I recall Iman says she loves partnering up with Anna because Anna knows team work, and isn’t a spotlight stealing person. Anna had also sad something similar in an interview, she tunes her runway style on team catwalk to match the other person’s walk 😁
Iman, when young a trendsetter on the top runaways in the world. Valentino, Ungaro, Calvin Klein, Moschino all used her services. She married David Bowie ( United Kingdom) and she became more famous. She is older, now and sells clothes on QVC. A legend in fashion, and a good world citizen!
Back when modeling was such an art-form. You don't see that today. Its just a boring walk with no signature walk, no facial expressions and no X Factor.
Iman and other legends ( Christy Turlington,Veronica Webb, Cindy Crawford, Yasmeen Ghauri, Yasmin Le Bon, Sonia Cole and many more would become the show) are the ladies who represented the top designers in the world! These houses are located in Paris,France, New York City, Milan, Italy and London, England ( the four fashion capitals of the world)!
Anna said her walk is called lavandera walk inspired by woman in the Philippines around the country side who do their laundry and carry them with their basin around their head.
Today's models have the same robotic look. Iman & Anna showed individuality and matched their moves and facial expressions with what they were wearing. Anna's walk is iconic thar it's part of a song lyrics. 🌹❤💃💃👏👏
I love fashion today, yesterday and tomorrow...and i'm not one to say it was better before....but these girls were really muses to the designers not merely followers magnet like the Insta models of today!! They really became the designers ideal woman! Don't know where you've found these footage but yeah I'm gobsmacked!😍😍😍😍
I hope someone would recreate this kind of audience and catwalk. They're like walking art pieces. Gorgeous! It would be a dream to see them again walk the runway and show the current models how they did it during their time.
I knew of both of these models, when I was 11years old that was 1978, and eventually went to fashion school and have always had them as muses when I design. Anna Bayle, and Iman Abdul-Majhid-Bowie, they were, and still are just some of my "muses of my mind".
@Jaybee My cousin was an avid fashion magazine reader, and she would make clothes for herself I would always draw people on tv and in the newspaper weaing different types of clothes, so the idea of be a fashion designer was planted at an early age.
@@nigelseaton8367 Interesting. I thought Anna Bayle was largely a runway model, so I wondered how you knew about her. Things were less accessible then.
Dear modern models, Please, learn!!!! They didn’t just runoff the runway, rather they took their time to showcase the outfit to the audience, get enough camera time showcasing it and also bring the designer’s ideas to life.
Remember fashion shows are fantasy. No one has those bodies or can afford those clothes. The top fashion houses are dependent on wealthy women! Models live on coffee and yogurt to display those fabulous clothes! That is why most models are under 35.
Melanie Marquez was tagged as a "THOUSAND FACES" by New York and Milan fashion houses in the 80's and competed in WORLD SUPERMODEL. They say she can be a LATINA, HISPANIC, ITALIAN, HUNGARIAN, and MIDDLE EASTERN. Anna Bayle's LOOK IS PURE ORIENTAL!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Anna & Iman, two iconic in one runway, the models of today will never be compared to these two supermodel ladies. They've got it all, and that's a FACTS 💪💪💪💚🩵💞
The marriage to David Bowie made her world famous! Iman, a legendary runaway model! A long and lean East African Woman ( Somalia is her birthplace). Anna Bayle such a hard worker! She was a top name in New York and Paris, France many years ago. The nation of the Phillipines must be proud of her!
When models really looked like models. The pride of the Philippines with THE Iman together. Wow!
Ooh "models looked like models" That's very true!
Wait...and when it was actually a real talent!
The ANNA & the IMAN ❤️❤️
So skinny girls. Ok, got it.
I recall Iman says she loves partnering up with Anna because Anna knows team work, and isn’t a spotlight stealing person.

Agree! Wow that shot of Iman and Anna in matching business suits...they were in perfect sync. So elegant!

the industry would be NOTHING without these women

Iman was world famous before that’s how he noticed her quit playing

When models were models back then.
Agree with some comments here where current modeling seems a farcry in some remote past.
Back then was better?
Anna Bayle from the Philippines, was the first Asian Supermodel.
What’s the name of the mix?

That was from Gianni Versace like 1990ish.
I love the Iman and Anna Tandem.
Back in the day Anna is way more famous than Iman.
Your drinking spiked punch. Iman was the most famous model in the world for years. This was like 1978-1995.
Harper Bazaar ranked Iman #2 and Anna Bayle at #3 . Iman was the bigger runway star.
Anna Bayle will remain the 'CAT WALK QUEEN' of all time...
