- Out at the 100 Yard Range shooting my British 303 No. 4 Mk 1. Sight in and ammo Test with Remington 180 Grain Core Lokt, PPU RifleLine 180 Grain Boat Tail Soft Point, Sellier & Bellot 180 Grain FMJ and Soft Point.
The scope is a Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x40, secured by a Bad Ace Tactical Scope Base Mount.
Love the 303 British Enfield rifle!!!
I actually harvested my first buck with my brothers 303 British! Wish he still had it.. he sold it to his father in law!
That sure makes it extra special. At least it's still in the family. Thanks for watching! God bless!
Fine shooting with a variety of loads. In the off season take a look at the bedding and the mounting of the scope. These are two good things to do with any hunting rifle in preparation for use in the fields and woods.
Idk if you have a aftermarket barrel, however, if not, the .303 British rifles cast a wide net as far as bore diameter if it is a military barrel. I would suggest that you slug your barrel and take your measurements of groove diameter from the lead slug. all in all as a hunting rifle it's fine for shooting game just as it is, however, for better accuracy you have know what bullet diameter fits that barrel. Idk if you handload, however, handloading is the other side of accuracy when it comes to firearms. you can tailor make you ammunition to do what you need it to do, it is a viable resource used. anyway, I enjoyed the content, good luck and good shooting. peace Brother. - Dave
I thought about it and I also wanted to say, although most of the shooting community looks at the series of British military rifles as Ugly ducklings, once you know what you are looking at, the rifles they produced were very well thought out and well made. just the receivers have dozens of machine cuts that is craftmanship that you would pay a lot of money for these days. the ergonomics of the stocks with it's canted buttstock and pistol grip fits the shooter, not the other way around, the sights are excellent and precise, hashed not to reflect glare. Many match rifles have been built off of the Enfield's, I would say more testing, evaluation, research and development for both the evolution of the rifle and .303 cartage has been done, more than any other cartage/rifle in history. It is one of the Great firearm and cartage's experimented with. And as far as a game stopper, the .303 cartage, it has been used for more hunting applications and has dropped more animals than any other round world wide. thousands upon thousands of Enfield rifles were sold as surplus just in Canada and the United States and successful hunting (One shot stops) on all North American game is a trophy it has won. As you can tell, I'm a big Fan of the .303. Peace - Dave
Left a comment on your earlier vid about the difference being ppu is a boattail projectile & s&b and remington are flat based .The coreloct sighted in at 2inch high at 100 yards is what i use in my no4 mk 1 to drop pigs/hogs out to 200 yards.
My neighbor installed a Shark muzzle brake on my long branch 303. Helped
The 180 sp boat tail s&b work well in my mosin for deer out to 100 or so meters but a warmish barrel works best
Yes,my first deer was taken with a 303 brit mk3
My Brit. 303 likes flat base bullets, but I have the left hand twist , 5 lands and groves, not sure that would make a difference or not? Sierra makes a great flat base bullet I hand load.
I like 303s
Personally I would go with the corelocks .
They are great rounds for sure. I have the least of them, and they are expensive, and they have been hard to find. If I ever use this rifle for elk hunting I will seriously consider them. Thanks for watching and commenting!
🇦🇺😎👍Nice
Thanks for watching!
Have you tested Herter 303 SP. My local Cabela's has it and I bought two boxes. Maybe using it the Deer season.
I saw some of that at Cabelas as well and almost bought some but didnt. So, no, haven't tried it yet. Good luck!
@@MisterBrewer Yes they carry it . When I returned home . I opened a box of it and discovered that it's made in the USA it's marked on the case base.
It’s got the Winchester PowerPoint bullet. Made by Olin. Similar specs to the 180 grain PowerPoints. I have shot it. Seemed good
