  • My relaxer day routine for healthier relaxed hair!
Hey girl, thank you for tuning in! My relaxer day routine is officially here. I’m so excited because this has been highly requested by you guys. In today’s video, I share with you my entire relaxer touch-up process from start to finish. Usually I trim my ends every relaxer with my stylist. I don’t self-trim. I’ve been self relaxing, with the help of my sister, for the past 10 years. In this video I emphasize the importance of protecting and prepping your hair before a relaxer for stronger healthier tresses. I swear by all the methods, products and techniques I share in this video as they have worked well for me and my hair over the years.
So today, I’m demonstrating how to achieve and maintain healthy relaxed hair while relaxing at home. I also share tips for taking care of your relaxed hair to prevent under-processing, over-processing, overlap, relaxer run-off etc. so that your hair can grow long, thick and healthy!
Be sure to share this video with another Relaxed sis!
As always, thanks for watching! Oh, and don't forget to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE :)

This makes me wish that I knew how to take care of relaxed hair when I was younger, my mom relaxed me at 8 or 9 years old, and my hair used to be almost thigh length, and it broke off up to my shoulders because we didnt know how to protect the parts of hair that didnt need to be re relaxed, I hate that I ever relaxed my hair, I'm 2 years natural now, and I'm lil bellow bra length, I think I might have hit a limit or something, but my hair hasn't grown much of the last 6 month's, and I've been doing the most for the hair making shure its moisturized, I played ablot with hairstyles, so now I have mini twists for the 3rd week and I'm going to try the more hands off approach maybe that will grow some more length 🙏
Girl you're hair is beautiful, and I'm glad you were able to keep all that length w the relaxer

Well maybe you & her both can explain the reason for all the “heat protectants?” You’re relaxed, the bond & hairs integrity is already compromised and being already relaxed minimum heat is needed! You can get these results using a good blowout with a paddle brush like you do in preparation for a silk press.

I just went back to a relaxer because being natural was time consuming and my Twistouts would always come out wrong on my most important days. I have 4 different textures of hair. Wavy, curly, wavy/curly and extremely straight. Each section is a different texture which became too much work. My front right side has no wave or curl pattern at all so I found myself having to retwist (2 strand twist) every 3 days. It did more damage than good for me due to the constant manipulation. I've always relaxed every 4 months so I never experienced breakage, I still had texture and my hair was thick, hanging down my back and beautiful. People used to ask if it was a wig. I said all of that just to say I never knew my friends were relaxing their hair every 6 weeks. I asked them if they were crazy and then explained to them that was the reason their hair was breaking. Too much of anything is bad for us. I see women with natural hair and I be like you go girl you are rocking that style! I just tell myself girl everything isn't for everyone and unfortunately my mixed textures fight against me...lol

You’ve been such a important content creator for the relaxed hair community. The information you deliver is always clear, pointed, helpful and no gimmicky stuff to waste your time. We’ve seen you grow your hair from short and damage to long and healthy. I followed your hair regimen (San self relaxers, just too lazy for that) and was able to grow my hair from short and damaged to long and healthy. I highly recommend anybody with relaxed hair to follow your relaxed hair regimen, they will not be disappointed with the results (consistency is key) Wishing you success in every area of your life. My husband and I got pregnant with a baby girl which is now here today. And I wanted to set an example for her to know that she can grow long and healthy hair. So I began watching all of your videos and then decided to go relaxed. Since March my hair went from above my shoulders and is now well past my armpits. It’s insane! Great process! I always say gaining health and length on Afro textured hair is a thinking game. It is not possible to be consistently successful by guessing. This video demonstrates and epitomizes this concept. You have thought about your process from starting on a different side each time, to understanding that your hair is thicker in the back and you need to start there. Also, your prep process of using the porosity product and hair grease to protect your previously, processed hair from the touch-up and runoff, required analysis and thought, too. Pre-parting is genius! Beautiful afro-textured hair, relaxed or natural, rarely comes about by accident. That's a million dollar process you have developed over the last ten years. Excellent video, as usual. And of course your hair came out gorgeous!

@@HairliciousInc The key to all life goals!
Looking back on your video really taught me a life lesson: with intention, care, love and patience you really can achieve anything.
Some people don't just want straight hair but almost an extinction of their kicks. So, they end up over processing, overlapping and being too eager to get a result. Overall, in the end they get the straightness but lose the health.
However with you, you prioritize health, length and longevity of your hair. I'm inferring that for you its not just straightness you seek, but self care & manageability. As a young black woman, I really do appreciate you showing this.
Eventhough I may never go back, I now know that even if you perm you can still treat your hair with love. No one has ever shown me that. For them, it was almost a self deprecating act that sowed in the message that kinks were not acceptable and should be rid of. Now I see another way to view it.
      Keep treating yourself with love!

Thank you for showing your relax day! I'm relaxed too, have been for 40 years. Your hair is a bit longer than mine, maybe an inch or two. So for long hair, I love your idea of separating in smaller pieces first!
But you don't need your sister, girl! My hair is about the same length, and I do my own just fine, so can you! You can feel for the new growth in the back, you don't need to see it.
I hate to hear about so many women wanting to relax, but they're scared to death. So it's great to see you showing just how simple it really is, and the lovely results. My routine is actually more simple than yours-- I just use what's in the relaxer kit! I only add a detangler and a shine serum, then done!
The only thing that confused me was when you air dried. My hair texture is about 3C. When I air dry, whether it's just after relaxing or 10 weeks later, it dries curly, in long ringlets and waves. Kinda like how Mariah Carey's hair used to look. So I was shocked to see yours air dried straight! 😮 I don't get why? A mystery for the ages, lol. I guess it has something to do with hair texture and how hair takes the perm. But I do like that it does that, because I can wear it bone straight, or let it air dry for curls. 😊

My only issue is that some of my twists were coming loose before I applied the relaxer. My hair is about 3 in shy of bra strap and layered so maybe length has something to do with it? Either way, this is a super helpful video that has given me the confidence to self relax every time now. My hair comes out with more texture because I use affirm but that fact that you can air dry that straight and smooth is amazing. Girl I wish! Lol

We use no lye ORS resistant because it’s easy to get. We may switch once I figure out where to get a good lye one from.Coconut oil also actually penetrates the hair shaft for added protection.

I wonder if I can do this process alone; afraid I won’t process the back correctly. I love this process. Thank you.

I'm 36 and was relaxed from 5-14, it's been a long time since I went natural at 15 but oh my gosh how the game has changed for relaxers! I'm so glad there are more protective, loving and thoughtful best practices for our hair when going through chemical processing. I bet I wouldn't have had my hair always breaking off and near constant chemical burns is this was how everyone was taught to process their hair like this. Fantastic job, ladies.

I have been natural for 13 years, prior to using a relaxer twice a year. again. I have always cared for my own hair and I am tired. The struggle is real. You have given me the confidence to relax. Thanks.

Jesus love you, he died on the cross for you, accept him as your lord and savior he can change everything. For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life" (Jn 3:16"
But you must repent too. From that time Jesus went about preaching and saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin, for the kingdom of heaven is near. (Matthew 4:17):

The pre-parting, protecting and twisting sections before applying relaxer, oh! And getting your sister to help with the back, are big game changers for me. Your hair is stunning! Thank you for sharing your techniques, you have a new subscriber here 💖

I have been following this routine along with many of your other routines for over 2-years and was able to grow myself and both of my daughter’s hair healthy and bra strap length. Until about a year ago, when my dad got ill and I relocated to help care for him. We went to a salon and all three of our hair started shedding uncontrollably and falling out like crazy 😢 I was devastated! NEVER AGAIN…. If it ain’t broke no need to try anything else. Needless to say, I’m back on it now and of course still following your regiments and all of our hair has stopped falling out and back thriving!
Thank you for sharing your greatness with us!
    Blessings!

This is an excellent excellent video with excellent results. Very straight to the point , no time wasting and entertaining at the same time. You have a lovely sister. My hair is natural. I can't relax it because it's already thin in it's natural state but if I could, I'd follow your steps all the way. To be honest you're the best relaxed girl I've seen so far on RUclips. Thank you for another informative and great video. I'll continue watching your videos 🥰.

I’ve been natural for 13 years and it’s refreshing to see your video/ technique. When I use to get relaxers, my hair was just as healthy as it is now. So I totally agree it’s about hair care period. Not sure if I will ever go back because I love going from silk press ( which is usually like 3 times a year) to my curly styles. People always ask me about my flat twist and two strand twist technique it’s a process for sure. But I believe if all of us share our hair care techniques regardless of this natural vs relaxed hair stuff what a movement this would be. I embrace it all. I just love healthy hair. Nothing against weave or wigs but it’s just something about healthy hair. I saw my childhood stylist a few weeks ago while visiting home in Louisiana and she was so proud to see how healthy my hair continues to remain. Miss those silk press and roller wrap days. All of us had edges and hair down our backs. I’m here for it all. Thank you again for sharing.
