Mahalo for watching! We are planning on publishing more videos of these days out on Maui and other Hawaiian islands. Subscribe to get notified on the next video, plus it helps us out! Thanks again, Jordan and Erica
We went there for our 25th wedding anniversary .It was AWESOME then rode bikes all the way to the beach. If you ever get the chance do it truly AMAZING.
The Hawaii Vacation Guide you never know , we have decided instead of gifts for bdays and holidays we will go to Hawaii every year and try something knew 🌴 🌊 🥥 🍍. Aloha
Mahalo for this one. When we started going to Haleakala it was only $10.00 to enter, every year it increased! Been to the top many times and love it and mahalo for doing the hike . I always wanted to try it it but was never able to do it because of a heart condition and now I’m 75 and it’s a little more than I really want to try. Maybe next year providing this blasted virus will let us ( and the insurance companies). Stay safe you three, Aloha!
Truly breathtaking and I wasn’t even 10,000 ft up!! Amazing that Maui has so many climates! Love how Henry can repeat the words so well. Will be looking forward to your next adventure “on the road again”!
It was 39 degrees and 30 to 40 mph winds when we were there. But was so worth it when the sun set. Can’t get over just a couple cars in the parking lot. Thanks for sharing
We will have to buy some thicker jackets before we head up in those conditions. We were wearing our warmest clothes! Layers are the key as it did get warm on the White Hill hike once the sun came out. July is a little easier than when you probably went! Thanks for watching!
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide wish us luck going on April 19 2021. Probably go late afternoon do a small hike watxh the sunset and stars while sitting in our car
I want to mention a tip for those who don't want to get up at the crack of dawn to see the sunrise on Haleakala. The SUNSET is just as spectacular and less crowded! And yes, keep your park pass as it will let you into the 7 Sacred Pools in Hana (which isn't all that great in my opinion) and the MUST DO bamboo forest hike that rewards you with the 400 ft. Waimoku Falls waterfall at the end! Spectacular! If you do the 7 Sacred Pools before Haleakala, save your pass to use there.
Plus no permit required for the sunset! We are itching for the Road to Hana to open (National Guard has a checkpoint at Twin Falls) to visit all the best sites again. Thanks for the tips!
Kids, always doing the opposite of what you expect! Lol. Haven’t made it up Haleakala yet, but Makawao is definitely a charming spot. Shaka Guide is the best! Great commentary, informative and funny. Again, keep up the great videos! Mahalo!
Thanks for watching! These trips are an adventure with Henry. Shaka and GyPSy apps make the trips so much more informative. They are easier than getting the CD from Walmart for the Road to Hana as we did 10 years ago.
Thank you for your video. It helped me decide to take my family up to the summit right before our flight home. It was spectacular and well worth the effort. Next time, we’ll be sure to stop by Komoda Bakery. Those doughnuts look amazing.
We have 4 or 5 videos on the road to hana. Start with this one and see the description for the links to the others: ruclips.net/video/loJ69wHb-hY/видео.html thanks for watching!
How possible would it be to do the Haleakala sunrise and Pipiwai trail in the same day? We want to do this hike but I’m worried it might be too much for our road to Hana trip.
Hi Jordan and Erica! Me and my husband and 8 kids are planning a trip there, was wondering do you think a one year old would do ok up there ? Our older kids want to see the sunrise , but I’m not sure how well our one year old will do with the elevation. I’ve read kids can get sick? Wondering your thoughts. Thanks !!
When I went to Maui with my mom she wouldn't let me go to the volcano, she felt I had the power to make it erupt... The furthest we went up the was to the lavender fields!
That's something! The lavender fields and upcountry are very nice. I'm glad you found this video so you could experience it. Thanks for saving Maui from an eruption.
If you’re afraid of heights at all, it may not be for you. The actual summit isn’t steep or scary, but the drive has numerous curves that are unprotected, steep and dangerous. I barely made it and I was driving like 5mph lol.
Love your videos, we are booked in June to visit and considering a trip up to Haleakala. We have a toddler as well, close to 2, it seems your son did ok? Was there anything you did to help acclimate or prepare him to prevent any altitude sickness/symptoms?
hi jordan and erica! We have a Maui trip coming up next week. Im so excited and nervous for the covid test lol anyways, Ive been watching you guys and all ur videos are so helpful. So have a few questions if you’re going to do the Haleakala sunset do u need a reservation also? I know the sunrise one u have to do reservation but unfortunately they’re sold out huhu
Aloha Lori, they have a sunrise express tour that doesn’t include breakfast the Kula Lodge and the Majestic Sunrise Tour that includes breakfast. I recommend you call them for details as the listed pricing looks out of date. They have a sunset tour also but sunrise is best experienced with a guided tour as they can get the permit amd do the early morning driving.

You guys have THE BEST videos and your little guy is just adorable!!
thanks so much! this is an old video but I enjoy the vlog videos.

Nice shout out for the Shaka Guide! That app is AMAZING!!!!
Wow! I wish we could visit Haleakala National Park when we come to Maui. If not, I will probably keep watching your video, again.
Both solutions work! See this video for more Haleakala views: ruclips.net/video/ZfnjMQ0c67I/видео.html
Did this in January for my 50th birthday, sunrise was wonderful!
A Haleakala sunrise a perfect 50th birthday gift! Will your 60th be snorkeling with manta rays in Kona?

I traveled up Haleakala for the first time about two months ago. The journey and destination are amazing!
Visited Haleakala in 2013 & 2016 (sunset) - took me back to those visits. Fantastic scenery.

Beautiful. I can't believe those people were skateboarding in front of your car!!
it was nuts. I wish we got more video of them as they were moving down the volcano!

When I wad on top it was so cold and wet ,,,but what a view
Can you guys do the road to Hana ? It was our next favorite.
We did all the water falls on the way across .Past the big windmills.

Jackets, heavy sweaters, beanies and hats that can be tied, because it’s cold and windy.🤙🏽🤙🏽
It can be freezing up there!
So beautiful.
Are tourists allowed to travel up there at night to experience the amazing views of the Milky Way dark rift? How long is the trip up the observatory?
You can go up for sunset and then stay for stargazing at the summit. Can’t go into the observatories.

I'm not sure how a one year old can handle the elevation gain to 10,023 ft. Perhaps ask your doctor?
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide thank you appreciate it the reply :) will definitely ask our pediatrician
I tell everybody I know that goes to Maui to do the early morning sunrise there and always dress like your going to Alaska.
No one believes us how cold it is up there!

It is even worse at night, after sunset. Can't see the cliff but there are cows in the road.
What is the name of the trail in the video?

no problem with the altitude but he did not like the cold. Prepare them for it and dress your toddler for the cold!
Tcblonski how did your toddler do on your trip? We have a 5 and 8 yo and we’re concern with the Altitude sickness as well.
If you go to national parks often you can buy a National Park Annual Pass.

thanks for watching Janikka! A reservation is not required for sunset to Haleakala. Get there around 4 or 4:30 to avoid traffic.
You go up 10,000 feet in 40 minutes. It’s probably one of the fastest ascents in the world.
Do you need to have reservations for visits at the park that I should pre book?
Halaekala requires a $1 permit for sunrise but not for after sunrise. Nothing to prebook if you don't plan to go up for sunrise.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Awesome! Thank you for the quick response. You have great content that helped me plan my 1st trip to MAUI coming up.
