    In my 60’s and have been both natural and relaxed for decades as I do whatever works best at that time in my life. Today I’m relaxed. Never worn wigs, weaves, braids etc in my life. I wear my wear out daily except for the occasional bun. It works for me! At this age I have to enjoy it now. I save nothing for later or a special occasion. Every day is a special occasion because I woke up. 👍🏾. Great tips!

    Thanks so much for sharing with us Val, I have been relaxed for years. There are so many videos for natural hair but very few for relaxed hair that we can relate to. I enjoyed my natural hair journey, but with everything going on in the world I found I just didn't have the mental or physical energy to keep up the lengthy routine I had in place. My hair has become more and more gray but along with my hair growing longer, my hair along my crown is becoming very thin. Could be due to health reasons or vitamin deficiencies. The only time heat touches my hair is during retouches but I’m thinking of foregoing both blow drying and flat ironing my next visit to see if it’ll make a difference; will opt to air dry instead.

    So I used a Lye relaxer for the first time today, I love it. I have fine hair but my middle gets real thick when my new growth comes in. When I was natural back in 2019 to 2020, my hair grew but not pass my shoulders. Once I started relaxing every 3 months or longer in 2020, my hair is now almost arm pit length. I deep condition like crazy and wash my hair weekly. I use a hair bond, not Olaplex, I can't think of the name right now, I went blank, lol, but Ulta sells it, that helped my hair with the growth as well. I drink plenty of Core water as well. I love your tips.

    Spot on about lye relaxers being better for hair, harsher on scalp. I've been on lye for 20 years. My hair is mid back, and that's because I cut it to keep it that length.

    Yeah … I feel you on the double heat. I have a blow dryer & a flat iron but usually when I do my weekly washing and conditioning.. I usually blow dry my hair then put my hair in a loose bun or ponytail… I have a $200 flat iron & I barely use it. I don’t see the need plus blow drying AND flat ironing that’s too much work… also I workout a lot so ain’t no point in doing all of that when I workout 5x per week 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @mrsx7944
      @mrsx7944 5 месяцев назад

      I wish I didn't need to do both but blow drying just doesn't cut it. Especially if I'm stretching. Buy using heat protectant (blow dry serum) has helped.

    After using the deep conditioner with the oil, do you rinse afterwards or do you have to shampoo the hair again to get the oil+deep conditioner mixture out of the hair?

    I thought I was the only one that didn’t do hot oil treatments. I feel oils are more beneficial when I add them to my deep conditioner. Also once my hair got longer I could no longer use the sink either because it would go down the drain and it was a lot of work to wash in the sink

    I have to condition before deep conditioning since they don't tend to have enough slip to comb my hair out. I actually like to condition, detangle, and add my deep conditioner on top since I feel like deep conditioners can cause tangles even after combing it. To make sure the deep conditioner works as well as possible I keep like with like (aussie 3 min miracle on top of aussie moist, shea moisture over shea moisture or some other botanical silicone free conditioner, trader joes hair mask with the tea tree tingle, etc)
