    Finally Dalma Callado got the recognition that she deserves. 🥰🥰🇧🇷🇧🇷

    @material___ Год назад +24

    We need to acknowledge that she was still modeling in her mid 30’s in the early 90s and still doing runway, at a time when you were washed up by then. Queen. Icon.

      Janice Dickinson, Iman, Anna Bayle and Jerry Hall were also still modelling in their 30's, but they were not prolific by then. Their demand had died down. Janice and Christie Brinkley scored some big gigs in their 30's, but they were past their heyday already.

    Okay, pause, I've mentioned this woman's name so many times. Dalma Callado is the walk, the gaze, the ability to change her movement to match the garment, the theme. She modeled from her heels to the flip of her hair, and that flip of her hair...amazing! I probably sound like a stalker, but Dalma Callado, Amelia Vairelli, Iman Abdul Majhid, Ines de la Fressange, Anna Bayle, Rebecca Ayoko,Diane DeWitt, Aria Riccardo and Mounia Ossumare,were some of the models that were part of my fashion makeup as a teenager in the early 80's, 1980, to be precise,( i was 13) and I carried these muses into design school, and still today as a fashion illustrator. I wish the younger generation of those interested in fashion and its many players, remember to research the past, know the women,who actually were working models before the advent of the moniker "super".

      You said it! oh and dont forget Pat Cleveland and Alva Chinn. I loved them all and they never stopped amazing me too. I wish I knew how Dalma talked and more biographical info on her as well as Amalia for sure. They all were a Jubilee collection that came well before Naomi and Christy T. etc. etc. It seems that when the "supermodels" term came into focus they had all started to retire and the new 90's "Rupaul" models were actually inferior in finesse and basically less chic.

    • @nigelseaton8367
      @nigelseaton8367 Год назад +3

      @Lhin Doh Absolutely, Pat Cleveland, and Alva Chin! Along with some lesser known names like Aria Riccardo, Romeny Williams, Coco Mitchell all runway models , and so many others of the late 70's going into the 1980's As for Dalma, she's from Brazil, where she is still active in fashion, she even worked for Chanel with Lagerfeld after she retired from the catwalk.and Amelia Vairelli is from Somalia, and is still modeling, in Paris, where she is based. She's been modeling for about 40 years, starting in the late 1970's with Yves Saint Laurent, who met her in a club dancing, to be precise. And that's, that I hope this was helpful.

    Dalma Callado makes my heart beat fast. I especially love her at the 1:08 mark. Between that distinctive walk and the flattering hair style, I can't take my eyes off her. One of my fave models ever, right up there with Gisele Zelauy, also from Brazil.
    Brazil seems to have had more than it's fair share of successful models.
    Contrast them with boring nepotism model Kendall Jenner. I am surprised nobody has thrown a shoe at her during her runway walk, just to make her memorable apart from her trashy Kardashian lineage.

The up and coming models of the late 80's that had her vibe to me, Yasmeen Ghuri and Naomi Campbell who by the way is more FIERCE today than ever!!! As a younger I would often forget her name 🤔 sadly only because she didn't get the recognition she deserved.
    All the " she looks like Yasmeen" well other way around, Yasmeen looks like Dalma 🤔😉.
    BUT your ALL right she is the original, you think she was probably ten years older than most others at Versace S/S 91 But had more elegance and sheer presence than most.
    It's personal but I've always thought she was great, for me it's her and Marpessa Henick ✌️.
    As I said she looks like Yasmeen but personally she may not be as well known But she's more beautiful.
    Back in a time when models were drop dead gorgeous and elegant.
    After 93/94 it was all down hill with Grunge and also the most ridiculous mentioned look EVER " heroin chic ", NOTHING chic about that " and under weight anorexic models.
    Alas the arrival of the " super model tag " have too much credit to a handful of overpaid women who behaved like girls ( Naomi ) and just like that the elegance of 80-92 was gone.
    But she remains immortalised in print and film for ever ❤️✌️✌️✌️

      Except she WAS Canadian born in Montreal to a GERMAN mother and a half ( INDIAN/ PAKISTANI ) father.
      Although raised Muslim by her parents after she went into fashion AGAINST the wishes of her parents she turned her back on Islam and now says she finds comfort in Spirituality.
      Very elegant beautiful woman who's photograph's DON'T do her justice.
      I saw her in Milan and Paris and OMG she could walk and command a presence.
      They often compare Dalma Callado to her BUT in fairness Dalma came first so I'd say Yasmeen looks like Dalma.
      Anyway it would be a crazy world if we all found beauty in the same person.
      We do have some beautiful women these days but the mid 80s to early 90s we had elegance and presence.
      Personally,I liked Imam,Dalma Callado, Marpessa Henick, Yasmeen Ghauri, Linda Evangelista ,Nadège du Bospertus and Helena Christiansen.
      Only Adriana Lima would make my modern times list.
      There's more than just a pretty face.
      Personality, presence and Elegance is what we miss these days.
      Personally, Claudia was just a modern day Bardot and Naomi has the personality of a Pit Viper 🙄😉.
      Still each to their own.
      But I'm glad to of had the chance to of been at some of the Early 90s shows. ✌️👍

      Current designers are talentless nobodies compared to the ones from the 80s, "dated" means nothing

    • @rikaardyyz3039
      @rikaardyyz3039 5 месяцев назад +1

      I think you can mostly contribute the Dynasty look to the decade and mostly the hair styles.
      Some of this footage is early but a lot 90s which is SO NOT mid 80s power dressing.
      That Versace S/S 91 Milan was a legendary show and she would of been 34 ISH and still looking better than most.
      At least she never threw her toys outa the pram on Flights 🤔🙄 er " Naomi".
      Unfortunately after 93 with Grunge and " Heroin chic " working it's way into high end fashion it just wasn't the same.
      Too many over paid " me me me " types with zero personality.
      And the term " Super " just killed it for the majority who propped up the few !!? 🙄🤔✌️✌️

      Modelling work-specific used to be the norm. In the 70's, the merging of print, runway and TV commercial work began.
      Yes, Dalma was not much of a looker, but she's still okay. Actually, most of the top models were very much average in looks, but could look much better with the right make-up.
