve never experienced tangles.
@@kristenstikes ohh 😂😂
